I learnt so much about law from this book, and I got to understand how a top lawyer would think. To be able to find loopholes in the law is just incredible. As much as i appreciated how much he uses his critical thinking skills and is so intelligent, I’m quite shocked how many dangerous drunk drivers have been acquitted because of him and are allowed to be behind the wheel again.
One of the things I didn’t like was when he said that he ‘had an obligation’ to support his clients even if they were (morally)guilty (especially for the client who was drink driving and ruined the lives of a family in a car crash). I know law doesn’t equal morality and if he finds a loophole he has to use it, but really, does he HAVE to use it, even when the client has done something so bad?
Also I’m so appalled by how many police officers don’t follow procedures - isn’t it literally their job? And I do agree with Freeman when he says that if everyone else did their jobs properly, he wouldn’t have to use these loopholes and be able to defend the guilty.
I also applaud Freeman when he said he was even willing to go through the car traffic law with the parliament to help make things better for the law.
