Phoenix Force is a series of action-adventure novels first published in 1982 by American Gold Eagle publishers. It is a spin-off of the Executioner series created by Don Pendleton.
Phoenix Force is one of two neutralization teams working for Stony Man, a top-secret anti-terrorist organization. As with The Executioner, the Phoenix Force novels have been written by a succession of authors under the pseudonym Gar Wilson. In 1991, Gold Eagle combined Phoenix Force with another Executioner spin-off series, Able Team, and launched the Stony Man book series, which is still being published as of 2005.
Another William Fieldhouse. Still good, but not up to the man's usual standards. The bad guys, this time around, KGB drug pushers using Turks to stir up trouble in Turkey by having the Kurds act up so that double agents and the Soviets can push heroin throughout Europe. The evil guys just are not that evil. Granted, they are bad, just not...EVIL. Don't get me wrong, it's still a fun book. Just not one of the tops.
Average entry, full of action like usual but the main plot is kind of awkward. The KGB is using a Turkish nobleman and a bunch of Kurds to grow and manufacture heroin, so when they sell it to the west and destabilize their enemies it will look like Russia had nothing to do with it. Then they can blame the Turks thus sowing more seeds of unrest or something I guess. Basically a lot of drug dealing terrorists die as the Force goes from one cell to the next trying to find the headquarters of the operation.
Its ok, if you are already familiar with this series and the mens adventure genre in general and enjoy them, then I can recommend this one. If not then maybe select another one, again this one is fairly average.
This installment of the Force shows us Calvin James and the 5 man fighting crew are in Turkey taking on what they do best with the help of a German counter terrorist Karl Hahn the Force demolishes so really bad guys and takes out a major drug supply in the process....Gar Wilson does it again and Phoenix might go down in Flames but their kicking butt and taking names along the way
Phoenix Force, an international anti-terrorist team, takes on the KGB and the Turkish underworld to stop their insidious plan to flood the West with heroin. Great writing full of entertaining 80’s action, gun play and explosions.
Never dull. This book introduces readers to Karl Hahn, a West German former GSG-9 agent who now works for his country's BND agency but was stuck on assignment in Turkey. Hahn was an interesting character and he fit in well with the team.
The villains in this book, of course, were being manipulated by the KGB, but they were still interesting. There were a couple moments when it bogged down but not for long.
