Hitchhikers are turning up dead in the Alaskan wilderness, found near truck stops along empty stretches of highway. In a lonely, remote landscape, Sadie must comb the insular world of truckers to search for suspects. But, all alone out there, might Sadie find herself a victim?
Special Agent Sadie Price, a 29-year-old rising star in the FBI’s BAU unit, stuns her colleagues by requesting reassignment to the FBI’s remote Alaskan field office. Back in her home state, a place she vowed she would never return, Sadie, running from a secret in her recent past and back into her old one, finds herself facing her demons—including her sister’s unsolved murder—while assigned to hunt down a new serial killer.
Sadie’s investigation leads her into the Alaskan wasteland, full of bleak landscapes, hardened loners, and endless cold. As she fights to piece together the clues, Sadie finds herself in a race against time.
Can she stop the killer before another girl is taken?
An action-packed page-turner, the SADIE PRICE series is a riveting crime thriller, jammed with suspense, surprises and twists and turns that you won’t see coming. It will have you fall in love with a brilliant and scarred new character, while challenging you, amidst a barren landscape, to solve an impenetrable crime.

I am working on the review for this book and series. I did enjoy the series overall but it was serial killer after serial killer in each story all within a very short time period. My review will be copied on all of the stories with a minor variation based on the story line.
The MCs always lose their weapons and each story has them near death. The answers are always stumbled on and the police work was not relevant. To top it off, no evidence can be used to prosecute as the h never followed rules of evidence.
Go in by yourself in a TSTL way to get killed or obtain evidence without a chain of custody... Check!
Make assumptions and ignore obvious signs that you are with the bad guy... Check
Go into bad areas without backup and without telling anyone... Check
No need to worry though as the bad guys will not get a trial.
I do think that the author has talent and hope that she gets lots of feedback to improve the stories overall. She does not use the standard bad guys and adds unique situations and locations. Work with a Detective to learn about the basics of evidence and what will invalidate it.
I found this lonely book at a goodwill shop and happy I snagged it! Not realizing it is 6 of 6 in a series I’ll work backwards now without hesitation. Quick read but loaded with characters and page turning thrill, definitely shocked to find the culprit. Repetition had my eyes rolling a few times drawing notion to the short book to begin with but overall a fun read. 3.5 stars
Only Madness pulled me in. The Alaskan setting is intense — like you can almost feel the cold and the emptiness around the characters. It adds a pressure to everything happening, and that made the story feel heavier in a good way. Sadie continues to be the main thing that keeps me invested. She’s complicated and flawed, but she’s trying. You can feel her past on her shoulders, and that makes even the quiet moments interesting. The plot moves at a good pace, too — I didn’t feel like it dragged. If I’m being honest, I did feel like I was missing a little emotional context sometimes, since this is pretty far into the series. There are certain moments where you can tell the book assumes you already know the history. And a couple of the twists are the type you see a lot in crime thrillers, but they were still executed well. I liked it. It’s atmospheric, tense, and unsettling in the right ways. I’ll keep going with the series.
Sadie is working under inclement weather trying to find the person responsible for abducting and killing women on a highway almost forgotten in Alaska. The story has a good plot, with lots of action against men and especially against the weather, the archenemy in this book. Sadie is also devastated by the news she received regarding her family and it seems like she does not know what to do. Only Madness got me hooked from the beginning and provided very good entertainment for a few hours.
Who is Rylie Dark? Is this and all her/his other books simply computer-generated? Please show me this was written by a person. Search online and you won't find anything but a list of books. Same with Ava Strong, Kate Bold, Molly Black, and more.
The whole series was very good. Kept its own story while maintaining the story throughout the series. I wanted more for an ending, but definitely had the jaw dropper effect. Love this series!
The start of this book didn't seem to hold my interest like other Rylie Dark books had and I almost put it down but decided to continue reading. I did become more interesting as the plot developed but still not up to the quality of other books I have read by this author. This was a let down, some loose ends not tied up. Wonder if there is a 7th book planned. I had initially read this book first and then went back and started the series and read them in order. Still feel this was the least engaging book in the series.
Really loved this series and felt like I was back home in Alaska. I do definitely wish there was some research done on Alaska. I don’t think the author realizes how far Fairbanks and Anchorage are from each other and how it’s not possible to drive there and back and there again in the same day. You also cannot ride a motorcycle in Alaska in winter/early spring. Alaska does not salt the roads, they put gravel down so it gets kicked up constantly and could kill someone on a motorcycle.
