In a superpowered society, there is nothing ordinary about evil anymore. Heroes, trained and licensed to protect and defend the public against supervillains, stand above all the rest. Not everyone can be a hero, however, and there are those who would use their powers to serve the people without legal sanction. But do they fight for justice in the shadows, or for reasons known only to themselves? Whatever they fight for, they are called…vigilantes.
Number 6 has enacted his plan to bring Naruhata to its knees, releasing dozens of faceless anon drones into the streets. With Koichi still on the run from the authorities, he’ll need to come to an understanding with Eraser Head in order to stay free. When Number 6 goes after Pop in the hospital, the police and Koichi’s friends may not be able to stop him, and Koichi will have to face the deranged villain alone…
HORIKOSHI Kouhei Name (in native language): Associated Names: Kouhei Horikoshi
Born 1986 in the prefecture Aichi, Horikoshi first attracted attention in the second half of 2006 when he entered Shueisha's 72th Tezuka Award for Newcomers with his one shot "Nukegara" and made it to the final six, where he gained himself an "Honorable Mention". Various short stories in Shueisha's Akamaru JUMP followed over the years until he published his one shot "Oumagadoki Doubutsuen" in issue #2/2010 of Weekly Shounen JUMP.
Kouhei Horikoshi is a graduate of Nagoya University of Arts. He was previously an assistant to TANAKA Yasuki.
Koichi is precious and an amazing hero and I love his development throughout the series. What started out as his bizarre, carefully used, barely investigated quirk has turned into him being a powerhouse vigilante. He and Izuku would get along amazingly.
I don't know. It is just one long fight. 3.5 stars. The main book just did the whole multi-issue fight. The Manga is different now. Pop is still in the frid... I mean hospital while our hero kind of flails around trying to save her. The heroes are still calling Crawler a villain while he saves people. I miss the early issues where the good guys were trying to help and not be plot points. I mean all the authority figures worked with him and now act like they never met him before. It is not bad but just comes across as sloppy writing (or direction from the boss) I can get from American comics.
Koichi faces off against Number 6 for the final time, and we get some insight into exactly how his powers work. There's definitely a sense of finality in the air, and the character bits we get for All Might and Eraserhead are again surprisingly solid. Two volumes to go! :(
I'm really enjoying this series! Every volume gets better and better.
It's been a while since I picked up the previous volume, and it showed how much I missed these characters. It's so great to see both old and new characters in this adventure. We pick up where we left off, with Koichi under pursuit by the pro-heroes and the mysterious villain Number 6 enacting his plan.
I adore spin-off series, as they often give the reader glimpses of other characters who have little time given to them in the main series. This is no exception. It was amazing to see the pros in action in a way that we haven't yet seen in the main series. Best Jeanist, Edgeshot, Ingenium, and other heroes are given more time to shine, showing off their skills as a pro-hero. My favourite of them all, however, was Eraser Head. It's always simultaneously hilarious and awesome to see him in action outside of teaching. It's also cool to see different kinds of people within the world taking part in the story. Civilians, vigilantes, the police. People we don't get to see much of in the main series.
The star, however, is Koichi, and I adore him more and more with every chapter. He's still the kind-hearted air-head he's always been, but he's smarter and growing more skilled by the minute. He has even more Quirk development that make him a worthy rival for any villain. It's shocking how he started off with a 'weak' and 'useless' Quirk and how it has now developed into one of the most well-rounded and useful Quirks. I daresay if I had to pick a Quirk to manifest in the world of My Hero Academia, I would pick Koichi's. He's truly a powerful force to be reckoned with, and the heroes should be very grateful that he's on their side!
In his opposition, Number 6 is truly a foe not to be messed with, and this volume shows you how much he's been changing and growing behind the scenes, and how truly devastatingly powerful he now is. His motivations and goals are slightly unclear, and I am eager to find out more about him and what he's trying to do. I suspect a certain villain is the figurehead behind him, but that's just a theory...for now.
I devoured this volume, and I'm very excited to see where the story goes next! But I'm also saddened that it'll be wrapped up in a couple volumes. A part of me is curious as to how they will do that when it feels like the fighting has just begun, but I will be picking up volume 14 ASAP!
It's been more than clear from the end of last volume that things would heat up like no tomorrow in this one, but the intensity here is absolutely fantastic! We're kinda in zero hour now, with Sixxy launching his attack on the hospital and the entire volume is largely just our cast of characters trying to fend him off, leading to what can only be our high-octane, adrenaline-pumping climactic showdown between him and Koichi.
We get a little more insight about what's going on with Sixxy's mental state in this volume during his "conversations" with the "ghost" of O'Clock, as well as an exciting look into how Koichi's slide-n-glide quirk continues to evolve. Not only are these reveals so well handled but the pacing and the timing of everything here is superb! And that cliffhanger! OOH, that cliffhanger!
Needless to say I'm so beyond happy with this series and much as I don't want it to end (and I'm getting pretty close to that end now,) I'm beyond excited to see where this goes!
So in a stunning revelation, with several panels and cover pages that make me realize the hero and villain of this book remind me of stuff I've seen in Marvel comics, there ARE Expies in this Endgame!! KOICHI, THE CRAWLER, IS ACTUALLY A GENDERBENT INVISIBLE WOMAN OF THE FANTASTIC FOUR! NUMBA 6, ALREADY A NIGHTWING, FLASH, AND ULTRAMAN EXPY, IS A MORE ADAPTABLE THANOS! GEEZ HOW HAVE I BEEN SO BLIND! But yeah, I really REALLY want all this stuff animated. Give us a condensed movie Japan; maybe an OVA series? I want to see all this wonderful action animated.
- the volume cover goes HARD - koichi being the natural foil to no.6 and defending against his attacks on instinct is just so freakin cool - i just love seeing aizawa - soga supremacy - i just love no.6's character design its just so cleeeean - the fight's only jus getting started - cb im almost done w this manga :,((
All for one soit unique ?
Rock is starting to make his move by knocking out power and communication with multiple anonymous, nomu type bomb villains.
So I love that the heroes all chasing Koichi come together during this clear crisis and basically let him go, especially Aizawa. They notice he could’ve fled when they were distracted but instead he helped to calm town the bystanders and thank them, this kid is to cute. At first Aizawa is still fully planning on turning him in, but when they get headed off by some bomb nomu that can literally trigger explosions whenever, he sends Koichi ahead to warn the others. I love that he compares it to being a school teacher and how if he can keep track of them fighting villains is so problem, he’s so cool and hot, I just love Aizawa. And he always recognizes the good hearts in others and that right now Koichi is not his issue, even if he may not technically be in the right either.
So rock or number 6, the main scarred villain dude, (for real this dude has at least 5 monikers so I never know how to refer to him) is infiltrating the hospital to finish the job and kill Pop. Interestingly, he seems to be communicating with a mental projection of the original O’clock, which again I’m still waiting on their connection, but I guess we’ll find out eventually. He seems to be the logical side of his brain vs this erratic version. Creepily, it also seems he can manipulate and control his body and bring it back together, aside from what we know is his speedster quirk. So like he was handcuffed and could melt out of them and then reform somewhere else and he was able to reform his hot face after he’d been burned up last book. The dude is a true enigma and I really hope we get some backstory and answers because I still got nothing.
I do love that everyone is coming together to defeat him tho. Obviously the heroes, but Tsukauchi is even teaming up with the vigilantes, like Soga and his thugs, and he sent Koichi to get All Might. I feel like Koichi does get a message out, or someone does to All Might somehow, but he ends up turning right back around because he can’t abandon Pop and he faces no 6 one on one. Crazily Koichi has STILL leveled up his quirk and it seems to be mostly subconsciously. Like he said he could only do two force field hops mid air before he fell, but now he’s basically fly jumping huge distances because he has a purpose to protect his girl. And now he’s able to create force field protections with his body, not just his limbs, when no 6 is blowing shit up right in his face. Truly at this point Koichi could just BE a legal hero, he’s so cool now! (Side note, I for the commitment to the bit of ppl still consistently referring not him as cruller, cracks me up). And he’s pissed off this dude so badly that destroying Koichi is now his primary goal so oh boy. With so little left it makes sense our main character and villain or finally facing off, so I’m excited to see how it goes!

Things are getting serious at the hospital as Naruhata is still under a blackout. We get a brief cool moment with Aizawa when he and Koichi try to move on to the hospital. My main man Eraserhead is indeed a badass and that’s why I love him. They get intercepted though so Koichi goes to the hospital without him.
Upon arrival, it’s clear the police are trying to lock down Number 6 but it ain’t happening. The only one that seems to be fast enough to match him is Koichi. My man can dodge, shield, zip and zoom anywhere he wants. He can use his quirk on any part of his body, not just his hands and feet. Koichi is highkey op now. He’s just moving all on instinct and I love it.
The grand master plan of Number 6 is in full execution mode and it has everyone running in multiple directions trying to catch up and stop him. As always there is a heavy dosage of the Heroes from the main book which is a treat as always. Epic fights all over the neighborhood and excellent pacing makes this issue fly by but keeps the blood flowing and you on the edge of your seat as the battle wages on. Loved every page of this volume!
I found this sufficiently entertaining. It has none of the oomph of the original series, but at least we're getting good action and a reasonably consistent storyline now that we're approaching the conclusion (better late than never, I suppose). Eraserhead was in this volume a lot, too, which made me happy.
Absolutely loving this, I'm enjoying the main series and looking forward to the new chapters when released but this one has me more excited for the moment! I cant wait to see how it continues in the next volume!!!
The cover says it all... Crawler vs. Number 6! Interesting deeper analysis on both their Quirks throughout. With the way the anime for the main series is progressing, they really should consider getting this series in anime form.
