Concho #5

The Scorpion's Sting

Rate this book
A.W. HART has done it again in the fifth book in the rough-and-tumble action adventure western series starring Concho Ten-Wolves!

Texas Ranger Concho Ten-Wolves nearly died in New Orleans when a rocket propelled grenade blew up the truck he was driving. He settled that score and now he’s headed home for the Kickapoo reservation in Eagle Pass, Texas where he lives. His Captain doesn’t like him and has suspended him without pay. He’s riding a Greyhound bus and all he wants at Christmas time is some peace. He’s not going to get it.

Trouble climbs on the Greyhound in the form of two strangers—a teenage girl who looks like a runaway and a man who looks like a predator. Concho is worried. He knows, children disappear. Sometimes forever.

Not on his watch!

If you like the characters and premises of Craig Johnson (Longmire), CJ Box (Joe Pickett), and Tony Hillerman (Leaphorn and Chee), you'll like the Concho Ten-Wolves series from Wolfpack Publishing.

The ten books in this gritty, action-packed set of thrillers features a Texas Ranger who is half Kickapoo and half Black. They are written under the publishing house name of A.W. Hart, with most of the novels written by author Charles Gramlich.

This one, The Scorpion's Sting, is a bit more grisly than the previous entries as the antagonist is a sadistic serial killer and child abductionist, so content warning for those who are sensitive to such themes. But if you like fast-paced, rough and brawling, close-to-the-line law and vengeance tales, this series is for you. Solid writing, great characterization. Should be a series on Netflix.

AW Hart – Concho Series Bk 5 - The Scorpion's Sting – Reviewed 4/17/22 – Read 4/11/22

Returning from New Orleans, Concho is pulled into the search when a little girl goes missing.

Texas Ranger Concho Ten-Wolves is tired and worn out from all the fracas that occurred when he and his half-brother went in search of their mother, nearly getting killed to boot. They found her, but it was too late; she had declined so much that she did not even know him. It was unsettling, but he did not know her anyway, having been raised by his grandparents. Just before he left, he got a call from his boss telling him he was suspended until a review of the actions in New Orleans could be cleared up. Knowing that money would be tight, he opted to take a bus back instead of renting a car, plus he could rest up on the way. Little did he know that a cute little girl he met on the bus would go missing, and he would not let that happen on his watch and the story begins.

Join Concho as he races against time to save a little girl and others from a monster…

What did I like? Concho Ten-Wolves is one badass Ranger who shames the others with devotion to his work. His Native American heritage gives him an advantage that the others don’t appreciate but keeps him a step ahead. Even if he gets shot or his vehicle gets destroyed, you can bet that he will always get his man!

What will you like? This book is fast action with a subject matter that is dear to every man, woman, or child in this world. How to keep them safe? Concho’s love of children spurs him into action to save them all. The killer intrigues him with his madness and the many traps he left behind to kill Concho. AW Hart gives us the next chapter in the Concho series with “The Scorpion’s Sting,” which is available NOW!!!

WOW

Another thriller with mystic powers, evil demons, and a twist at the end. Concho is in the middle of the action, following the clues, and saving the day. Concho deals with the worst evil in today's world. Great writing. Look forward to every novel.
