When the text explains why architectural decisions were made, it's very interesting! For instance, the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom (first appearing in Chamber of Secrets) features a Gothic-style balustrade and pulpit to help Gilderoy Lockhart make a dramatic entrance, totally in line with the grand narcissism of the character. It's a quick visual way to convey to the audience what they're dealing with - all without exposition or narration that could eat into precious runtime!
However, when the text doesn't elucidate, it becomes a collection of often graphically dense architectural drawings that quite frankly struggle to grip the reader.
That being said, what is clear is passion in abundance for the craft of production design - Stuart Craig and his peers really worked wonders to bring Hogwarts to life.

Such an incredible book. There aren’t better drawings out there than the hand drawn ones from the Harry Potter movies. Stuart Craig is my favorite Production Designer and it was amazing to see in such detail the hard work by him and his team. Any Harry Potter fan would find this book fascinating. As someone who works in the Art Dept it was next level - even if you’re not a Harry Potter fan but work in film and tv you’d be very impressed with everything they did on these movies. The craftsmanship is other worldly probably never to be seen again.

Got this artbook as a present, being a fan of Harry Potter universe.
The reason why I gave it 3 stars only - just because its pretty technical and non art edition. I have enjoyed checking pages with the blueprints and reading short comments about creating Hogwarts, but thats all.
Great job of making this book, but personally for me - I dont have any reasons to open it again someday.
Quality of the book and prints are amazing by the way.

Even as a huge Harry Potter fan, this book taught me a lot of things I didn't know! It's when you see these drawings and blueprints that you realize what a monster job is behind this franchise. This book is literally a jewel.

The Blueprints is a beautiful reference book for any lovers of the Harry Potter world. It is a collection of blueprints used to craft the many memorable sets and props from the Harry Potter movies. It is visually beautiful and really rather fascinating too!
