Jon’s newfound abilities and shocking revelations about magic combine to make another epic installment in the series. Doing his best to fight Rohaer, protect his friends, and improve his magic, Jon works harder than ever. I found myself glued to the book, chapter after chapter, rooting for him all the way.

As always, the character development and plot is exciting and surprising. We see new sides of the demigods I never expected would be explored. Whatever you might’ve thought was coming, throw those expectations out the window! New relationships bring both trust issues and hope. As Jon struggles to figure out who to place his faith in, the stakes continue to rise. Rohaer’s plans come to light, with Valinox leading the way. His magic seems only to become more powerful, making him a terrifying opponent. With each new turn, I became more attached to characters new and old, and pretty terrified of what the outcome might be! With such an intricate and crazy plot, I have no idea what to expect for book 5. I can’t wait to see what happens next!

I highly recommend this series for anyone who is a fan of magic, adventure, and fantasy. If you’ve read Narro’s other works, you know you won’t be disappointed! This next book is absolutely worth the read if you’ve started the series. Before you even finish it, I’m sure you’ll be dying for the next.

Yes, 5 stars. I have to tip my hat to Mr. Narro. True, there were pieces that I didn't like, but that was because the good guys were not using their resources very effectively. OK, it's mostly battles and tactics and I do have some experience in that area so it was painful to "see" mistakes being made, but HEY! - war is mankind's most difficult endeavor, .. .. unless you want to get philosophical and argue that peace is the toughest endeavor.

Mr. Narro, if you'd like to discuss any of those topics over a glass of bourbon, let me know.

The characters continued to develop their magical abilities and Jon got back on track to try to discover new techniques, which is my fav part. I also really did enjoy the developing relationship(s) which were nicely done, by the way.

The stage is nicely set for a blockbuster final volume - which I have purchased and am now devouring.

Do NOT try to rad this book without reading the previous books, it will not be very fun.

The fourth of five books. This takes place immediately after book three. The battle against Rohaer hots up, now that Failina is forced to stop her snowstorm, which prevented their troops from attacking Lycast. As the far larger army of swordsmen and dark sorcerers head towards Lycast, the demigods learn unknown truths behind the magic that they use as the evil demigod Valinox demands that they surrender or else.
After a small success, Jon Oklar has a cunning plan which will reap rewards if it works and may kill him if it does not. It succeeds but Valinox is now livid with anger, leading to the battle against the two armies starting. Though outnumbered, the king's army and magicians give a good account of themselves, as does Valinox, but then the traitorous rich families who want to take over rule of Lycast attack the King, to gain his kingdom. The battle is finally over for now but the king must fight the traitor's army as well as Rohaer.

There’s a whole lot going on in this book. Nonstop action. But idk why I found Jon a little annoying in this one or maybe rash and arrogant are the better words. Can’t wait to start the next one. Oh yes and Simon Vance was incredible as always. It’s like these stories were meant to be narrated by only him.

Enjoyed, great story and series

I have been enjoying this series and am sad that there is only one book left. The world and storyline have been consistent and very well written. Great read!

It started of great, but the story is becoming sloppy and the hormones have been cranked up.
At some point when you have a flawless gary stu MC, who everyone is either in awe of or in love with, or both, things start to seem uninteresting to me.

Fun YA series

This is a fun read, characters aren’t too deep, but there’s a playful camaraderie that carries through. Installments are short, but easy reading.

Very good

What a great ending! All the fighting and at the very end a new twist that makes you get the next book to see how it all ends.

Great book

It’s an amazing book. Though make sure to read the others in the series first. Make sure you are at least 13 before reading this book!

Enjoyable enough as an "in between" book. Easy. Simple. Ok. The MC is a ridiculous Mary Sue. It's cute and fun but not great.

This book was MUCH better than book 2 and book 3 - not nearly as much repeating of internal dialogue and overall, the plot actually moved along at a fairly decent pace. I was rather hopeful that this would be the last book but alas, it is not. There is supposed to be one more book, though I personally feel that, if certain things had been wrapped up properly, this could've and should've been, the last one.
