The plot was filled with fun and spice, and the writing captivated me. Yet, the character of Hermione felt off - suave. Was she bookish and bossy? Yes and yes. Did I like that she was confident, self assured, and comfortable in her own skin? Yes. What fell short of capturing the essence of the character for me was simply the “cool girl” vibe - the ideal from the “male gaze.” Nevertheless, an overall fun read!
Firstly - this is dialogue heavy, which at first threw me, but makes sense for these two given their personalities.
Second - while this sometimes felt OOC, the progression and the bantering was on point. The opening, when Harry is getting them on board, was priceless.
Sometimes confusing to me was the lack of mentions for other big names. For instance I think Hermione never seriously dated Ron here, nor Harry date Ginny, but Bill & Fleur are mentioned. And aside from a passing mention of Lucius in Azkaban, the whole Voldemort thing is never brought up.
So folks I think this is possibly the most well adjusted HP fic I've ever read. These chars are ACTUALLY having problems not related to the War or Death Eaters or anything.
Loved it.
Overall I can see why so many people rec'ed this, its oddly soothing and pleasant.
I enjoyed this one. Light hearted it, fake marriage, forced proximity, lots of dialogue, both aurors but not much actual work stuff was mentioned, it was more a background.
Sex scenes were fade to black and there wasn't much built up to their chemistry. Hermione was so open about eventually wanting sex with him. She didn't require feelings for him just the act itself and that he was tolerable since they had been kissing so much and not taking it further, she was getting pent up about it. She gained feelings for him as time went on. She was incredibly open about sex and liberal with showing public affection. Draco was more conservative and reserved.
Interestingly he was also an animagus. I enjoyed that part. His trust in her while he was an animal made the growth in their relationship more believable
