Billionaires are like another species. And my new boss? I think he might actually be from another galaxy…

Evidence that my new jerk of a boss isn’t human:

1. He keeps the office ice-cold - and I’m the one who has turn the temperature down in front of the freezing staff! Sorry… just doing what the boss ordered…
2. He calls cinnamon buns “moon-shaped treats,” and manages to chomp them down by the dozen while keeping a drool-worthy muscled physique.
3. He writes in a language that looks like hieroglyphics and calls emails “blinks”.
4. He’s got a tattoo on his chest that I swear glows when I get near.

There’s something different about my new boss, and it’s not his eight-figure bank account and seven-foot frame.

Finance billionaires aren’t supposed to look like a giant barbarian stuffed into a ten-thousand-dollar suit, and when Ragar Parks storms into the office, he owns it. The entire floor trembles.

He’s intimidating as hell. So intimidating, I almost fall over when I first see him.

Alright. Full disclosure. I fall over. Great first impression, especially working for a guy who just went through three secretaries in the last week. I expect him to fire me on the spot, but when he calls me into his office, and I’m alone with the intimidating billionaire…

His eyes devour my curves like he’s starving.

He’s got secrets, and I’m determined to figure them out - if I can survive the catty front desk staff, the over-the-top office manager, and the dark world of billion-dollar deals that I’m suddenly pulled into.

But when I dare to trespass on his private floor and see his true form…

I don’t know if he’s going to kiss me…

Or eat me.

Grumpy Minotaur Boss is book one in the Taurok Minotaurs Curvy Girl Fated Mates series, a fun new mix between billionaire romantic comedy and possessive, protective aliens who would do anything for their Fated Mates. Ends on a happy for now - this is the first book in a new series, and the storyline is not wrapped up in this book.

This is the first book in a series.

Sarah gets a job as an assistant to the CEO of a financial firm, Ragar. Nobody knows him, but he suddenly bought the company, loves cinnamon buns and keeps the office freezing.
Ragar and Sarah has some kind of connection from the first meeting, but he is very hot and cold towards her. She has trouble understanding what he wants.

It turns out that Ragar is an shape-shifter alien General from Greyfin. He is a leader of their troops, married to the battlefield. Now his been summoned to investigate the humans, and collect data for the judgment.

”What a waste this Judgement is. Humans. That’s what they call themselves. I call them a waste of time and resources.”

I’m not sure what will happen after they come to some conclusion, but it safe to say that the humans is not impressing the aliens.

I was disappointed in this book. It lacked humour and development. I didn’t connect with any character, there was no real banter or dialogue that created some connection between these MC’s. There was almost no chemistry or sex. It was more about Sarah organisation his office or running errands. Sarah finds out the truth the last pages. There was no cliffhanger, but no ending either. A lot of questions is still unanswered.

- No cheating
- No OM/OW drama
- HFN?
- Series

The premise of this book was intriguing. Short of actual Greek Mythology, you don’t come across Minotaurs as the heroes of any romance.
Ms. Elm is a new author for me and from this book I’ve gotten the impression that she has a lot more World development in store for the reader, it’s just that I’m not sure it is necessary.

Earth is being judged, and so far it’s not making the cut. Ragar is a warrior, but gets chosen as a Judge - something he is not happy about - as humanity fails to impress. They are a greedy, selfish and annoying creatures. Then his human assistant Sarah turns out to be his soulmate.
It’s not exactly clear on how this will impact on his judgement, as inter-species mating, while possible is not discussed. Ragar does not explain.

Who exactly made them judges of other species is unknown. But we also know that the Judges are not exactly uncorrupted and seek their own interests.
Much of the story does not add up. The focus is on Ragar, who is huge, handsome and rich. He’s no one’s fool, and his grumpiness is transient.

This story ends abruptly and sloppy, with many unanswered questions. It is the first in a series, which leaves me wondering if I’m intrigued enough to find out what happens next. The bonus Chapter did not improve the end.

Quirks yes, humor, not so much.

Minotaur Boss . . .

This story features a romance between an alien, Ragar Parks, living on Earth as a billionaire CEO. He finds his mate, a human assistant named Sarah, who fortunately is not afraid to stand up to the grumpy boss. At least she’s not afraid until she trespasses on the boss’ private floor and sees him in his actual form. Will he be seducing her, or having her for a snack?

It's. Erm. Well. Lots of typos. But I think the biggest thing about it is the letdown. It waves from its subtitle as being 'a quirky alien billionaire rom-com,' but where is the quirky? and where is the rom-com?
It's not comedic AT ALL, and the only 'quirk' our heroine has is the fact she might be a little plus size (although I bet she's a US size 14, so lower end I'd wager).

It was so weird to click on this book in my Kindle because the cover and title both lean to it being an ENTIRELY different reading experience than it turned out to be.

I mentioned the typos right? They're everywhere, and they're annoying. Like, stuff didn't get edited type-of-typo, not the sentences were weird type of strange.

So yeah.
It was really, really rough.

The main guy's a faucet that's constantly turned off and on, the chick's personality does not correspond to her actions--and the very reason he likes her (she's not greedy like other humans?) doesn't actually compute, because as soon as she gets the company card, she's a big spender and passes it off as 'meh, he can afford it?' I dunno' man. It doesn't add up. So when they get to the falling in love (apparently three days in) it's a muddle of, 'but why? wait. I don't get it. How?'

Very confused.
Not great. Interesting premise, but the 'galaxy's good guys' seem like they're all selfish assholes, and what a way to write a civilization who's slated to be the controlling force of all space's sentient species.

The think tank had promise.
But the plot is meh at best, and the execution meh at worst.

Oh.
Also.
Cliffhanger. But in a super strange way. It's like the book gave up on itself rather than setting up for a following novel.

Just saying.
Very confused.

dnf at 88%

Okay so I made it through most of this book. Besides the fact that it is in dire, dire need of an editor… it also didn’t really make sense. Not enough was explained and just poorly sprinkled throughout the book. It’s got erotic tones without actually ending up being erotic so there is really no point in even half of the little snippets because it’s not sexy. It’s really one of the least sexy books I have read.

Also it’s not actually funny. I don’t get the “com” part of the rom-com aspect. It wasn’t even anything that I cracked a smile over. It wasn’t worth finishing imho. I am glad it was free. I wish it was better. I really wanted to like it.

It’s like an attempt at a slow burn except if you never read a slow burn at all ever.

dnf

I really wanted to like this book but I ended up dnf it at about 70 percent I just couldn’t choke it down. The “tension” between the two main characters was… lacking? It just felt very forced and the fated mates just seemed lazy.

Also one thing that made me super angry was the fact the fmc is plus sized. Yay! But then she is getting g cinnamon rolls for her boss (which he eats 12 ) and then she says she doesn’t want him to lose his hot figure so she isn’t going to get them anymore. That is completely two faced. I don’t want my hot boss to get fat but I am fat and worthy. Cmon.

Not good

I thought this was going to be a cute lil read but wow that was difficult to finish, it took a lot of effort from beginning to end.

They are so hot and cold with no resolution or explanation. And even when they’re cold, it only takes 2 seconds for them to suddenly be fine and calling each other pet names? There’s just no tension or build-up at all, and that’s the entire point of these books, isn’t it?

Sarah is supposed to be smart, but she’s really not. She makes assumptions and doesn’t ask or wait for clarity, and then she thinks “I trust him” which no, she doesn’t otherwise she wouldn’t constantly be assuming the worst. Her internal dialogue is also full of body-checking, despite talking about how confident she is multiple times (spoiler alert, she’s not).

They go from not talking to fucking in like 2 hours and then the next morning they’re back with another stupid miscommunication conflict. And then he barely explains anything but she doesn’t have any questions and boom the book is done. The dialogue leaves a lot to be desired.

The editing also needs a lot of work. Typos can totally ruin the scene and some are pretty obvious.

Quite a fun new series

I enjoyed the characters and the storyline. Sarah’s interior monologues about potentially losing herself and wondering if her old goals are still her goals reminded me of The Prince and Me. I’d like to see that struggle continue into the next novel.

Speaking of the next novel, because of how this one ended on a bit of a cliffhanger, I’m assuming it will continue Ragnar and Sarah’s story. I’m really hoping that Layla finds love as well at some point- she’d make a great protagonist.

I wish Ragnar and Sarah had had a couple more meaningful interactions. I get that the pull is biological, but I think them having more interactions would build up the tension more as well as have us rooting for them more than we currently are.

As far as editing goes- the grammar needs work. There were tons of misplaced punctuation, repeated words, and incorrect words (like autocorrect changing one word to another).

I’m really excited to see where this story goes and to explore more of the world Elm has created- I still have so many questions about Taurok!

Was expecting a little more

I wanted to like this book soooo much! Was looking forward to it but so much was left out of this book.

1- not enough conversations between the characters so not much connection happening.

2- the lack of chemistry seem to come from the individual imaginations of the characters and nothing really connected the two mcs

3- All seems to be happening without spending too much time together, also the characters seem to have their own dialogue in their minds barely have them together.

4- the characters were hot/cold too often, there were a few mistakes that took me out of the story because of this

5- this one is the most important one, the plot was promising at first but there was no real resolution and the two mcs were left in limbo with soooooo many questions!!

Like I said I wanted to like this book so badly! But it just didn’t work out. 3.5/10 ⭐️

Disappointing.

It had all the ingredients to be great and it fell flat. Story line wasn’t developed enough nor given enough time. MC’s sexual chemistry was there from day 1 but the romance/connection wasn’t built enough. H went from hating humans and hating that his mate was human & scared he’d lose everything he’s worked for to (seemingly) overnight saying he’d risk it all for her. There’s also much contradiction with H’s overheating & shifting issues. It seems like author forgot he had these issues sometimes.

“Ending” of the book left a lot to be desired as no real ending?!! Will not be continuing with the series.

Incomplete Story

This story just ends rather abruptly. It simply ends stating that the scene (presumably a s-e-x one) that the author wanted to end with was too much for Amazon censorship. (Why I can not say as there are some very uncensored hard core books on Kindle.)

Even though the h & H are together at the end it’s only for a second, so it feels unfinished. I understand that the author plans on writing more in the series and will most likely answer unfinished questions about the series arc, but the relationship of these main characters feels strangely cut off. I have no idea if the next book continues with these characters or moves on to related ones.

The story does not conclude in book 1! Happy for now ending

So important! This book ends as 'Happy For Now' but the couple still have a long ways to go before their story concludes. I have to say, I have this book three stars mostly because I was able to finish it, but I didn't love it. The writing feel so strong and the characters had so much potential and amazing heat, BUT, the plot was a hot mess. It wasn't a bad plot or premise, but it could have been much stronger to match the authors writing and characters. Not long a long read, but worth a shot!

This book was absolutely awful. I'm not sure how I dragged myself through it. The first 1/4 was pretty cute, especially the Ragar parts, and the world the author was building was interesting. But then... It was like she just wrote the last 3/4 on her phone while she was on the toilet. The story and writing dropped to the level of a high schooler's 2nd draft in English, the characters fell apart and made no sense, the story ended abruptly and nonsensically, full of errors and missing words and even a random period where it didn't belong. Looked like a text I typed too fast on my phone! Barf. I'm mad I read it.

I wanted to like this and it had a promising start. However, the heroine flipped from being angry with the hero to liking him before the hero showed a softer side. The ending -- which I guess could be classified as a "happy for now" -- was too abrupt and less than satisfying. Also, there is a B-plot that is left hanging. With all that said, I enjoyed the tone and style of this author's writing so if the author writes another book I would be willing to give it a shot.

Author didn't bother explaining most of the H's actions. After they kissed, the H became distant from the h the next day in their office. There was no Ragar's pov to explain his behavior.

Suddenly, he was back to normal on the gala day. So WTH?? The premise and concept is good, but author needs to improve and avoid plot holes!

How dare you leave it on a cliffhanger like this?

It’s slow burn and super angsty. The fated mates trope is cool but it also resulted in an insta-love situation between the MMC and FMC, which I didn’t like. Especially considering that they didn’t like each other and he’s such a grump.

Spice: 2/5 only really happens once, so that was kinda unsatisfying. Can’t wait for book 2.

This certainly was a different spin on an office romance - grumpy minotaur? Yep, indeed he was, but she had a fab spine and, as you may imagine, things take off from there ;) This is a new-to-me author and book 1 for a new series so I'm very interested to see how the next installment goes.
