Silver Mountain #3

Faking it with Bossy

Rate this book
I wish I was my own boss. I wish I was my own boss. I wish I was my own boss.

Ash Wintergreen is the biggest jerk I know. I call him the mega Ash-hole.
When the financial distress of my family forces me to sell my little business and move back home to Silver Mountain, Vermont, I have to take a job working for the person I hate most in the universe. Kill. Me. Now.

I hate Ash so much that if he and I were the last man and woman on the planet... you better believe you could kiss goodbye to the human race. Every time he offends me, I fill my notebooks with sketches of him dying in the most satisfying ways-- like a piano falling on his head.

So when he gives me the awful task of being his fake-fiancé... and threatens my job if I don't help him? Well, I know exactly where he can shove that idea.

But then it hits me. Maybe I can negotiate. I'll be his little fake whatever, as long as he gives my land back. If only he would consider promoting me to being his partner in the company… Because I'm a boss, too.

I am so sick of being stuck under Ash.
Maybe if I could be on top sometimes, he would be a little more tolerable...

A small-town, enemies-to-lovers romantic comedy with a guaranteed HEA.
Sweet and steamy, over the top, billionaire boss hero, lots of laughs.

Seriously though, this was kinda a good rom-com book, buttttt.... it ended abruptly. It was like you were on a rollercoaster and screaming at the top of your lung, feeling excited, but then it suddenly stop in the middle and on the top at that. Ummmm..... Okay, that was a bad analogy. Too close to Final-Destination kinda thing.
description

It started from funny enemy-to-lovers kinda plot where h hated H's gut because he's rich, a bystander for her horrible bullied days in school, but also handsome and popular (opposite to her nerdiness). Years later, he bought her farm, thinking that it could help her since it was much-needed money for her adopted parents that got sick. Turns out, she had to sell it, and she was despising the guy who bought it. It then led her to work for him. Seeing him being spoilt playboy heir added more layer of hate for him. And then there's the whole debacle of condom-sauce-incidence (read this book. It was hilarious. I promised you) that turned out to be produced by her old farm. See, it was a good rom-com. The whole fun mess was the great recipe for a great rom-com (Gringott, 2022). It was then followed with also another beautiful mess, where h decided to help him at work and save his ass from making the company bankrupt in return for taking over her land again. But yet, fate threw them off balance by forcing MCs into a fake relationship. See beautiful messy start with good beautiful messy follow-up.

But why... oh why... it ended abruptly. I demanded closure. Like really. Seriously. I wanted a good closure for this book. I wanted a BANG! No, not just a BANG. I wanted a glorified BANG. I wanted to know what happened next. I wanted more than just them saying "I Love You". I wanted a great gesture. I wanted them to roll over the hill and fly across the field. Or something like that. Ok, I had to stop. Talking too much gibberish right now. But seriously!! I gave 3 stars because I was utterly ultimately superbly beyond disappointed.

OMG, this HAS to be one of the funniest Romantic Comedies I have EVER read!
-------
I awoke today to find out that there was a Silver Mountain book I hadn't read yet. I RAN to get it... Olivia Noble's books never disappoint.

 photo funny-quotes-about-reading-a-book.jpg

Ellie has had a tough life, being adopted and kind of nerdy led to her being bullied in school while growing up. Due to financial problems because of an illness in the family, she is forced to work for a man she considered one of the bullies.

Ash had had a string of gold-digging hussies after him for his wealth. This leads him to do something that .... well, you just have to read... because it's hilarious and kept me laughing the entire book.

The one-liners literally made me laugh out loud. The romance is sweet and spicy.

Now, I know I have said this before... and maybe it's because Olivia Noble's writing literally just gets better with each book... but this is HANDS DOWN the BEST romantic comedy she has written.

I think the Silver Mountain series really shows her skill in comedy. I always thought her books were spicy and made me laugh... but these books are HILARIOUS.

I would love to see a deeper dive into Ash and Elle's story... these have to be my favorite characters so far in this series.

WE WANT MORE!!!!

This could have been an OK romance, but I had a really hard time liking either Noelle or Ash. Because of that, it gets 2.5 stars from me, rounded down to 2 stars.

First off, I know that romances are usually unrealistic, but this one was just over the top. The romance between Noelle and Ash was totally unbelievable. She absolutely hated him, but still lusted after him? That just doesn't make sense. And they were both really mean to each other, constantly saying/doing really rude things -- even in public. I really never believed that they were in love. They were definitely in lust, but I couldn't see their relationship lasting. Relationships built on lust rarely do.

I found it hard to believe how incredibly mean they were to each other. It was like they got their jollies by torturing each other. That is NOT a healthy relationship.

Both of them were ridiculous in not using any kind of protection when they had sex. They were faking a relationship, and had no expectation that it would become real -- so how did they think they were ready to be parents together?

My rating system is below.
1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it.
2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws.
3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating.
4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one.
5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.

I did not realize that last month or earlier this year I had already DNFed the first book in the Silver Mountain series because of the ridiculous writing. This is what I get for downloading all the free books I find on Kindle. I have to say, though, the writing in this one was improved and the story was a tad bit more intersting... but not by much.

The humour is so juvenile that at one point I was wondering if the book was written by a kid (if it weren't for all the steamy scenes). The writing is abrupt and rushed, the author takes no time with characterizations, with build-up the scenes - we have the one-bed-trope and not only that, but he sleeps naked for whatever reason that makes no sense, he is doing it for the plot.

There's also fake dating - which I usually love as a trope, but it's so ridiculous and rushed that I could not really enjoy it. And the worst part it is... the first chapter is so so good and it sets up the MMC as a character who would need to do a lot of soul searching to get over what happened to him in the first chapter. Scratch that. He gets over it as soon as he can get into our FMC. *rolls eyes*

All in all, I should stop getting free kindle book without proper research.

Enemies to Lovers

I’ve only read one other book by Olivia Noble, and now have loved both of them. She writes characters with heart and insecurities of their own. The side characters add to their whole story.
Ash is CEO of his families business, but an incident with a former date, is causing the loss of respect for him and the company. Ellie works as Ash’s PA, but she has always hated him, because of the way that he treated her, when they were young.
Ash plots a plan to go to his dad, about the company situation. While there, he is informed that he may not be CEO of the company. Ash blurts out that he is in a serious relationship. He and Ellie decide to play along with what he has told his father. Ash’s family falls in love with Ellie, and the couple begin to develop feelings for each other. On their return trip home, they realize that they love each other, and finally obtain their HEA.

This was the second book from the Silver Mountain universe I read, even though it is the third in the series. The writing was better in this book than in Snowed in with Grumpy, I have decided to read the rest of the books in this universe and I have purchased them on my NOOK. I would recommend this book to people who need a short and easy to read book with well written spicy scenes. As for my ratings: personal impact and relatability were one stars, originality was two stars, writing style and spice were four stars, and readability and plot were five stars. Originality was rated fairly low because it is an enemies to lovers and fake dating with someone's boss. This is not the first I have seen or read of this, however, it was executed fairly well.

Good Enemies to Lovers Read

Faking it with Bossy, written by Olivia Noble, is a part of the Silver Mountain series. This story was an enjoyable read from beginning to end. The main characters are well developed and relatable, the storyline moves quickly and ends on a satisfying HEA note. This book has a strong, intelligent and authentic female main character, a misunderstood, emotionally struggling main male character, angst, humor, business relationships, family, some sweet, some spicy and love. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

Faking it with Bossy

What will a very hot and very rich boss do to avoid paying child support?
Ash has been accused of destroying a woman who by the way is trying to dupe him into making her pregnant by running to the bathroom and grabbing the discarded condom?
Only one thing that can ruin Ash is for her to scream abuse!
It almost cost him his business and family!
How can he save all of his life?
Trust his best friend to come to the rescue!
Funny and a happy for ever!

A quick, funny story that I enjoyed. Liked the two characters and how they interacted with each other.

Totally, needed to be longer though. I was completely fooled by my kindle, it said I was at 60% and so I thought I had loads of the story to get through… nope, all extracts from other books by the author. So felt the story ended way too quickly, and so feel a little cheated.

But all in all, it was a cute and funny story.

Read the first chapters as a preview in Snowed in with Grumpy. Didn’t like the hero. Typical first chapter with “waking up with a naked woman in bed” scene. Hero seems to be a manwhore.. not into this and any descriptives with him putting hot sauce in his used condoms to prevent his one night stands to take his sperm afterwards to get pregnant. Some might think this is funny, I don’t 🤮

This was a pretty funny enemies-to-lovers, fake-dating rom com, but it felt rushed. Like as soon as they realized they actually had feelings for each other, the book ended. Kinda anticlimactic. You’ll get book blue balls which, incidentally, is a theme in this book.
There is a HEA, though, with an epilogue.

Scheme

Noelle can't believe her boss Nash has demanded she go on this business trip. She hates him and he hates her. What if that's not true though and disguised their real feelings? Can his scheme work without breaking her heart?

I feel like I wanted to like this more, but the plot just felt so rushed to me. There were also several grammatical errors throughout the book that were hard to pass over. I feel like there is a lot of potential here, but this just wasn’t it.

Way to short. It felt rushed. Could have tied in her sister and his brother.

I liked the comedy in this rom-com but the romance developed far too quickly IMO considering the dislike had lasted decades.

This novella was ridiculous. The hot sauce? Sent me. That was out of pocket. Truly. And the transformation from hate to love was the most unrealistic one I’ve read to date.
