IT’S BETTER TO ASK FORGIVENESS THAN PERMISSION
One thing I can always say, Ms. Jane Henry never disappoints with her writing, bigger than life characters, and scenarios. What a fouth great story to this new series, Dangerous Doms, and with it, you have the good, the bad, and the ugly. The story keeps the pages turning with a powerful, dominant man, Carson Fynn, but a broken man on a mission to get retribution for the murder of Eve, mother to his daughter. Throw in Eve’s friend and the cousin to the McCarthy Clan, Megan.
“For one night, I want to forget my responsibilities, my job. For one night, I want to be a man with a beautiful woman on his arm.”
I will say, I love this series, and Jane Henry brings a fresh perspective to her Dangerous Doms series that her readers seem to love. Too many authors have jumped on the "mafia" bandwagon, but the stores are so 'cookie-cutter' that they have nothing new to offer. That is not the case with Ms. Henry's books--nor this Irish Mafia series.
Ms. Jane' Henry's characters are powerful men, not without imperfections, and nothing that happens in her books are over the top. Her books are page-turners with plenty of mystery, suspense, danger, and action. Throw in a dominant man, Carson; he is brains and brawn--and then Megan, a cousin to the McCarthy Clan, things are going to get interesting. Together, they sizzle!
For Megan, she has always had feelings for Carson but has kept them hidden, and she respected the relationship Eve, and Carson had, which resulted in a child, Brenna. Carson is unlike any man she has been with before; he is dominant and brings out a submissive side she hasn’t explored but craves what he has to offer. How will they keep it a secret from her cousins and not cause issues? Before these two know it, they are in deeper, not just physically, but lines are crossed in Stone City, a life is taken, and retribution could come down upon them. How will Carson keep Megan protected? What will happen when he learns a secret she has been hiding? Is Carson a spy? So many unanswered questions.
“If I choose a member of the Clan, I’m in this for life. All of it. The good, the bad, the ugly. Their old-fashioned, domineering, but protective ways. Their fierce loyalty and dedication to Clan code. The battles that take lives.”
The story is an action-packed adventure that takes the reader inside the Irish Mafia and how they operate. It includes strong, feisty women, who support the men they love, accept that they must step back, and allow them to conduct business and not ask questions. It is power, control, dominance, discipline, and clan loyalty that ties this tale all together. There is excellent erotic and kink filled chemistry between Carson and Megan. He loves to dominate, and she gets all melty with submission. It is life and death, the revelation of secrets, new beginnings, and yes, the elusive happy ever after ending.
“I know then, something I’ve known since I was just a Clan child, that life is a series of gains and losses, and the gains may be more powerful with the intensity of Clan life. But it balances it out. It all balances out.”
The story does depict scenes of violence, explicit discipline, and the sex scenes are erotic and consensual. I don’t know where this series will take us, and while there is no cliffhanger, I hope some characters mentioned may segue into the next story.
Side note, the author does indicate at the end of the book that the next story will be Lachlan, due August 2020.
