Honesty if you’ve read the first four volumes, you know what you’re getting on a base level; a fantastic meat and potatoes fantasy action series. And this volume is the climax of the first act of the larger story. The end of the beginning, so to speak. Does it deliver? Yes. Very much so. It is a satisfying conclusion to the narrative threads that have been established thus far, while also setting up what comes next nicely. The action stuff is as great as ever, and there are moments where you want to fist pump. The character moments after the battle are great, bringing each one to a sort of new status quo in a way. There was a moment that almost made me misty eyed.

As said before, I highly recommend this series to most people, especially those who like fantasy or the dragon quest games. There’s still the occasional bit of Shonen crude humor, but it overall doesn’t detract from it in the least.

They better announce volume 6 soon. PLEASE.
