Lance Morrow was an American essayist and writer, chiefly for Time magazine, as well as the author of several books. He won the 1981 National Magazine Award for Essay and Criticism and was a finalist for the same award in 1991. He had the distinction of writing more "Man of the Year" articles than any other writer in the magazine's history and has appeared on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson and The O'Reilly Factor. He was a former professor of journalism and University Professor at Boston University.
This is one of those books churned out in a hurry to take advantage of a major news story. At the time of writing, Ted Kaczynski had recently been captured, and the trial was a long way in the future. The book would be quite short without the pages and pages listing the evidence found in Kaczynski's cabin, and the inclusion of his Manifesto. Lots of opinions with very little to base them on, including the prediction that Kaczyinski's writing would be forgotten and he would be remembered only as a serial killer and terrorist. History has proved Time's reporters wrong.
