Mark Millar is the New York Times best-selling writer of Wanted, the Kick-Ass series, The Secret Service, Jupiter’s Legacy, Jupiter’s Circle, Nemesis, Superior, Super Crooks, American Jesus, MPH, Starlight, and Chrononauts. Como con el origen de Spiderman, este es para mí el más acertado, y es que Millar nunca defrauda. El dibujo, como con Spiderman, es quizá un poco demasiado de su tiempo y veinte años después es un tanto rancio como ninguna chica va vestida más del 50%, incluyendo la escena de Jean Grey en ropa interior porque telepatía.

Pero de nuevo, la historia es redonda, incluyendo cómo enlaza con el origen de Furia y los Vengadores. Me gusta que los relacionen, cosa que en el MCU no han hecho.

beli buku ini jam 23.15 saat menjelang pulang ke rumah, dimana malam telah hitam pekat dan dunia mulai sepi dari hiruk pikuk keramaian. komik hardcover itu tergeletak begitu saja di suatu lapak pinggiran kota metropolis ini, dimana pemiliknya sedang berkemas barang dagangan, sebelum senyap menguasai keadaan.
melayanglah semua sisa uang di kantong, setelah terlebih dahulu disisihkan buat ongkos nightrider dropping ke rumah. tapi saya senang dan tidak takut, walau kantong kosong, ada para mutan alias X-Men yang ikut bersama saya pulang ke rumah.
aahh malam menjadi cerah buat saya, walau tiada bintang bergayut di sudut langit. tidak terdengar lolongan anjing dan serigala, karena wolverine ada di genggaman saya.

A diferencia del Ultimate Spider-Man, Millar va con prisas. Presentación express de personajes muy chula pero después en 3 páginas Charles convence a los protas, les habla de su némesis y los manda de misión, todo muy atropellado. La historia muy entretenida, aunque ni entiendo ni veo justificadas las acciones de Mercurio.

El segundo arco para mi funciona mucho mejor. Hay desarrollo de personajes, buena trama, drama y mucha acción. También muy palomitero, pero más redondo.

El dibujo me ha gustado mucho, noventero pero bien. Los primeros planos tienen fuerza y la acción con espectaculares perspectivas y splashpages.

Recomendado. Una serie donde pasan cosas continuamente. De menos a más. 8/10

Edición: Tapa dura con lomo plano. Incluye portadas y bocetos. La traducción tiene cosillas (pistonudo?) y traduce nombres, el resto bien. Recomiendo evitar los fanáticos (y con spoilers) textos del editor.

No hay caso, ni en una relectura totalmente condescendiente añares después me termina de convencer esta visión de los X-Men de diálogos que pretenden ser cancheros pero no lo logran (y no es culpa de la traducción, leí algunos issues en inglés y era lo mismo) y un dibujo que pasa de pasable en los mejores capítulos (como el entintado por Joe Kubert) a sencillamente feo, desprolijo y narrativamente débil en la mayoría. Promedio para arriba porque tengo el recuerdo de que la cosa va mejorando de a poco y porque la edición de este coleccionable está bastante bien, al menos en relación precio/calidad.

Ultimátny vesmír mám veľmi rád. Nielen, že má človek šancu prečítať si moderné a aktualizované originy, ale aj príbehy a rôzne súvislosti sú trochu inak a tak má tento svet stále čím prekvapiť. Klasický X-Meni boli zaujímavý, trochu iný, ale to, čo mám na nich rád v klasickom vesmíre si priniesli sebou aj sem. Bavil ma Magneto, ale aj program Weapon X. Občas mi trošku nesedela kresba, ale nič závažné. A Nick Fury? Vedľajšia postava ale jej stvárnenie je skvelé.

Un cómic repleto de acción, con alguna que otra falta ortográfica. Me ha ido interesando a medida que iba leyendo por la tensión narrativa; sin embargo, siempre me capta más la psicología de los personajes (no hay mucho de esto) que las explosiones y peleas. Tampoco puedo pedir mucho si es de superhéroes, pero considero que hay cómics con los que conecto más. Tiene buenos toques de humor, pero hay que decir que sigue habiendo tintes sexistas.

Otra obra maestra de reconstrucción de la fábrica de las ideas. Ha cambiado tanto su composición esencial sin quitar su protagonismo y actualidad. Issues 1-6 "The Tomorrow People" 2.5/5. Really bland and sometimes reactionary writing that made me side entirely too much with Magneto and honestly dislike many of the main players.
Issues 7-12 "Weapon X" 3.5/5. Still only okay, but did better with creating somewhat likeable characters and the characters having consistent motives and ideas.

Dans ce premier cycle, on découvre encore une fois le professeur Xavier, Magnéto, et évidement les X-Men : Cyclope, Marvel Girl, Colossus, Iceberg, le Fauve et Tornade. Ils seront évidement rejoints (sans quoi l'équipe ne serait pas déséquilibrée) par un Wolverine forcément tourmenté.
Dans ce premier tome, leurs aventures les mettent aux prises avec un Magnéto rajeuni (par rapport aux films) et du coup nettement plus inquiétant, je trouve. Je ne dis pas qu'ils soit tendre dans le film, je dis juste que le Magnéto de cette BD est encore plus radical dans sa vision de l'humanité.
Ils se retrouvent aussi face aux agents de l'arme X, aventure que je trouve d'ailleurs beaucoup plus sombre encore que l'attaque de Magneto.
Tout cela fait de ces aventures une bien belle façon de rentrer dans l'univers des X-men, je trouve.

Pour quelqu'un comme moi qui ne connais rien des X-men à l'exception des films, je dois dire que c'est une bonne base pour commencer car avec cette série, l'histoire est repartie à zéro. Je n'ai donc pas à me casser la tête avec des personnages que je ne connais pas et des sous-histoires qui datent de plusieurs années.

J'aime bien les dessins mais la traduction est à chier. J'ai les premiers tomes en français, que j'avais acheté il y a quelques années mais pour le reste, je continuerai en anglais.

It's hard enough to keep track or stay on top of the plethora of alternate timelines in Marvel or DC comics. The Ultimate X-Men is another alternate timeline series.

It's hard for me not to think what's the real origin of each characters as I read along. However, the Ultimate X-Men is somewhat easier to follow. This particular series seems to be popular with gay comic freaks because there are some gay characters, such as Colossus. I mean, who would've thought of that!

Super great introduction the Ultimate X-men. My only complaint about this volume (and in a way it could be applied to all of the ultimate X-men series) things at time seemed to rushed. In this volume especially the first 20 pages or so. I wish they would have taken more time easing into things and introducing people and things one step at a time instead of bing bang boom here's the x-men lets fight.

Only got out of the library, but it is kinda hilariously bad in places. Some of the exposition is terrible - "What are you doing?" "I'm...[explanation of a complex maneuver, that you'd never have got from the art]". No idea if that was writer's or artist's fault. All that said, I might pick up others if I see them in the library, as mental chewing gum in lieu of anything better. I guess I should give 1 and a half stars.

It is a comic book so your milage may vary. But this compilation of the first 12 issues of Ultimate X-men actually started out really good. But soon the story quality fell to the traditional sloppy writing of most comic books. Reading the afterword was really entertaining where they talk about how the Ultimates was Marvel reconnecting to todays kids.

Tenía muchas ganas de leer algo de X-Men pero me daba miedo tener unas espectativas altas por las películas. Sin palabras con este inicio. Viñetas muy bonitas y relaciones de los personajes más que interesantes. Al final conseguirán engancharme a esta coleccion de Salvat.
