Six months ago Talia’s whole world was turned upside down when she found out her fiancé was a lying, cheating piece of fecal matter. She has spent most of her time since drowning in Ben and Jerry’s and dvds. Her bffs, Whitney and Lennon, decide that enough is enough, and force her get off the couch and go out with them. Unfortunately for Talia, the night doesn’t end well, and she winds up embarrassing herself in front of a gorgeous boxer named Lucas. She was hoping for a hot one night stand, but instead winds up barely walking away with her dignity.
Giving her one more push to get back out into the dating world, Whit and Lennon sign Talia up for adventure dating and practically dare her to go. Not one to back down from a challenge, she decides to follow through with it. That turns out to be a great idea, because Lucas just so happens to be there. Regardless of how bad things went last time she saw him, he is still very interested in Talia. Will the boxer be just what she needs to knock her out of her downward spiral of grief?
The Boxer is a great addition to the Modern Love series by Piper Rayne. At this point, I am pretty much one-clicking everything they write in the future. This is supposed to be a standalone, but if you want my opinion, I think you should read the previous book in the series first. You will get more of Talia’s back story, Whitney’s story, and more of the friendship between the three girls.
My favorite things about this story both begin with the letter L. The first is obviously Lucas. He is a boxer, for God’s sake, with a unicorn cock, a dirty mouth, and a soft heart. I adored him from the moment Talia met him, and I can’t see him ever giving me a reason for that to change. I may even love him more than Cole. Cole is Whitney’s boyfriend for those of you that haven’t read the awesomeness that is The Bachelor. The jury is still out, but he is definitely book boyfriend material. The second is Lennon. Yes, this is Talia’s book, but if you ask me, she was upstaged by my favorite member of the trio. Lennon is an AMAZING friend that never judges, amuses the hell out of me, and is always there for her friends whenever they need her. Between that, her unicorn van, outgoing personality, and sex toy empire aspirations, how can you not love her?? Being herself and not giving a single fuck what anyone else thinks also earns her major points from me.
Now, go read this book! Read The Bartender, too, if you haven’t! Then, pre-order The Banker, because I know by now that these ladies know what they are doing and you won’t be disappointed! Did I mention The Banker is Lennon’s book? I need it in my hands like yesterday! Overall, The Boxer is light, fluffy, steamy, and sweet. The story is entertaining with a twist at the end that I can’t believe I didn’t see coming, the writing is fantastic, the characters are three dimensional, and the romance is hot and heartwarming. Romance fans, this one's for you!!
*Something I didn't like about this book was the cover. Look at his arms! Does he look like a boxer to you??!!*

I really like this cover. I am not sure it is a super good representation of the story within, but at least the guy on the cover is blonde like the hero! The composition is great, though. It's very bright and eye catching. Simple yet attractive typography. Nice use of a tagline as well as a cute graphic letting us know it's part of a series. It's also similar to book one's cover keeping a nice consistency going throughout the series.
Another super sweet addition to the MODERN LOVE series by this super secret author duo. This is Tahlia's story, and if you've read book one, then you know Tahlia is the sensible one of this trio. You also know how she got her heart broken. Technically this can be read as a stand-alone, but I recommend starting with book one THE BARTENDER. One, because it's simply awesome, and two you will get a fuller experience from this book if you already have the background on these characters.
As I said, this is Tahlia's story, and we are six months out from the ending of the first book. Whitney and Lennon have had it with her moping around and drag her out to a boxing match. There she meets a boxer named Lucas, and after a series of embarrassing (but OH SO funny) incidents, Tahl doubts she'll ever hear from him again. Fate has other plans in mind for these two, and soon they are reunited. What follows is a super sweet, smokin' hot romp from broken hearted to a happily every after.
As with the first book this one was well-written. It had a nice pace to it. It had humor. It had a TINY bit of angst. No OW/OM drama. Both main characters were likable. I was glad despite what Tahlia's ex-fiancee had done to her she didn't push Lucas away. They get together fairly quickly, and despite a small hiccup near the end things are pretty smooth sailing. Lucas was a sweetheart. Didn't appear to be a manwhore and was a likable hero. We also get some awesome secondary characters (I CANNOT wait for Lennon's book) and an OK epilogue. As this is a series, I expect we will see more from this couple in future books, so I was okay with the epilogue we got.
Not much more to say. Two thumbs up from yours truly.

OhEmGee!! With friends like Whitney and Lennon, who the heck needs enemies?! I'm just kidding, they're awesome besties to Tahlia. But let me just say that the first time Tahlia and Lucas meet was surprisingly horrific because of some unintentional sabotage from her friends. Seriously, these three ladies are obviously the best of friends, almost sisterly, and they've got each others' backs.

The beginning of chapter one, imitating a boxing announcer and having Piper Rayne vs The Readers was extremely clever and something that I appreciated! Just a fun little opening to get you in the mood and relax. I could definitely go for one of those margaritas though!
The first encounter between Lucas and Tahlia, my first thought was 'Wow, this boy is flirty!' and I looooooove when the guy is flirty off the bat. I like banter. I like wit. I like charming and flirting and smiles and winks and *sigh* Lucas gives us that. Tahlia really didn't stand a chance. But man, stay away from Everclear! Nothing good ever comes from that. She's a mess and he's a trooper. I'm glad Whit and Lennon could sort everything out because someone needed to give that girl a hug, stat!
Please know, that I hate being a party pooper. I hate being picky and pointing out errors, but when an error is so obvious to me that my eye twitches, I can't keep my big mouth shut. So here's the deal: I used to work in a barn (for years) giving trail rides and teaching lessons to inexperienced riders. Heck, some of them were even more experienced and knew what was going on. The entire horseback riding scene, taking a group of people out for a trail ride? My twitchy eye broke out. If what happened in this book happened in real life, that establishment could be sued so quickly, their head would spin. There would not be dangerous or aggressive horses. These animals have to go through so much training, tests, and have a certain number of hours being ridden without incident to even be able to qualify to be used for beginners. No one, and I mean NO ONE!!!!!! would be allowed to ride doubles. Ever. Most horses aren't even used to people riding doubles and some would freak out. Hello liability! When a saddle is on - it would be a western saddle for a trail ride, especially in SF, their bodies would not be flush (the back of the saddle -- the cantle and the skirt would be in the way). Oh, and you would never in a million years tie up a horse with a rider still on. If you know anything about horses, this is a huge safety issue. *Deep breath.* Okay, again, I'm sorry. But liability, insurance issues, safety, etc., all gets me worked up when stuff like this happens. I've witnessed too many stupid mistakes in my time with horses to just let this go so quickly.
There's so many awesome scenes and moments in The Boxer. I like to take notes when I know that I'll be reviewing a book and some of mine for this novel included: The yacht! Lucas to the rescue, he's awesome. The Spa! I love it! Massages for the win! When they watched movies -- Lucas just picked Grease and I think I feel in love with him. Just to give you a bit of a sense, apparently I liked it. These were all so cute.
Can I just say, when the scene with the cinnamon roll happened, I was legitimately laughing my ass off. Everything about it was perfect. Lucas's amusement, Tahlia's freak out, the little girl, all of it. My first thought was that Tahl is a hot mess but man, I would've done the exact same thing in her shoes.
Secondary character wise, I liked Lennon a LOT better in this book. I don't know why but just couldn't get a good vibe from her in The Bartender, but now I'm practically counting down the days until we can get her story!
Guessing plot twists is one of my favourite past times because apparently I'm a weirdo. So I love that for the longest time, I couldn't figure out what would happen with Lucas and Tahlia! Here were a bunch of little breadcrumb clues scattered throughout, I knew that something wasn't adding up but until just before it happened, I was clueless and I love when this happens.
When I first heard about the concept and synopsis for The Bartender, I was super intrigued. Then I read it and really enjoyed it. So when the opportunity arose to review a copy of The Boxer, Tahlia's book, I jumped on this faster than a cat on a mouse and Piper Rayne does not disappoint. Fresh, fun and flirty is the only way to describe the Modern Love series! The Boxer is a light, enjoyable read with enough sizzle to make you blush. Especially the next time you go to the spa. ;)

Pretty cliche.
Don't get me wrong, it was a pretty cute read, too bad it had nothing special. Truth be told, I can't remember much of it (and I finished it less than a week ago).
I remember the cute, sweet characters and a bit of the plot, but nothing memorable. True, it's pretty common for this to happen in romances, but I can't really give a book more than 3 stars if I can barely remember what happened less than a week after finishing it.
Not a bad read, just nothing special either. It all depends on how bored you are.

Well, I am not exactly hooked. The whole idea of the story is good. With Lucas hiding his identity through out the book, it surely can add to the drama.
The plot ans the writing is light. Miss Rayne intended Hooked on the Boxer for a NA audience. The heroine is annoying as shit. Her push and pull and over think everything is jist too much.
Overall an OK read.

Ok so I loved The Bartender and the little tease we got for this book was enough to have me waiting with baited breath for the release of this one. But of course there is always that concern that this book isn’t going to live up to all that I have built it up to in my head. And since The Bartender is the only book by Piper Rayne I have read I was doubly scared it was a fluke. Two pages in and I knew I was good.
The Boxer was awesome. We had the same great characters and a perfect continuation of a story that I was dying to see resolved. Thankfully we didn’t have to wait long for the release so my goldfish brain could remember who everyone was and how they all fit together. I got the humour I loved along with the warm fuzzies and just the perfect touch of angst and drama.
So I have to admit it was almost all about Lucas for me even though the book was told entirely from Tahlia’s point of view or maybe specifically for that reason. He was the perfect book boyfriend. Didn’t hurt that he was an insanely sexy possessive, protective, alpha, boxer. The chemistry between them was so strong and the instant attraction was so much fun to watch.
Tahlia had been through so much with Chase that it was really good to see her with a guy so different to him who treated her like she deserved to be treated. But damn I was really hoping to see Chase get hit by a bus or have a piano land on him. But I guess I am in the minority of wanting to see vengeance in my romance. Lol
And now that Lennon is up next I just know there is going to be a whole heap of crazy mixed in with the sweet and I really can’t wait to see the continuation of both Cole and Whit and Lucas and Tahlia.

I really enjoyed The Bartender and the sexy, funny way that Whit and Cole met. But I just couldn’t get past Tahlia and Lucas’s gross and cringe worthy opening in this one. The whole debacle after the fight was too much of a turn-off for me. While Lucas certainly intrigued me and I tried to carry on for a chapter or two after that for his sake, I just couldn’t help but feel that the first impression Tahlia made was that of an absolute hot mess, and I honestly couldn’t figure why a sexy guy like Lucas would maintain interest in her. While I imagine it was meant as comedy, it went too far in the gross-out humor department, hindering any kind of insta lust or romance vibe. I felt bad for Lucas, and no sympathy towards Tahlia who is old enough to know her limits. Her friends didn’t help either. It left me glad I didn’t have friends like them, especially Lennon— I was on the fence about her from the first book and this seemed to seal the deal that she’s too over the top for my tastes.

Well that was fun! This is the first time I have read this authors books and I look forward to reading many more! I didn’t read The Bartender, but you can bet your bottom dollar I will now and I can’t wait for The Banker, which is Talia’s crazy friend Lennon’s book! This book is about Lucas and Talia.
This is a laugh out loud funny love story. Between the crazy that is Lennon in her unicorn van and sex toy empire and all her and Whitney’s ideas to get Talia out of her funk. The funk was caused because Talia found out before her wedding that her finance was a lying cheating creep! She has spent the last 6 months drowning in her romcom DVD’s and Ben & Jerry’s! She was devastated that she didn’t see him for what he was.
Talia is an executive in her family’s sausage business. That’s a giggle by itself! She really wants to be a wedding planner, but she has no brothers to take over the family business and her hippie younger sister is not management material, so she feels that it is her family obligation. Tahl is usually attracted to the rich suit wearing gentleman. She was raised in the upper crust and always thought that was the life she wanted, until her ex opened her eyes. Time for a change of scenery!
Lucas is the ultimate sexy bad boy to knock the breath right out of Talia. Her friends dragged her to an amateur boxing match and she met Lucas by chance in line to buy a drink prior to the fights. This is the 2nd book in MODERN LOVE series. This one is about Tahlia & Lucas.
Like the first book, this is another nice pastime, a hot and light read whenever you are in the mood.
The characters are likable, the plot is really simple and there is very low angst.
In order to understand the characters and events fully, you need to read Book 1 before this book.
The book is as short as 200 pages; therefore, some things are rushed and the male character isn’t portrayed deeply enough.
Also, the problems are quickly solved and I really wondered why he didn’t grovel enough for his mistake and she had to go to him to make-up.
Actually, the things he kept secret were no big deal to keep as secret... at least not after they became lovers. He could have come clean long before or he should have grovelled harder for keeping so many secrets...
As in Book 1, there is again no wedding and no epilogue with children at the end of Book 2, this is modern love, you know!? :)))) Who knows, maybe there will be a group wedding at the end of Book 3, but I don't know if I ever will be bold enough to read the crazy girl Lennon's story...
If you can be content with “your hero & heroine living together happily at the end of the book”, then you may try it. It is not bad, but nothing special, either.

This book was ok at the beginning. The sexy talk was cringey and the hero gave stalker vibes but the premise was decent. The story is all told in the heroine’s POV, done so we never see fully who the hero is. His backstory remains a mystery through the majority of the book, however it’s pretty easy to guess who he really is. He basically lies to her the whole book by not revealing his true self (including a fake name) and at the end she apologizes to him for staying away and not giving him a second chance…da fuck? The ending ruined it. It needed a big grovel from him not an apology from her. No thanks.
And her best friend Lennon was the worst friend I have read in a long while. Just terrible.

So I struggled with this one, but it was mainly because of Tahlia.
I get that she was scorned by her last relationship. She was so quick to leave Lucas over everything that I understand why he kept some things from her. I do feel like she completely over-exaggerated so many things.
It also doesn't help that we don't get Lucas's POV at all in this one. I have realized I need dual POV desperately in books.

Prim girl meets supposed bad boy at a boxing ring, bets on him inadvertently and get her knickers wet, but one embarrassment after another follows and the promise of a sultry night to come screeches prematurely to a halt. Well, there's a little more than that of course, as 'class conflict' and shades of infidelity and deception are written into the plot...and who the rough-and-tumble boxer really is, isn't quite who we can expect.
I'm not entirely too sure how to rate my first ever read by Piper Rayne, to be honest. As a story written solely in Tahlia's POV, I felt as though this became a case of a completely unveiled heroine - we know her flaws, her insecurities and her hopes - but almost nothing about Lucas Cummings, except for the bare facts that he lets her know about him, as revealed to us by the authors. That Lucas remains tight-lipped about what he does and who he really is didn't make him a character that I could understand, let alone connect with. Eventually, it all comes to a head, forming the bulk of the conflict, yet I couldn't shrug away the dissatisfied feel when Lucas seemed to stay an enigma who was content to dole out only the pieces of himself that he wanted people to know.
I personally prefer both the H/hr to be stripped bare - not just physically and not only at the end of the book - so this was a story that left me somewhat frustrated and sitting on the fence. With their emotional connection and compatibility overshadowed by their physical chemistry (this is way too common these days), I turned the last page actually wondering whether Lucas/Tahlia would actually be a couple who could even last beyond the HFN that Rayne gives us.

Once again this writing duo knocked it out of the park. The Boxer was everything sweet and fun that you want to find in your romance fiction, wrapped around a could of heart. BIG SMILES for this one!
Tahlia and Lucas have chemistry from the moment they meet. You can feel it in the story! Their journey is low angst and high passion. It's a great read with lots of feels!

When I saw that my one of my new favorite author duos had another book coming out in the Modern Love series I couldn't jump aboard fast enough! Tahlia and Lucas were on FIRE! They were equally sweet and sexy and I could not get enough! I couldn't wait to see how a sassy spitfire with a broken heart was going to rock this alpha macho Boxer off his feet.
Picking up right where book one left off, The Boxer right hooks its way straight to our hearts with a combination of swoons and heat. Tahlia Santora, the family business do-gooder and prim and proper lady, is nursing a broken heart after her fiancée was caught cheating in book one. So her two bffs decide to sign her up for an adventure dating course to bring her out of her shell. But what happens when the one man she really wants and falls for is hiding secrets from her? Is this heartbreak all over again or is it time for her to tap out before she's down for the count?
I really loved this book and thought it was an amazing addition to the series. Lucas and Tahlia were great together. I also loved the comradery between the girls as I felt their love and loyalty to each other was just as amazing as Tahlia's romance with Lucas and Whitney's relationship with Cole. Their sisterhood was an awesome thing to see. I can NOT wait for Lennon's book as that ending sucked me in!!!! Bring on The Banker!! 4.5 stars! ~ Ratula

When I saw the first book in this series, The Bartender, I decided to give it a try, it looked kind of cute. Holy hell, but I LOVED it! So naturally I waited with anticipation for the next installment in this addictive series. I mean, really, Thalia absolutely deserved her chance at a HEA for dealing with her twat-waffle of an ex. Luckily, the wonderful duo that is Piper Rayne has written in the best friend group ever. These ladies are so different, yet so perfect for each other, and yeah yeah it's a romance... but really, half the fun is in reading about these friends.
"Tahl, I hate to break it to you, but you've gotten lazy after the douchecanoe debacle."
Although their efforts to help Thalia out of her funk were occasionally a bit, um, misguided, they inadvertently give her the perfect opportunity to meet the man of my-- I mean her- dreams. There was just something about Lucas. No, not something. How about all the things. Alpha yet sweet. Strong yet gentle. So tough, but never afraid to show his soft side for the one who deserves it. I love a strong man who isn't an ass.
"You better ride him like you're a fucking rodeo star, girl"
I couldn't have said it better myself. Of course, the snark and puns flow as strongly in The Boxer as they did in the Bartender, yet the voice is different, the story it's own. The banter kept me laughing, the romance had me swooning, and the steamy scenes, well, they practically fogged up my kindle. Yet nothing felt over the top, it all just flowed so smoothly. Quickly enough to keep you moving through the pages, engrossed in the story, yet never fast enough to leave you behind.
"He's trouble, but damn, he's like chocolate. I shouldn't indulge, but my willpower is too weak."
Fortunately, I didn't need to worry about my lack of willpower, as this was a guilt free indulgence. Which is even more fortunate considering I was left with an overwhelming desire to binge on cinnamon rolls to help me survive that ending. The Banker can't get here fast enough!

Bereits "The Bartender" hatte mir sehr gut gefallen, daher war ich sehr gespannt auf "The Boxer". Warum ich nun so lange gewartet habe es zu lesen, kann ich wirklich nicht sagen.
Wie auch "The Bartender" überzeugt "The Boxer"mit einem tollen Humor, der mich immer wieder zum lachen und schmunzeln bringt, mit sympathisch Charakteren und einer heißen Liebesgeschichte.
Das Freundinnen-Trio ist einfach total klasse. Die drei Frauen sind völlig unterschiedlich, verstehen sich aber blind. Ich finde es toll wie die Drei füreinander da sind und sich gegenseitig helfen. In diesem Buch versuchen Whit und Lennon Tahlia wieder in die Spur zu bringen, die sich von ihrem betrügerisch Ex-Verlobten getrennt hat. Die Ideen mit dem Abenteuer-Dating fand ich wirklich super, auch wenn ich mich da vermutlich genauso unwohl fühlen würde wie Tahlia.
Die Liebesgeschichte zu Lucas konnte mich wirklich begeistern. Die beiden haben einfach super zusammengepasst und es ging ziemlich heiß her zwischen den beiden. Tahlia hat mich zum Ende hin zwar ein wenig in den Wahnsinn getrieben mit ihrer sturen Art, aber dennoch mochte ich sie wirklich gerne. Lucas war ebenfalls ein sehr sympathischer Kerl und auch ihn mochte ich richtig gerne.
Zu Beginn war ich ein wenig skeptisch, ob mir die Boxer-Szene gefallen wird, aber diese lag zum Glück nicht allzu sehr im Fokus und das was zu lesen war, hat mir definitiv gefallen.

4.5 stars. I loved Lucas and Tahlia. I love how Tahlia found Lucas and the asshole Chase. She was way to good for him anyway. Lucas is amazing with her and patient. I also love how each book includes Tahlia, Whitney and Lennon. How each of them is in each book. Piper Rayne is definitely worth reading.

In realtà il libro di Piper Rayne (o sarebbe meglio dire Piper & Rayne) non è uno sport romance, perché il ring è solo il posto dove i due protagonisti si incontrano, il resto è ambientato nei luoghi più disparati e chic: cavalcata al tramonto, crociera sul fiume, ristoranti speakeasy, spa di lusso ecc.
Tahlia e Lucas appartengono all’élite di San Francisco ma cercano la semplicità, cercano di fuggire dalla gabbia dorata in cui sono nati; non crediate che siano ingrati: vogliono soltanto volare con le proprie ali e provare ad avere paura di quel volo.
"Si china in avanti. «E tu cosa vuoi, Tahlia?» Ho i brividi sul collo e sono contenta di non avere legato i capelli in una coda di cavallo come al solito. «Voglio te,» dico."
Tahlia e Lucas. Zuccona la prima, energico il secondo. Ma anche dolce, appassionato, sicuro di sé e determinato. Solo le paure di lei riescono a mettere in dubbio le sue certezze. Tahl è anche goffa e questo, insieme alla sfacciataggine della sua amica Lennon, dà vita a equivoci e situazioni divertenti che alleggeriscono l’atmosfera e rendono il racconto ancora più piacevole.
Certo, non manca il colpo di scena, anche se un po’ scontato, ma soprattutto non manca la scintilla tra i nostri due protagonisti che fa incendiare ogni pagina e ogni cuore. Sì perché l’amore tra Lucas e Tahlia prende vita pagina dopo pagina e trasporta le lettrici in un mare di dolcezza e languore che apre le danze ai sogni più romantici…e piccanti anche😜.
Altro che sport, questo romanzo parla decisamente di amore condito da un pizzico di ironia ed è tutto da gustare!

In realtà il libro di Piper Rayne (o sarebbe meglio dire Piper & Rayne) non è uno sport romance, perché il ring è solo il posto dove i due protagonisti si incontrano, il resto è ambientato nei luoghi più disparati e chic: cavalcata al tramonto, crociera sul fiume, ristoranti speakeasy, spa di lusso ecc.
Tahlia e Lucas appartengono all’élite di San Francisco ma cercano la semplicità, cercano di fuggire dalla gabbia dorata in cui sono nati; non crediate che siano ingrati: vogliono soltanto volare con le proprie ali e provare ad avere paura di quel volo.
"Si china in avanti. «E tu cosa vuoi, Tahlia?» Ho i brividi sul collo e sono contenta di non avere legato i capelli in una coda di cavallo come al solito. «Voglio te,» dico."
Tahlia e Lucas. Zuccona la prima, energico il secondo. Ma anche dolce, appassionato, sicuro di sé e determinato. Solo le paure di lei riescono a mettere in dubbio le sue certezze. Lucas è un uragano silente, che non esplode ma ti travolge con i suoi modi da gentleman e le sopracciglia perfette, è un uomo che sa come far sentire una donna al sicuro e come spazzare via le sue insicurezze.

5 Star Review Hooked on the Boxer (Modern Love #2) by Piper Rayne

Hooked on the Boxer was an entertaining listen. Narrated by Maxine Mitchell and Jason Clarke, both narrators did justice to the characters of Tahlia and Lucas.
My heart broke for Tahlia after learning that her ex was a lying cheating jerk but luckily she had her girls to support her. Now they have given her enough time to feel sorry for herself, they are determined to bring her back into the dating world.
When she meets boxer Lucas Cummings there is a connection, the sparks fly and even though he is not her normal type, she decides to take a chance. After all she was engaged to her “type” and look what happened there. Although not a long book, there is certainly plenty of heat, witty banter and humor.
The strong friendship between Tahlia, Whitney and Lennon added an additional layer to the story. They always have one another’s back and the love and support they give to one another is heart warming and I cannot wait for Lennon’s story to release.
As their relationship developed it was entertaining to watch the push and pull dynamic play out with chemistry that was intense. Could Lucas be the one to convince Tahlia to take another chance at love? One click and find out.

I enjoyed the first book in the Modern Love series, The Bartender. It was funny, charming, romantic, with a dash of heat, and Piper Rayne delivers all of that and more with The Boxer.
One of the aspects of this novel that draws me in as a reader is the relationship between Whit, Lennon, and Thalia. I never laughed so hard as when the three of them are together. The love between these three are clear, and I love how they bring their men into the fold, making this new group with each book.
What really sold me on this book, though, is the relationship between Lucas and Thalia. From the first scene with them together, their flirting ignites their chemistry. Lucas has that confident swagger down that makes him hard to resist. He also has that protective alpha thing down pat, and I swooned over all the ways he livens and dirties up Thalia. Thalia at the beginning is a little lost, but she comes into her own through the help of her friends and her relationship with Lucas. Watching her evolution, actually the change in both of the main characters, makes for a fun and romantic journey.
I absolutely love this story. It is fun, quick, hilarious, romantic, and HOT! From the opening pages I was laughing, and I was pushing Thalia along with her friends to live a little. And, boy, does she live with Lucas! It makes me want to go find my own boxer!

This, was definitely better than the first one. I liked the connection between, Tahlia and Lucas. The premise was pretty good, but the prose was still somewhat lacking. Hoping the next one is even better.

Auch die Fortsetzung hat mir gut gefallen, wenn ich auch den ersten Band einen Ticken besser fand. Thalia und Lucas sind aber trotzdem ein sympathisches Paar. Ich bin jetzt gespannt, was mit der dritten im Bunde, Lennon passieren wird.

I adored the first book so I wasn’t going to pass on the chance to read Tahlia’s story.
Tahlia Santora is the perfect socialite girl; prim and proper, hardworking, poised and had been living the fairytale life until she realized her fiancée, the only she ever has been with, has been cheating on her with every woman available. After wallowing in sadness and self-pity for six months her friends convince her to go to a boxing match, there she meets the wonderful specimen that is Lucas Cummings and decides she’s going to have her first one night stand, except Tahl is not a one night stand kind of girl.
I identified a lot with Tahlia in this one because I do know what is like to have a dream and not having the guts to pursue it, I know what is like to watch everyone around you being happy and wondering why can’t you be like that and I totally sympathize with her and her fear of being alone forever. So, for me this was a wonderful book because it managed to touch something inside me.
Lucas of course was also a wonderful character; he was the complete opposite of what Tahl was used to and everything she never knew she wanted but
The writing of course was wonderful, the authors have a funny and fresh way around their stories and their dialogues are always so amusing and cheeky. It was great to see the three crazy friends together again and I can’t wait for Lennon’s story.
So, another five unicorn stars for this one!

I really enjoyed this second entry in the "Modern Love" series by Piper Rayne.
Thalia is where I think we all have been. She is recovering from one of those break-ups that not only leave you single, but leave you doubting who you are, how you picked the man you broke up with, and wondering how to go on when you have lost what you thought was your future. I have been where she is (albeit less dramatically and less cheating...this is all revealed in the first book...so I think I related to her.
Lucas is what he seems, and he isn't. I also really liked this, mainly because I was really enamored with him, the way he was written, and the fact that he was willing to tell her what he wanted from life, what he wanted for his future, and what he wanted from her. I loved his reasons for the things he did, and the integrity it showed. I loved their connection.
Honestly, I originally was going to give this one 4.5 stars, but as I am writing this, I realize this is definitely one for the 5 list.
There are some twists and turns in this one that make it hard to be specific in the review without spoilers, so I will leave it here...I recommend this book. This is the second in the series and it can be read as a standalone, however I do think events in the previous book, and getting to know the characters in that one, is valuable for enjoying this one...but not necessary.
