Where do I begin…? I am planning on applying for a scholarship this year. One of the requirements is filming a video for the application. They said that the quality of the view doesn’t matter, but who are we kidding here. So I looked into video productions until I stumbled across this book. I only bought it honestly because I have read this author’s work before, and I have always appreciated his works. This book is beginner-friendly; the language and choice of words are not too technical, so you can rest easy as you get into it. I appreciated more about this book because it has key takeaways to come back to. I know he has a class on Udemy on OBS, so I plan to hop in there. This book has taught me a lot about OBS than I anticipated. However, I am not too happy with how fast I have read it. I think it is a book that should be read slowly, sort of a coursebook. I would highly recommend it for literally anyone, beginners or advanced consumers.

Too much about NDI

I was grateful to learn about background removal without a green screen and image masks to allow for different shaped webcam feeds. The author mainly focussed on NDI but I would have preferred to learn how to set up a stream deck and how to record a guest over zoom without NDI, maybe the info given about virtual audio cables might work for this but it is very confusing. Unfortunately the info is out of date because web captioner is no longer around. Adding closed captions was something I really wanted to learn about so I am a little disappointed. Some alternatives were suggested but with no guidance on how to set it up.
