The Petticoat Pirate and the Rogue Redcoat

Rate this book
Against all odds, Josephine Teversin survived the attack at the masquerade ball and embraced her identity as an immortal pirate, but her business with Garreck Skulthorpe and his pirate hunters is far from finished.

Josephine forms a temporary alliance with ex-pirate hunter Nathaniel on a daring quest to rescue her best friend and take revenge on Skulthorpe for his crimes. Unscrupulous pirates, hurricanes, and a mutinous crew are the least of her worries. A rogue witch stalks their every move as they race north to Boston.

As the American colonies continue to splinter apart under British rule, Josephine must face the harsh truth of her father’s past while wrestling with her own reckless choices.

I’m always nervous reading sequels because you never quite know how they’re going to go. I’m proud to report that this one does exactly what a sequel should: improve, build, and expand.

Josephine continues to be her awesome self but is exposed to some much more difficult scenarios this time around. Situations that challenge her morals, make her question what she knows, and complicate the future. As always, watching her maneuver these circumstances is wonderful and feels realistic and true to her character.

I continue to be impressed what this author’s attention to detail. You can tell they took time to research a lot of the elements of this story and it definitely shows. You won’t find stereotypes here unless they were true!

I can’t wait to see where the voyage takes us next. Definitely hop onboard this one.

I absolutely loved The Petticoat Pirate so I jumped at the opportunity to be an ARC reader for The Petticoat Pirate and the Rogue Redcoat. I'm pleased to say that the sequel is packed with just as much action, excitement, and adventure as the first.

In fact, I'd say Rogue Redcoat has even more adventure since a lot of the time Josephine, Nathaniel, and the crew were at sea, heading north to save Oliver from the dreadful Skulthorpe. And now that I've mentioned him...poor Oliver! He was one of my favorite characters in book one and unfortunately, his role wasn't as big in book 2 as I would've liked. I think I missed him even more than Josephine did! Although, in her defense, she was pretty busy. Her conflicted feelings about Nathaniel made me sad for Oliver, but definitely made for an enjoyable read. The pining and angst is great, but my ultimate ship is Oliver and Josephine. I think. I might be a bit conflicted on that as well lol

There were also a few twists in this, which I loved. I'll keep it vague, but the one about one of the crew members totally blindsided me!!

Overall, Rogue Redcoat is a fantastic follow up to The Petticoat Pirate! My man Oliver was done dirty...for real. This poor guy!! But I am super excited to read the third book and hopefully see his luck change. Although...who knows. He has a huge adjustment ahead of him and I really hope we get to see some of that in the third book!!

Well. This sequel certainly did a good job of tossing my emotions about like a ship in a storm. I was a solid Team Oliver in the first book, but with the circumstances what they were in this one, I couldn't help but switch to Team Nathaniel. And yet, THAT ENDING! I won't spoil anything, but GAH. I need book 3, like, yesterday. Seeing as how it hasn't been written yet, I suppose I'll just have to satisfy myself by reading Pugh's other series, because damn, this lady can write. If you like adventure laced with romance and Pirates of Caribbean vibes, I highly recommend you check out this series.

Nautical adventure awaits!

Set sail for a thrilling adventure on the high seas as the sequel to the Petticoat Pirate takes you aboard the Nepheria and into lots of twists and turns.

This book starts where book 1 left off and the fun has just begun. Enter in daring rescues, wicked witches, conspiracy, a cat with a conscience, talks of pirate treasure, and sea sprites and you got yourself a read worth staying up late for.

No spoilers...but Team Nathaniel here! I loved this book. It was so good. Exciting, entertaining, and well-written. I mean, what's not to love about pirates?

Now, I'm ready for book 3!!!

Josephine Teversin has fully stepped into her role as an immortal pirate and captain of her ship. With ex-hunter Nathaniel Runik at her side, she plans on rescuing her best friend from the cruel hands of Garreck Skulthorpe and the evil witch helping him. Tensions between the American colonists and Patriots are rising, and they're headed into Boston right as something major is going to happen. Jo will not leave any of her crew behind, but are they as loyal to her as she is to them?

This is the second book in the fantastic historical fantasy series, Immortal Pirates. I enjoyed this one even more than the first. What a tremendous ride! I love the background of what is historically happening at the time and how that affects the plot. Jo and Nathaniel are determined to save Oliver and ruin Skulthorpe's plans, but their enemy is tricky. He seems to have every possibility covered, and it's up to Jo to improvise. Lots of action and a little more romance this time. I can't wait to dive into the next book.

I wish I had started this book earlier in the day so I could have gobbled it in one sitting! My kindle nearly died without me realizing in my absorption in the story!

Okay, so obviously it’s fast paced. I was caught in the push and pull. You get sucked into the story, launched onto the ship and caught up in the constant chaos that always seems to surround Nathaniel and Josephine. The cast is full of interesting characters. There’s something to laugh about on almost every page! Twists and turns abound in this swashbuckling whirlwind of a historical adventure. I can’t wait to find out what happens next!

Oh, and one more thing—
Team Nathaniel from the beginning 💜

THE PETTICOAT PIRATE AND THE ROGUE REDCOAT sees Josephine and her allies take to the open seas as they try to rescue Oliver from the hands of Skulthorpe. I loved book one in the series and book two turns up the action as we take to the open water with lots of pirate fun that every Pirates of the Caribbean fan is sure to enjoy. I loved the chases out on the open water, the storms, the ship battles, and seeing Josephine use her wits. Also, the enemies to lovers vibe between Josephine and Nathaniel is cranking up to like an 11 out of 10 and I am here for it! The setting of immortal pirate magic against the backdrop of the American Revolution is a wonderful combination to read. We get to see all our favorite characters in this one, including Genevieve and Beau, and meet new ones, including a ship cat, and “The Ghost.” This had swoony kisses, hurricanes, and some fun twists! 5/5 stars.

I LOVED The Petticoat Pirate and I couldn't wait for the sequel. The Rogue Redcoat did not disappoint! It was every bit as good as the first but with a new atmosphere. Josephine is a heroine you really root for and feel for. And Nathaniel...well let's just say I'm a big fan of his character! So many nail-biting twists and that ending?!! Can't wait for book 3.

Loved it! Anticipating the release of Book 4 of the Petticoat Pirate series, I went back to reread the first three. Did not realize I did not leave a review on this book. It continued the drama and romance as well as the magical aspect of Josephine and I had forgotten how hard it was to put down. It's a must read! C.R. Pugh has a great talent of telling a an excellent story!

Filled with action, magic, and romance, this is a wonderfully gripping read! Love the dynamic between Jo and Nathaniel so much! And Oliver! The characters are great. The development at the end that I won’t go into because spoilers… needless to say it makes me extremely eager for book 3!

Best book

I cannot say how much I have enjoyed this series!! A smart female heroine who doesn’t wallow forever in her mistakes. But boldly keeps moving forward. She is smart, driven and passionate. I love the nod to historical events as well. All in all a great read!

Just like in the first book the characters are terrific! Pugh takes the reader right into the story, and does a great job weaving in a review of the first book so the reader remembers what's happening. It's a fun escape into an adventure packed love story. I'm excited for book 3!
