The story of August's relationship between two popular boys at R. high school was fun, fluffy, and was the perfect summer read!
Some of my issues with this novel really begin with the pacing of the story. In my opinion, August and James's feelings for one another grew extremely fast and their relationship didn't involve the longing I hoped for. This is a key factor for me when reading a romance story: I enjoy yearning and this simply was not present.
Another concern of mine when reading this book was its length. The story felt rushed and I was left wanting more from August and Logan and expanding their relationship on the page.
Something I was pleased to read was the anti-girl-on-girl hate the authors so greatly wrote in. Even though some of the female characters created opinions about each other based on their relationships with the male love interests, I appreciated the authors including a clarifying conversation between two female characters that had tension between them but I will not say more as to avoid spoiling.
Notches aside, August Rain is a short summer romance novel I enjoyed and can work as a standalone novel.

Calling all Swifties (and lovers of YA romance)!!! This book is for you. The authors said it is inspired by the unnamed narrator in the song august by Taylor Swift. You don't really get to hear what happens to her so they decided to write the story.
Honestly, I devoured this in one sitting. Seriously, I loved it. I felt like the teenagers lives were realistic in comparison to some other YA books. I felt nostalgic AF, too. I really enjoyed it. Also, for the Swifties out there, there are many easter eggs dropped in. I didn't realize it until I read this article by Vulture. https://www.vulture.com/2020/08/folkl...
This books releases TOMORROW (6/24) and it is also on Kindle Unlimited. It is only 272 pages, so it is a quick read. I recommend!

August Rain is the perfect heartwarming romance for Swifties and YA fans alike. I found this novel fun, light hearted, and easy to get through. The strength of this story is its ability to adapt from Taylor Swift’s Folklore. From the start I liked Logan, and wished that his character was more developed in the first half. James I was never a huge fan of, and mostly because I was skeptical (anyone who’s listened to Cardigan would be), but his character was very interesting and I found myself happy for him at the end. The main character August, had a lot of strong personality traits and I was definitely rooting for her through the novel. As a teenager myself I did find a lot of the slang out of touch with what real young adults speak like, however many ya authors struggle with this, so I was able to get past it. Overall, the two authors did a good job creating a story from some songs, and they made it their own in a splendid way.

July 1, 2021This book was well written and I think the characters and the background was well thought of and written. Would I consider this book a love triangle? No. I wish this book had a gimmick. Something that made it really stand out from other teenage romance books. The plot line was like boy meets girl, girl meets boy’s best friend and they fall in love. In my most humble opinion this is a very common formula authors use but they do have elements and plot twists that really makes the book stand out.

𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬: I was deeeeeeep into the KU catalog when I found this book one of my favorite authors. When I tell you I GASPED and downloaded it immediately, I mean it. 🤣 I also messaged Jamie immediately and asked why I didn’t know about it. Long story short, she doesn’t talk about it because she and Heather are planning some rewrites/edits of it. However, I read it anyway. Jamie and I chatted about what she wants to change in the book and I agree with her. That all said, I did still find this book to be enjoyable. It was a cute, sweet read. The second half had me STRESSED because I was going to riot if August didn’t end up with who I wanted her to be with. Good news: no riot ensued. 😅 Overall, this was enjoyable and I’m happy I read it in this form. I am excited for when Jamie and Heather do their rewrites/edits of the book because I will definitely read that version, too.

This is your sign to get this book! I was put through a rollercoaster of emotions but enjoyed it none the less. This book made my eyes glued to the pages and I finished it in one day! I usually read fantasy but decided to give this book a shot, I am sure glad I did! This book has a beautiful flow of the storyline and perfectly portrays older high school years. The chemistry between the characters is unmatched and I found myself congratulating August as the book went on. I am very pleased to know I spent a Sunday well and am sad to let the characters go. The authors did an amazing job and this book is truly a new favorite!

I couldn’t put this book down. I loved August Rain because it felt raw and real to what young love is. I was pulled in by the characters, and was rooting for some of them on till the very end. I loved all the Taylor Swift easter eggs and 90’s references too bringing back all the nostalgia! I feel like this is a book a lot of age ranges can relate too. Whether that be in their current lives or reliving the past in one way or another.

Let me start by saying that I physically cringe any time an author says that a character "chuckles", which happens in more current YA books than you may think. The 1970's called and wants its word back. I don't know why I have such a problem with it, but alas, I do. And it happens more in this book than any I've encountered yet. So minus stars for that......BUT......otherwise the book is cute.

It took me an embarrassingly long time to realize that the first half of this book is based on the folklore love triangle, but once I did it actually made the book better because I had more emotional investment in the characters. Overall, it was a cute book!

Finally! A heroine that we can respect because she ACTUALLY RESPECTS HERSELF! It's a breath of fresh air that you don't have August falling all over James after he blows it. A perfect YA Romance. It was sexy, hilarious, full of all that teen angst and yearning. And i absolutely was there for the awkward moments! I could FEEL THE AWKWARD ain the best possible way, secondhand haha.

Wow. I-
After reading the book I felt compete but not at the same time. Thousands of thoughts swarm into my mind at 2:00AM because it was the type of book that shouldn’t be put down until you finished the book. I wanted to finish because I was dying to know who August chose and her relationship with the other. It’s a cute YA romance and they had some cheesy lines but it made me feel content and happy. 🍓
The authors wrote it in a way that made me feel sympathetic towards all the characters and it made me feel confused. In some type of aspect, I love all the characters and their differences.
Not going to lie, I cried when a specific part appeared. I dreaded that scene but everyone knew it was going to happen. I wasn’t mentally prepared but I knew it’ll happen. I don’t know if others would cry but I cry a lot when it comes to books because I’m so into the book that I will relate to the MC with whatever they’re feeling.
In the end, I give 5/5 stars because the authors are beginners to the writing world and I will support them because who doesn’t want to support someone’s dreams? I can’t wait to see more work and their books is just the beginning of their career. 💖
