Raid on the Inarticulate

Rate this book
A book of poems by bestselling author Deepak Chopra that are deeply spiritual, heartfelt, and touch on topics like God, love, surrender, shadow, and peace.Poetry is the language of the soul, according to Deepak Chopra, and in RAID ON THE INARTICULATE, he shares a collection of poems that, in his words, can very elegantly show us the truth of paradox and ambiguity. Poetry can be a source of awakening and revelation, and the poems in this book focus on conundrums, existential dilemmas, and consciousness; they're about love, peace, the timelessness of the mind, freedom, surrender, God, and the journey to the self.

I went into this poetry book blind after spontaneously purchasing it. I’ve never read anything from Deepak Chopra before, but I really enjoyed these poems. It’s a different style than Rupi Kaur and Amanda Lovelace. The poems were longer and more spiritual. Overall, Raid on the Inarticulate was a quick, short read and very refreshing.

I picked up this book because I was looking for poetry that is not plagued by the modern day view on love and romantism. This was a bit wild, very universalist focused, perhaps a little bit too spiritual for my liking.

... poetry, like meditation, allows us to slip into the gap between thoughts and get in touch with the karmic software of our souls. Here are insights and epiphanies, revelations, and a world of enchantment, such as we have never dreamed of in our ordinary waking state of consciousness."

This is my first book--about anything--by Deepak Chopra. The truth is that I stumbled across the very slim collection of poems and thought "Why not?" I did not know anything about the author going in, so I wasn't expecting the high level of spiritualism. The whole thing was very meta... which sometimes carried an air of pretentiousness.

Favorite poem: "I Must Make Peace With My Shadows"

My God...Chopra could shit on paper and people would buy it for $16.95.

He is the absolute end-all of consumer-capitalism. Seriously, however can make of Deepak-bot would make millions.

It's very rare that I am inspired to pick up a book of poetry. I stumbled upon this one while at work & felt myself deeply intrigued by the possibly of contents these pages held. From the Forward you quickly catch on to Chopra's use of language. While straight forward in meaning there is a deeper sense of meaning that seeps it's way into the fabric of your soul.

This work is broken up into 3 sections, titled: Songs to Myself, Invisible Forces, & Magical Beginnings. By assuming these themes, it felt like there was a thread weaving together a journey of the soul through each of the selected poems. For example, Songs to Myself held a rhythmic pacing through out each poem. Where as Magical Beginnings rounded out the image of a cycle/ journey.

I will definitely be purchasing a copy to add to my collection. There are many poems i can see myself revisiting just to let the message sink in a little deeper. There's no other way to describe this work than a balm for the soul.

Very spiritual in the humanist and interconnectedness of the universe sense. I think if I found this when I was 21 and searching for the answer to the universe through erm.. recreational means... I would've enjoyed it much more than I did now.

I personally found it a bit repetitive, as I don't jive with this expression of spirituality... But if you like humanism, you'll love these! There were a few lines that were really beautifully written and I loved the intro.

I prefer Chopra's novel-length works more than his poetry.

This collection of poetry is like talking to God and not in a positive way. Affirmation after affirmation of being a child, a figure in a past life, being the whole universe inside one body, blah blah blah.

Felt like pyramid scheme language. Some nice insights into bearing witness to the universe, being an interpreter of your environment. Glad I didn't read this at a low point in life because otherwise, I'd be sucked into buying a online leadership course or changing religions.

As expected from Deepak Chopra, the theme is spiritual and he writes of the metaphysical. Short collection of beautiful poetry.

Repetitive imagery, jarring insertion of scientific terminology, shallow spirituality
