Vivien Wells never wanted to find her Prince Charming. She was more than happy to kiss all the frogs and was not worried about any of them transforming into royalty. But after watching all three of her sisters find true love, she is on the hunt to find her happily-ever-after, but soon discovers life is not a fairytale.
There was only one female in Glenn Maguire’s life that mattered to him, his daughter Aubrey. After becoming a single dad, he decided he didn’t want a string of women coming in and out of her life. So, to that end, he’s taken a break from dating. But when he gets to town and meets his sexy, curvy, sassy neighbor who happens to be a Jessica Rabbit look-a-like, his resolve is put to the test.
Author's Note: Flirting with Fate is a single dad, next-door neighbor, road trip, small-town romance. This heart-bursting happily ever after tale is jam-packed with a sassy, sarcastic heroine with a potty mouth and a heart of gold, a stubborn, reluctant single dad hero with a daughter who is six going on sixteen, a colorful cast of supporting characters including (but not limited to) a ninety-two-year-old, tattooed, Taylor Swift fan and a matchmaking aunt who thinks she knows best. You will also find the following: tearjerker moments, sparks from sexual tension so bright you might need welder’s goggles, ovary-melting heat, and an oh-so-swoony epic HEA.
NEW YORK TIMES & USA TODAY bestselling author Melanie Shawn writes HEAs filled with sweet and sassy heroines, heroes who are cinnamon rolls in the streets alpho-holes in the sheets, casts of supportive *cough: meddling* friends and family who put the fun in funny, toe-curling combustible heat, and sugary sweet “aww” moments that will have your hearts and e-readers melting.
This writing duo always leaves me with a smile after reading their books and this series is no exception. While I enjoyed all the books, Flirting with Fate narrowly edges into m favorite book in the series.
Vivien always seemed liked the flighty sister but I love how she changed our persona of her in this book. She is generous, caring and puts others needs before herself. I loved her relationship with Nonna. The pair worked hard to bring joy to the town.
Glenn is a single dad who wants the best for his daughter. He is called to Hope Falls to train but he hasn’t given up on his career. He’s a family man but he’s put off looking for that someone special until Bree, his daughter is older. Bree and Glenn are an adorable father daughter duo. I love their relationship together. Fortunately for both of them , the Hope Effect is strong and these two are drawn together.
The road trip cements their relationship but they are still to leery to take a jump. They go back and forth for most of the book and I yelled at them more then once, but they finally realized they were meant to be.
Finally getting Vivien’s story! After getting to know her character in the past three books, she has become one of my favorites, especially after the last book, and I am so excited for her to get her HEA! Viv has a different background than her sisters, because she has always been very free-spirited while also not wanting to commit to a relationship because of what happened with her parents all those years ago. But now that her sisters have all settled down, she is feeling that she might want that too, but online dating has been quite the disaster for her. Glen has family in town, and when his ex relocates to the area for work, he decides to bring his daughter there so she can continue to spend time with her mother and ends up renting Viv’s old place, who she now is the landlord for. Glen and Viv have instant chemistry, but both of them seem to fight it, mainly because Glen vowed to never date before his daughter left for college and Viv vowed to never date a man with children after a previous relationship. Thankfully, fate intervenes and when Viv works to track down her father, Glen goes along for the ride, and they hash out the feelings they fought for so long. I loved this story for Viv and her HEA with Glen was so great. I can’t wait to see where these authors take us next! I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I loved every page of this book! It's a feel-good, steamy & moving romance. A story every HEA fan will love. Viv's dating life was the worst. She also had one rule. She didn't date guys with kids. Glenn & his daughter, Bree, were visiting Hope Falls for three months. The second Viv & Glenn, saw each other, they were captivated. Great characters & small town charm. A MUST READ!!
Vivien doesn't do commitment and has trust issues that come from her father's abandonment, but after watching her sisters fall in love she is starting to want more. Glenn is a sexy, single dad, and former boxer that has sworn off dating until his six year old daughter, Bree, goes off to college
Together the sparks fly! Filled with plenty of steam, sweetness, humor and small town goodness, this is the perfect ending to this series! I can't wait to see what these ladies give us next!
The long awaited fourth sister's story in the Brewed Awakenings series did NOT disappoint! This book revolved around Vivien and Glenn. Vivi just realized she wants to find happily ever after and Glenn has sworn off dating until his daughter is in college.....but sparks are flying when these two are near each other so you know it's going to be a good story! LOVED THIS!!
Flirting with Fate Glenn and Viv (Vivien) Single dad, Small town The final book in the series
The Hope Falls Effect finally lands hard on the last Wells sister.
Viv is the third of the four Wells sisters. Red headed, hourglass figure, a real life Jessica Rabbit. She’s loud, opinionated, brash, and has no filter. Her best friend is her soon to be brother in law’s ninety two year old grandmother. They bonded over Taylor Swift, tattoos and reality tv. She is loyal to those she loves. She’s been a serial dater, never wanting to settle down. And refuses to date a man with a child. Glenn is a single dad to a six year old daughter. Bree is his whole world. He co parents with his ex. And has temporarily relocated to Hope Falls for the summer, so Bree can be closer to her mom. He’s a former heavyweight champion, and is working with his cousin to train an up and coming fighter. He’s vowed he won’t date again until Bree is in college. Glenn and Viv are hot for each other from the moment they meet. But neither is willing to break their rules for a summer fling. But that becomes harder to do when Glenn and Bree move into the apartment behind Viv’s house. I loved Glenn. He was a great dad, and a genuinely good guy. Viv was a bit harder for me to love. She’s one of those characters that are great in small doses, but when she’s the sole female lead, she was a lot to take. But she grows up a lot by the end of the story. Viv has been on a secret mission for a couple of years. It’s been hinted at, and we finally get some answers about what she’s been up to. The downside. There are a lot of characters in this story. It was hard to keep track of who was who. I read the original four Hope Falls books, and then skipped to this series. I had a hard time keeping track of everyone. It was almost like the author wanted everyone in the entire Hope Falls community to have a cameo in this last book. It was a sweet story. Two people who discover that what they thought was best for them, find out that sometimes it’s the opposite that they really need. It takes awhile, but when these two finally get together, it’s explosive. And a bit scary. Dual points of view No cheating HEA And a nice epilogue that wraps things up.
Flirting with Fate is the fourth book in the Hope Falls: Brewed Awakenings series and it was a great addition to the series. Vivian Wells is the last of the sisters to get a book and it was well worth the wait!
Vivian has always had issues tied to the fact their father abandoned them when they were youngsters and they never heard from him again. It has affected her so much that she has never been interested in finding a long-term relationship for herself. Her view on that is starting to soften after watching all three of her sisters fall in love and find their person. She also has a rule that she doesn't want to be with someone who has a child either as she had an experience where a little one she had become attached to was no longer in her life at all.
Glenn Maguire is a single dad and a former boxer who has come to Hope Falls to help train another up and coming boxer. The plan is for Glenn and Bree, his daughter, to be in Hope Falls for three months over the summer, but after their arrival and spending time with family, Glenn begins to rethink staying indefinitely. He also has those thoughts after meets Vivian at Brewed Awakenings, the coffee shop.
The pull between Viv and Glenn is obvious from the beginning. They are both battling themselves because they have put guardrails in place to keep themselves from getting hurt, but will the chemistry they share and their want to try to make something work propel them together or will they choose to try to stay apart?
There was so much to love about this book and one of the things I liked was how supportive both Glenn and Viv were of each other and the respect they showed for the other. It was clear how much they both cared, but they also appreciated the position the other was in, but in the end their communication and love won out. I'm glad that all of the Wells girls got their HEA!
**I voluntarily read an early copy of this title in exchange for an honest review**
Melanie Shawn never ceases to amaze me with the stories they give their readers. Viv's story was one I had been anticipating since Ava's story. Her story was everything I had hoped...it delved deeper into who she is as a person, who she truly is. Her relationship with Nonna is so sweet and the love she has for her sisters is unbreakable. Glenn Maguire is the perfect match for her and she for him plus the added bonus of little Bree. Those three could not be any cuter together. Then there was the added surprise of a character I never expected to make an appearance.
In true Melanie Shawn fashion this book is full of loveable main characters and side characters, a Hero that battles his own inner self when it comes to his feelings for his heroine, a heroine who is perfectly capable of being an independent woman yet deserves the man who will treasure, protect, and provide for her. Of course I cannot fail to mention the tension between these two that just builds and builds and then finally explodes...Glenn has magnificent will power! I am sad to see this part of Hope Falls be over with...I think these last four books were my favorite! I loved the Wells sisters.
Of the four sisters, Viv was the only one who had not found her happily ever after. I loved how she tried to do things for her sisters instead of herself. I think some of that was her guilty feelings about how she treated her oldest sister Grace after their mother died and Grace became their caregiver. She had always been known for casual relationships and never with anyone who had kids. But she was starting to envy her sisters’ relationships. As she looked out her coffee shop window one day she saw the most handsome man she had ever seen. It was Glen McGuire, one of the McGuire boys brothers who lived in town. To her shock he and his six year old daughter was going to rent her mother-in-law house out back for three months. The more Viv got to know Glen’s daughter Bree, the more she fell in love with the little girl. I loved that Glenn used to have a fantasy about Jessica Rabbit and that is exactly what Viv looked like! Glenn and Viv both had hang ups about dating, but it sure was fun watching the two fall in love. There are some hot scenes, precious scenes, and forgiving scenes in the book that I loved. I strongly encourage you to read the book. I was given a copy and voluntarily wrote a review.
Flirting with Fate is the fourth installment of the Hope Falls: Brewed Awakenings series by Melanie Shawn and follows the final Wells sister getting her HFE/HEA! Go Vivien!
Vivien is the outspoken sister. Red hair, sarcastic, fun, and a serial dater. But what happens when she feels she is at a turning point in her life and it's time to make some adjustments. She wants what her sisters hVe, she wants that HFE ending that the rest of Hope Falls seems to have gotten.
Glenn "The Gladiator" McGuire is in Hope Falls to be nearer to his daughter's mother and to train a world class fighter at Lucky's Gym. So when one of the first people he meets in town literally leaves him speechless, he knows this summer is going to be on interesting ride.
Both have their own set of rules that being with the other breaks, so are they willing to jusy bend the rules or can they completely break them? I loved the chemistry and flirty nature of all of Viv's and Glenn's interactions! The book was laugh out loud funny and I didn't want to put it down!
I have read all the previous books in the brewed awakening series and enjoyed them so much that I can happily read them again. But this book, Flirting with Fate is my absolute favorite. Vivien Wells never wanted to find her Prince Charming, but after watching all three of her sisters find true love, she is thinking differently. There was only one female in Glenn Maguire’s life that mattered to him, his daughter Aubrey, and he decided he will not date till she is in college. But when he moves to Hope Falls and meets Vivien, his resolve is put to test and how :) :). Glenn and Viv are 2 strong yet vulnerable characters and they were just perfect for each other. They got each other - I loved how Glenn knew the real reason why Viv doesn’t date single dads without her telling him, which was amazing. And their chemistry was Hot Hot Hot. Along with some great secondary characters, and an adorable six year old, this is a book not to be missed.
We are back in Hope Falls with the last single Wells sisters. Sisters whose father left when they were toddlers and later lost their mother at a young age. Vivien Star Wells loves life, is a Jessica Rabbit lookalike and is known for not committing to a relationship, especially with a man with a child. But lately, she’s decided she wants someone special. Glenn Maguire, single dad and former boxer, made a promise to himself that he would not be in a relation until his six year old was off to college. What neither expected was that from the moment they met, their lives would be forever changed. But can they trust their feelings? Can they take a leap of faith and change what they thought was best for them when what’s best is being together? As always these authors deliver a touching, wonderful story about family, life, hope and love. Another winner in this series. I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
OMG. Finally got Viv's story. Loved this story. Viv, the red headed Jessica Rabbit lookalike who's never wanted a relationship with Prince Charming, is finally ready after seeing her sister find love, to get her happy ever after. Glenn Maguire has only one female he wants in his life, his daughter Aubrey aka Bree. He relocates to Hope Falls for the summer so his daughter can spend time with his family and her mother, who works in the area. He's on a sabbatical from women when he runs into the Jessica Rabbit lookalike and is immediately enchanted. His daughter is also immediately in love with Viv as well. Viv tries her best but to not get involved with Glenn because she doesn't date single dads. But tries as she might she Falls hard and fast for both. Wonderful antics, tearjerking moments, a wedding, and a gala add to the mix of romance. Great interactions with others from Hope Falls including Vivs best friend, an 92 year old tattooed, Taylor Swift fan.
Vivian Wells was the last of the Wells sisters to look and try to find her “someone special”. Vivian had her own set of rules and she always followed them. Her bright red hair and sexy figure made her a target to be referred to as “Jessica Rabbit”, a cartoon character. Glenn Maguire, a single father, an sexy alpha male and retired boxer, entered her sisters coffee shop to meet is daughter. Both of their lives instantly changed before their eyes. Bree, Glenn’s young daughter, had an sudden attraction to Viv because of she reminded Bree of her favorite character, Giselle, from the movie “Enchanted”. Viv’s rule of not dating men with children was becoming a challenge she had to face. Glenn vowed he wouldn’t date until his daughter was out of his home and in college. Glenn and Viv crossed many hurdles including their past history and family issues. Hopefully, the Hope Falls Effect will work once again. This is a beautifully written story about love, faith, and family compassion.
Viv finally gets her story!!! I’ve absolutely loved Viv in her sisters stories and was so excited to finally read hers, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint! Viv is one of the Wells sisters. She’s outspoken, bold, brutally honest and hilarious. She meets Glenn in her coffee shop and they’re both speechless. When Viv is gifted a house, Glenn and his adorable little girl move into the back house. Now Viv has always had a “no kids” rule when it came to dating and Glenn has a “no dating until Bree’s off to college” rule, but these two are constantly drawn together. Watching these two fight their attraction, due to their rules, is almost painfully frustrating because it’s so clear that sparks are flying! Viv is still Viv, Glenn is amazing and Bree is simply adorable. They were meant to be a family. Absolutely loved loved loved this book and highly recommend it!
I have loved this series, and have been waiting for the man that finally won over Vivi. I knew he was going to have to be someone special. We have seen Viv throughout the series, and I’ve loved her relationship with Nonna. She’s the wild child of the Wells girls, the serial dater, the one that had never planned on settling down until she saw all her sisters fall for the Hope Falls Effect. Suddenly she’s realizing maybe she’s missing out and wants more.
Enter Glenn, a single dad who is only in town for three months and has sworn off dating. He also is immediately attracted to Viv and her Jessica Rabbit looks, but fights that attraction tooth and nail.
We are treated to seeing the wonderful cast of characters in this awesome town, as well as watching these two struggle with their feelings for each other. They are perfect for each other, and I loved watching them figure it out.
Sexy, alpha single dad Glenn could not be more perfect for the sexy siren Vivian!! The final Well's sister Vivian is the most anticipated book by far!! With many trust issues stemming from her father abandoning them when they were little, Viv never felt that love connection to any man until the hunky Glenn broke down her barriers!! Grab this book and enjoy many hijinks from family members and enjoy Glenn and his sassy 6 year old daughter Bree, who you can not help but fall in love with!! With many hurdles jumped, this couple finally enjoys their HEA and you will enjoy reading this fabulous conclusion but hopefully not the conclusion for Hope Falls!! Fingers crossed (:
This was a great way to wrap up the brewed awakening series! I've been looking forward to Viv's book since I started this series. Viv has been adamant that she will not be falling in love with anyone anytime soon, shying away from commitment but having her three sisters fall in love and find happiness has made her reconsider. Glenn MacGuire moves to town with his 6 year old daughter and life changes for both he and Viv. He made a promise he wouldn't date someone until his daughter was in college but meeting Viv has him questioning his decision and rethinking things.
This book was sweet and I loved the relationship between Viv and Glenn. I loved how the Wells family grew over these four books and that they're now a bigger and even happier family.
This book was an enjoyable read. I've been waiting for Vivien's book for a long time and this book did not disappoint. I've been wondering why Vivien has had her rules about dating and had a feeling that some of her "rules" would have to change for her to find her HEA and this book did not disappoint.
I love how Glenn knew what Vivien needed and started to help her before he even realized they could be something more. I think that Vivien needed closure on her father before she could move on so I'm glad that she and her sisters finally got the answers they needed.
There is something about Hope Falls that makes people fall in love.
Glenn comes to town for three months with his adorable little girl Bree. Viv doesn’t date single dads because she is afraid of falling for the child only to lose them. Well, that would be okay if it weren’t for the Hope Falls Effect. Thanks to that, it’s love at first sight. And you are going to love this book.
Melanie Shawn does it again in the latest book in the series. Add it to your reading list for spring.
I received an ARC of this book for an honest review.
'If his face was on a coin, I'd be a coin collector'
Throughout this series you imagine Viv needing someone as wild and crazy as her...but is she really wild and crazy? Or does she crave the soul mate, the picket fence and the kids? Both Glenn and Viv have rules but with a little interfering from Bree and Nonna and a chemistry that explodes from the page, their rules are left shattered. Another sizzling hot Hope Falls Effect romance that has you packing your bags to move to Hope Falls. I am gutted this is the last book in the Brewed Awakenings series but look forward to more from Hope Falls soon.
Finally, we get the flirty and fiery Vivien and her very own Hope Falls magic. Viv is one of those fascinating side characters that light up the scenes she's in and I've waited for her main story. It wasn't what I expected for her as it was so much better. This was perfect for her and I loved every single thing about it. Well written, fun, witty banter and all the chemistry you'll need and more. Now I'm just sad I finished it… Then again, Jessica Rabbit finally got her HEA, so that makes it all ok.
What a great addition to this series and this one is by far my favorite. I absolutely love the small town of Hope's Falls there is always magic in the air. That is why it is love at first sight for Vivien and Glenn. The problem is that Vivien doesn't date single dads and Glenn isn't dating until his daughter is in college. I think fate has other things in store for these two. Absolutely incredible story that you do not want to miss reading. Once you start you will not be able to stop until you reach the last page. I highly recommend this book. I voluntarily reviewed this book in exchange for an honest review.
A great story of Vivian and Glenn and their search for their HEA. Both weary of relationships for different reasons. Bree was a sweet surprise. Had to read this book in one setting so you don’t want to miss this one. Lots of family, lots of love. 💕 Another small town romance from Melanie Shawn. I have given my honest opinion for an ARC.
Amazing! Viv finally opened her huge heart and let some one worthy in. I had tears in my eyes as I read the last few chapters. Simply beautiful. I loved Bree and her and Vivs relationship. It was great to finally meet Mason Wells and get my own closure on why he left his family all those years ago. Loved catching up with all the other fave residents too. A brilliant, emotionally charged read.
Great book! Melanie Shawn did it again! So happy that Viv got her happy ever after. Viv had a set of rules that she was going by and the main one was no kids. Well Glen moves to Hope Falls and has a daughter and has his own rules-no dating til Bree is in college. Bree is all about Viv, ever since the first meeting in the coffee shop. Can they both move past their rules and make it work?
Aww, I loved this final book in the series! Vivien and Glenn made a good match even though they both had reasons to deny that anything could happen. It was fun watching them navigate their attraction while denying that it existed. So wish there were more books to come!
I have loved every Hope Falls and Brewed Awakenings book but I have to say, this is my favorite to date. Vivian is such a bold character, it took a special man to be her match and Glenn filled the bill. I loved this book so much!
