The quiet Kyoto streets erupt in savage violence as a Japanese industrialist and his bodyguards are slaughtered in a gangland style execution. All the evidence points to an American ninja, a onetime ally of Phoenix Force.
Katz and his commandos embark on a deadly mission to the Land of the Rising Sun for a final showdown with TRIO, the dreaded Asian terror syndicate. Feelings run high when the men of the Force face a life and death choice: clear their friend of involvement with TRIO - or kill him.
Phoenix Force is a series of action-adventure novels first published in 1982 by American Gold Eagle publishers. It is a spin-off of the Executioner series created by Don Pendleton.
Phoenix Force is one of two neutralization teams working for Stony Man, a top-secret anti-terrorist organization. As with The Executioner, the Phoenix Force novels have been written by a succession of authors under the pseudonym Gar Wilson. In 1991, Gold Eagle combined Phoenix Force with another Executioner spin-off series, Able Team, and launched the Stony Man book series, which is still being published as of 2005.
Corny, fun and a quick flick of pages and you have this book. Just like the others in the Bolan universe (especially later on in the series and expanded universe) this book is hard to take serious and that is the point !
When I read this book I was very much into ninjas and this was the sole reason why I grabbed it. I was never a fan of the Able Team or Phoenix Force series of books and preferred to read Bolan on his own. This however was one of the better ones in the non Bolan book range.
Before Michael Dudikoff there was another American ninja… called Trent. Karate chopping action with plenty of expositional dialogue. Classic paperback action.
Another great installment by William Fieldhouse. This time the force thinks their friend and part time member, the ninja John Trent, is acting as a hit man for the Yakuza. However they find out that its the opposite and that their old foes TRIO, a criminal organization combing multiple crime gangs with Asian heritage, is again planning a massive push. The force goes into action in Japan and tries to put a stop to TRIO for good.
Highly recommended, Fieldhouse is always a fun writer, never boring. He does a good job in keeping the action flowing.
A return of old enemies and an old friend in Ninja Blood as TRIO comes back. In this book, it shows an interesting side of things as the team must find out if former ally, John Trent, has turned sides when it looks like he's responsible for several murders.
The action in this one is interesting, especially for the martial arts fans, because who doesn't get tired of ninjas? Or a former sumo wrestler challenging Calvin? A great read.
