In Book Two, travel to Pennsylvania for a stay at The Egress Hotel. In Book Three, visit London's most haunted cemetery, Highgate. In Book Four, discover Rohaise !
Two women, centuries apart, united by one obsession.
Kenna Jackson is stressed. London is sucking the life out of her and there’s no way to escape the rat race. Or is there? When an opportunity presents itself out of the blue, she decides to take it. After all, it’s change she craves.
Drumlin Castle has stood for ten centuries and no doubt will stand for ten more. Set in the heart of the Aberdeenshire countryside, it’s witnessed the best of life…and the worst.
Not much is known of Rohaise, who once lived there, only that she was a fiery redhead, the mistress of the Laird, and that she lost her life defending both him and the castle.
As Kenna settles into her new role as Drumlin’s manager, she becomes more and more intrigued with Rohaise, determined to flesh out this mysterious figure from a bygone age.
The past, though, as she’s about to learn, can be hell.

Kenna is keen to leave the London rat race and accepts a job at Drumlin - a remote castle in Northern Scotland - and becomes interested and then obsessed by a tale from the 16th century of Rohaise - who fell in love with the wrong person and paid a harsh and horrible price. This is the fourth book in the Haunted World series by Shani Struthers and its well up there with the others (all standalones, as is Rohaise) as you really feel the ambition, excitement, fear and remoteness that Kenna experiences and her gradual connection with Rohaise as she's discovers more what what actually happened. It's not gruesome or graphic as it concentrates more on feelings and atmosphere but if you want an excellent ghost story, then look no further.
Oh WOW Shani has done it again, this book is so amazing and intense, loved this story so so much. The first book I ever read of Shani Struthers was The Venetian which was also the first in this sreies and I didn't think I would beat it but this one did. I can really recommend all of Shani's books they are brilliant.
it's been 10 years since I first picked up a Shani Struthers book, looking for a new fix of ghostly horror novels due to the departure of the beloved James Herbert. From that first story of Highdown Hall, I've been a loyal fan of Shani's writing, trying to keep up with her prolific speed of releases.
Whilst providing us with excellent ghost stories, Shani has always managed to stay authentic to the genre but also injected her own unique story telling methods. Stories that weave normality and humour amongst the things that go bump in the night. To me, that allows her to stand toe to toe with the likes of James Herbert and Susan Hill.
Rohaise was again, a perfectly written novel that blended everyday life with the not so every day. A beautiful backdrop of an ancient castle with a likewise ancient tale of love and death. At times, the book took uncomfortable turns (as you'd expect), but there was always a feeling of hope and comfort, something that I will always associate with Shani's writing. And the ending, whilst finished beautifully, does lead to a potential follow up. However, a third addition to the Jessamine story first, eh?!
If you're looking for ghost stories, look no further. This is a stand alone novel so can be enjoyed at any stage of her bibliography.
As always a damn good read! I love this type of psychological mystery tinged with horror as only Ms Struthers can manage to pull off. Excellent Scottish ghost story that would make an excellent film as it played out in my head - so well described I could see Drumlin Castle, the forest, Rohaise's room and each of the characters as though they were real and I'd visited a real place.
Just wow!!!! The rollercoaster I’ve just been on is immense! Poor Rohaise and all she suffered, in death as well as in life! That bloody shit Alexander! Adam too! Thank god for Gregor! I love Shani’s books but this was something else. A real work of art! If I could I would’ve given it more than 5*

Shani Struthers has once again written a wonderful ghost story. Full of atmosphere, it draws you in until you imagine yourself at Drumlin, the castle in the Scottish Highlands. This Haunted World is a brilliant series, I would highly recommend reading them all.
A beautifully crafted tale with well written settings and characters. I really enjoyed this book, it's creepy, dark in places, and thoroughly absorbing. I couldn't wait to find out about Rohaise and what happened to her, and what would happen to Kenna upon her quest to uncover the mystery surrounding Rohaise. It did give me some goose-bumps! The perfect book to curl up with and lose yourself in!
Shani Struthers has surpassed herself this time. This book is by far the best one yet. In your mind you can imagine what all the characters looked like and actually warm to the characters knowing what each one is all about. This is a book I thoroughly recommend you won't be disappointed
As always Shani delivers a story that makes it impossible to put down. I've read all of Shani's books and this has to be in my top 5 best of all her books. Definitely one of my favorite paranormal authors and someone inspires me to grow and learn in my own writing. A great book that I highly recommend.
Read within a day. It was that good. Only disappointment is that it is the last in the series. The way the book ended I rushed to see if there was a book 2.
My disappointment was slightly eased to move onto the next in the new series. Having read Physic surveys series I have to say none of the books I've read by this author has been disappointing
Shani Struthers really knows how to mesmerise us with her beautiful and enchanting stories. Before opening this book,i was sceptic as i never liked anything "witch" .But man was i surprised..Loved the way Rohaise was portrayed and not for just looking the witch part. She had that air.Very much Bewitching as the writer wrote her...
A intriguing story of ghosts and brutal times past. Scotland’s history of witch hunts and warring factions. The castle and surrounding forest was the catalyst of the story where Rohaise resided. Wonderful blending of present to the historical past. Couldn’t put the book down.
I've read all of this author s books and this one I binged read in two days as couldn't put it down. The book is a horror but much more then that ,it's about love , betrayal, class, redemption and how women have and are treated throughout centuries
I've not read a lot of supernatural/paranormal fiction for a number of years but thoroughly enjoyed Rohaise. The tension built and built and it was absorbing from the word go. I really identified with Kenna and her fascination with the castle and couldn't stop reading. Recommended!
Definitely one of Shani's best, gripping and scary but thought provoking too. A real insight into horrific times for women. Well done for bringing it to light in such a thoughtful way. A gripping read.
I really love Shani Struthers, she knows how to spin a good yarn. This was an excellent story told well with all the elements to make the story flow. I wouldn't call this a horror story, it was a benign ghost story but don't let that stop you from enjoying the ride.
What a great story. All I can say is, Poor Rohaise. I think Kenna has found her place and it’s not back in London. I’d love to hear more about Drumlin Castle.
I loved this book like the rest of the series. Rohaise finally found peace because of Kenna. I'm sad for what happened between Kenna and Adam, and glad Kenna found love again.
I have only read 21% of this story and I have to keep reading, every chance I get! I love the way Shani has laid out the story, telling us the kind of back story to Rohaise and her lover. I am completely in awe of her talent!
