I know I said in my review of Volume 20 that I was going to continue this series but I’m resending that decision now, heh. This series is in no way bad I just…find it kind of boring and for a romance there really isn’t any. Soooo…yeah. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’m also not a fan of what’s going on with Kiki, so there’s that.

This series I can see working for some people, but it’s just not for me after all. I’ll still try the anime in the future since it covers the period of volumes I liked (1-11 is what it covers, I think?) but the manga is sadly a pass.

‼️Content‼️

Language: dang

Violence: a guy has a bloody head wound (nothing over PG-13)

Sexual: mild suggestive hints

The Lilias arc is finally closing, and the characters are moving on to other things! I have to admit, I'm glad. Lilias was a fun location for awhile, but I think it's time for something new.

Now...about Kiki and Lord Hisame...
I was mentally squirming every time they were on the page together. I'm still not happy about the way things are going there, but maybe it'll grow on me.

It was so sweet to see Ryu open up and tell people what's on his mind. 😊 And then Shirayuki did the same with Obi. So much sweetness, all around! (Maybe a teensy bit too much for my taste? 😆)

It was kind of a slow volume, so there's not a lot else to say. I'll be looking forward to seeing what things are like at Wirant Castle!

Ryuu es lo más tierno del mundo y espero que siga teniendo mucha importancia en la historia.
Y ya si se soluciona el tema de Kiki y Mitsuhide...sería genial, estoy sorprendida de lo indignada que me siento...

"You create an environment that allows us all to do what we do best. That's the sort of person I would like to be too."

Volume twenty ended SO perfectly that I confess I WAS excited to start this volume (especially since I didn't have time to read yesterday), but WAS also nervous about starting since I loved the ending of the previous volume so much.

I REALLY resonated with Mitsuhide and Zen describing feeling full of joy, but also being melancholic due to the changes because YES! The opening of this volume really captures those feelings with the changes that are taking place, even though one of them I am SOOOOO excited for because I have been on that ship since I first heard about it! LOL!! VERY much looking forward to seeing more of that! <3

There was a panel of Zen, Mitsuhide, and Kiki's backs and I feel it was such a powerful panel because they walk with strength and confidence. Granted, I don't know of a time they DIDN'T seem that way, but there was something about seeing their strong backs that filled with me pride. I guess it was because of all the changes and knowing what's coming, but they continue to look forward with strength and confidence. It's powerful. <3

Ah, and King Izana! I loved his conversation with Zen! Not much took place (well, actually, no. There was a BIG moment, but still), but I really find their conversations fun now!

LITTLE RYUUUUUU!! I definitely teared up during the chapter that focused on him! He has grown SO much and definitely feel he IS a full-fledged herbalist, but seeing him too grow and change and want to be more than he is now is beautiful. I LOVED the conversation that he and Shirayuki had because I adore these two working together and honestly will sob should a time come that they don't work together.

With that said, I'm going to really miss Lilias! I have loved Shirayuki, Obi, and Ryu here with such a wonderful group of friends! I feel confident will see them again, but I will deeply miss them until then!

Also going back to the opening quote, this line hit me really hard because I think that's why I admire Shirayuki and want to be like her too. She has truly become one of my favorite shoujo heroines and always excited and moved to see her grow and support those around her. <3 (Also I am SO glad she has Obi and told him that she can always be herself around him.)

A very wonderful volume once again!

Brilliant character development in this manga. Ryu deduced that he was not at his goal yet. He successfully changed his royal assignment to accompany the person he sees influencing his growth toward his goal.

Kiki gets engaged. Prince Zen and Mitsuhide, personal Knight to Prince Zen realize they have both been idiots. The scene is quiet humorous.

You have to read this volume to find out more. The flower research has reached its second and third stage goals. Shirayuki, Obi, and Ryu go to a friend and local lord and get the first of hopefully many approvals to plant the new flower on the roads near the towns.

Zen has reported back to his brother the king on his investigation. The result of this investigation results in accepting the proposal to take over their mother's holdings, which promises a greater peace in the Kingdom of Clarines.

Overall a masterfully written manga. As always the art is superlative. This manga needs to inspire more seasons of this anime.

*Review of Volumes 19-21*
I forgot to mention in my last review how much I love Shirayuki's new long hair! And little Ryu is growing up, and everyone else maturing. I'm so proud. Anyway, the gang's all back together! I don't know why, but I started to feel jealous of Zen and Shirayuki's relationship here. That is peak romance right there. Obi, please stop trying to be a good messenger and get yourself your own girl. :( There's just so much comradery and things getting settled that I really enjoyed these volumes.

A while ago I decided to start reading through the graphic novel collection at work and this was one of the first manga that I read in this project. It feels like it's been a long time. I caught up with what was on our shelves and then I started reading new volumes as they came in and it just feels like I've been in this work for a long time. I haven't. I read the first volume in March of 2021.

Not a lot happened in this volume. Prince Zen went to Wirant Castle. Kiki settled some details about her engagement. Ryu requested that he be sent on a mission with Obi and Shirayuki to distribute their seeds in the cold north. This is kind of a comfort read. In some volumes the story really moves and in others it's kind of nice just to be with old friends.

2.5 ⭐️. As much as I loved this series at first, it's definitely starting to drag out, ever since the Lilias arc the story has felt very stagnant. It could've easily been wrapped up a lot earlier, and I'm starting to lose interest. Zen and Shirayuki have been separated for most of the series even though they are the two main love interests, and I'm not the biggest fan of this new Kiki love interest. I'm going to keep up with it for a few more volumes to see how this new arc will be, but I'm considering dropping it. I'm disappointed since I found the beginning of the story very enjoyable.

Finally, Shirayuki begins her journey to prove that she can join Zen at his new place! By “begins her journey,” I mean the second one that the king said would prove help prove herself or whatever!

I can’t wait for them to be together again because these split stories are no fun! I want the whole gang interacting because those were fun and fluffy times without major problems. (Yes, I’m ignoring the pirate part because that was just a misunderstanding.)

Zen gets officially at Wirant. Kiki gets engaged to Hisame. Ryu does some soul searching. Shirayuki is tasked with spreading the new Orimmallys, now dubbed Phostyrias, throughout the snowy regions.

Not much happens. Just a transition from the last arc into the new one. Curious to see how this continues, but not overly hyped.

Same review for all volumes:

Watched the anime and knew that the story continued in the manga. It's light fluff. I know that the premise requires Shirayuki and Zen to be together but it would have been more interesting to me if along the way they realized that they are better as supportive friends and she ended up with Obi. Also, she just utters "Zen" way too often.

Kiki and Hisame are officially engaged. Zen, Mitsuhide, and Kiki have moved to Wirant Castle. Yay, the Phostyrias are successful and have been approved!
Shirayuki, Obi, and Ryu are going to start planting along the roads on their way to Wirant.
And.....Izana is getting married.....! Since when?!?! And to who?!?!?!

Wow. Kiki and Hisame. I actually like him so it’s not a big deal Lol.

My favorite part of this volume was when Shirayuki had that nice conversation with Obi. She’s right. She can be herself around Obi. I really like their friendship. I wish it could be more but that’s just me (and Obi maybe) LOL

[ RATING: 2.5 stars ] This was an okay volume, but I'm glad to see many characters setting goals for the future they want and who they want to be as things progress to a new stage in their respective journeys.

Little slow. Got their plant strain approved so now they’re onto a new adventure. Before that, it was a lot of hanging out in Lilias. I’m curious how their mission is gonna go with someone hinting that the locals prob won’t be too trusting. 🤔

It’s moving so slowly, and the relationship time is practically nil. I’m trying to continue, but it’s been a slog - not that it’s bad per se, but it’s just not interesting either.
