Un mundo donde existen ninjas modernos, pero que están escondidos haciendo misiones específicas, entre ellos unos de 17 años a quién no se le ha asignado ninguna hasta el momento.
Historia con diferentes personajes realistas, como es característico del mangaka, que los sitúa en una posición específica dentro de la historia inicial, pero ya veremos hacia donde va esto, ya que el escenario y contexto, al parecer, tiene un enfoque en torno a algo más grande por lo que se pudo ver hacia el desenlace de este tomo.
La historia me ha parecido interesante, el dibujo, como siempre, realista, limpio y muy agradable.
Un tomo con muy poco diálogo, pero que funciona completamente.

En voilà un nouveau titre qui me faisait vachement envie! J’ai eu très envie de le découvrir et je n’ai pas été déçue le moins du monde! J’ai adoré ce premier tome, il y a un peu un côté complètement barré avec beaucoup d’humour. Je suis déjà hyper impatiente de découvrir la suite de cette histoire, je sens que je vais passer un excellent moment à chaque fois. Moi qui aime les histoires avec les ninjas, je dois bien avouer qu’ici, il s’agi d’une histoire avec des ninjas quelque peu particuliers!
Dans ce premier tome, on découvre que même après des siècles, les ninjas sont parmi nous. Jouissant autrefois d’un grand prestige, ces combattants émérites avaient disparu après-guerre, leur organisation prétendument démantelée par les Forces Alliées. En réalité, il n’en est rien. Aujourd’hui, ces maîtres en infiltration, espionnage ou assassinat compteraient près de 200 000 membres : une partie représente une élite prenant part aux conflits à grande échelle, tandis que l’autre peine à se maintenir en activité. C’est le cas de Kurô Kumogakure, jeune shinobi aussi redoutable que désœuvré… Son quotidien de faux oisif bascule le jour où on lui confie enfin une mission : stopper un tueur d’origine russe, prêt à tous les massacres pour infiltrer l’organisation des ninjas.
Les histoires avec les ninjas, j’adore ça, mais il est vrai qu’ici ce sont des ninjas particuliers. Surtout notre personnage principal, Kurô. C’est un peu un flemmard, appelons un chat un chat n’est ce pas.. Il passe son temps à glander et ne rien foutre. Il n’a aucune mission et passe son temps à squatter chez son voisin. Mais sa petite vie tranquille va finir par basculer lorsqu’il reçoit un ordre de mission, il doit stopper un tueur russe qui est prêt à tous les massacres pour pouvoir infiltrer l’organisation des ninjas.. D’ailleurs ce personnage m’a beaucoup fait rire, la façon dont il s’y prend pour infiltrer l’organisation, c’est complètement déjanté! J’ai beaucoup aimé le personnage de Kurô, il m’a bien fait rire parfois. Surtout la scène avec sa voisine ou même lorsqu’il découvre son voisin avec un soutien gorge. C’est des petites situations comme ça qui m’ont bien fait rire. Je suis très curieuse de suivre sa mission, surtout lorsque l’on découvre le pouvoir de sa veste.. Je sens que la suite va être très intéressante!

Under Ninja ist Band 1 einer noch laufenden japanischen Manga Reihe mit bis jetzt 8 Teilen. Den Mangaka Kengo Hanazawa kennt man von dem Manga "I am a hero", den ich vorher nicht kannte. Mich hat das Thema angesprochen. Ich meine, Ninjas sind doch echt cool, oder?
Kurou ist einer von ihnen, er ist 17 Jahre alt und einer von 200.000 Ninjas, die im Verborgenen leben und nur darauf warten einen Auftrag zu bekommen. Diese Grundidee fand ich ziemlich cool, einen noch jungen Ninja bei seinem Auftrag zu begleiten, hört sich spannend an.
Leider konnte mich die Geschichte dann nicht überzeugen, dafür passierte mir zu wenig in die Ninja Richtung. Wir lernen die Nachbarn von Kurou kennen, die nun ja, etwas speziell sind. Da gibt es ganz viele komische Situationen. Ob jedoch im Sinne von Lustig oder Sonderbar muss jeder für sich entscheiden. Mein Humor was es bedauerlicherweise nicht. Der ging für mich eher in eine vorpubertäre Richtung. Aber da der Manga ab 18 Jahren ist, richtet er sich an ein Erwachsenenpublikum.
Mit den Charakteren wurde ich auch nicht warm, dafür waren sie zu speziell, vielleicht muss man sich erst an sie gewöhnen. Die ganze Geschichte bzw. wo der Manga hinführen möchte erschließt sich mir noch nicht, dafür muss man vermutlich dann noch Band 2 lesen. Ich passe aber und lasse die Reihe sein.
Denn der Zeichenstil konnte mich auch nicht überzeugen. Nicht falsch verstehen, er ist nicht schlecht. Aber ich mochte die fehlende Feinheiten bei der Mimik nicht, so hatten die Gesichtsausdrücke für mich oft etwas Ähnliches.
Fazit:
Nicht für jeden etwas. Under Ninja ist speziell und man sollte vorher einen Blick in den Manga werfen, um zu sehen, ob er etwas für einen ist. Die Geschichte konnte mich leider nicht abholen, trotz der coolen Thematik und der Humor war auch nicht meins. Wobei ich bei der Namenserklärung von Kurou schmunzeln musste.

The central premise is that there is an abundance of ninja living amongst us doing regular jobs and living mundane lives, but all ready to be activated if needed. Many of these ninja complete under cover side missions, like theft, intelligence gathering and even assassinations as needed. The story follows Kudo, a deadbeat teen who is suddenly tapped to be the last line of defense against a surge of ninja threatening Tokyo. The story is pretty goofy and offbeat, with a peculiar sense of humor that doesn't always land for me. The characters are also not really all that interesting, and it's pretty unclear how they're all supposed to connect to the central plot.
It takes a while to get used to Hanazawa's use of photorealistic artwork, but when it works it really looks gorgeous. I haven't read Hanazawa's previous lauded entries, but this was decent enough that I am curious to give those a try in the future. I'm not sure if Under Ninja will stack up well against something like I am a Hero, but there is potential in this series for improvement with subsequent volumes once the tone and characterization issues are ironed out.

In this series, ninjas live among us, working in boring jobs as office workers, retail employees, and delivering your mail. But, they’re also performing secret missions on the side – UNDER cover if you will. This definitely felt like a book 1; we barely get a full introduction to the characters and the setting, but that’s fine. There’s lots more to come. I really appreciate the art style of this series; ultra-realism in manga art is a bit harder to pull off I think, but the mangaka does it very well. The tone in this is peculiarly comedic, but not really in a laugh-out-loud kind of way. More funny odd, then funny ‘haha’. I really like it, but I’m kinda funny myself (also in an odd way). Production value isn’t something I usually bring up in my manga reviews, but I’ll say it here. Denpa knocked it out of the park with this one. This book has no business being this gorgeous. The paper quality is superb, the cover is sturdy and thick. Would love it if more publishers put out books like this one.

Los ninjas aun existen!!!, aunque hay unos que les va mejor que otros y nuestro protagonista es de baja escala, no tiene trabajo, no tiene una vivienda digna y no tiene un peso, pero, le pusierón una tarea...
LO BUENO: Llegue por lo que habia hecho Kengo Hanazawa con su I AM A HERO, y la idea me vendio y aunque al inicio me choco la comedia y que pasara entre poco y nada, con tiempo me fue atrapando, presentando persoajes, y si apenas hay un par de escenas de acción., son muy bien hechas, se crea un misterio de a pocos en las ultimas paginas que te deja con ganas de saber, ¿porque?. El arte cumple, dinamico y con el detalle infernal de Kengo y su escuadrón de ayudantes.
LO MALO: Se demora mucho, pero mucho en arrancar...hay paginas algo desperdiciadas.

Autant j'aime les dessins des décors, très réalistes et détaillés, ainsi que le fait que les personnages soient un peu cracra et vrais, autant je trouve qu'il se passe trop peu de choses pour me donner envie de continuer.
On n'est ni dans l'action, ni dans le côté tranche de vie. Il n'y a pas assez d'événements à raconter et je ne suis pas convaincue par la manière de dessiner les mouvements ou les expressions des personnages. Les personnages principaux n'ont pas grand chose d'attachant non plus.
Je pense continuer la série si j'ai l'occasion de l'emprunter, mais chaque tome est trop pauvre en histoire et dessin pour payer 8euros à chaque tome.

Fucking weird, but kind of a fun quick read.
Got a dude living alone, he's a ninja, in modern day Tokyo. And one day someone comes by and gives him a mission to be a undercover student. Very JumpStreet 21 but before he does he decides to hang out with his drunk neighbor who's a cutie, then his other neighbor who stole a bra, and also a guy going around town wanting to be a ninja and slicing dicks off people.
I don't know how to describe this other than weird as shit, yet strangely entertaining. Glad Hoopla started adding some manga on it to read.

Enjoyed it a lot. Hanazawa is very attuned to how a societal bottom-feeder functions. Like his previous work 'I Am A Hero', this one also reads like a goofier, action-oriented Asano.
Love the art and all the action sequences. He's very cinema-minded, with certain moments that would normally take just one panel to convey will go on for several pages. The backgrounds are, at times, a little too much just vectorized photographs, but also making comics is incredibly hard so I say take all the shortcuts you want.

Im modernen Japan leben die Ninja immer noch unter der Zivilbevölkerung. In Wirklichkeit sind sie eine hocheffiziente Eliteeinheit, die von der Regierung in Krisenherden auf der ganzen Welt eingesetzt werden. Der junge Protagonist ist qausi ein Ninja-Anfänger und muss sich seinen Ruf erst noch verdienen.
Dabei hilft ihm ein Hoodie mit dessen Hilfe er sich unsichtbar machen kann.
Liebe das Setting aber der Manga ist wirklich SEHR vulgär. Bisschen zu doll für mein Geschmack. Mal schauen wie die Nachfolgebände so sind.

I hated this. If I could give it less than 1 star, I would. The star can be for the art, which is awesome!! And i enjoyed the mangakas other work 'I am hero' well enough. But the story and especially dialogue of this one was just awful for me. Almost didn't make it through but forced myself to finish this volume.

Solid first volume, the premise of having ninjas being hired to fight in wars is a cool concept. Then to see how they’re treated like most veterans in the real work is saying something. The Russian ninja wannabe is an interesting take, I’m sure him and the MC will have a big fight. Besides the weird stuff sprinkled in the volume I would say this did a good job at setting some stuff ahead.

I think the concept here is good, but I felt like nothing happened in this volume.
We are introduced to a lot of different characters, but no real action takes place.
I’m interested to see what happens and the concept isn’t bad so I give this one 3/5.

Et enkelt bind virker som et lidt tyndt grundlag, at anmelde mangaen ud fra. Jeg vil prøve at få fat i nogle flere, for den er helt klart interessant.
Det er et ret stærkt anslag, og en historie der nok skal blive sjov at følge med i.

Definitely a fun read I’ll continue to see where it goes. Doesn’t give a whole lot to go off of from the jump but enticing enough for my interest. If you’re a fan of the authors works (which I haven’t checked out much of) I can imagine there’s plenty for you here.

Very slow paced, needs to show us much more than this.

Absolutely loved the art however the characters weren’t likable at all. The every day ninja’s living amongst society was a cool concept but the execution of the idea didn’t materialize in this issue. Also found the story was trying to push too many narratives instead of completing one core mission.

Kengo Hanazawa's "Under Ninja 1" is a sly delight done in the traditional manga style. But the creator posits a question: What does the under average ninja accomplish? Does the below average ninja have "work" to do? From that hypothesis does he brings forth Kudo, 17 year old high school average student. The cast of characters are idiosyncratic as Kudo navigates his assignment from a Japanese governmental organization which arose from WW2 and subsequently has hired 20,000 ninjas to defend Japan.
Definitely worth your time to enjoy.

It’s ok, the story is a bit off but the art is very good with some great backgrounds.
