Denver #3

Keeping Harmony

Rate this book
She’s my cousin.
A cousin through marriage, not blood, but the family won’t see it that way.
And in my world, family means everything. At least...I always thought so.

Being part of a large mafia family is my right, my duty, and my calling.
Adopted at fifteen by my uncle, I became a Sabino.
Everything I am is because of how they trained me.
I’m a man with only one weakness…her.

Now she’s in trouble because she’s spoiled, impulsive…intoxicating. When the situation gets out of hand, I know I have to help her. Which is a terrible idea.
Because I don’t know how much longer I can resist her…

*Keeping Harmony is a full-length enemies-to-lovers forbidden romance that is intended for mature readers. This is book three in the Denver Series and should be read after Beautifully Broken. If you are not a fan of morally grey alphaholes or sassy, feisty females, then you should keep scrolling. This book will contain themes that some readers may find triggering or offensive, such as dark themes, sexual/violent content, excessive swearing, and smouldering heat. If you’re still here and interested, buckle up, it’s going to be a bumpy ride.

Keeping Harmony is the third and final book in Eve L. Mitchell’s Denver Series, which follows step-cousins Cameron and Harmony, and the mafia world they live in.

Cameron and Harmony's story has been long awaited (at least for me it has), and it’s one that delivers.

This story is different to the first two books in the series, as it takes the next step into making this a full mafia romance. Each book had hints of the mafia underworld and the main characters' connections, which has increased throughout the series. But this book brings you right into the ring of all the deep dark secrets and on a different level to Beautifully Broken.

There’s a strong sense of family values and loyalty in this story, whilst they might not be full of good intentions, it’s still a strong statement throughout. Ultimately family comes first, even in a world filled with secrets, lies and betrayal, and in an instant that could all change.

As expected from Eve L. Mitchell’s storytelling, there are twists that will shock you, and make you pause for a moment to fully soak in. But these twists are meaningful to the overall plot, and always seem to arrive at the exact moment you don’t see it coming. Oh and the emotional frustration at times is so high, that I found myself having to slow down when reading to savour the story being told - because it’s just that good!

Cameron is a no nonsense type of guy, who’s actions speak louder than words. Along with being strong, determined and fiercely protective. He might not be as scary as Raphe, but he definitely holds his own. Whereas Harmony is immature, reckless and perhaps a little forgotten with an air of innocence at times. Harmony’s character growth is well written though, and you could almost say that she’s definitely not the same character from the beginning of the book to the end, and in a way neither is Cameron.

Cam has seen through the façade that Harm has put on for years, and the attraction they have towards one another is simmering until it boils over and there's no turning back. But the spiteful comments and hatred runs deep, really that’s what seems to fuel these two even more.

The story does take a little step into the taboo/forbidden romance genre, but it’s clearly expressed that these two are not blood related. Forbidden - depends on which character's opinion you want to take. Taboo - a smidgen. But all of this makes the story what it is and builds the sexual tension between the two main characters. It’s also perfectly captured due to the story being written with dual POV’s from both Cam and Harm.

Overall this story delivered on everything that you would have expected from these two characters and the relationship previously hinted at, along with a deeper dive into the mafia world of the Sabino family.

As Keeping Harmony is part of the Denver series, I highly recommend reading Her Greatest Mistake and Beautifully Broken first. In particular Beautifully Broken, as there is character crossover which I felt was important to be read first to get a true understanding of these characters and the world already created.

There are some potential triggers to be aware of as well, and these are briefly mentioned in the blurb and beginning of the book itself.

Favourite quote that sums up this story:
“One of these days, I was either going to f**k her or k**l her. H**l, some days she made me want to do both at the same time.”

Side note:
Whilst it’s noted that Keeping Harmony is the third and final book in the Denver series, there’s definitely potential for more from this world, or maybe even a novella from Finn. As the author has a knack for creating that next character that peaks the interest of readers, and for me, Finn is that character.

Eve is a master at world building. I feel like I know all the players and the places, but not what the heII was happening. There were so many twists and turns, back room deals and curveballs, it was something new keeping me on my toes with each page. Kudos to the author for the complex characters and creative storyline.

When I heard there was a third book in this series I got so excited because beautifully broken was one of my favorite books in 2021. I was so ready to dive right back into this series and I'm so happy that I enjoyed it. I read this book in one setting and honestly couldn't put it down because the author's writing is amazing. Cameron and Harmony had really good banter and I liked them together. However, I wish we had more scenes between the two and I didn't feel the tension and chemistry like how I felt it with Raphe and Devon.

I laughed a few times during this book because Cameron is a funny man.

Raphe in this book was ✨chefs kiss✨ and I wouldn't mind getting another book about him and Devon.

I need to re-read Beautifully Broken!!!

Absolutely love this cover!!

Overall, I really enjoyed this book but wish we had more scenes and chemistry between the two main characters because it felt like it was heavier on the mafia rather than romance.

Keeping Harmony by Eve L. Mitchell was an action packed mafia romance full of reckless forbidden passion and emotions. Cameron and Harmony are both explosive and intense characters and when they are dragged into a cruel and wicked mafia power play, things will get messy and complicated and intriguing.

Cameron is not a Sabino by blood but he has tried his best to be a true Sabino. His lethal skills and cruel business sense are asset to the mafia family. While Harmony, his step cousin and daughter of the head of the family, is considered a liability for her impulsive ways. Harmony killed the brother of an enemy family while protecting herself and her father offers her as bride as a peace offering. Cameron cannot stand idle and watch the woman he secretly loves getting ruined but can he go against the powerful Sabinos and come out alive?

Cameron is an amazing droolworthy alpha mafia antihero. He has arrogance and swagger in plenty. He can kill and torture while smiling like a devil. He is incredibly loyal and protective and caring and super possessive. He is an enticing mix of danger and calmness. Harmony is a tornado. She knows that the fate of a daughter in a mafia family is to be used as a pawn but she refuses to accept her fate. She wants to study and make a name. She is proud and fiercely independent. Her rebellion makes her act impulsively and foolishly sometimes. I felt so brokenhearted for her when she was being treated so badly by her own family. She is sassy and fiery and she never stopped fighting and Cameron appeared to be her black knight. Though they are taboo somehow. Cameron proved how much he cared for her.It was really complex with so many moving puzzle pieces. I feel the action and suspense overshadowed the romance. At one moment, they were enemies because Cameron tried to control her for her safety and the next moment, they were lovers. I feel it could be more emotional and gripping.

I reviewed an early copy voluntarily

This is an action-packed mafia, forbidden romance.
And then there’s an “arranged marriage” situation that sets things off! There’s quite a lot going on in this story.
Forbidden, taboo romance is my absolute favorite, add dark and gritty and I’m all in.
Cameron was adopted by his Uncle at the same time he proved himself to be “mafia material” for the family.
He and Harmony are cousins, but not biologically/blood related. They grew up together so, it’s still forbidden and taboo for them to be romantically involved by society’s standards.
Harmony is likable with her sassy attitude and behavior. She kind of has a bit of the spoiled princess thing going on. She has complicated feelings about her family, I understood her issues.
She and Cameron have crazy, hot chemistry and a strong connection. I love them together.
Cam has a huge weakness for her and conflicted feelings because he’s been fighting his attraction to her.
There’s a lot of plot lines and characters in this book, not just the romance. It’s a very full world and story.
It’s gritty and dark at times. There are so many surprises, the twists and turns that kept me invested and in so much anticipation.
It was my first by this author and definitely not my last.

Cam & Harmony belong together, however it's not that simple. See, they're cousins in theory, but since he was adopted into the family by his uncle so no blood relation but the family won't see it that way. It gives the book a bit of taboo but again, they aren't blood related. He secretly loves her but she's a reckless girl who acts without thinking a lot of the time, and now she's being offered up in marriage as a peace offering which has Cam super upset. This story was filled with the kind of goodness that I can't get enough of with the twists & turns around every corner, the action that kept my heart rate up, the chemistry in spades that tried to set my kindle on fire, and just an all around good time that I never wanted to end. I'm going to keep this review on the short side since it's so much better to just experience it for yourselves so now it's time for y'all to hit those one click buttons! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

WOW! This was one hell of an intense rollercoaster ride filled with so many twists and turns, mind blowing curveballs that came out of nowhere and explosively steamy moments that left me utterly hot and flustered. I was literally on the edge of my seat, biting my nails with anticipation and furious at some of the decisions and atrocities that happened right before my eyes. I experienced so many different emotions and at times my blood was boiling so hot that I just wanted to smash my kindle against the wall.

Brilliantly written story with such fantastic, violent and damaged characters and with a storyline that was filled with action, drama, secrets, betrayal, passion and pain. It was gritty, raw, dark and bloody and I absolutely loved every deliciously dark second of it.

The Denver series is back with this new read from Eve. Cameron is the epitome of ruthless Alpha male who has a soft spot for the PITA heroine who only wants to live a "normal" life away from her mafia family.

Eve's writing held me captive from the angsty lust vibes, the almost kiss, will they or won't they to the explosive finish 😉. Cameron and Harmony's foreplay consists of witty, sarcastic remarks to leaving each other wanting more. Throw in mafia family's who can't ever have enough and this is a magnificent story.

Cameron and Harmony learn some hard lessons in this book as they fight for a HEA that will not be easily earned. However the growth they find in each other as well as themselves makes this a story well told.

KEEPING HARMONY is the third instalment in Eve L Mitchell’s contemporary, adult DENVER dark, erotic, Mafia romance series. This is twenty-six year old Cameron Sabino, and twenty year old Harmony Sabino’s story line. KEEPING HARMONY can be read as a stand alone but for back story and cohesion I recommend reading the series in order as several characters cross over from the previous instalments.

WARNING: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Cameron and Harmony) KEEPING HARMONY follows in the aftermath of an attack against Harmony Sabino, an attack that resulted in the murder of some else. As payment for a debt owed, Harmony becomes a pawn in a potential war between two powerful underworld families, a pawn whose life is to be forfeited one way or another. Enter Harmony’s step-cousin Cameron Sabino, and the man with whom Harmony will fall in love. What ensues is the enemies to friends to lovers relationship between Harmony and Cameron, and the fall-out as our couple discover the extent of how dysfunctional one family can be.

Cameron Sabino was adopted and raised by the Sabino family from his early teens but has always lusted after his ‘cousin’ for as long as he can remember. Harmony Sabino is considered to be a spoiled underworld princess but a princess who is about to become fodder in a much larger game of power and control. On the run together, Cameron must first insure Harmony’s safety as he places himself in the direct line of fire.

The relationship between Harmony and Cameron is an enemies to lovers relationship in which Cameron battles between head and heart knowing to protect Harmony means to go against the family to which he belongs but the heart wants something more, and Cameron is about to pay the price for the woman he loves. The $ex scenes are intimate, passionate and intense with some scenes of light spanking.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful, energetic and dynamic secondary and supporting characters including the return of several members of the Sabino family, Louis Neroni, Aidan Ashford (Her Greatest Mistake 1), Raphe Lastra and his significant other Devon (Beautifully Broken 2). The requisite evil has many faces.

KEEPING HARMONY is a story of dysfunctional family values, power and control, death and destruction, acceptance and love. The premise is gritty and dark; the characters are captivating and powerful; the romance is seductive and erotic. KEEPING HARMONY ends on a bit of a cliff hanger-you have been warned.

I received the an ARC of this book. My review is MHO. All I got was an amazing read!!

I love a good mafia romance and let me tell you… this one was amazing! I stood up all night long to finish it, it was that good (and worth the book hangover). There were so many different angles the main and side characters were throwing at me, but I loved it! I had so much fun trying to unravel everyone’s plans and motives.

Cam and Harmony’s relationship is definitely in the taboo genre, but not really. Step cousins through marriage in a mafia family definitely throws a kink in the works. But when Harmony gets put in danger, Cameron decides to go after what he wants…and that’s her.

Cam is a mean, sexy, growly, rude, rough, possessive alpha man and … DAAAMN! It’s hot as hell. Cam is also sweet and he loves his woman. While Cam and Harmony have a slightly toxic relationship, it was only formed out of self preservation and familial obligation. These two have actually loved and lusted after the other from afar. When they finally came together I was fist pumping and screaming FINALLY!! These two have insane chemistry… Fan your face HOT.

I would not classify this as dark romance, but it does have dark themes and violence. It is a standalone, and does have interconnecting characters from ELMs other stories. But you do not have to have read them to understand Cam and Harms story. Top notch mafia rom read!

The Gist: Cam is a made man in the Sabino Family. He was adopted and is so grateful that he has always put the family first, no questions asked. Mafia princess Harmony has spent her life in a cage. She uses her limited freedom while attending college to rebel as much as she can. But you can’t escape family responsibilities when you’re a princess.

FAVE QUOTES:

“There’s only one person in this world that gets to make you miserable, and that’s me.”

“I took you because, as I said, only I get to make you miserable. And you were miserable and would be miserable forever.” Squeezing her neck slightly, I pulled her up slightly. “That fucker wasn’t getting to lay one finger on you and breathe to tell the tale.”

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.

She's my cousin. A cousin through marriage, not blood, but the family won't see it that way. And in my world, family means everything. At least...I always thought so. Being part of a large mafia is my right, my duty, and my calling. Adopted at fifteen by my uncle, I became a Sabino. Everything I am is because of how they trained me. I'm a man with only one weakness...her. Now she's in trouble because she's spoiled, impulsive...intoxicating. When the situation gets out of hand, I know I have to help her. Which is a terrible idea. Because I don't know how much longer I can resist her.

Carmon and Harmony's story is the third and final book in the Denver Series. These two are step-cousins so in reality they are not related at all. They are however really both intense characters that have a burning attraction for each other. Carmon is not a Sabino by blood but he was adopted by his uncle and has always tried to live his life like a true Sabino. He is lethal in his actions and has great business skills. All things that make for a great person to be in a mafia family. Harmony is his step cousin and the daughter of the head of the family and has always been considered a liability her entire life because of the impulsive way she lives her life. But one day to protect herself she has to take and action that she never would have taken otherwise and to make peace between the two families since they are one of the Sabino enemies he offers Harmony as a bride to be the peace offering that is needed. However Carmon can not let this happen. He has had feelings for Harmony as long as he can remember and has never acted on them because his family would say they are related even though they are not. Can he save the woman he loves and go against the powerful Sabino's You have to read to find out. I really liked this story. It is filled with lots of action and more mafia like moments than the first two books. It was a great way to end the series for sure.

I absolutely can’t get enough! This third book in the Denver series was so damn good! I know I say it after every book, but this time I swear Cam is my favorite dark as hell alphahole! Each book in this series just kept getting better! I love this dark mafia world and all the depraved and possessive men in it. I’m really hoping with fingers crossed there are some spin offs from this series down the road.

In the beginning of this story I really believed these two hated each other, it was convincing, but the more they antagonized each other you could see the jealousy and the want in both of them. Both of them were toeing the line of a forbidden love, and had to remember they are step cousins and everyone sees them as family. I loved when they would be at the same place and Harmony would be so snarky making Cam lose his mind! Loved it! Although I have to say there were a few moments I wanted to throat punch Cam.

Towards the end all these deep, dark buried secrets were coming out, and I realized nothing was as it seemed. The depraved made men in this world use women as bargaining chips and this time I think they messed with the wrong one. Harmony was not the princess they all believed to be weak. She was a survivor.

If you haven’t started this series yet, you really should! Heed the trigger warnings, they are real! This series is so good and easy to fall into and binge, because putting it down is near impossible.

Eve L Mitchell once again delivers another fantastic addition to her ( Denver Series ) Keeping Harmony is the perfect example of not only how extremely talented Eve is but of why she is one of my very favorite authors as well . I have to say as much as I loved the first two books in the series - this one might just me my favorite so far . Cam and Harmony I just adored both characters so much , so perfect together and let’s talk about the insane chemistry between them , from the very first meeting you can literally feel the sexual tension coming of your the pages . Harmony so strong , feisty and knows exactly what she wants , but the question is , can she have it ? And Cam - you can’t help my fall for him - he’s so swoony and perfect and hot . But Cam finds himself in a very difficult situation, having to make a choice between what he wants and all he has ever known . Cam and Harmony’s Journey is not a easy one , they definitely have their work cut out for them to get their happy ending .you will laugh , you will cry and you will find yourself on the edge of your deer rooting so hard for both characters. Finding Harmony is everything you could ever want in a story , it’s steamy , dark , suspenseful, heartbreaking, emotional, intriguing, filled with witty banter , humor , unexpected surprises, love , family , drama , second chances and so much more . If you are a fan of Mafia romance then don’t miss this phenomenal book

Keepimg Harmony is the 3rd book in the Denver Series but it can be read as a standalone...

Please dont hate me 🙏 but to begin with i wasnt sure BUT it got really good... it was slow to begin with but once it all kicks off it was full of twists, deception, suspense, chemistry and holy hotness 🌶🌶🌶

Cameron *sigh* *pause* and *drool* was great. I loved his sarcastic attitude, his alpha-holeness and most of all his Loyality- Eve definitely has a talent for creating the guys 😉

I Found Harmony annoying to begin with- completely spoilt but she grew on me and eventually she grew up! I loved the interactions between her and Cam, the bickering and banter between them..

I enjoyed the snippets from other characters from book 1 and 2 *cough cough* Raphe 😉🤤

As always well written and didnt disappoint 🤓

I was soooo waiting for this story, I needed this story. It brings us practically into epicenter of mafia world, the world we just “licked” until now, and now we really to take bath in it. It was terrifying, interesting, exciting and overwhelming all in one time. The family values are really core of this all, or at least it feels so. With Eve setting us on the journey of plot twists, each in the moment we least expected it, each kind of wrecking you. Cam and Harmony are barking on one another, they quarrel, they have real hate - love relation. Since border between hate and love is so fin, when they finally give in, it’s explosive. I will not give any details, everyone need to read it on his own and get theirs own opinion.

Eve Mitchell will most definitely grab your attention when it comes to Keeping Harmony. The back and forth and push and pull of these characters will have you sitting on the edge of your seat wondering what’s going to happen next.
Cameron & Harmony have such an underlying steamy relationship but the “family” knows that she is his soft spot. Fighting the feelings will come to a head but so will so many family secrets that you can’t help wondering what next.
I loved this book from start to finish and if you want a book that will leave you with a satisfying grin at the end then this is the one you will want to read.

This is book three in one of my favourite series the Denver series.....Keeping Harmony is an intense read that will keep you on your toes and you won't want to put the book down. In fact there will be a few times when you just want to throw it in frustration with Cam....or maybe that was just me lol....but Eve's writing just sucks me into her world so much I just want to participate in the story which is a phenomenal talent!! One of the best bits is catching up with my favourite characters from the series Raphe and Aiden.....and now Cam can join into the ranks of best alphaholes in books!!

Oh my goodness, I love Cam!!!

Harmony is so feisty and spunky!! I adore get character! She wants Cam so bad, but she knows she cant have him since they are "cousins"(not by blood, he was adopted).

Cam is freaking all alpha and super hot! He wants Harmony, but can't have her. When something happens, and Harmony is in danger, he will do whatever it takes to save her and keep her safe.

Keeping Harmony will have you glued to the pages! And those plot twists!!!! I didnt see some of those coming! I loved the push and pull and the banter between Harm and Cam, and when they come together, it is 🔥🔥🔥🔥

You guys NEED to read this book!!!

Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (3.5)
Trope: taboo, enemies to lovers
Angst: 😱😱😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥

Keeping Harmony is the 3rd book in Eve L. Mitchell’s The Denver Series and the only one I’ve read in this series. She is not a new to me author and while I have enjoyed her other books, I can’t say I was a fan of this one. I just really disliked both of the MCs and it made it difficult to really get into the story and root for them. The story did move quickly and had tons of action, I just found myself a little apathetic :(. I’ll definitely be reading her again, I think it’s just this one wasn’t for me 🤷🏻‍♀️.

Keeping Harmony is the third book in the Denver series and oh my gosh it was fabulous

Eve L Mitchell has done an outstanding job with this story. As soon as I started this book I found myself completely and utterly consumed by Harmony and Cameron’s explosive romance.

If you love ruthless Alpha male leads who has a soft spot for the sassy heroine then you eat up this story just like I did.

I throughly enjoyed the push and pull will they won’t they dynamic between Harmony and Cameron their chemistry oozed off the pages.

Keeping Harmony is perfect in every way and I can’t recommend it enough
