Well, I’m sad to say that this was a pretty disappointing read for me. These books are still sort of likeable for me, but I’m just kind of annoyed and disappointed at this point.

The thing that did it this time was the the repeats of stories that were covered in previous books- and they were practically word for word. Unlike the last book, not everything was repeated, but I’d say it was a 50/50 between the story being new or something that already happened.

I really don’t know why the author has chosen to do this, but it doesn’t really make much sense to me- why repeat stuff you already covered? It’s annoying and disappointing. If you’re out of ideas, stop making half-hearted books.

I guess since my last two read of this series were disappointing, I’m sad to say this will most likely be my last read of this series. These books were good, but the repeating of information is just annoying and disappointing.

I would have loved to give this 5 stars. Not only is it a BCN Comic collection, but it's a book named for my favorite BCN cat, Pucky! However, this seems to be half reprints from earlier books. This was really disappointing, and I wish someone would have mentioned it before I went out and bought myself a copy. Because, had I known that, I would have just borrowed it from my local library. Sure...there's some new (to book format) material, but I wanted ALL new (to book format) material. As I feel it should, as the comic is still running daily. So no shortage.

It was still cute and I still enjoyed it. I just don't think I'll be buying any more of these. More like borrowing them.

OH MY WORD I LOVE THESE BOOKS!
Filled with hilarious adventures, big news from little cats, and a sweet, silly stories from the point of view of some very opinionated felines! The way they see their world is AMAZING, and their adventures and anecdotes had be bursting out with laughter many times. I had to force myself to put these down to go to sleep. Humor, tender moments, ridiculous adventures, and pandemonium collide in this delightful artful graphic novel! <3

I love Breaking Cat News

This is one of my favorite comic strips. I love the kitties and their friends and all the characters. The author, Georgia Dunn, really knows cats and captures their quirks and personalities wonderfully. I live with felines, too, and one loved bacon the way Puck does.

Wonderful cat nonsense

Follow Lupin, Puck, and Elvis as they figure out The Secret of the Vacuum, engage in wrestle-mania, attack the Cuckoo clock, and generally engage in engaging behavior!

Smiles, snorts and laughs...along with a few, thoughtful sighs...are guaranteed thanks to this feline newscast and their very-close-to-home coverage.

This book follows the beloved BCN gang and allows Pucky to stand on center stage. Of course, it's not just about this wonderful cat, but the entire crew is ready to bring across every bit of breaking news, which hits their family's lives. And these are so familiar that it hits home in all the most sweet and funny ways.

Cat fans will love the antics of these pets and shake their heads and the very odd, yet familiar situations they discover of find themselves in. Parents will have no problem feeling for the human family as they deal with the events of daily life and all the unexpected moments having a baby adds to the mix. Even young readers will find the quirky and ridiculous experiences silly and wish they had such a cat report team in their own house. So this read offers silliness and humor on many different levels and for quite a large crowd.

The illustrations are spot on. Since this is my first time running across this bunch, I was surprised at the original style, but it very quickly won me over. There's such a playful atmosphere, which allows the fantasy to flow in with cartoon appeal...which is great since these jokes slide very tight with reality, otherwise. It adds the right separation to let the reader experience the entire thing with a fun distance and laugh at situations.

As an extra bonus, there are several pages at the end, which invite readers to color the characters themselves. In other words, there is ton to love in these pages. I received a DRC and enjoyed this bunch of cats quite a bit.

Actually I'd give this a 4.5 rating-- I enjoyed it thoroughly, but thinking about it as a gift I hesitated because unless someone knows the strip I'm not sure it would be appreciated. Maybe a page or two in the front to set it up and introduce the characters? It's marketed as a children's book so there are coloring pages in the back. I don't have a problem with that, as I just want people to read and enjoy. The strips seem to follow an entire year with on-going storylines interrupted by the Sunday strip with is a standalone. If I had any suggestion for lay out, it would be to finish the storyline in however many strips and then use the Sunday strip as a bridge to start the next storyline. In fairness, it often worked out that way, there were just a few instances.

As for the content itself, I have been addicted to the adventures of Elvis, Puck, Lupin, Tommy, Sophie, etc. since the days when Georgia Dunn just posted them online. Back then, there were many panels in an episode but since syndication to papers (yay, Georgia!) she has had to follow the three block style. This hasn't really affected the quality of the art or really of the storytelling, though I sometimes suspect she would have gone into more detail had she not been under that restriction. But that may all be in my head because of being aware of the previous style. This is a charming, sweet, good-hearted strip with delightful characters. Highly recommended.

This is described as book 5 in the series, but there are actually 6 books and I have them all. I've been following this strip online for several years now, and it is an absolute joy. This collection is from 2018 or so when "the boy" was a baby. ("OMG it's like 'Tarzan' with housecats!") No one who is owned by cats can fail to recognize their own darlings here. ("mommy's little pirate ballerina!") Who hasn't saved a found cat whisker? (Guilty.) I have to say the planned demise of the vacuum cleaner was one of my favorite series. And the mailman siting. And Fluffapurrus Rex. Pucky's ode to the 4th of July picnic (This ham is my ham...sung to the tune of, yeah, you know.) And my new favorite phrase with my 6 cats is now going to be "Cuteness has reached THREAT LEVEL CUPCAKE!"

I don’t pretend to have the slightest bit of objectivity when it comes to Breaking Cat News: it is easily my favourite comic strip and I have bought and will buy anything Georgia Dunn decides to publish, the moment it is available. This is the sixth book compiling the BCN comic strips, and includes such wonderful bits as the moment when Puck discovers that the dreaded vacuum cleaner is - gasp! - also a Mom (to a dust buster) and Elvis’s bonding with the new Baby. Ms. Dunn bases her strip on her own family, including three cats (Lupin, Elvis and Puck - actually, there’s a fourth cat now, Goldie, but she doesn’t appear in this book) and imagines what kinds of events three indoor cats would find newsworthy if they had a cable news station. Puck is my favourite of the cats (shhh - don’t tell Elvis or Lupin!), so I’m especially happy with this book as it features him more than the others, but as I said, I will buy any BCN material I can get. Comes with several pages at the back with drawings of the various cats that your youngster (or yourself) can colour. Clearly, very highly recommended!

As a long-time reader of Breaking Cat News, this is a blast from the past. Though with an updated format, and wonderfully done. And there were also a few strips that were new to me.
Pucky is the shyest of the reporter boys. He's kind and caring and just lovable (all of them are). In this book we get to see all of his sides, because while he is all of the above he is also brave and stands up for what he believes in. And when food is involved he becomes determined to get a bite. Along with his fellow reporters, Elvis and Lupin, they get up in all sort of hijinks and usually come out of it wiser or at least not defeated.
This is a wonderful read, anyone with a cat will recognise the situations these cats get into and get a laugh out of it. Other times the situations will be surprising and/or delightful. 5/5 stars

Breaking Cat News brings you more inside scoop comic moments from the household as a new baby arrives, seasons come and go, the vacuum continues to bring its reign of terror, a cuckoo clock invades, and bacon must be dealt with.

Another fun collection of comics featuring Man, Woman, Toddler, Baby, Pucky, Elvis, and Lupin. Georgia Dunn is a genius in transforming everyday events into comic gold from a cat's perspective. The war against the vacuum is particularly believable; and as I was traumatized by my grandparents' cuckoo clock as a very young child, I wholeheartedly agree with the cat's description of it. Lots of fun for all ages.

No content issues. (Well, some plants don't make it, and that bacon is toast, but that's as bad as the violence gets.)

This is my favorite BCN publication since the very first one. There are quite a few bits that really tickled my funny bone as a fellow cat lover. The book covers an entire year in the family apartment. The vacuum makes so many appearances that Elvis concocts a plan for the three cats to disable it forever -- until Puck discovers the baby vacuum(dustbuster). Lupin is obsessed with the crinkly wrappers in the heart box of Valentine chocolates. There are some really funny panels about cat hair with slogans like "Cat hair, we care" and "countless pieces of encouragement." My personal favorite is "We can not defeat plaid." Oh, and there is bacon! So much fun in one little book. Check it out for yourself.

This book contains some of my favorite "alter egos" of the BCN reporters. We get to see the photo of Elvis as "Mommy's little pirate ballerina." We see Lupin turn into Fluffapurrus Rex and attack a tiny but thriving metropolis. Tommy appears as Tommy Bee during the annual BCW wrestling match. There are famous quotes such as "little girls are made of sugar and spice and chicken fried rice." We get to relive the epic battle with the dreaded vacuum cleaner. And of course, there are cat created charts galore.

At the end of the book, there are coloring pages.

I adore this cartoon and the latest edition of the antics of the BCN crew does not disappoint. This is so worth picking up for a smile a minute pick-me-up when you're feeling down. You don't need to have read the other five books in this series to jump in and be warmed to your toes with the drawings, the stories, and, most importantly, the cats. And you don't have to be a cat lover. The antics of the pets will make you smile and nod your head. "Yup."

This is a collection of the Breaking Cat News comics from the newspaper and GoComics, which is where I discovered the books. The cats are hilarious! They are so like pet cats I've known, and not just mine. Ms. Dunn isn't wrong about cats being investigative. All the books are rereads. They can be read quickly, though I took my time and still had fun with it. The books are worth getting.

More funny comics about cats reporting on household events as if they were news reporters. Still really cute and funny, and captures cat antics perfectly. It’s also nice to see how things change as the baby has become a toddler and then there’s a new baby in the house. But some things stay the same, like a hatred of vacuums and a love of bacon.

Pucky, Prince of Bacon: an especially strong Breaking Cat News collection. I think bits of it are still re-drawn older comics, but there are also a lot of fun new standalone strips as well as the memorable conflict-with-the-vacuum storyline. The page formatting is occasionally a bit odd but it works. A very enjoyable read!

This is the best compilation yet. So many fond memories of past strips. I giggled my way through most of this book about the original three main characters with a couple of cameos of Tommy to keep every good cat up to date on the outside world.

Puck is my favorite of the BNC (Breaking Cat News) crew, He is gentle, kind, curious, and bit less mischievous than his brothers. Plenty of shenanigans and hair-raising schemes are afoot in this comic collection.

This is where reading this series out of order will be my downfall.... I've only read a couple of the series but I can see that some comics have been repeated.. that's disappointing, these guys seem to have enough adventures that we don't need to go over the same stuff. Still funny though.

Puck might be my favorite member of the BCN news crew, so I’m thrilled for him to finally have the title role. But I adore all these cats and look forward to their adventures, no matter who is on the cover. A tasty treat for cat lovers of all ages.

This book was the best...😁😁😁

This book was so cute! I really relate to it. Things happen like stealing bacon or befriending a vacuum cleaner ( not spoiling anymore on THAT topic) but all in all, it was just great.

This one was better than the last book. I love the short, funny anecdotal comics over the narratives. We laughed out loud a few times, and it made me miss my sweet kitties.
