Be empowered by the magic of nature and transform your life by embracing everyday spiritual practices with this authentic guide to folk magic from TikTok sensation Kiley Mann @kileymann.
Kiley Mann, one of a long line of folk witches, brings a fresh poetic voice to the ancient practices of wortcunning, divination, spellcrafting and folk lore. Her traditions lie deep in the swamp lands, forests, and hills that surround her in her northern homeland. Intuitive and compelling, she explains her relationship with nature, the traditions that have been passed down to her from her mother and how she learnt about the land through her barefoot wanderings—the best way to connect and communicate with nature. With chapters devoted to magical creatures, omens, herbs, spirit work, divination and folk remedies and spells you will learn both the traditions and the practical implementation and power of folk magic using the cycles of the moon, hag stones (stones with a hole running through them), crystals, herbs and more. So, if you want to send a healing message to a friend in need, remove bad luck, protect your home or bring love, money or success into your life, then let The Witch of the Woods be your essential grimoire.
A book written for midwestern witches and midwestern folk magic, which is a rare find. As born and raised midwesterner, this book resonated because so much of it was familiar. From the tips and tricks that are now framed as spells and rituals, to the plants, and the landscapes- it was all stuff I had grown up with and was a lot less complicated than suggestions from other books. The chapter on herbs and plants too felt much more relevant for this reason.
Highly recommend for midwestern folk practitioners.
This book is so whimsical and fun. Reading it felt like I was being transported to a mystical meadow surrounded by fairies and gnomes. This is my favorite kind of escapism!
I loved this book. I learned so much about the natural world and animals around me. It was a beautiful book that included so much information about ancestral history, spells, charms, nature, and animals. The artwork was also wonderful. It was a perfect November read.
A damn good witchy book! Lots of the books I’ve read so far specialize on a very specific type of magic (i.e. herbs or love, etc etc) or just focus on the plain old basics.
Although there’s nothing wrong with the basics — and these books certainly helped cement them in my brain — this is something I’ve been craving! Kiley is from the Great Lakes, and her craft is very unique to her area and the folk practices that come from this area of America. Even common witchy practices were presented in a new perspective to me, the Midwest Witch.
I really loved this book, for its poetry, whimsy, and excellent spells and magical information.
Not being from the Midwest nor living in the Midwest, this was a great book about how to use the surroundings of the Midwest in your craft.
I have always been interested in the craft and learning how others practice. This book is an excellent introduction to what is needed to practice, especially in the Midwest. I also love the artwork, the history, and the folklore. The Folklore was the book's most exciting and valuable section. I loved learning more about trolls and faes and how they relate to the earth.
I picked up this book in passing at my local library because I have quite a growing collection of similar books at home, and I became pleasantly surprised to see the depth in which Kiley Mann writes about her craft. She has a gift and her tales and information are easy to read and comfortable in approach. Definitely something to add to your spiritual library!
I loved this book. Some of the information was not meant for my area so it didn't really resonate with me in some ways. Although I found the information and the author to be very relatable. It felt like having a conversation with a friend.
An interesting read, though definitely a intro book on this subject. It's good if you are interested in the subject from a beginner position but if you looking for more in-depth information not a good choice. Artwork is very lovely.
This was a very weird book. Interesting, but weird. I expected to learn a little bit more specifics, but I guess “witchery” is more complicated than that.
