... for a murder.

After the nightmare of last weekend … oh, and the one before that, Felicity was hoping for things to run smoothly. However, an unpredicted storm cuts them off from the mainland before all the guests and staff can arrive.

That’s a big enough problem for a person trying to impress a prince. But when a guest is found hanging from the rafters, it becomes clear there is a killer in their midst.

Can Felicity employ Buster the bulldog and Amber the cat to help her again?

Aided by her loyal assistant, AKA her ninja niece, Mindy, the team of four have no choice but to solve their way out of this one.

Let's start this off with an invitation to get some FREE books. No, you didn't read that wrong, we are talking about multiple free books. I love giving away free books because once people delve into the fast-paced mystery thrills I write, they go on to buy lots more.

All I need from you is an email address to send them to. Here's the link you need - https://mailchi.mp/fd47a6eb4ae5/patri...

When I wrote my first novel, Paranormal Nonsense, I was a Captain in the British Army. I would love to pretend that I had one of those careers that has to be redacted and in general denied by the government and that I have had to change my name and continually move about because I am still on the watch list in several countries. In truth though, I started out as a mechanic. Not like Jason Statham, sneaking about as a contract killer, more like one of those greasy gits that charge you a fortune and keep your car for a week when all you went in for was a squeaky door hinge.

At school, I was mostly disinterested in every subject except creative writing, for which, at age ten, I won my first award. However, calling it my first award suggests that there have been more, which there have not. Accolades may come but, in the meantime, I am having a ball writing mystery stories and crime thrillers and will claim to have more than a hundred books forming an unruly queue in my head as they clamor to get out.

Now retired from the military, I live in the south-east corner of England with a pair of lazy sausage dogs. Surrounded by rolling hills, brooding castles, and vineyards, I doubt I will ever leave, the beer is just too good.

Tying the Noose by Steve Higgs is the 2nd book in the Felicity Phillips Investigates series. Wedding planner Felicity Phillips is running a celebrity wedding on a private island, when they are cut off by an unexpected storm and the photographer is found hanged in the bridal suite. A fun book with Felicity's pets Amber and Buster once again involved in the investigation. Felicity is able to communicate with her pets adding to the fun. Mindy, her ninja niece, and Nick, her private investigator friend are also on hand to help with the investigation. An entertaining and enjoyable cozy mystery.

Tying The Noose

OK. I'm really starting to get into this series! I usually figure out who-dun-it a long time before the author tells who it is! Not so with Mr. Higgs though! IDK how many times I was wrong! I still hadn't figured it out until I was half a word before the reveal!! I get such a kick out of Felicity's conversations with her animals! Too bad, I reckon my animals never want to talk to me!

I enjoyed this book. I love the way the cat and dog get involved in the investigation, I would say help but I am not sure it is entirely helpful, it's certainly amusing though. There is also the fun added element that they can talk to Felicity. There are a lot of characters which results in a lot of suspects, unless they get killed off of course. There is high body count in this book but it is a cosy mystery, so it's not graphic and they all play a part in the cleverly twisting mystery. A number of clues are dropped for if you are clever enough to pick up on them, I did guess the killer but definitely missed some of the clues. It's a book I would listen to again and with the ending set up nicely for the next book I will be listening to book three in this fun quirk mystery series as well.
Felicity is a wedding planner for the rich and famous and planning a wedding on a private island should stand her in good stead for being asked to plan the royal wedding, especially if things go off without a hitch. Things don't go to plan when the day before the wedding a storm hits the island, keeping everybody trapped. Then the photographers body is found in the bridal suite and another one in a cupboard. It quickly becomes apparent that they are all trapped with a kill, is the killer finished of is there more bodies to come? With the police stuck on the main land and unable to arrive until the storm blows over its up to Felicity, her dog who thinks he is a super hero, her cat that won't do anything unless she gets something in return and her ninja niece to work out who the mystery body in the cupboard is, unmask a killer and make sure the two grooms are ready to say there "I do's".
I liked the narrator. She really makes the story enjoyable by using a number of different voices for the characters, I especially liked the dogs when he was in hero mode.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

If You Can Figure Out Who Done It, Consider Yourself James Bond!

I started reading this around midnight and could not put it down, really! It is now 7 AM and I never slept a wink. This excellent book drew me in and since i could not figure out the killer, i just kept reading. There are so many plot twists that it will keep you reading till you find out who the real killer is. This time Felicity is the wedding planner to the stars, again. This wedding is to take place on a private island that you can only get out to for a few hours at low tide when a causeway appears. Felicity, a wedding planner to the stars, her niece Mindy, her "talking" dog Buster & her extremely stuck up "talking" cat Amber expect this to be a fun weekend. The two grooms getting married are celebrities and it is to be an exciting celebrity fill weekend. That is until the first scream is heard throughout the castle, followed closely by the gasps as they look into the room to find a.....you will just have to read this excellent book to find out!!

A wedding like no other

This is my second meeting with Felicity the wedding planner and her bulldog and cat with whom she is able to have hilarious conversations. Stuck on an island during a fierce storm, a murderer is loose and reducing the wedding company one by one. Felicity must solve the mystery and catch the murderer, because the police are unable to make it through the storm surge. With a little help from her faithful bulldog who wants to be called Devil Dog, her laid-back cat and ninja niece, Mindy, Felicity pulls the clues together…but do they lead to the right culprit? You’ll have to read this funny, face-paced mystery for yourself! I can’t wait to see what they get up to next!

Felicity Philips (aka Patricia Fisher, Jr) can’t seem to get a wedding to go off smoothly. That’s not good for a wedding planner of high profile weddings.

It’s the day before the big wedding and she already has two murders on her hands. Talk about putting a kink in plans.

It doesn’t get much better, or even better at all. It’s a good thing she has her niece Mindy and her two pets, Amber and Buster to help her out. Much to Felicity’s dismay Vince, a PI, also puts in an appearance.

Thank you, Mr. Higgs, for another delightful series. I’m looking forward to another Felicity Philips book.

Another story with a lot of hilarious stuff involving the Devil Dog and Amber the cat. They are incredibly funny, they argue so much - like two siblings, and are always trying to surpass the other with their will to solve murders and find the culprit. As always, Steven Higgs, delights the reader with a well ploted and told story of a convoluted wedding and its weird guests! Download the book and have a good laugh! Entertaining and easy to read!
As part of the writer´s ARC team I downloaded a free copy of this book and this is my honest review.

Yeah, no, this series isn't going to fly with me.  Although the mystery itself was pretty convoluted and sufficiently "mysterious" and I like Felicity and the by-play with her dog and cat, I DO NOT like nor can I condone the character of Vince Slater.  He is abusive in the extreme.  His attentions to Felicity are unwanted.  I would have him prosecuted for assault (showing up in her room and then exposing himself!).  So sorry Mr. Higgs, this book series is getting a hard pass from me.

Felicity has a wedding to plan. It’s on a private island. A sudden storm seems to have cut them off from the mainland. And then somebody is found dead. Soon Felicity and her niece Mindy are investigating another murder. And Felicity’s dog and cat are helping again. There were fun characters and lots of animal antics in this story. And a murder mystery to solve. I listened to the audiobook and really enjoyed the narration.

Killer
After the nightmare of last weekend … oh, and the one before that, Felicity was hoping for things to run smoothly. However, an unpredicted storm cuts them off from the mainland before all the guests and staff can arrive.
This a convoluted story about murder. I absolutely loved it. Felicity, Buster, Mindy, and Amber can't solve this mystery or can they.
I borrowed this book from Kindle Unlimited. This in no way affects my opinion of this book.

Felicity Phillips is my least favorite Steve Higgs character but I enjoyed her adventures anyway. It was someone difficult to keep all the characters straight at first but I eventually got them sorted out. Lots of clues and many red herrings but it all comes together at the end.

I received an ARC copy of the book in return for an honest review.

Another rollercoaster of fun

This book was a other hit. I stop everything I am doing when a new book by this author comes out because I know it will always be a great read. Every time I thought I had it figured out who the murderer was, another twist discounted my theory. Thank you again Mr. Higgs for another fun book.

While I normally enjoy the Higgs books tremendously, I found this one to be a bit tedious. Lots of dead bodies but not much excitement.

Phyllis is organizing the wedding of two gay men on an island isolated by a storm and a causeway covered or lashed by waves. First, the photographer dies then others start dropping like flies. It is easy to figure out who dunnit.

Must READ

Steve Higgs is a great mystery writer. In fact, too good! I could not put the book down. Every time I thought I could stop to go to bed or get something done he draws you in for more. Each chapter has you on your toes. Felicity and her pets are a riot. I love talking animals. And the handsome private investigator, Vince is a plus. Can't wait to read the third book.

A page turner:

I loved this second book of this series. It's fun who done it plus Buster and Amber her pets and side kick. I would recommend this series to my sister who seems to read the same books I read. We have the same taste in books. Plus of course my dear friend's that's why I have rated this cute cozy mystery a five star.

Murder island

It was a dark and stormy night, suddenly a scream shatters the celebration, and a murder is revealed.
Steve Higgs, if you are reading this review, I did figure out the murderer prior to the great reveal but, not all of the facts. I think this is one of your best books yet! Well done sir!

How can I be so wrong?

I enjoyed this one as much as the other one. I was of course, totally wrong as to the killer. I will never make a competent detective since I missed all the clues. I was very happy with the inclusion of the cat, Amber, into the narrative. Heading for the next book.

Great Mystery

I really enjoyed reading the second book in this mystery series. I liked how Felicity, her niece & Victor along with her dog & cat helped to solve the mystery. I also liked Felicity can hear her pets voices & can talk to them. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading these types of mystery (investigation) books.

Murder, mayhem and a wedding! It all falls on Felicity to handle. Add to that a stormy night and we have a perfect setting for exciting and scary scenes. Captivating characters and clever dialogue keep you guessing in this fast-paced and intriguing story. Very Highly Recommended.

Another hit in the Felicity Phillips series.  A very good mystery, with a lot of L.O.L humor ( especially regarding Vince!), and an excellent, albeit convoluted path to whodunit.
As always, I definitely recommend these entertaining books by Steve Higgs.

Although bodies are dropping everywhere, it is still a light cosy mystery. Perfect for anybody who is aware of the characteristics of cats and dogs.

Enjoyable

I enjoyed this story, but it seemed overly long. Maybe it’s just me. I like Ms Fisher’s cruise stories the best, but haven’t sampled Mr Higgs’ other stories yet. I’ll keep reading though .

Hard to figure out “who done it.”

Higgs, once again, has combined humor with a murder mystery. The communication between dog, cat and Felicity helps to solve the mystery, but not until several wrong turns are taken.

I bet you can not laugh out loud

I like that the real murderer is not revealed until the very near the end. I like that the action is pretty fast paced. But the best part is when I am laughing so hard and trying not to wake the rest of the family with my snorts and choking.
