PRIMAL INSTINCT
What was supposed to be the seat of power after the nuclear holocaust, the Anthill, a vast installation inside Mount Rushmore, is still a rich source of technological marvels - and a new power base of destruction. Suspecting a trap, Kane and his fellow exiles venture to this hot spot via mat-trans to face an army of bioengineered monstrosities, a secret weapon and an old enemy conspiring to jump-start the second wave of Armageddon.
In the Outlands, the battle to reclaim the future has begun.
The story does not slow down, nor does it gain any semblance of reality, but that is why it is fiction, isn't it:) The bad boy dwarf is very fun to read and our supper-hero keep on being super human! The series is still a bunch of fun :)
This fast paced Outlanders tale starts with a bang, literally, as the defenders of humanity strike at Dulce once again and bring down a massive triangular craft being used by the hybrids to harvest genetic material from the Outlands. It’s a great opening salvo (not Salvo) to a fast paced adventure that sees the team end up at one of the most interesting places yet: the massive complex of the Anthill.
This is the place from which the Barons gained all their power, a massive storehouse of all thing pre-dark, a facility so daunting and filled with powerful items that the Barons themselves shun it. The twisted dwarf Sindri has found his way to the facility, searching for anything to help him in his insane machinations.
A call for help from Sindri is actual a double cross as he is working with cyborg pre-dark scientists who have lost the plot a long time ago, but one particular borg has her sights set on Lakesh, and uses the dwarf to get the team to the facility.
This is a great Outlanders tale, the pacing is excellent, with once again, Mr. Ellis finding more ways to surprise and delight with these characters, while at the same time giving them great story arcs that change and develop the group. On top of that it has one of the best covers yet for this series, and as an aside, has anyone tried using Grants method to bring down one of these UFOs we are seeing everywhere ?? 😂
This novel was very good. There were some great character interaction along with fascinating insight into Lakesh and his past as well as some intense action sequences.
Set in the same world as the Deathlands series. These books follow another set of adventures in the post holocaust world. Good men's adventures series. Recommended
