Collision of Angels

Rate this book
When Tony Campbell accepts his father-in-law’s invitation to chat, he braces himself for yet another of Silas Jackson’s ambitious business schemes. But even in his wildest imagination, Tony couldn’t have prepared himself for what Silas proposes this time: a run for the United States presidency. In the wake of recent controversial elections, Silas and his colleagues fear America is being run by the few and has turned it’s back on God. Their remedy: attempt to put a man of faith into the White House. This crusade proves to be the ultimate challenge however, and Tony finds himself facing his greatest test of faith ever. What appears to be a battle between church and state in the human realm is gradually revealed to have far higher stakes—with ramifications that echo throughout eternity. People on both sides of the aisle will recognize intriguing arguments in this novel and will doubtlessly be waiting for Collision of Angels to continue.

A Higher Calling

When God is ready to make changes in people’s lives and in the history of a nation, watch out. When a relatively unknown father and salesman is led to run as an independent candidate for the office of the President of the United States, you can imagine the battle that ensue between those who believe in his God-centered message and dream for the nation, and those who don’t.

This battle happens not only between the human beings involved, but between Satan’s minions as they try to impede any progress and God’s angels as they strive to protect the man willing to take the country on a new tangent.

This book is a testament to ensuring God is at the center of our decisions and way of life. Once we start turning to other things—money, alcohol, sports, politics—without taking God with us, we fail and we find ourselves in a hopeless situation. But, tapping into God’s power throughout everything in our lives, we can be assured of God’s presence and guidance—and the promise that we are never left on our own to fight these battles by ourselves.

This is the first book in the A Higher Call Series. I’m really looking forward to the next one!

Tony Campbell was surprised when his father-in-law and a group of like minded Christian men tell him they want to endorse his candidacy for president of the USA. The group feels that the USA is heading down the wrong path and needs someone who is a devout follower of Christ to lead the country back to where it should be.

The book is billed as a Christian thriller with the eternal fight between the forces of evil and the forces of good as a large part of the storyline. The thriller parts are actually well written and held my interest. Unfortunately, when Carver then writes about the campaign by Tony and his cohorts, the dialogue seems stilted and somewhat implausible. The constant barrage of the Christian message is overwhelming. If the preachiness were confined or treated more subtley, the story would progress much better. This is the first in a planned trilogy. As it stands, I would not progress to book two.
