Jenni does not disappoint with her books and her love interests. More Than a Hero is a beautifully written and gripping story with twists and turns throughout. Morgan and Nick are perfect for each other and the chemistry was off the charts. The push/pull relationship that was happening between was interesting to watch. Jenni delivers the perfect mix of suspense, angst and love all rolled into one outstanding book.

Morgan has grown up in a house full of strong alpha males since her mother died during her childbirth. She is an independent and strong-willed woman who does not need a man to take care of her. When her life is in danger, because of her brother's job, her family calls upon an ex-Navy Seal to help protect her. Nick was the best friend of Morgan's brother who was killed in the line of duty. Nick will do anything to protect the ones that he loves, and he is loyal to those around him. He is dealing with a lot of guilt as he feels responsible for the death of her brother, Lewie. They both fight this attraction they have for one another, but will they eventually give in and not fight it? Morgan does not want a relationship with an alpha male as she is surrounded by them. Nick doesn't feel that he is good enough for her, but his attraction to her is strong. Will relocating her keep her safe? When Nick and Morgan cross the line, will it just be to get it out of their system, or will it develop into something more? When they find out who the person is responsible for putting Morgan in danger, what will they do?

Although this is a suspense-filled book, there are times that you have a good laugh, for example, the texts between Nick and his team that I'm sure Morgan was not supposed to see. Talk about embarrassing for both of them.

I highly recommend grabbing this book as you will not be disappointed. I have read the first two books in this series and I suggest reading them as well since you will get a bit of a background into the Evans family. I cannot wait for the next installment in the Evans series. I also hope that Nick's team, Bex, Seabass, Wyatt and Donavan get their own stories.ries.

I'm still grinning. This book was so good I read it in two sittings. Nick is HOT, and damaged, and layered, and sexy, and did I mention he's HOT! He's definitely my fave in the series so far and Morgan is so much fun too! I love a romance writing FMC. She's sarcastic and funny and strong and cute and such a great match for him. The end had me tearing up and everything. I can't wait for the next book. SEABASS PLEASE!

More Than a Hero is the third book in the Becoming an Evans series, and it’s a wonderful addition to the series.

I fell in love with Nick in More Than Fine, and was so excited to find that he was the next in the series. The wounded Navy Seal met his match in romance author Morgan.

Their story is filled with passion, suspense and humour. I recommend this to anyone who loves getting captivated by broken heroes and the women that challenge them.

Even though Nick is there to protect Morgan, she is the light to his darkness. His flashbacks come and she gets him to open up about them. Knowing all too well about them from her dad and brothers. I really liked her character she was a fun character despite the circumstances, Their first kiss and how it made her feel, the characters in general are wonderful and the story was engaging.

I received this copy from the author and my honest review is voluntary.

Each book in this series is more amazing than the one before!

I LOVED Nick and Morgan's story. It was the perfect blend of romance and suspense, with *just* the right amount of angst thrown in for good measure. (Could the bulk of their romance angst have been resolved with a conversation or two, one of my biggest pet peeves? Probably--but each was going on information gleaned from previous conversations, and it made actual sense for where they each were at that point of the story. Their "moment" came at exactly the right time, and OMG...insert heart eyes emoji here)

I really liked that it wasn't always Nick being the jerk in the relationship when they hit a snag--Morgan had just about as many oops, wtf did I say that for? moments as he did. And since we're the ones who get to see what they're actually thinking all along, readers know that even when it looks like one of them is being an a$$, that isn't always the case. Or at least they're not being that way on purpose. There's so much inner conflict here, and it's all delicious...

I also enjoyed seeing all of the rest of the Evans family here, in various amounts (not everyone's physically there, but the heroes and heroines of the first two books-- More Than the Game and More Than Fine --and Danny get decent page time. You don't have to have read their books to enjoy this one, but if you have you'll appreciate their parts even more.) I love how close all the Evanses are (OMG, the text message convo that plays in the car was actual LOL--we're talking snort-laughing, here--funny), and Morgan's family dynamic was a lot of fun too. Nick's crew were so much fun to read about as well--please tell me that Wyatt, Seabass, Donovan and Bex are all getting their own stories? Oh, and Evans-hanger-on Corey too. In other words, Ms Bara can just keep writing stories for all of her secondary characters, and I'll be 100% here for it ;)

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a burning desire to go watch The Little Mermaid for some reason... ;)

Rating: 4 1/2 stars / A

She is a romance writer who hates heroes mainly because she has seen the reality of being related to real life ones. But when her life is threatened she is forced into the protection with the exact kind of man she tries to avoid.

Morgan grew up with a Navy SEAL father and brothers. She knows what real life heroes look like. While she loves her family, she looks for the opposite when it comes to her dating life. Unfortunately, Morgan finds herself in not one, but two situations that threaten her safety causing her father call in some favors.

Nick Evans is officially retired from the military. Now running a private security company he is the ideal person to call when you are in need of protection. From his years of service and his devotion to his chaotic, large family, he is the guy you call to keep your loved ones safe. So when his late best friend's father calls him to cash in a favor, Nick has no idea how his world is about to turn upside down.

Morgan just wants her life to go back to normal of writing romance and dating harmless, boring men. But for now she has to go into hiding. Unfortunately, the man in charge of the team protecting her is the physical embodiment of her dream man as well as the exact type of real life hero she can't fall for. She has seen the dark side of the life of military spouse and while this man is always angry around her, she can't let herself get close to him under any circumstances.

For Nick, he feels like he already knows Morgan from hearing about her through his best friend. Somehow, he never was able to meet her over the years and he is beginning to realize why. Nick loved his time in the service and would still be there if he hadn't been injured on the same mission that ended his best friend's life. He always kept his relationships casual knowing he didn't have time for something permanent. He owes a debt to keep this woman safe but he feels drawn to her in a way he has never felt before.

Dual POV, romantic suspense, forced proximity, open door love scenes.

Nick is a grumpy, yet broken man, who is brought to his knees by his best friend's sister. The threat feels a little oppressive throughout the book but not too heavy. The whole book is a slow burn between Nick and Morgan until the very end. Then the book ends almost abruptly?? Thankfully, we get a nice HEA and Epilogue. But the step from confessed feelings to the end felt rushed when most of the story is spent with them denying the possibility of something between them.

More Than A Hero is the third book of Becoming an Evans Series. I couldn’t be happier with Nick’s story. He became my favorite brother from the beginning of the series, and I’m a sucker for broken heroes!

Nick was released from the Navy after being injured in Afghanistan. He is a highly skilled ex Seal, a strong alpha with a hard carapace, but a big teddy bear on the inside. Life doesn’t stop, and he has to adjust to his new reality and deal with PTSD once in a while. He’s focused on his new business when he’s landed the job of protecting his best friend’s little sister, Morgan, from a stalker. But Morgan is not that little anymore. She is a grown and independent woman, a romance writer, who her brothers portrayed as an emotional and whiny girl. It’s when Nick discovers the info about her couldn’t be far from the truth. She’s assertive, brave, and knows what she wants, becoming Nick’s personal temptress and sweet torture.

It’s a beautiful love story about finding your place with the right person in the middle of a few twists and turns, and you get emotionally invested in their world. The slow burn romance is swooning, and despite Morgan having sworn off Navy men, she connects with Nick right away and understands all the baggage he comes with, helping put his shattered pieces back together without him realizing it.

The family life of the Evanses is heartwarming and full of fun. I wish all the families could be just like them, but I missed them to be a bit more active in this story, not so much texting going on between them, usually a fun ride on the side.

All the characters are real, and we find them around us in our everyday life. I was thrilled to meet Wyatt again with his witty personality, but a little more mature this time. It also presented new and interesting characters to the story, adding more color to the Evanses’ world.

I can’t recommend Nick and Morgan’s story enough. It’s packed with a bit of action, mystery, soulful moments, lots of love, steam, and an endearing end. The perfect recipe for a swooning love story! Nick is mine. Morgan just doesn’t know yet! 🤫😉🥰

ARC review- More Than a Hero by @jennibarabooks - Morgan has grown up around alpha males and goes out of her way not to get involved with them in her romantic life. Her brother’s job puts her in danger and her other brothers best friend Nick is called in to watch over her. He is ex Navy and everything she thought she didn’t want, but their attraction is instant. Nick tries to fight it, you don’t go after your best friends little sister! But he can’t stay away. He thinks his attraction to her will cause him to lose focus from protecting her. She doesn’t want an alpha guy in her life long term, so they both think one night will work them out of each other’s systems. Boy are they wrong. It turns out that the people going after her because of her brother aren’t her only problem. Nick has issues from his time in the Navy and thinks he isn’t good enough for her, but he’s loyal, loving, strong and would do anything for the people he cares about. Morgan’s brothers make her out to be dramatic & emotional but her really she is strong, smart and handles everything that is thrown at her. When trouble comes after her Nick is there watching, willing to do anything to protect her. I was a little confused with the last dramatic scene, but I still really enjoyed the story. It takes nearly losing each other for them to admit what everyone around them has already realised. I loved the inclusion of their friends and family and am really looking forward to reading more Evans family stories and hopefully their extended circle.

More Than A Hero by Jenni Bara
Book Review: ****.5

I loved Nick and Morgan’s story! My head was stuck in this book from the very beginning. There is drama, mystery and suspense, romance, steam, and a perfect ending.
Louis knowing, they were meant for each other made the water works come about.
Incorporating characters from the previous stories, was a nice added bonus. But now, I’m officially torn between Grand or Nick as the ultimate Evans book boyfriend. Such tough choices!
Thank you to the author for the ARC, in exchange for an honest review.

Summary
Morgan loves writing and reading romance. But she has one rule – No Heroes! That is until she meets former Navy Seal, Nick Evans. Being assigned to watch and protect her for the next week, she realizes he isn’t a man with a hero complex. He is extremely attractive, smart, loyal, attentive, and has read all of her books. For goodness sake, he even knows what a meet cute is.

Nick has a keen ability of sensing danger and managing his emotions. But after being assigned to protect his best friend’s sister he can’t keep his head on straight. The need to maintain a distance from Morgan is strong, but he doesn’t seem to have the willpower. Instead, untold stories of his time in Syria and his friendship with her brother are shared. But would falling for his best friend’s sister be a betrayal of trust?

I love Nick Evans! I thought Ms. Bara had topped my book boyfriend chart with Grant Evans. I should have known better. See, Nick is slightly broken, but we all are and so something in him calls to that brokenness in me. I started falling for this character almost immediately for the way he played with Grant and talked to his nephew Nate, and for the way he stepped up to help even when he knew it was going to open up his wounds that hadn’t yet healed. Morgan was his match, she didn’t know it, and wasn’t ready for it. Her brother Lewie knew it and he kept them apart, because he knew neither of them were quite ready. When Admiral Johanson, Morgan’s Dad, told Nick that story I cried and I cried when I read it again the second and third times too. Because it was PERFECT!!!

Man, this story hit me in all the feels and I’m already ready to read it again. It is THAT good. So, when it comes out on February 28th, go get it. KU it, buy it, whatever you have to do, just get it in your hands. Nick is going to melt your heart! ♥️

Morgan spends her days writing romance novels, talking to her friend Haley and being cuddled by her overprotective brothers. When their jobs put her life in danger, they call on their late brother's best friend Nick Evans to hide and protect her. Despite Nick's onslaught of PTSD episodes and Morgan's fear of the people targeting her, they can't deny their mutual attraction.

I've been on the ARC team for the Becoming an Evans series from the beginning and I always dive right in and kinda forget about stuff I need to do! This book achieved the exact same thing as the previous two. Texts unanswered, laundry piling up, dishes undone, but time very well spent.

I love the banter between Nick and Morgan, but the banter between Nick and his siblings especially had me cracking up! This was a great and exciting read and I'm already impatiently waiting for the next book!

It was interesting reading Morgan and Nick's story; them going back and forth with one another. One of my favorite scenes is when they're in the car together and Nick's PTSD is taking over. Him leaning into Morgan and relying on her in such a vulnerable moment really puts emphasis on the struggles and guilt he came home with. It made the 'military' part of their romance so real.

While it was a little confusing with so many characters in some scenes, I really enjoyed the bro-talk between him and his buddies. Again, it just made it so much more real. And I loved how they helped him see reason and his true feelings for Morgan.

From the beginning to the end, especially the end, I liked how their romance revolved around the cases they were working on. As a reader, I enjoyed being a part of the process of finding the bad guys. The last few chapters really had me on the edge of my seat!!

One of the best military romances I’ve read! Nick Evans is ex-Navy special forces. He was team leader on SEAL missions so secret that his family doesn’t even know. Now the owner of a private sector security company, he has been charged with protecting the daughter of his former commanding officer. Morgan Johanson also happens to be the younger sister of Nick’s deceased best friend, the second-in-command who died during Nick’s last mission.

Nick and Morgan spark instant attraction. This was so beautifully, sinfully portrayed in their first meeting! He liked her from the moment she stretched a long leg out the car door. She couldn’t stop ogling his “Prince Eric” face when they were introduced. Did I mention that Morgan is a romance author? Yeah, I got a kick out of her insight into writing and idea mining for meet-cutes and other romantic elements. I loved the mystery of who is threatening to harm Morgan and the way Nick tries to balance his responsibilities with his heart. Morgan has a jaded opinion of military men that she needs to overcome, until she realizes that Nick is More Than A Hero to her. Intelligent, balanced, and kept me captivated the whole way through!

This book was a ride! I loved the attention to detail throughout the whole story. The characters felt so realistic and had such depth to them, you could tell Jenni Bara took her time doing research and learning about all the subjects covered in the book! Nick was dreamy, yet troubled. Morgan was a super-strong woman, and definitely not the damsel in distress! She took everything in her stride.
The Evans book are some of my favourites, and this one definitely didn't disappoint! I was trying to figure out where she was going to be taking this book the whole way, and I think I'm usually quite good at spotting the plot before it happens. But Jenni Bara threw me for a loop!
Thank you Jenni for letting me ARC read this book, I can't wait for more!

BOOK REVIEW

More Than A Hero by Jenni Bara
Becoming An Evans Book 3

Romance - 270 Pages

I'll be honest, I've never read military/former military. I didn't think I would like the "hero", PTSD, but I was wrong and I can admit that. This book was full of light and dark. Yes, Nick was a hero, but so so much more.

Please, read this series. The characters are so well thought out and each book is so much more than you would expect

This book was a lil spicy so I will rec this for 18+.

I'm giving this book 5 outta 5, because I couldn't put it down!

I absolutely loved Nick Evans. In fact, I am loving each of the Evans brothers. The way Morgan describes Nick as looking like Prince Eric from The Little Mermaid just tops it off. What I loved most about Nick is even though he's ex military and has been through tragedy, he still has a soft heart underneath all that pain. I love that he is fiercely loyal to his friends and family. What I loved about Morgan was when Nick reveals something very devastating to her, she doesn't react the way he thinks she will. It makes her hold on even tighter. Jenni Bara has stolen my heart with her Becoming an Evans series. This series will definitely have you falling in love and laughing out loud at different times.

forever the hero

I won’t lie, I cried with this one. Jenni has an impeccable way of making her characters jump off the page. This book was no different. The evans brothers are all swoon worthy that much is sure but the little details that make them each their own person that has struggles that you end up falling in love with. The end of this book how she wrapped it up was utter perfection. The drama and suspense was not over the top and believable. Storyline flowed well and kept me hooked. Would have finished it in a day if I didn’t have other obligations. Absolutely loved it!!!!

I really enjoyed this story. Romance novelist Morgan is the daughter and sister of 4 Navy SEALs and doesn't want to fall in love with one. No heroes, that's her rule. But when Nick comes along, she considers an exception. He's not your average hero, and he's a pretty extraordinary man who loves to read her novels and helps her come up with meet cute ideas. So sweet and sexy.

My favorite so far in this series!

This internally wounded Navy Seal is the perfect mix of alpha and swoony! Morgan cracks me up with her sarcasm and wit. The combination was perfection! My favorite scene is when they were driving in the car together. I couldn't stop laughing. 🤣 The suspense plot that kept me on the edge of my seat and made me feel like I was transported into the story was an added bonus.

A must read! 🔥😍

My fav of the series ❤️

I’ve enjoyed all of Jenni’s books but this one is my fav so far. Morgan and Nick are just 🔥

Morgan doesn’t want a hero, she’s an independent woman .... but we all need help sometimes. Especially when it’s a hot broken alpharoll.

Y’all this book is one you don’t want to miss! Not quite a service romance but totally is at the same time. The chemistry between Nick and Morgan is palpable. Their development is amazing, and I was rooting for them both to get their act together the whole time. Always take care of your woman. She may not need a hero, but she may need a hug. Let me tell you right now, you need a man like Nick in your life! Also the Duck Tales references brought me back to my childhood and who doesn’t love that every now and again. Read this series!

My Review 🎖🎖🎖🎖🎖

More Than A Hero is exactly as the title says, Nick is the ex Navy Seal who protects those around him at all cost. Morgan is the woman who's been around the military life style and doesn't need the hero but little does she know that some hero's are worth changing for.

I absolutely loved reading Nicks story, from previous books he's the brother that you don't get to see have a lighter side of and then his hard exterior starts to crack with this awesome red head. Morgan is very independent when it comes to her life but when she becomes the target of a stalker it changes everything.

Nick is focused on getting his business set up and never did he think a ghost from his Navy Seal days would come back into his life in the form of his best friends younger sister but that's what happens when a favor is called in.

This book is one with twist and a few turns and a lot of heart. Its about finding where you fit and the ones that you choose as family but also the ones that are beside of you when things get really tough. You will be laughing during the interactions from the Evans siblings and then I'll be the first to admit I'm not a crier when it comes to books but this one had me getting a little misty eyed at certain times.

I would one hundred percent recommend this book to anyone who loves a slow burn with a few extra twist.

MUST READ!!!!

This is the first book by this author that I've read. I like protector books and here we have Nick, who is an ex-SEAL, being asked to protect Morgan. Morgan's father and three brothers are all in the military or FBI, so although she's a romance writer, they've taught her to take care of herself and she's pretty capable. No TSTL moves here, hallelujah!

There's a lot of push and pull between Nick and Morgan, firstly because Morgan's late brother was Nick's teammate in the SEALs and Nick still feels survivor's guilt. Nick also suffers from PTSD which mainly hits in the form of unexpected flashbacks. Plus, there's the "buddies' sisters are off-limits" thing which I've never really understood. I mean, granted, it wouldn't be right to just f*ck around with a buddy's sister, but there's nothing wrong with being with her if you want to build something serious with her.

On Morgan's side, because her father and brothers can't seem to hold down a committed relationship and one of her brothers keeps cheating on his wife, she's jaded about military types. So throughout the whole book, they're attracted to each other but both of them are trying not to act on that attraction for their own various reasons.

I agreed with Nick when he said that being distracted by Morgan's hotness was going to compromise his focus and his ability to protect her. Yet, although he knew that, he didn't do anything about it. He didn't ask his team to stick closer, or hand her over to someone else. It was annoying, because you know he's definitely going to miss something due to his distraction, and he does, and then of course he beats himself up about it. This is the thing I hate about so many protector books -- all these highly trained military and special ops types compromising their own missions and getting distracted by a hot female body. I really liked Quiet Man by Kristen Ashley because Mo straight up tells Lottie that they are not going to get physically involved: he basically says he's not going to put himself in the position where someone could get the drop on him while he's buried inside her and all distracted, and then, having put him out of commission, the villain then is able to get to her.

The romance was kinda meh. It was mostly built on the physical attraction and sexual chemistry. They're drawn to each other and have the hots for each other from the first moment they meet. As I said, Nick was distracted because he kept thinking about wanting to bone her and wondering how her mouth would taste and how she would look bent over the sofa and so on, so forth. Morgan also found him hot and lickable, but she was more controlled and didn't wander off into daydreams about him as much as he did about her, which was ironic because he was supposed to be the stoic and responsible ex-SEAL.

They did know some things about each other prior to meeting, as Morgan's brother had told her a lot about his best friend, and at the same time, he used to read Morgan's letters to Nick while they were deployed and talk about her work with Nick. So in that sense they're not total strangers, but still I wanted to see more connection and personal sharing between them. Like, Morgan never actually gets to explain the "broken" remark to Nick or tell him about her misgivings regarding military men making faithful and committed spouses.

Some other minor issues with the story:

a) I felt the issue of Nick's PTSD was sort of swept under the carpet. He's having lots of flashbacks, then suddenly they're just gone and never mentioned again? It was treated too cavalierly.

b) When Nick didn't want to let Morgan see images of the stalker, I just KNEW it would be someone that Morgan would have been able to immediately identify, and because he hadn't wanted to involve her, the investigation stalled for days. Pffft. That was so obvious. It was also obvious who the stalker was. Honestly, the foreshadowing was a bit heavy-handed.

c) There were a lot of people mentioned in this book; a whole lot of side characters, which was occasionally confusing. Admittedly, I didn't read book #1 and #2 prior to this, so maybe that was why. I might have gotten a better feel of who all these people were if I'd read the earlier books first.

Overall an enjoyable read but it's lacking in the feels and in what makes a romance memorable to me. It's 3.5 stars, but I rounded down.

Morgan may have had a love life that has left a lot to be desired (seriously, how does she pick them???), but one thing she has decided for sure, no heroes allowed. Having grown up surrounded by Navy men, she’s witnessed first hand what their hero complex does in a relationship - great for a good time, but not for the long haul. And as a romance writer (I love that this character writes rom coms!) she seems to know what women want, she just can’t seem to find it for herself.

Nick is two years out of the service, after his military career ending injury, and is getting by just fine with his security company, and managing his triggers for PTSD, usually successful in avoiding them in his day to day life. But when his best friend’s, who was killed in action when he was injured, sister finds herself in need of protection, his triggers are suddenly front and center. But he promised to keep her safe, so he has to do this job. Of course, he never expected the beautiful woman that walks through the door or the effect she would have on him and his life.

The dynamic between Nick and Morgan is fantastic. They both sense this instant chemistry between them, but neither of them is willing to do anything about it, each for their own reasons that they think are valid. But the more they spend time together, the less they are able to resist that there is something more between them. For Nick, Morgan seems to be the one thing that seems to ground him when he has a flashback, which only rattles him more. And for Morgan, his hot and cold behavior has her reinforcing her walls, but wishing he would tear them down at the same time. There’s a lot of push and pull, and while I wouldn’t say miscommunication, a definite LACK of communication keeps them from each other. There is a particularly poignant moment between Morgan and her father that I think is a great turning point for her, and it is equally sweet and heart breaking at the same time. The stalker story that propels the plot forward is engaging and interesting as well, not straightforward, so it makes for an even more interesting overall book because not only are you dying for this HEA, you really want to know who is stalking Morgan and how it’s going to play out - some pulse pounding moments there as well!

Overall a great steamy romance with great characters (love the Evans family!) and a plot that will keep you guessing. There are tropes for everyone here - single bed, forbidden romance (best friend’s sister), fake relationship, ex-Navy Seal/alpha protector. And I can’t wait to see which Evans brother will find love next!
