As one of the Four Horsemen, people bow to my whims. Women throw themselves at me. And powerful men cower at the mention of my name. With having more money than I could spend in a thousand lifetimes, being part of the most powerful crime syndicates in the world has its perks.
Love had never been on my checklist. Money and power are the only things that matter in my world. But something inside of me slowly seems to change. And it’s all because of her…
New to the island, hired to work at one of my restaurants. She has no idea who I am or how things work here. However, spilling wine on me has put her on my radar. The fact she shows no interest in me only amplifies my desire to have her and I have every intention of making her mine. The freedom she once had was lost the moment she caught my eye, she just doesn’t know it yet.

Welcome to Helka Island!
Crystal blue waters and a thriving nightlife.
Helka Island is the most sought-after vacation destination in the world. At first glance, a girl might think it's paradise...
But even paradise has its underworld. And four dangerous men who rule it.
The Horsemen have united four of the most powerful organized crime families of North and South America and Europe and brought them together on a remote island in the Caribbean, creating an unstoppable force.
The four rulers of the island are a woman's fantasy, but a nightmare to anyone who defies the rules. They're sexy. They're single, but untouchable. Expanding their empires comes first for them... sex a close second... Love... Well, that hasn't even been a blip on their radar.
Plot: Ashleigh is new to the island, working as a waitress, but it's a perfect respite from her messed-up life. On the island, everything is taken care of for her, and all she has to do is wait tables. Then she catches the eye of one of the Four Horsemen, the men who run the island. Elijah won't take no for an answer, and slowly but surely, they ease themselves into a relationship. But Elijah has secrets that Ashleigh might not be ready to hear.
Commentary: For me, I found the mention of them as fraternity brothers a little off-putting. When I hear about frat boys, I think cargo shorts and backward baseball caps, raging keggers and date rape. I don't think criminal underworld scions. So I had two competing images of the Horsemen in my head. And I actually found the Horseman idea to be somewhat underdeveloped. Which Horseman was each one, what color belonged to them, and above all, why? How did exactly four of them from what must be at times competing families come together? Because they went to the same college? Elijah mentions that their families thought it would be good for them to connect, so did they all go to the same college on purpose? Have they been forced to remain together as an entity? Because Elijah's father still seems to have an enormous amount t of influence on the island, even though it's supposed to be the Horsemen's thing. And according to Elijah, the four of them are not even necessarily friends, even though they spend a large majority of their time together, and apparently spent time together while they were kids as well. And now they're on this island for how long? Until one of them wants to branch out? Forever? Until there's a fracture in their families' agreements? I guess I found the motivation for the setting to be the weakest point.
Also, at times I felt Elijah's internal dialogue to be immature. He didn't seem ready to actually engage in a relationship with Ashleigh. At first, I could forgive it because she was just a girl he picked up - of course he was grossed out by her vomit (although I've never read another book where the hero was that squeamish). But later on - is it true love if you can contemplate killing your romantic partner because they threaten your business? In my mind, love is not just about attraction but also sacrifice. He didn't seem ready for that part of it, not at any point in the book. I felt like the series has potential though, and Asher's story sounds to be a little more intriguing.
I did like Ashleigh's backstory - it felt genuine, although I would like to know where she found the job application for the island.
Grammar/formatting: I felt like the phone calls were formatted a little weird. Usually it's enough to say that the person is talking on the phone and then the conversation is written like normal dialogue, but here it was written with character tags at the beginning, like text messages would normally be. It actually confused me and I had to go back and check to see if they were on the phone or texting.
Next book in the series: Asher: The Horsemen Mafia
Story: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Trope: billionaire boss Angst: 😱😱😱 Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥
Great read with interesting storyline and world building. Totally over the top possessive alpha with installer for his heroine. I liked the fact that he didn't drag out accepting his feelings for her. Enjoyed the heroine who seemed to have a true grasp of her own moral compass. Only complaint is that I felt like the ending was a bit rushed. Will definitely be reading next in series.
SYNOPSIS: FC takes a job on a private island and the MC takes an instant interest in her. FC has a „traumatic“ backstory of abuse from a prior boyfriend. The MC is part of 4 wealthy owners of the Island who all went to college together and form the Four Horsemen. Relationship between the MC/FC develops quickly. There‘s then an obligatory hiccup which is also quickly resolved. Whilst the MC/FC story is standalone there are open questions left at the end of the book. Not a cliffhanger as such just unresolved questions.
This story did not do anything for me. I note that the author is described as best selling but for me this was a very by the numbers book with bad/lazy editing and an FC and MC with whom I could not engage.
The FC was apparently in an abusive relationship for 4 years. There‘s no real description of the relationship or why she remained in it. It made her seem weak and that the relationship could not have been that abusive. The feeling I had was that this element of the story was purely there to try and give depth to the FC and to drive the ultimate climax. It was too contrived. The killing of the FC‘s ex again seemed to be purely to create the climax of the story. It was quick and out of the blue. It jarred with me that the MC decided to kill the ex immediately after reading a background check, before he had been with the FC for more than 5 minutes and without getting any details from the FC. It also jarred that he could not be bothered to kill the ex himself but had someone else do it. The FC came across as a bit of a gold digger. Within 1 minute of meeting the MC the FC was taking time off work, accepting clothing and paid days off. There was a brief mention of her not wanting to accept his money but it came across as false. The whole poker game was ridiculous and made the FC seem more of an idiot than she already seemed. The MC I found unlikeable. I couldn‘t see any real darkness in him or his actions he just seemed like an arse. Especially his attitude to killing innocent witnesses and turning a blind eye to what was essentially human slavery re Asher. The 4 main MCs are supposed to be the four Horsemen. You never get any real explanation as to what this title means for them or who each is supposed to represent. There is even reference to the FC not even knowing who the four Horsemen are (really?). Again, the name seemed contrived and purely given to try to create some immediate depth and drama to the MCs. Finally, there was no real development of the MCs relationship and the main MC even confirms that he doesn‘t like Asher. Thus you don‘t even get an explanation as to why the 4 are really together and there‘s no good bromance or loyalty developed or felt. Finally the ending just killed it for me. How the FC could forgive the MC for turning a blind eye, then treating her as he did and finally getting comfortable with Asher‘s behaviour? No, just no. This FC was truly pathetic, had no strength or morals and was clearly only with the MC for the money. As I said, not for me.
Elijah is one of the Four Horsemen and has the power of the mafia and women at his fingertips. He meets Ashleigh, a waitress at one of his restaurants and sparks fly. What will happen when she learns the truth about the island and Elijah? Fast-paced read with loads of drama, suspense and intense chemistry. Great characters and steam. I really liked it and am looking forward to more.
Started a little slow and dragged in some areas, but I really ended up liking it. There wasn't much drama or craziness, which is different for a Mafia series. I'm not looking forward to ashers book but hopefully it'll be decent.
This was a powerful book and our heroine had to make a tough, touch choice.
There were some things which upset me. I didn’t think I would be able to read anymore of this series. But as I continued to read, I realized I would make the same choice the heroine did.
I have to read the “Asher” book but I’m afraid it may contain things I won’t like also and I may not be able to get past them this time. But I have to find out what happens to the girl in the basement!
I no matter how I feel emotionally, this was a well written book which kept me guessing and, for once, I really wasn’t sure there would be an HEA.
The worst mafia trope and weakest characters ever written. The MMC is unredeemable. He allows a woman to be chained up in Ashers basement and doesnt care because he "should have killed her." Then he chains up his own girl friend when she finds the chick in Ashers basement. Asher bloodies the MFC, Elishas gf right in front of him. Knocks her out with a bat or some object and threatens her life and Elijah weak pussy that he is, does nothing! What kind of mafia boss does nothing when his college brother does that to the woman he loves? The same weak character who threatens to kill her multiole times and refuses to ever let her leave the island whether she accepts his life or not. Don't waste your time on this shite.
All Ashleigh ever wanted was a better life for herself, to start over, to leave her past behind her and start afresh at Helka Island, she got off to a good start, but a spilt glass of red wine changes all that as she catches the eyes of Elijah.
A night out with a work colleague to let loose, turns disastrous when Elijah stakes his claim on her, it quickly goes down hill from there, Elijah doesn’t know what he’s thinking, let alone Ashleigh.
Ashleigh doesn’t know what to make of Elijah’s claim on her, but she’s none too happy when he starts to interfere with her work, more concerned how her relationship with Elijah will affect her working relationship with her colleagues.
They begin to spend time together, there relationship developing, learning about each other, there connection undeniable, in a moment of passion they each express there love for one another.
Elijah knows that Ashleigh is hiding something from him, and when he discovers what, he can’t help be angry for her, he does the one thing that will take her pain away, but not without repercussions.
When Ashleigh shares with Elijah the trauma she endured, he can’t help but be shocked, his actions justifiable, and when Ashleigh discovers something that she wasn’t meant to know, things begin to click together, and when she learns of Elijah’s involvement, her head is spinning.
Elijah resorts to the one thing he never wanted to do, but in order for Ashleigh to see reason, he chains her to the bed. Ashleigh is confused, hurt, trying to make sense of everything, then Elijah does the unthinkable and shares with Ashleigh the other side of who he is, in the hopes she’ll understand why and whom Elijah is the way he is.
Once Ashleigh is able to accept what she knows, her life tied to Helka Island for the foreseeable future, she has to contend with Elijah’s father Royce, to say she is scared is an understatement, but after there conversation she begins to accept the reality of her situation.
When Ashleigh is free of the confines of the ankle monitor, Elijah has no choice but to trust her, for the sake of there relationship, and when Elijah learns that Ashleigh is attempting to flee the island, he goes in pursuit of her, only when he finds her that isn’t the case, he finds her in the one place that has a lot of meaning to the both of them, but it becomes so much more when he asks her to be his wife, and in that moment you couldn’t find two people more in love with each other, to face what they have, only to come out stronger than ever.
This story is told from different POV, it will take you on a wild ride, having you turn page after page. This book had me from beginning to end, it told a telling story, this author definitely knows how to write.
This book has it all passion, romance, roller coaster of emotions, drama, action, mystery, friendship, family, acceptance, jealousy, madness, mayhem, intrigue, vengeance, violence, adrenaline seeking suspense, twists, turns, truths.
Reading this story, it enables the readers to really connect with the characters, and as the story unfolds the readers see the development and growth from the characters singularly and together.
And those s*x scenes were steamy, yet sensual, dirty, hot, intense, physical, provocative, it had all the angry angst, hate, pleasure and passion one would except. Elijah aims to give Ashleigh the pleasure she deserves, his possessive and obsessive need for control and dominance, it was off the charts and had all of the feels.
Ashleigh’s relationship with Elijah grows in strength, their trust in each other building, but they work together in there own way, because nothing and no one will get between Ashleigh and her alpha dominating, controlling, yet overly possessive fiancé. She loves him and he loves her, regardless of all their differences, because they are in this together, their happily ever after bittersweet, for it was Ashleigh who thawed his heart, and he hers both getting the happiness they deserve.
Buckle up this one will have you hold the sides of the seat a wild ride, suspense, dangerous man, alpha personified, possessive, oh, so gorgeous, brooding all the makings of a deliciously dark story. Within the first chapters you get the panoramic view of whom you’re dealing with! Bad boy….check Bod boy’s crazy brother/friend…check Bad boy’s Kryptonie…check ….check and check By the time you’ve figured out who is who and what is what, you’re already hooked, and you may as well give up the fight and prepare yourself for an all-nighter! Can’t say I didn’t warn you. Okay where to start well let’s get the Four Horsemen out of the way meaning four extremely powerful make up the Four Horsemen each with their own unique set of skills that they bring to the table, and they own Helka Island a place where everyone wants to vacation but boy if they only knew what kept that Island running. Elijah sexy as all get out white horseman son of the well know, feared, most ruthless, deadly Royce Caine (by the way read his story you will see then why his reputation proceeds him) between he and his college friends well they bought, formed one of the most sought out Island in the world. Ashleigh sweet, scared, oh so very strong walking about from an abusive relationship after being thrown down the stairs more than once applied to work on Helka Island as a waitress to get away from it all get your tissues out because this girl hasn’t had it easy parents die in a accident right before she graduates, no other family and working in some diner, restaurant or food industry since the age of sixteen so Helka Island is a step up. They provide an apartment to you when hired, amazing salary and the most beautiful scenery but the catch is you do sign a contract, give blood and stool samples upon getting hired. But the rules are you avoid the Four Horsemen when they are out and about Ashleigh did get that memo but one accident it all it took to get noticed by Elijah and once noticed there was no going back the attraction was like something either of them have ever felt and no matter how much they fought it they both found they are drawn to one another so they give in and boy this is where the ride really takes a dip so tighten your seat belt . Elijah isn’t going to stand by while her ex. who should have gone to prison walks free (see where I am going with that) so Asher one of the horsemen is sent to take care of the situation and he does except he left a witness and Ashleigh finds out. So let’s say the witness and Ashleigh find themselves both prisoners in very beautiful cages on a very beautiful island will Elijah be able to show her the real him, will she accept him, the reasoning behind what they do, will she be okay with it all enough for him to take the ankle monitor off, will her heart allow her to walk away because there is only one way out, will she understand his reasonings behind his so many actions, and can they find something more like happiness along the way?
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I'm on the fence with this Mafia series. I won't say it's a bad read, but it's not what I would classify in this genre as a "great read". The author didn't "sell the characters or the plot" enough for me to say it was a great read. I have read other series by other authors who also wrote a "Four Horseman" mafia trope with very dark characters, and have to say that I enjoyed the characters and the story better in those series vs. the first book of this series. I am more critical than most in this genre because of the number of books I have read. Many had characters and stories that have resonated with me months and years later, while others were good, okay/and or terrible.
I never connected with Elijah character that straddled the fence of trillionaire/criminal and the son of one of the most powerful Mafia don's in the world. His character never felt fully defined, and was underdeveloped. He felt younger than his supposed age. One minute he was talking about killing people like it was just another daily task and the next he was trying to justify what he and the other Horsemen had done with the island calling it Paradise, with their purported control of it and everyone on it. His character felt as though he vacillated from one extreme to the other without allot of depth in his decisions. If an innocent person is caught seeing something they shouldn't whether it be man woman or child, you kill them; end of story.
His insta-love attachment to Ashleigh was too much too soon. It didn't feel real and his constant battle with telling her the truth vs., spinning his own form of the truth was disappointing. His character wasn't awful, but didn't fully resonate with me.
Ashleigh was a train wreck as far as her choices in men and careers were. She had just broken off an abusive relationship with Calvin, taken a waitressing job on an island in the Caribbean and then falls into bed with a guy she knows very little about. There was too much inner dialogue about how beautiful he was as well as his home, car, and island considering she wasn't supposed to be a materialistic character. Her character felt hypocritical at times. I felt like she had to "justify Elijah's character to herself" before she could agree to Elijah's stipulations at books end. She left one horrible relationship and entered into a "paradise/prison" with Elijah with little effort. She kept referring to herself as a woman with values but seemed willing to give those values up in order to enter into Elijah's world of criminality, danger, death, murder and wealth. Many authors are able to sell a character who is faced with "do I stay or leave" scenario successfully, but I never felt as though this author sold that outcome for Ashleigh's character.. I don't end novels with a HEA because those only exist in fairytales, but barely see this couple ending this book with a "happy for now".
Okay... thought about this one for a little. The storyline and ideas were really good, but if this is a standalone I wish they would've used some of the information provided to make it a little more dramatic. 1. Elijah sort of made me mad. Asher essentially beat Ash and Elijah did nothing because he's like his "brother". Like no. Thank you, next. 2. The conflict could've been juicier I think if they would've utilized the conflict with the forbidden drugs on the island, Sebastian (guy who tried to kiss ash), or even more development of the relationship of Ash, Elijah, and Elijah's Dad. Like so many missed opportunities to make the last 50% of the book truly hook you in. Still good, but not really juicy. A little anticlimactic. 3. He chained her to a bed and forced her to stay like a prisoner, but he never truly tried to understand her perspective. Ash also doesn't help the fact with how fast she forgives him without him actually doing anything. Like WOW. He told you the truth after lying to you for a long period of time and just expects you to accept it with no groveling or ANYTHING. He has done the bare minimum in terms of carrying half the weight of a relationship. And she does but still, he "loved" her. She was willing to forgive him obviously because she loved him, but his actions besides being possessive really lacked that soulmate, I love you, I need you, you make me want to be better connection.
Overall, the story was good. I wouldn't read it again, I would recommend it if someone asked for a mafia recommendation. Would it be my first choice rec? No. Honestly I wish these were available as audiobooks. It's the ideal depth of a story to have playing while I study or clean the house. Not too detailed where I'll lose track of details while multitasking, but captivating enough to hear what's going on. Will I continue reading the remainder standalones of the series? Yes, probably. I honestly like the authors writing and can see so much potential. Solid 3 Stars⭐️

Elijah & Ashleigh: Not A Super Couple But, I Liked Them.
Elijah is a Billionaire with a questionable means of acquiring his income. After all, how else could he be a part of a mysterious partnership titled, THE HORSEMEN, that own an island in paradise. His life becomes a little more complicated when he falls for a waitress in one of the restaurants he owns. He soon becomes smitten and a man that is used to getting what he wants, sees no difference when he begins to pursue said waitress, Ashleigh.
Ashleigh came to the island in paradise as a means to excaping an abusive relationship in her past. She finds herself the object of Elijah's interest and soon becomes enamored with him herself. Until, she didcovers the secrets behind Elijah and the rest of the Horsemen. She soon is faced with the dilemma if she can endure being with a questionable man such as Elijah. she soon learns that her choices are very limited. You're either in or out. Her very life depends on her choice.
I loved Elijah! He was sexy and sweet. I loved the varying sides of him. Ashleigh was a very strong character. However, the logic behind her choices were very wishy-washy. I mean, she was by no means dumb, but some on... she had to have some type of clue of this man's lifestyle if the buzz on the island is don't look at any of the Horseman or let them catch you looking at you. Further, she even goes on to ask him, "Why is everyone scared of you?" If that wasn't a red flag, I don't know what is! By the end of the book, she became this weak, silly heroine who just decided, "Well, if you can't beat 'am, join 'em!" *insert eyeroll here*
The only reason why I am scoring this book so high is because of one of the secondary characters... Horseman: ASHER! This man dominated every page he appeared on in this book! I was so glad to see that he had his own book. I am dying to see what transpires between him and Elena! On to Book Two! I'm so ready for Asher!
Elijah, the White Horse, and His Sassy Waitress❤🔥🔥🔥❤
Oh my WOW!!!! Welcome to paradise on Helka Island. Four college buddies and sons from mafia and cartel families come together to build paradise and a controlled environment not only for business but for those who live and work own the Island. The first Horseman is Elijah Caine, the white horse, is immediately taken by the waitress that spilled wine in his shirt yet had the sass to stand up to him and his demands. Ashleigh Carey left her home in the states along with her abusive ex to start a new and better life. When she captures the attention of one of the feared Horsemen, Ashleigh doesn't understand what he could possibly want from her. Things are great until Ashleigh stumbles where she shouldn't and learns a horrible secret. Elijah "would burn the world to the ground to save her" but can she accept that part of his life??? How much can she overlook in the name of love?? Can he trust her to be set free and truly be his??? OMG this is a MUST READ mafia romance with a bit of darkness to keep your attention!!! The characters have sizzling chemistry, his/her POV, no cheating, no cliffhanger and an emotional HEA. I've already purchased the available books and in ready to head back to Helka Island and the Horsemen!!! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book and happily purchased a copy for my favorites collection. Can't wait to see the spin on Asher!!!

This mafia book is a phenomenal read as it was full of suspense and you are in for one hell of a ride with this story. The Characters in the book made it very enjoyable and the story line really made it flow well, Which sucks you in from the very beginning. This was the first book I've heard of Terry Towers and wow I must say I was very impressed as I didn't know what to expect and if this book is anything to go by I will definitely be ready more books by this author.
Loved the writing style, great world building. It will make you go through all kinds of emotions. Happy, frustration, anger, incredulous. It's "I met a great guy, fell in love, liked his associates, except one, then find out they are keeping a prisoner, that he killed my abusive ex, the girl who was in the wrong place at the wrong time was being held prisoner in a basement, they boyfriend I fell in love with, had no intent on helping the young girl, and doesn't even really care that she is being held prisoner for HIS actions, even knowing how his brother was, sells drugs and guns, cuffs me to his bed, expects me to just accept everything, and if not, sorry I love you, but I will have to kill you if you don't agree with everything you have seen, so what do you say? No biggie right? we can just go about like nothing changed between us. Ok, great glad we understand each other" It was like, "Is he for real? Maybe she would of accepted things more easily and quicker if he hadn't been so callous and nonchalant about a girl being chained up in a basement like a dog." The next book is going to be real fun I'm sure. *sarcasm* Asher is a real asshole, unfeeling and has no empathy about what he is doing to the girl. I'm gonna wanna hit him and scream at him all through the book. XD
Wow, i absolutely was thrilled to find a new author to me and an amazing new read. Elijah is the first book of The Four Horsemen series, and one of the powerful Alpha & Dominant males who own and run the Caribbean Island.
Ashleigh comes to the Island to start her life over and applies for a waitress job and it hired under Elijah, and he hires her and becomes her boss and starts out dominant and showing authority and power because he is immediately drawn to her and the way she carries herself.
Of course, Ashleigh tries to fight the strong attractions she has towards her new boss, ultimately, they fall head over heels in love, but will he be able to convince her to stay after she discovers more about him and what he has to do with being owner of the island. I really enjoyed this read and highly recommend it. because the author gives so many different emotions such as dominance, love, lust, hate and lots of twists and turns and a hot alpha male that has lots of money to buy whatever he wants. I so can't wait for the second book of this amazing first part about the powerful Horseman Mafia.
This is a standalone story & is also the start of a new series by Terry Towers, and it does not disappoint. The story is written from multiple POV which I enjoy as you learn what others are thinking. Ashleigh has had a very rough few years and wants to start over, so she applies for a waitressing job on a private island. The island is run by four alpha men. Elijah is one of the owners of the island along with his three friends. People are in awe of them, and they are treated like gods as they are very powerful. When Elijah sees Ashleigh there is an instant chemistry and he takes what he wants. She doesn't realize exactly how powerful he is though she learns as the story continues. Good character development with a storyline that keeps you reading to the end. Looking forward to reading the other three horsemen's stories.
I voluntarily wrote this review from reading an advanced copy of this book.
We begin the new Horsemen Mafia series and Elijah and Ashleigh's story was the perfect way to kick it off. Elijah and his 3 buddies/brothers are called the Four Horseman that's what everyone knows them as. Elijah is the White Horseman they own and run their Caribbean Island Helka island. The four men are all powerful men they're members of Mafia and Cartel families which is why they have a private Island. Ashleigh left her life in the states behind along with her abusive ex she went in search of a new and better life. She applies to be a waitress on the island and Elijah hires her making him her boss. He's immediately drawn to her and Ashleigh also feels a connection to Elijah but she's fighting it. I don't want to say anymore and ruin it for anyone else with spoilers. You really need to read this riveting story to see what happens. I would definitely recommend reading this book.

Elijah Caine is one of the Four Horsemen, each the son and heir to a different criminal family. They are friends from college and each has invested in Helka Island and it's completely governed by them. The island is thriving and a safe place to live for the employees, residents, and the guests, as long as they follow the rules, the Horsemen's rules. Ashleigh Carey escaped an abusive ex and is stating a new life on Helka Island as a waitress. She grabs the attention of Elijah, there is a sizzling chemistry, and so the relationship starts. But when she discovers things about the Horsemen and their families, can she accept the man she has fallen for. the book is well paced, has crazy steam, action, drama, twists, and more. I am so excited to read more and especially Asher's book, up next. The series is available to read for free with your KU subscription.

If you love mafia romances then you will love this series! Elijah is one of the 4 Horsemen, powerful and feared, brought together in college from 4 families and destined to take over their empires. Love was something Elijah never had time for, women yes but not love. Ashleigh is trying to escape her past and make a new start on the island and trying to fit in at her new job. The last thing she wants is attention, but since she spilled wine all over Elijah she has his attention now! Elijah loves a good chase and he is determined to catch the uninterested Ashleigh. Ashleigh doesn't want to be caught, but what Elijah wants, Elijah gets. The more she tries to resist him, the more she is pulled in. It doesn't take long before the chemistry is at odds with the kind of man he is. I love their story, the drama and intrigue, the danger and the passion....I can't wait for the next book! I received this ARC from Bad Boy Updates.
Wild read. Was looking to start reading dark romances. Knowing this one isn’t as dark as most other reads, I decided to start with this. I think it did a great job with the storytelling. I was fascinated with the concept of the four horsemen owning and having their own world. I can see this read being a hit or miss for a lot of dark romance readers. For me it was exactly what I was looking for. There were some parts of the story that felt rushed. The story jumped from weeks to months with no backstory. I did like the FMC's moral compass and personality, but one thing I disliked about her is she kept saying she came for change, to have a better life and start over, but never fully followed through. She quickly betrayed herself in every way. 3⭐️ because it did entertain me and kept me glued to the screen. I will definitely continue to read the series. I’m most excited about Asher’s story as well as afraid of what’s coming.
Elijah is a pretty solid start to Terry Towers’ Horsemen Mafia series. It’s a fun, fast-paced read with a main guy who’s definitely morally grey—he's not your typical “good guy,” but you can’t help but be drawn to him. Elijah's got that dark, dangerous vibe, but there’s also a bit more to him underneath, which makes him interesting.
The chemistry between the leads is off the charts, and the spice? 4 stars for sure—things definitely heat up in this one! The romance is steamy, but it doesn’t feel over the top; it fits the story well.
The plot moves along nicely, and while some twists might be a bit predictable, the character growth is what really kept me hooked. Elijah is a complicated guy, and you end up rooting for him even when he’s not exactly making the best choices.
If you're into mafia romance with a little bit of edge, Elijah is definitely worth the read. It’s got suspense, heat, and a lot of character depth—looking forward to seeing where the next book goes!
Elijah Caine, one of the feared Horsemen of Helka Island, is instantly drawn to Ashleigh Carey—the bold waitress who spills wine on him and still dares to talk back. Ashleigh has come to the island for a fresh start after escaping an abusive ex, but when Elijah sets his sights on her, her world is turned upside down.
Their chemistry is explosive, but secrets and danger quickly threaten their fragile connection. Elijah would “burn the world to save her,” but can Ashleigh accept the darkness he carries?
This mafia romance is a must-read. It’s dark, passionate, and packed with tension. If you love protective antiheroes and strong heroines, this one’s for you.

2 of my favourite quotes:
“I’d burn the world to the ground just to save you, Ashleigh.”
I enjoyed this book as the beginning of a new series and look forward to reading more. Elijah is one of four, each the son of a different mafia family. They have invested in an island completely governed by them. The island is thriving and a safe place to live for the employees and those that live there as long as they follow the rules. Each of the sons have different personalities and control something about life on the island. For instance, Elijah is responsible for anyone visiting, working or living on the island. No one enters without his say so. I liked this aspect of the series as future books look intriguing especially after the author has provided a glimpse into Asher's story. I thought Ashleigh was considerably naive considering she was from Jersey, not small town America, but overall a good story.
This book captured my attention from the first page to the last word on the last page. The characters are finding their footings as a couple. Elijah is extremely wealthy and has dark secrets, him along with the other three friends/brothers are known as the Four Horsemen. Together they run the island and the underworld as the heirs apparent. Ashleigh has come to the island to get her life under control and to get away from her ex-boyfriend. When she meets Elijah, she’s attracted, but fights it with everything she has. They form a relationship and fall in love but things have a way of messing up the fate of them. It is things that could be explained, but they are both stubborn about trying to understand the problems. It is a rollercoaster ride for them and the readers. I can’t wait for the next installment.
I received an ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving my review. Welcome to Helka Island, where the Four Horsemen rule all. This is about Elijah, the white horseman, and Ashleigh. She has come to the island to leave her problems with her old life far behind. She and Elijah meet and their lives take a new direction. She wants to feel safe and strong again. He wants to be wanted for himself regardless of the bad, good, right or wrong in his life. The secrets, passion, families and the extremes that things will go will make this book hard to put down. I am curious to see where the series goes from here with Asher.

Elijah never wanted a relationship, he already had everything he wanted and could have any woman he wanted, until he bumped into Ashleigh literally. Something about her stirred a need in him. Ashleigh wanted to work on the island, save some money and get her life together. When she bumped into Elijah it was a force she couldn’t stop. Elijah gives Ashleigh some information about what he does but not the whole truth, when things go wrong after Elijah gets rid of Ashleigh’s ex who hurt her, Ashleigh finds out accidently just what the Horseman do. Elijah knows that Ashleigh has to make a choice can she live with what they do knowing it all or not. If she can he can give her a life that many dream of, if she can’t she can never leave the island.
Captivating Book One. This new series has me hooked after reading Elijah, Book One, Horsemen Series. The Caribbean Island that is the back drop to this storyline offers the perfect amount of luxury but with a price. The characters, Elijah (the white horseman) and his love interest, waitress, Ashleigh, have the right chemistry and pulls us in to their struggles as we learn just how dark Elijah can be and how conflicted Ashleigh is as she discovers more of the many facets of him and the island. Talk about being a captive bird in a gilded cage! I’m definitely recommending this book for your reading enjoyment and pleasure. PEACE.
When Ashleigh started working at the privately owned island as a waitress, she heard the tales of the four owners who didn't like anyone looking at them. She couldn't understand why not. They were four gorgeous godlike hunks. One of the four caught her eye, she just couldn't look away. She ran into Elijah spilling wine on him, after cleaning the wine out with vinegar and soda, she was taken to Elijah's house to have the dinner with him that he couldn't since his shirt made him smell from the vinegar. This story kept me reading right from the start. I can't wait to read more of the Horsemen and the people who will steal their heart.
