The King & Alpha #3

Prophesy Book III: His Righteousness

Rate this book
Chaos is inevitable when fate pairs the executioner of evil with a man of righteousness.

In all the years that Adres Cavalerie has inhabited the earth, he never thought he would discover his connection to the Prophesy within the Volkov Alphas stronghold.

As the oldest living vampire, Adres was also the strongest immortal of his time with abilities that surpassed comprehension. He was a warrior and guardian, a champion for the downtrodden and forgotten. His name was legendary, the brutal ways he killed, notorious. But there was a secret to his madness that no one of this world understood.

Until his evil soul comes into contact with Macauley Volkov’s righteous wolf.

You may be a master at hiding your scent.” The alpha dipped his head low and pressed his nose to Adres’s temple, breaking through one of his impentrable shields, “but, I smell the real you … vampire.

Adres has come to the White Mountain alphas to fulfill a duty and leave, but after one scent of the virtuous wolf he knew he wasn’t going anywhere. The Prophesy led him to Macauley and his light… Adres can’t turn away from the only hope of freeing his cursed heart.
He had to find out who else he was, and why fate has chosen someone as damaged as him to end the Prophesy?

This story DOES NOT contain or even mention MPREG. No cliffhangers. Ends with a very HEA.

I forgot that I didn't like this book the first time around 😅
...................

This was the last book in the prophesy series.

While I liked it, I didn't love it. It was a bit anticlimactic for me.
All the build up for the prophesy, and it ends within a few pages.
This is also a looong book. It could have been better imo to shave off some parts from the beginning and add it to the end, when the prophesy actually starts.

I'll admit to be disappointed. I was eagerly waiting for this book.

1 Star with Definite Snark! KU Read

Disclaimer: I've gotten nasty notes because I've been honest about MY opinion AEV's writing. I don't care. The purpose of this site is to read something & give an honest review. If the special snowflakes get offended by dissenting opinions, its just too bad.

I've read a lot of AEVs work. Some I've liked but most I haven't. I keep going back trying to find those rare gems that I enjoy.

This isn't one of those...

Sure, the premise is interesting. A werewolf Alpha Zenith (redundant name but still) & a vampire king. The pair get together & merge two historical enemies. Kumbaya all the way. But there is always fallout. This book is the last in the series but features the fallout.

Macaulay finds his mate in what basically is the vampire boogyman, Adres Cavalarie. He is one of a group who hunts down the renegade of each group. But he has an evil curse that Macaulay finds both hot & off-putting.

They go from fighting to humping relatively quick. The whole Mate/Cherished is the excuse but its stretched a bit thin. Assassins show up to kill Macaulay & his family which feel like a side plot. A fairy omega wolf shows up(!?), sending everyone into hump mode. Its a lot with no real direction.

Now, for what irks me..

Yes, there is a disclaimer at the beginning of the book which says things have been changed to fit the story.

So if things have been changed to fit the story, why not put Austrian aristocrat instead of Australian? How hard is that? The definition of aristocrat is: considered to be in the highest social class in a society and possess hereditary titles (Duke, Marquess, Earl, Viscount, Baron) granted by a monarch, which once granted them feudal or legal privileges..👑..I can see that for an Austrian as Austria was once part of the Austria Hungary Empire. But its hard to picture an aristocrat coming from a former penal colony.

Redundant phrasing is another peeve..

1) ~but Adres’s notorious killing reputation was well-known.~..if Adres was notorious..then yes, his killing reputation Was Well Known already!

2) ~His mate wanted to mate.~..Seriously???

3) ~Then if the teen chose to attend public high school or college—Justice was the first Alpha Zenith to encourage that—or any form of higher education, it was always supported.~.. Yay lots of support there for higher education...AEV said so at least twice!

There is a lot to be said for bad writing...there is a lot to be said for bad editing ....so I don't know who is at fault here.

Still waiting for another AEV gem 💎

Most of the action happened off page. Not even background. Just messed together. The omega storyline still has me confused. But for an ending it was an interesting wrap up.

3.5*

I’ve enjoyed this series and this book but I didn’t realise it was the last one. Totally my fault I should have checked I know. But this seemed to drag at times and I was cursing the amount of time spent with all the I want him but don’t deserve him.

I assumed Taleb would get a book as well. But his was crammed into this one. Which makes it even stranger that it dragged.

So it was building nicely towards the end and then….well it was all a bit anticlimactic really. Probably worse since I wasn’t expecting it.

I don’t know anymore. I didn’t things could get much more OP than Wrath, but apparently he needs a friend and Adres arrived. Sweet couple, it was interesting to see how Mac went from suspicious to mate. The children were entertaining and I liked happy Wrath. Kinda lost me at the end but hopefully Taleb’s short story ties things up.

Fantastic read!!

Another home run by A.E. Via! I loved the first installment of the Prophecy series. Then I read the second one and loved it more than the first because Wrath just captured my soul! Going into this third installment, I wasn’t sure if the author would be able to match or outdo book two because it was just that great. But oh how did she surprise me!! Mac and Adres’s book sucked me in and held me hostage, just like Wrath’s book did.

There are places where you think you know how something is going to go and then you find out you’re wrong. I did that twice before I decided to stop trying to predict the book and just enjoy the ride. And what a ride it was!

Mac and Adres’s relationship was beautiful to watch. There was heat from the beginning but the burn was deliciously slow. The inferno their coming together caused was so enjoyable and so worth the wait. It was sweet, and hawt, and beautiful, and caused some seriously rapid breathing!

The action was phenomenal. It was so vivid and written so well, it was like it was watching it happen on screen! I am not joking! But this is what this author does; she grabs you by your collar from page one and drags you through the entire story without losing even a little bit of her grip. She pulls you through the good, the bad, the ugly, the sexy, the worry, the angst and all the way through to their HEA, and you love every minute of it. I can’t wait for her next release.

This was an exciting series, my only disappointment was that it seemed like the author could have written a full book for the youngest brother Taleb with his own story and mates.
It was sweet seeing the big bad horseman Adres fall head over heels for Mac, this was a really great read!!!!

What to expect…

A damn book hangover… that’s what!! Dear gods. Lady A has done it again.

This story of Mac and Adres is absolutely page turning. Right from the get go you know you won’t want to put this one down.

I did like that these two didn’t have instalove (which is AE typical MO). They learned each other and went through things ‘normal’ people would have to learn.

Then add in mythical beings and shifters and vampires and poof. Best fantasy series.

I have to mention that Lady A can certain keep you on your toes. I didn’t see half the things coming. Excellent writing. Can not wait to see what’s in store next.

Okay I gotta I'm a little disappointed with the conclusion of this series. I'm a big A.E. Via fan, but this book left me wanting more. You can't just build from beginning and towards the end we have a rushed conclusion. This is not how you complete a series. Very disappointed ☹️

Is this really the end?! It had all the makings of a good book, but by the midpoint it started to feel like the story of Mac and Andres got fused with what was supposed to be Taleb's story (or ideas for it) and they somehow got fused together to finish it up fast. It ended up having so many points that I'd forgotten important details for the climax that when they became relevant, it felt like they came out of nowhere. From around the halfway point it went from a good book to a confusing, half baked mess.
In the end, I feel cheated. Not only of a good conclusion to the third book, but if a book for the last male sibling and a proper end to the series. And we still don't know what the famous prophecy is!

Absolutely amazing…

This one is the favorite of the series. I loved learning about the prophesy with the vampires and the wolves. I had lots of chuckles.

I loved the family of all the vampires and wolves coming together to protect each other and their futures. The Future!!!!

This book had high action, which I loved and a family out to protect. I laughed. I swooned. I couldn’t ask anything more of this series conclusion. We saw ALL of the main characters we grew to love find their HEA.

3.25 stars; the main couple was pretty boring but I would keep reading about the secondary characters for so many more books. Aleksei and Belleron and Taleb and Henry and Orion stole the show and pretty much saved the story from being a snooze fest, so I am kinda sad to say goodbye to this world. I still think the second installment is the absolute superior one, and just for that I am so glad to have picked up these books! Overall series rating: 3.5 stars.

As intricate as it is steamy. No fluff here!

The last book in the series, Prophesy Book III is as intricately crafted as the previous books. Not a light hearted read. The plot is weighty and solid. Sorcery is afoot, a few beloved (true mate) matches are in the works, a scorned ex lover, Titans, a long time friendship with a god of old, a fairy omega… a lot is going on in this book. The romance is hard earned, deep secrets are revealed, and the prophesy comes full circle. I got lost with the depth of the story a few times and had to wrap my brain around things a bit- re-reading a paragraph for understanding, which if unusual for me. The story had a great ending that surprised me.

Oh my, that was amazing! I really enjoyed the continuing trend of conscious choice. Poor Adres, torn in so many directions and Mac patiently waiting until Andres has it all settled. Also, that ending, plot twist after plot twist. Though I was waiting for an epic battle with the final boss... didn't really happen because the characters were now too high a level for the encounter.

Another piece of the prophesy falls into place. We now get a much bigger picture of the role each couple of the three books play in the overall prophesy. Although each of the men are strong on their own, they are so much stronger and better with their mates. I loved this book and how Macauley was able to look within Adres's soul and assist in healing it I love this entire series

Not enough stars

OMG this book was absolutely amazing!! You've done it again!! I'm glad I re-read the first two books again, so the story line would be fresh in my mind. I'm a huge fan, I own all your books. Your writing is simply so unique, characters are awesome, and they flow so easily, I'm finished reading before I realize it. I really don't want to say goodbye to these guys. They're some of my favorite characters of all time. Thank you for another great series. Hopefully, I'll read about them again.

I think this was my fav one. The possessiveness from both characters was delicious. The ending was so cute.

Steam- 3/5 it’s still not until later into the book but it’s more detailed imo then the first 2.

„His lovers cum was like liquid sunshine coating his throat.“
*sigh*

Okay, so this was the last part of this trilogy and like all the other parts it unfortunately reads unfinished and rushed and the so-called plot only seems to be there so that the protagonists can find each other and have sex. (and sex and sex and sex and sex)

Also, in this last (!) volume, they suddenly started throwing around unfinished and unexplained lore, which made me slightly disgruntled. Suddenly there was talk of Titans, of a friendship between a Demi-God and a Titan, of Omega (!) fairies and fairies in general. Everything came out of nowhere and half-hearted explanations were thrown around just so the characters could quickly jump back into bed with each other. Tiring and also more than a shame.

The main antagonist, who has been the subject of the story since volume one (!), was (I listened to the audiobook) dealt with in 10 minutes and nothing was explained or rehashed. The battle was over so quickly that the tension that was tried to build up was gone so quickly that it seemed loveless.

In the end, of course, it’s all pink cotton candy and they live happily ever after and sperm is like liquid sunshine. Nice.

Are you ever in a series that you like, but just aren't sure if you want to finish? That was this series for me. Books 1 and 2 were good, not amazing, but good. For some reason, I wasn't in the mood to start book 3. I even told Karen that I might just call it good, because I felt like the series was fine without the last book.

Boy was I fucking wrong, because book 3 was my fucking favorite!

I was here for it from the first chapter. I loved the way the storyline tied up, the characters in this were my favorite. Seriously, sometimes I wonder what the fuck is wrong with me. And now I'm wondering how many series I got bored with and moved on from before getting to my favorite. FUCK, NOW I HAVE TO GO LOOK AND FINISH LIKE 30 SERIES.

Anyway, if you haven't picked up this author, definitely do. Nothing Special Series is still my fave, but everything she writes definitely hits the spot.

What the Fuck!!🖕

I read this book the day it was released, I was so excited!! But, it's taken me some time to think about My review and not in a good way....

My heart aches, I was so disappointed after waiting for so long for this, it felt like a last minute offering. It had none of the high octane from the second book - the ending with the appearance of a horseman left me drooling for the drama and darkness and so going into this final story with such high expectations and I felt it didn't reach one of them.

In my review for the first book, for some reason I thought this was a 5 book series? So this ending with Book 3 makes me wonder if the lip service paid to the other siblings is how this series was brought to a speedy conclusion "meh"

So, I still have so many unanswered questions and the ending was a bit of a damp squib, so feeling a tad let down by it all.

I really really really wanted to give this 5 stars. I have absolutely loved the previous two entries. What I think it came down to for me was it all happed way too fast. Wasn’t enough time to sit with the information before something else happened. I absolutely love this author’s work and I know she felt like wrapping this series up. It was a really awesome world and mythology she had built up. I really don’t know what else to say, she’s amazing. I’m glad we got the trilogy, kinda sad it’s over

The series is good, don't get me wrong. But this was my least favorite. Andres' whole "thing," his whole Mode of Operations, is avoidance. So he does everything he can to avoid this relationship with Mac. So moving the relationship forward, it's just very slow.

The other thing I didn't like... Ok, so the story's over, right? How come I can't tell? What was the prophecy, and how was it fulfilled? I feel like I missed something at the end, because I don't know the answers to these questions.

I have no clue why I decided to read this shit, must’ve been free or something, but I did and regret it heavily. And I regret that I read the whole series. The writing is so bad. So bad. And the characters are unbelievable; even in fantasy land, you should make realistic characters. I should’ve just skimmed like I do with all other bad books but I kept going because I was stupid.

Wow it took me 24 days to listen to this book just like the last one interesting I like this book but I really like justice and wick's romance story better I'm sorry but they are cute they are cute and I like all the battles and like yeah it's it's good it's just like it's just missing more romance there's a little bit but I just wanted more romance in this one so basically Adres was put on a curse long ago so his core is pretty dark and I mean I don't want to say evil because there is still a little good in him but he really needs I guess the sorcerer put this curse on him so he really needs to get this curse healed before he can fully meet with Mac but damn he's got some power wow I mean he can like do some destruction that's for sure but Mac when he comes into the picture questions his goodness and his family I don't know it sounds like Titan that's kind of what it sounds like but anyway his family is very honorable but there's this dark side of him that makes people like not trust him I think that that's kind of what happens here but then people start to realize that he really does have a goodness in him but I think it's just this fighting you know like fighting just gets out this Darkness or something but also what we end up learning in the book is that the vampires are starving so I guess the blood banks are getting depleted and they're they're getting really sick and so Justice and his pack come up with a solution for that so it's interesting seeing the wolf shifters and the vampires uniting together but let's just say shit hits the fan at the end there's a big battle everything works out in the end but you definitely got to it's still a good book you definitely got to do this oh and wrath is super kick ass he's like a demi God yeah he's pretty cool but I still there's some terminology that I still haven't figured out like AZ I think is Alpha Zenith but I don't even know what Zenith is anyway so I just let that go that's okay I'm looking forward to the next book can't wait hopefully there is one

What A Mess

This series gave me whiplash with all the ups and downs. Half of it felt under explained and full of plot holes and the other half was inconsistent and contradictory.

Our two MMCs in this book started out so strong. I loved how they met and how the first chapters were them riling each other up but also not being able to stay away. It was interesting how they felt the pull to each other despite Adres having his shield up so he couldn’t be scented. Mac was fun in his pursuit of Adres and I liked their snarky banter.

But, the second these two actually got together all of that disappeared! There were maybe two scenes with them being cute and snarky but it was like their whole personalities from the first quarter of the book disappeared.

The plot itself was a mess. Three books for a prophesy I feel like we never actually heard in detail and it was over within a few pages?? The whole thing with vampire covens being underfed was barely explained and the solution found in this book, which could have been interesting, was used as a throwaway scene just to cause drama. If you’re going to have a plot stretch out over a whole series, it better be able to carry that series. But the plot in just one book was barely enough to hold my interest. I had so much hope after book two that things were improving in this series but book three was the most frustrating of the bunch.

And don’t even get me started on unnecessary and annoying characters. Mac’s ex was unnecessary and just there for extra drama in the book and Ramon made no sense and was kinda a jerk.

Blech. I’m so glad this series is over.

Amazingly good series…..

Oh how I absolutely LOVED this series! It had everything and sucked you in! You can’t help but love all the main characters and even some of the side ones as well. Some you hate of course but that’s why it’s so perfect! My only complaint is this, the only way to get Tableb’s story is by hurry up and subscribe to the newsletter to not miss his story. To me that is one of the quickest ways for me to not want to continue reading an authors work. Why? Because I can’t be given all these little teasers throughout a series and then told the only way to read his story is to not be to late in subscribing to a not miss it. What if I didn’t find the series months or years after it was released? That would not be fair. And then of course I fall in love with this characters and NEED their story but now I won’t get it. Nope it will drive me insane! If it was a sign up for my newsletter to receive their story then that would be a different story. I respect those that give out a free story like that to those that are willing to sign up for their newsletter. It makes me want continue reading all their stuff! I am conflicted now bough cause the author did do an amazing job with this set and I know there are other books/series that I want to read but I also don’t wanna be let down with not getting bonus stories either.
