Very Funny. Loved it.
Abby is a runaway princess who is out and incognito on the streets of London. She needs a break from the confines of royal life and seizes it the moment she gets a chance, albeit slightly unprepared with no phone and no money. After she gets into quite an embarrassing pickle, she is rescued by a charming journalist, Jordan, who happens to have a contract to turn in a big expose for a tabloid rag. Jordan quickly figures out Abby’s true identity and realizes that she has the story of a lifetime at her apartment.
This book was just what I needed at just the right time. I had just finished a psychological thriller that left me completely creeped out, so I was totally in the mood for something to lift me back up. Even before I started reading, I was certain that this book would be a total pick-me-up simply because it was written by Miranda MacLeod. I was not wrong.
However, I must admit, after maybe 5-10 pages in, I was having trouble getting into the book. What was wrong with me? Then I realized, it wasn’t this book that was the problem. The problem was I was still working to get out of the funky mood that I was in after having finished the psychological thriller that did not have a happy ending. At. All. I told myself to keep reading, and I did. And, I’m so happy that I did. Jordan is so funny. I was literally laughing out loud when Jordan first meets the Princess and then later when she is locked outside her apartment while the Princess is supposedly inside taking a bath. Extremely well written.
Now, there are a few things that a reader might say something like, “Oh, come on, that’d never happen in real life’. But, these kinds of things happen in Rom-Coms all the time, so take it with a grain of salt and just enjoy the story, because this is a good one. There were several times that I thought to myself, this could be a movie. And that’s why I give this one 5 stars. That, and it brightened my whole mood.
