Great series, but…
This is more of a review of the whole Enigma/Collectibles series than just this piece of it. I adored the complex plot and the ability to see events from several different characters’ perspectives over time. The characters are for the most part multidimensional, though there are a few that are kind of caricatures (Vincent and Madden McGee in particular). This is a pretty good mix of thriller and spice, though this last installment is lighter on the spice than I’d like. I would have loved to give all the books in the series five stars, but I can’t because…
The editing is absolutely horrendous. So many word usage and grammatical errors that it constantly took me out of the story with a groan and an eye roll. I managed to get over all the Aussieisms being used by characters who were 100% American, but an author and editor who don’t know “he’s” from “his” or “debunked” from “defunct” just don’t deserve five stars in my book. I am considering whether or not to read any more from this author because as much as I enjoy the stories, the abysmal editing and frequent mistakes may not be worth it for me.
