My name is Patricia Gibney and I’m from Mullingar, County Westmeath. Right in the heart of Ireland. Surrounded by lakes, Mullingar is damp and wet most of the year but when the sun shines it is a little piece of heaven on earth. I’ve lived here all my life. I’m widowed, seven years in May, but was married to Aidan since 1982. I’ve three children who keep me sane, or maybe keep the madness at bay, just a little bit! I say that because I am an artist and a writer. I started writing, for therapy, when Aidan died.

I secured an agent in January 2016 and she is fighting my corner in an effort to get my debut novel published.

Three years ago, I decided to get serious about it. I joined The Irish Writers Centre. Started doing courses. I love reading crime thrillers so it was obvious to me to start writing in the crime genre. And let me tell you, it is not easy. A crime novel needs to be tightly plotted and plotting is the bane of my life. I prefer to write straight off the top of my head. Oh, Oh. Feels good when writing but then comes the editing. I lost 20,000 words in the process. But at least I am proud to say I got it done.

I am now writing the second novel in the series, featuring Lottie Parker and a host of credible characters. They are all part of my extended family, you know the kind – people you love one minute and want to kill the next!

So join me on this journey and lets see where it leads us.

Twisted murders, dark drama, and a brutal ending comprise the fifth installment of the DI Lottie Parker series. This is a suspenseful, intriguing and, ultimately, heartbreaking read.

A serial killer targeting young boys is on the loose in Ragmullin, Ireland. When the corpse of a newborn baby is found, followed by the bodies of two young boys, DI Lottie Parker and team are assigned to the case. The investigation has a lot of moving and messy parts and quickly spins out of control. Adding to the mess is Lottie’s personal life, which creates tension and animosity within her team.

As always, Lottie is a hot mess. She is feeling the pressure from her new boss and struggling to maintain control over the team. Her relationship with Detective Lynch further deteriorates when she is found in a compromising position with Lynch’s husband. She and her partner, and sometimes lover, Marc Boyd are out of sync, as the two remain at a distance from one another. I do hope that their relationship moves forward in the next book, as their on/off status is getting old.

Tell Nobody can be read as a standalone, but I wouldn't recommend doing this. This is a character-driven series and the characters' backstories and complicated relationships take center stage. Therefore, I would advise reading this series from the beginning to fully appreciate all that happens.

I was torn up at the ending--it was unexpected and awful. I am hoping there is forward movement in the next book, as Lottie seems stuck in the same place as the last book, although her relationship with her mother seems to be on the mend. With that being said, I do LOVE this series and I am looking forward to seeing what’s next for Lottie Parker!

I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and Bookoutre in exchange for an honest review.

Wow, what a rollercoaster of a book! It started off at a cracking pace and never let up until the final pages.
It begins with a teenage girl stopping DI Lottie Parker outside her police station. The girl is covered in blood and says to Lottie "I killed him" before she collapses unconscious. A baby's body is soon found by two teenage boys fishing by the river, and one of those boys is Lottie's 15yo son Sean. The body of a young boy is then found after an important football game. Then another boy is found dead beside the lake. Lottie and her team have their work cut out for them with the bodies mounting up and pressure from Lottie's boss to get results. But are the cases related? There are many suspects, but no firm leads. And who is Sean's new friend?
"Tell Nobody" is a spellbinding thriller, you'll find you wont be able to put this one down!
My thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Well, Lottie’s patience hasn’t improved any with the start of book five. And she still hasn’t put the pieces of her personal life back together. She and the kids are living with her mother after their house burned down.

Lottie loves her kids but no one is giving her mother of the year awards. One phrase caught me though. “He was her son. She knew every hair on his head but had no idea of the thoughts that careened through his mind.” Hasn’t every parent of a teenager thought that on a regular basis?

All deaths are horrible but before Lottie knows it, she’s dealing with the death of three children, one a mere baby. The book is as well written as its predecessors. Characters are well fleshed out, descriptions vivid enough to picture the scenes. Lots of tension, fast paced action. Lottie can’t get a break, let alone time for food or sleep and you feel her anxiety. Her team is having difficulties interacting with lots of internal drama this time around.

I would not recommend reading this as a stand-alone as there several backstories that come into play.

My thanks to netgalley and Bookouture for an advance copy of this mystery.

This is my first foray into this popular crime series featuring DI Lottie Parker, set in Ragmullin in Ireland. Whilst obviously there are various backstories that I have not been privy to this, the fifth in the series, it still worked perfectly fine for me as a standalone. Lottie's home has burned down, and her children, Katie, Chloe, Sean and grandson, Louis, are temporarily residing with her mother, Rose, in the cramped and claustrophobic surroundings. A stranger, Captain Leo Belfield from the NYPD has arrived with an interest in Lottie. It all kicks off with the arrival of a confused and bloodied young woman at the police station muttering she thinks she killed him. She is taken to the hospital from where she disappears. As Lottie's team search for the woman, Sean is fishing with a friend when a baby's dead body is found in the water. A stressed Lottie, having to rely on Xanax pills, is to find herself in the midst of traumatic and harrowing investigations involving the murders of young boys in a community and families harbouring secrets, abuse, lies and a disturbed serial killer and more.

The murdered body of 11 year old Mickey is found, followed by that of another young boy with the same MO. Lottie's team try to chase down what connects the boys and their families, but leads are proving to be elusive. Acting Superintendent David McMahon is refusing to temper his dislike of Lottie, smothering her with paperwork and his insistent orders on the cases that are nothing but a hindrance and a burden. The police team dynamics and drama are a significant part of the story, with Kirby and Gilly's relationship, the pregnancy of DC Maria Lynch and her misapprehensions with regard to Lottie, then there are Lottie's mixed feelings and uncertainty regarding Boyd whose divorce has come through. There is Lottie's disturbing family history in which the troublesome journalist, Cynthia Rhodes is showing a little too much interest. In the meantime, it soon becomes clear that another young boy is in danger, and so is Lottie's family as the multiple threads begin to slowly connect in what turns out to be a desperately tragic finale.

I can understand why so many love this series, Lottie is a compelling central character, and her life and those of her police team, determined in their efforts to identify suspects, traumatised by the horror of what they encounter, is a major reason why this crime novel stood out for me. Gibney does not shy away in presenting their conflicts as well as their teamwork. The title of the book is particularly apt when the dark underbelly of a community and its families is exposed. This is gripping crime fiction with its twists, tensions and suspense, with a truly heartbreaking ending. Many thanks to Bookouture for an ARC.

This is a suspenseful intense read that will keep you on the edge of your seat...

This is the fifth book in the DI Lottie Parker series... The thing I love about this series is even though it is a police procedural it is very character driven...Lottie’s complex personal life is a central part of the series... along with the more personal relationships her team has with one another.... this really allows you the reader to feel a strong connection with the characters, and for me this just adds another layer and dimension to the story...

This book starts out with the murders of three children, one of them just a baby... even more terrifying these murders are way too close to home... with one of the victims being Lottie’s son Sean‘s friend Mikey... so who is killing young boys and leaving their bodies posed with wildflowers? Is it the same murderer? Is it a copycat? What could the possible motive be? Convinced that her son Sean and friends have some secrets they are not sharing, and worried he could possibly be the next victim, Lottie immerses herself fully into this case...

Lottie is a likable character even though her life is quite a hot mess... living with her mother after a fire is forcing her to repair that relationship... she is still on again off again with Marc, hoping there is some resolution with this in the next book? And she continues to piss off the higher ups! Not to mention all the bickering and conflict within the team.... and Lottie is still self-medicating, Lottie needs a good talking to buy a good friend! As much as I adore Lottie for who she is, a little character growth in the next book would be fabulous! This is a series that you read for the mystery and stay for the characters!

An intriguing captivating installment in this series with a tragic and heartbreaking end! Absolutely recommend two fans of the series, and if you have not read the series yet, what are you waiting for?

Is anyone really surprised that I dived right into this one? The Lottie Parker series is tied in first place with The Dublin Murder Squad and the D.D Warren series as my favorite police procedurals! Book 5 picks up with Lottie and her children counting down the days until their new home is ready and getting away from grandmother Rose. Lottie and Boyd are still doing their frustrating dance of being a couple. Lynch has been beaten by the green eyed monster and Gilly and Kirby are talking about taking that next step. But when a young girl stumbles into the garda station covered in blood and stating "I killed someone" and a boy's body is discovered, it looks like Lottie and her team may have more than they have bargained for in their job. If that isn't enough both Lottie's professional and personal life are about to get shaken up as a mysterious stranger arrives in Ireland and they are asking about Lottie.

So great storyline, stunning cover, and more eye catching taglines and this latest installment fits in nicely with the rest. My only request is that can Cynthia Rhodes and that Acting Superintendent get off Lottie's back. They're basically annoying mosquitoes and my teeth grind whenever they pop up!

Lastly, I just want to say that I cried, like ugly cried, and I am a bit angry with PG. But in an effort to post no spoilers, I am just going to say read it and go a little undone

Can't believe we are up to book 5 in this series. Lottie Parker and her team are back for more. I swear living in Ragmullin is like living in Midsomer... dangerous if you want to live! So much death in this Irish town...good job they have a crack team of detectives on the job.

This one was a tough read as it is kids that are the age of my kids being murdered. First Mikey Driscoll is found dead, a friend of Lotties son Sean. If that isn't bad enough he has just found a dead baby at the canal. Then another young boy turns up dead and the town is in panic mode. Lottie in her own way sets out to solve this case as well as that of the dead baby.

I really do enjoy this series, even though Lottie is definitely an acquired taste. Her family love her and are having their own dramas. I look forward seeing what happens next for them.

Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for my advanced copy of this book to read. All opinions are my own and are in no way biased

Detective Lottie Parker's life is never quiet and orderly. She and her her three kids and grandson are living with her mother following the fire that destroyed her house and they are all hanging out for the rental she's organised to be ready to move into. Not wanting to be home and distracted by work, she's neglecting her kids more than usual and has no idea how her teenage son, Sean spends his days. Definitely not a contender for Mother of the Year. Although she can escape to work every day, there is no respite there as she has the murders of a baby and two young boys to investigate with very few clues but a load of contacts to interview. Her boss, who would like nothing better than to get rid of her is putting her under pressure with his demands and she is surly with her team and particularly her partner Boyd. Poor Boyd - it's hard to know why he's still attracted to her!

There's a lot going on in this book, almost too much and a host of characters to keep track of and I would definitely recommend reading the first four books in the series to appreciate Lottie's backstory. It is a fast paced read with Lottie and her team racing all over the place as the story twists in new directions as the horrific nature of the motive for the killings emerges.

This is now the fifth in the Lotte Parker series of police procedurals set in a fictional city in the Midlands of Ireland. They are real time investigations that follow our central character throughout her day both at work and home. Life is hard in both places and the story does little to give her a break. She is a tough woman in a hard job with a family she knows she spends little time with. Her social life is no better and somehow, she seems to survive, her past, a poor diet, lack of sleep and complex cases. Her team are equally committed but her boss gives her a hard time.
In this novel, Tell Nobody, it is a story of secrets and the suppression of the truth across several characters. The book never focuses on one event for any length of time and quickly we read of a missing baby and the death of a young boy. The investigation is further complicated by a few witnesses who are less than cooperative, and DI Parker is frustrated at every turn not so much by a conspiracy of silence but a default position of each character to have aspects of lives hidden and when questioned are economic with the truth. The author toys with similar characteristics within Lottie’s own life and relationships.
I must admit I struggle at times reading these books. I am fully engaged with the protagonist’s own journey, but the structure of the novel and its central plotting is quite like what has gone before. Not so much formulaic but a repetitive structure. To the point where the separate stories all meld together in my mind and thinking. This is not to my person taste as I want to be surprised more rather than feeling each person described is holding back.
It just makes for a more laborious yet still compelling read and it has some major positives. The fictional Ragmullin is an interesting location; the police procedural is intense, the author, Patricia Gibney writes well and balances her plot revelations like a magician and Lottie is an absorbing central police detective. A must-read series.

Patinka man Gibney.

Lottie Parker's life gets more messier and crazier as these books continue. In this outing, the investigation is a little disturbing. I really don't want to give details because I don't want to ruin the book for other people. There's quite a lot of bitchiness between some of the characters though. Especially Lottie and another detective from the team. There's always the backstory of Lottie's personal life throughout the book. A character is introduced in this book that could make Lottie's life crazy but nothing much is resolved in this story. I assume we'll see more from this character in future books. Towards the end, something happens that made me tear up, which will have a lasting effect on another side character. The investigation was a good one, even if it was highly disturbing, but it was a surprise ending. I do wish that Gibney would stop having Lottie's kids involved in the investigations. It's time to stop using the characters in that way. At this rate, those kids will grow up to be f'd up! All in all, another good book by Gibney.

Murder, child abuse, drugs, family secrets and psychologically damaged characters turn up on just about every page in this book, the fifth featuring Ireland Detective Lottie Parker. Fairly early on I ran into an ongoing obstacle: A few too many characters and plot "angles" that made it a bit hard for me to keep track of who was who and how he or she was connected to which story line. I decided to just settle back and let my mind go with the flow, though, and before too long things started to fall into place. I've read only one book in this series (The Missing Ones, which I totally loved), and the writing I enjoyed when reading that one is here as well. It stands alone, but I'm sure I'd have felt more "clued in" had I read the other in-betweens. That said, I'm pretty sure die-hard fans who have followed the series from the start won't be disappointed.

For openers, an obviously disoriented and bloodied young woman wanders into the police station claiming she may have killed someone - then passes out and is transported to the hospital. It's clear she's just given birth; but before anyone can speak to her, she escapes. Not long thereafter, Lottie's not-yet-teenage son Sean and his friend find a dead newborn near the short where they've gone fishing (authorities assume, of course, that it belongs to the bloodied girl).

Following closely on the heels of that is the disappearance of a young socceer player - a close friend of Sean's - who in short order is found murdered. And just days later, another young boy is found murdered in similar fashion. All these cases end up on Lottie's plate, but a few personal issues get thrown into her mix (and added to my confusion) as well, such as moving into a new house with her family, an uncertain "romance" with another department detective, a jealous very pregnant co-worker, an overbearing boss and a mysterious man from her past.

Perhaps the only thing that gets resolved in the end is the identity of the murderer (I'd narrowed it down to two characters, one right on the button); otherwise, I'm left scratching my head with this question: Just how much blood can one woman lose before there's none left? The rest of the goings-on will, I assume, carry over to the next book, which I certainly hope to get my hands on. For now, thanks to the publisher, via NetGalley, for the opportunity to read and review this one.

So Lottie Parker is back. As slightly dysfunctional as ever, still not spending enough time with her kids, still not getting on with her mother, still antagonizing her superiors while arguing regularly with her team of detctives, and you know what? I couldn’t be happier to be back with her in her world.

I’m not going to do much if any of a synopsis of the story as I really don’t want to give away any spoilers, but suffice to say it involves murders and an intriquit plot.

Book 5 of the series and this is one of those very few series that just keeps giving and giving. The standard of this series doesn’t dip at all and if anything it’s getting better as it evolves. That’s coming from a very high starting point as well.

I love these books so much and the character Lottie Parker. I love how she is a brilliant detective but is so flawed at the same time. It makes her more human and very very easy for me to empathize with and like. She’s such a well fleshed out and rounded character at this stage. I read a lot of police procedural/thriller series and it can be hard to keep track of which series is which, but I was a couple of chapters into this book and was immediately familiar with who I was reading and the other books came straight back into my head.

The characters in this book really are fantastic. Of course we have the regulars of the team who are all well developed now, but all the new characters in the town of Ragmullin who are involved in the cases(and there’s a lot of them) are instantly memorable and so well written.

Speaking of well written, the story is just fantastic. No other word for it. A great complex plot with a large cast of characters and suspects but in the hands of such a talented author, it takes little or no effort to keep track of and the chapters roll off the virtual tongue with ease. There’s no filler here. No issue with pacing. No issue with plot devices. No issues full stop.

The final third of the book felt like someone had pressed the accelerator on my reading as the tension and story was ramped up to near breaking point. It was like I was being magnetically pulled towards the end of the book at great speed with no say in the matter.
The tension and page turn ability was unparalleled and I’m not ashamed to say more than a tear was shed by me at certain points.

If you hadn’t guessed by now I adored this book. When you get a few books into a series you are always afraid that it may be the one that dips a little or “doesn’t quite do it”. The opposite is present here. Possibly the strongest book in the series. I doubt I will read or enjoy a book more this year. It was just simply fantastic.

Many thanks to Netgalley, Bookouture and Patricia Gibney for an Arc in exchange for an honest review.

Tell nobody is the 5th instalment in the Lottie Park series. She is streill messed up as ever and she is now living with her mother Rosie, with her kids, after the family home burnt down. They can’t wait for the new house to be finish, so they can get away from her meddling.
The story starts with Hope Cotter turning up at Ragmullin Police Station losing a lot of blood and screaming “I Killed him”. Later Lottie’s son Sean and his friend go fishing and they find a body of a new-born baby dead in the canal. Are these two incidents linked in anyway?
After scoring the winning goal and finish eating the celebratory McDonalds meal with his team mates Mikey Driscoll makes his way home to be found dead the next day arranged with flowers around his body. Lottie is leading the investigation with the rest of her team, Boyd, Charlie and Lynch and she knows that she has a serial killer on her hands. There is a race to find the killer before more bodies turn up.
This is another gripping instalment in this series. This story is more character driven then before and it was a bit more sensitive as it dealt with Children, drugs and abuse. It had a lot of twists and turns that keeps you guessing throughout the story and I really enjoyed the twist at the end. The only question I had at the end of the story is what is happening to Lottie and Boyd as they seemed to get closer in the story. I suppose I will have to wait for the next instalment, Can’t wait.

It's amazing how captivated I am with this series considering I don't care for the lead character, Detective Lottie Parker. She is not someone I would like to sit down and have a cup of tea with although to be fair it would likely be a Xanax and a shot of whisky with her. She has a pill addiction, although it seems under control in this book, drinks too much and only seems to interact with her children when she sends her children to assist her in the investigation of a murderer of a newborn and two young boys.

As the bodies start adding up, the pressure adds up. She is also rebuilding her house after it was destroyed in a fire, has a strange American show up claiming a relationship, living with her step-mother, occasionally spending time with her kids, having a colleague accuse of her of fooling around with her husband and trying to build a relationship with her work partner. Whew!

This is a complex story that I don't want to give away too much. The ending is spectacular and I never saw it coming. I saw part of it but when the entire picture emerges it is mind blowing. The author is quite gifted at plotting and how terrific is she to be keep you interested in an unlikable character and actually care about her?

If you like an action packed story that keeps you on the edge of your seat, this is the one for you. I can't wait for the next one. Thanks to Net Galley and the publisher and author for a copy of this one.

This is an excellent series. Yes another one. This fifth instalment is quite bleak and disturbing and puts Lottie's son Sean in danger adding to the usual suspense. Lottie herself needs to get her act together though because her domestic dramas threaten to bog down an otherwise brilliant series.

One hot summer evening, eleven-year-old Mikey Driscoll is on the way home from playing with friends. Two days later, his broken body is discovered on a bed of wild flowers by some local teenagers.

The case is assigned to Detective Lottie Parker and this time it’s personal. A close friend of her son Sean, Mikey was from the run-down Munbally estate on the other side of town. Sean tells his mother that Mikey was behaving normally before he died but Lottie can’t help but feel that her son is keeping something from her …

Then days later, another boy is found dead, surrounded by wild flowers next to a beautiful lake.

My Thoughts:
I will put the warning out there that there is abuse and children are murdered. So for those that can't read something like that then this book is not for you.
So many families are affected by this and sports coaches. On top of that there is a man from NYPD looking for Lottie. She wants nothing to do with him. This is book #5 of this series and I did not read the other 4. I did not feel that had to either. I really liked Lottie and her family. I was scared for her son Sean who was trying to figure out what was going on.
I received this from NetGalley and Bookouture for an honest review.

I was excited to read Tell Nobody because I had heard the Lottie Parker series compared to Tana French's police procedural books and I am a huge fan of French's work. Gibney's book and series have lots of great reviews but unfortunately, I did not end up liking this book at all. What I enjoy about Tana French's work is her characterization and insights into the human condition within the detective format. In Gibney's book, there are too many characters and there is shallow characterization. We learn the most about the main detective Lottie but she comes across as an unpleasant person and I don't really care to know more about her. I had trouble making myself read the book and by the end, I wish I hadn't. There are several extremely disturbing sub-plots that I wish I could scrub from my brain. Some of the police procedures did not seem realistic, i.e. instant test results. I can understand that if you were following the series of books, it would be interesting to see what happens in the lives of the main characters and perhaps this mitigates the other aspects of the book. I received an electronic ARC copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I would like to thank Netgalley and Bookouture for an advance copy of Tell Nobody, the fifth novel to feature Detective Lottie Parker of the Ragmullin An Garda Siochána.

When a blood spattered young woman staggers into the station saying she thinks she killed him Lottie wants to investigate but the young woman, Hope Cotter, is rushed to hospital and Lottie is distracted by her son, Sean, finding a dead baby in the canal. Are these events linked? Lottie isn't sure but before she can dig deeper Hope disappears and a young boy is murdered.

I thoroughly enjoyed Tell Nobody which is a drama filled investigation with plenty of twists and turns and barely a dull moment. It is told mostly from Lottie's point of view but Ms Gibney widens the reader's perspective with the views of other characters and, occasionally, that of the murderer. It seems to work well and flows seamlessly although the killer's thoughts are fairly superfluous and standard in their hints of madness. The upside is that there is no hint of identity. I like the construction of the novel which builds slowly as Lottie and the team pull the facts and suppositions together. I freely admit to having no clue initially about what was going on and living the investigation with the team and even when I had a grip on the basics the perpetrator's identity remained well hidden among several likely contenders until the denouement. It's good stuff and definitely holds the reader's attention.

Lottie's life is still in a mess, no house after it burned down and no job satisfaction with Superintendent MacMahon micro managing her workload. He is a poor specimen, a bully ready to take the credit with no input so I'm still waiting for him to get his comeuppance (hope it's soon). Lottie, on the other hand, is a very sympathetic character. She is not all sweetness and light or ruthless efficiency as she makes mistakes and can be quite snippy when pushed but she's very human and it's easy to identify with her as a woman trying to deal with her mother and juggle single motherhood with a demanding career. She's very well portrayed and has become one of my favourites.

Tell Nobody is a good read which I have no hesitation in recommending.

"Negandos, užtrauktos ant manęs ir mano artimųjų, privalo baigtis. Mano sielą draskantys demonai tuojau bus pasotinti.

This book by Patricia Gibney was a difficult read as there is are murder victims, and sadly, they are children. The first child found in D.I. Lottie Parker's newest case was eleven-year-old Mikey Driscoll. After a soccer match and a treat at McDonald's, Mikey never made it home.

Sadly, his broken body was discovered. Young Mikey was a friend of Lottie's son Sean. Shortly after, fifteen-year-old Sean, and his friend Barry, were drinking and fishing, The boys tragically discover the body of a baby. Was it a coincidence that a teen girl stumbled into the police station claiming "I think I killed him"? As if Lottie and her team do not already have their hands full, yet another body of a child is found.

While Lottie is searching for the teen, who after being sent to the hospital, managed to disappear, she finds a powerful connection to the two dead boys. At the top of each boy's head was a wreath of flowers. So, Lottie begins her investigation with the parents of the children, their friends, and even her son, Sean.

Clues are hard to come by, as there are a lot of secrets and several suspects. Will Lottie be able to act quickly enough before another child is found? And, of course, she is worried about her son Sean. What a thrilling story! As mentioned above, this was difficult, but it was in no way gruesome. Only the facts were revealed and the focus of the story was on the investigation.

Occasionally, in the pages of this book, readers catch a glimpse of the killer's perspective. Even so, the twists and turns were numerous and in no way was I able to figure out the identity of the killer. Tell Nobody is the fifth book in the series. I just came into the series, but was able to easily follow the story. There was a backstory of Lottie and her family, and how they came to live with her mother. In this story, Lottie grew close to one of her detectives, Boyd. I do wish I had read the earlier stories so I could have seen how they worked together prior to this book.

The previous titles in the Detective Lottie Parker series are, The Missing Ones, The Stolen Girls, The Lost Child and No Safe Place. The next book in the series is Final Betrayal, which has already been released.

Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC to review in exchange for my honest opinion.

4.5* --> 5*

Ragmullin once again faces the threat of a serial killer when a young boy is found murdered. Since the victim was a friend of Lottie’s son, Sean, this case is hitting a little close to home. Things take a turn for the worse when another young boy is found dead a few days later. It’s obvious this killer isn’t finished yet but could Sean be in danger as well?

Meanwhile, a young girl enters the police station covered in blood, uttering the chilling words “I think I killed him”. But before Lottie has a chance to talk to her, the girl mysteriously disappears. Did she really kill someone? If so, who? And why did she run?

There’s always something especially harrowing about a crime story involving children and this one is no different. It makes for some uncomfortable reading at times and the disturbing events nearly broke my heart into tiny pieces. I couldn’t at all figure out who the killer was or what their motivation was all about. The ultimate reveal left me reeling and quite sad.

Of course there are a few twists and turns, a few dead ends and characters acting so suspiciously you can’t do anything else but eye them warily. We’re also faced with the hardships of living on an estate and the desperate attempts someone will make to get away and find a better life.

It’s really hard to believe that Tell Nobody is already the fifth instalment in the DI Lottie Parker series. By now, Lottie and her team feel like family and just like some family members do, these characters also often get on my nerves. Not just Lottie, but Boyd and Lynch as well this time around. I was all set to offer them all chill pills. Well, maybe not Lottie though 😉.

She is still a bit of a mess, still failing at the patience skill (I can totally relate!), still doesn’t quite have motherhood down to a fine art. But she’s also still fiercely determined and even though I sometimes feel like grabbing her by the collar and shaking her about a bit, I can’t stop but liking her immensely.

As its predecessors, Tell Nobody makes for one gripping and disturbing read. Always compelling, always engrossing and always addictive, this is a series you should definitely keep an eye on. I can’t wait for more from Lottie and her team!

I always get unbelievably excited whenever I know one of popular, bestselling author Patricia Gibney's books is due to be published, so when I read the synopsis for this, her fifth title in the Detective Lottie Parker series, I was eager to jump right in! Was it all it was cracked up to be, or did it crush me and my expectation and smash my heart into a million pieces? Well... I'm pleased to report that this another FANTASTIC addition to the series featuring the Ragmullin An Garda Siochána aka the Republic of Ireland's police service.

'Tell Nobody' was an ori9inal, interesting and thoroughly entertaining and enjoyable read. I always look forward to her books and have never been disappointed so far touch wood! The twists, turns and red herrings are plentiful and unpredictable in nature and coupled with a fast pace this made for a thrilling plot! The point-of-view is primarily that of Lottie but the author also includes some of the other characters and the killers perspectives too. Sometimes this chopping and changing can drastically affect the way a story works, but here Gibney weaves each of the POV's together seamlessly adding further interest to the tale. Gibney masterfully ratchets up the tension right up to the conclusion where there is a staggering crescendo, but right up until the reveal the murderer's identity is kept well hidden. This is one of the most fundamental requirements in a thriller but so many books cannot seem to manage it, there is never any such issues with Ms Gibney!

A highly addictive, immersive and realistic story that gave me goosebumps when I discovered some of the wonderfully jaw-dropping surprises! A must-read for any crime buff and a great addition to anyone's library. I literally cannot wait for book number six!

Many thanks to Bookouture for an ARC. I was not required to post a review, and all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

The Lottie Parker series is one of my absolute favourites and Patricia Gibney has surpassed herself here with Tell Nobody. An outstanding and gripping read that I couldn’t get enough of, this contains everything I want from a crime thriller and more.

Lottie is a fantastic character and one that I have thoroughly enjoyed following over the course of this series. Her personal life always plays a part in these stories and she is a character that I and others probably feel that we know quite well. I like the fact that she openly struggles (perhaps not to her colleagues, but to us the readers) and isn’t this perfect detective but one who is inherently flawed with real emotions and those emotions become palpable as the story progresses and more and more things effect her mentally and emotionally. I can’t foresee a time I’ll tire reading about Lottie and I am already eagerly awaiting the next instalment.

In terms of the plot of Tell Nobody it is really hard to talk about it but it truly is a first class crime mystery. The plot is so intricately woven that I could only sit back and admire the way in which Patricia told this particular story. It deals with some hard-hitting and impactful situations that will certainly leave an impression on anybody who reads this book. It’s a fast-paced tale that barely gives the reader time to take a breath which is why I had it read in no time at all. One more chapter resulted in another hour glued to this story. I will not rehash the plot except to say that I had no idea who was ultimately responsible for what went on in these pages and when the big reveals came I was stunned. Crime writing rarely gets better than this.

Patricia Gibney only gets better with each book that she writes and if you are a crime fan yet to discover this wonderful series of books then you really are missing out. I cannot wait for book six.

What did I think of this book? It was disappointing and may well be my last of this series, even though I’ll be sad to say goodbye. I’m not sure how much more Patricia Gibney thinks Lottie’s son, Sean can take but I’ve certainly had enough. It would be very gratifying to see Lottie and Boyd working on a crime that didn’t include the Parker family. They are in dire need of some healing time before they all end up having psychotic episodes! Move it along, Patricia, new ideas puleeese!

Perskaičiau ir nenusivyliau šią 5 jos išleista knygą. 📔🥰
Pasakojimas prikausto nuo pat pradžių. Itin skoningai gvildenamos ypač jautrios temos. Iki pat paskutinio puslapio spėliojau, kas kaltininkas.
Įvykiai tiesiog veja vienas kitą.

Nekantriai laukiu naujos dalies... 📚❤️
