When one beach closes another case opens for this amateur island investigator
Life is improving for Patience following her return to Pony Island. She’s making headway as a concierge counselor, to cautious clients, in a town too small for discretion, and she’s even managing to ignore her ex-boyfriend’s shameless charm and flirtation. Mostly.
But she’s barely recovered from her recent run-in with a killer when body parts begin washing up on the beach, and her parents are named as suspects!
Now, Patience is diving deep into a personal investigation with the help of Sebastian, her current crush and federal agent. And her pesky ex-boyfriend, Adrian, is never far behind. He’s hoping to crack the case and gain favor in the upcoming mayoral election.
Can Patience find the answers she needs before the killer finds her? Or will she be the next to wash ashore?

It's rare that I like the second book more than the first book in a series. I loved the story line and all the excitement! The Patience Price series isn't considered a cozy mystery but it's not too far off. There's a great balance of mystery, romance, and humor. I would say this series is a few notches above a cozy. Julie Anne Lindsey is brilliant. You won't regret reading this one.
It’s not often I immediately grab for the next book in the series but the first one left me wanting to know what happened next. This one did not disappoint. Patience and her friends find themselves in another mystery and this one kept me guessing until the very end. This is equal parts intriguing and funny. I can’t wait for the next one!
Often the second book in a series isn't as great as the first...NOT this time. Really good plot, more in-depth info of the key characters and surprise ending. Looking forward to next book
I got this book, mainly due to the location of the writer's story, which is on the Eastern Shore, in Virginia. It turned out to be a good read, fast and interesting and the characters, especially the main charater was fun.
Murder Comes Ashore is the second book in the Patience Price Mystery Series and I was super excited to read this one. Patience once again finds herself embroiled in an island mystery when body parts start washing up and new bodies are showing up as well. This story was a great balance of mystery, humor, and romance.
Between the washed-up body parts, the bodies, getting herself injured in a few different ways, the visiting Birders filing a petition against her, and the whole town taking bets on who her boyfriend is, Patience has a lot going on. Not to mention her down-low, anywhere on the island counseling service. This was a story that, whenever I needed to put it down for something like work, I couldn't wait to pick it back up again.
Patience is getting closer to Sebastian, but Adrian is still nearby. There is something to be said when I immediately dive into the second book in a series. I am hooked and I can't believe there's just one more book in the series - I'm really going to miss this one. I am invested in the characters and setting of these books. As much as I like Sebastian, I am totally Team Adrian.
I received an ARC and also borrowed this book via Kindle Unlimited. My honest opinion is my own and is not influenced in any way.
A peaceful morning at the beach with a client turns gruesome when counselor Patience Price's client's daughter finds a human ear in the sand. Patience's first thought is that the mob boss out for revenge on her FBI Special Agent boyfriend is getting close to his current position on Pony Island. Sebastian, too, fears the same and tries to keep his distance from Patience in order to keep her safe. But, as more body parts are discovered on the shore, and Patience teams up with her ex-boyfriend, Adrian, to try and figure out who might be behind the crimes, it becomes increasingly clear that whoever is killing and cutting up victims is after Patience...and is getting closer.
Murder Comes Ashore is the second book in the Patience Price Counselor at Large trilogy, and it lives up to the level of excellence in the first book. An admirable balance of humor, suspense, romance, and mystery. Yet another great story from Julie Anne Lindsey!
Patience continues to make headway in her new profession. She is settling into small town life and working on making it fit in to her job. She is doing her best to avoid her ex and murder, but soon finds herself involved in another murder. This time it is her parents that are being looked into. She soon starts working with Sebastian and reluctantly with her ex to solve the case before it goes to far.
Patience is starting to settle back into Pony Island life. As the only counselor on the island, she has set up shop in an unconventional way. Her patient sessions are never in an office. During a particular session on the beach, the discovery of body parts washed ashore gets her embroiled in another murder mystery. This time it’s personal when the suspects are near and dear to Patience’s heart.
What ensues is a cozy-esque type murder mystery with a light romance angle. Not quite a cozy, Murder Comes Ashore has some decidedly traditional mystery elements. There are twists, turns, and red herrings throughout the book. The author calls on a bit of humor at times, and it’s perfectly inserted into the scenes. The book has romantic, moments, which I love in the books I read, as long as the romantic angle is appropriate.
The author's writing style is fluid, the pacing is perfect, and the story is so easy to read that when I reached the end, I couldn’t believe I was done already. I found myself engaged and completely captivated in the story from the very beginning. I really enjoyed Murder Comes Ashore and can't wait for the next book.
This is the second in the series. This has a new publisher and was revised. I was given an advanced readers’ copy and can’t wait for the next one to come out. It isn’t often that I can read a series in succession and I’m happy to do it with this one. I just regret I’ll have to wait a few weeks or months for the third one to come out. I find Patience interesting and unfortunately a killer magnet. She just asks too many questions for the some of the locals and tourists.
Pony Island is closed to swimming due to the shark infestation. The birders take up residence and make Patience miserable. It wouldn’t be this series without multiple trips to the hospital and multiple deaths.
I like the way the author has portrayed the islanders and their reconnection with Patience. Some like it and some not so much.
I am happy to say I enjoy the series. Keep them coming. I am not required to leave a positive review.
Since this was the second book in the series, I thought it might not be as good as the first. Will what I thought was a bit slow at first took off and exploded into action. While Patience was at the beach with a “client” and her baby, an ear was discovered among the treasures in the baby’s sand pail. Sadly that is just first of many body parts that start showing up in Pony Island. Who and where are they coming from? Of course Patience feels the need to get involved much to her FBI man’s dismay, especially since her ex-flame Adrian, who is also running for mayor, decides to help her. Not enough, add an influx of birders invading the island, a scientist studying the appearance of sharks near shore, a pathologist with fake credentials and her parents acting weirder than normal, what could go wrong? How about the scientist found dead in the water, his rig blown up and a local florist found dead. As if that wasn’t bad enough Patience’s parents are arrested because they had disagreements with both of the dead. Will Patience figure out the mystery or will she be the next dead body to wash ashore? I agreed to read and review the revised ebook sent by the author.
Patience Price is counseling a fellow Pony Islander at the beach when her client’s young daughter finds an ear in the sand. What follows involves birders, sharks, explosions, a frame up, and Patience’s sexy boyfriend, as well as her first love turned friend. The author has built on the community she created in the first in this series and added detail to both the people and the landscape. And she has added groups of birders, who both complicate her life and move the plot along. There is both drama and humor, and several forms of indulgence. All in all, a delightful read!
On this little island Patience Price is trying to establish herself as a counselor at large. Things heat up quickly when her parents are the prime suspects in a murder case. Plus, someone begins sending her threats and the island is filled with birders hoping to see new birds for their "list". She's attracted the attention of two handsome men, lots of birders and one killer. Check this one out to see if Patience can stand the heat!
Murder Comes Ashore is Book 2 in the Patience Price Mystery by Julie Anne Lindsey. Book 2 was just as good as Book 1. Patience is flourishing as a counselor and life is great. Unfortunately, body parts begin washing up on the beach and Patient's parents are suspects. This mystery is fast paced and very well written. I love the characters and am already sad that book 3 will be the last in the series. I received an arc for free and am leaving my review voluntarily.
Patience Price does it again! She finds herself embroiled in another murder mystery. Ms. Julie Anne Lindsey keeps thrilling with her enthralling writing. Pony Island has so many interesting characters that are bound to keep your attention. The triangle between Patience, Adrian, and Sebastian had me keep switching sides for who should win Patience's heart. If you want to experience a roller coaster of a ride, please read Ms. Lindsey 's book.
Team Adrian or Team Sebastian?!? The second installment of the Patience Price series does not disappoint. The author does a wonderful job of mixing mystery and romance in a fun, quirky island community. Who doesn't enjoy a good love triangle?!?? I am anxious to read the final book to see who Patience finally ends up with.
I am falling more in love with this series with each book. The way that Patience meets & counsels her patients is funny & charming. And the storyline of how you find your way back into your hometown is lovely.
I was surprised at who the killer was as he/she didn't even show up on my radar - which is always fun!
Looking for something to tide you over between Stephanie Plum novels? Meet Patience Price. Quirky, unlucky when it comes to stumbling over bodies...or parts of bodies, and torn between two exceptionally hot men. She attracts killers like Tasty Cream entices her. A fun series that will brighten your day!
While trying to find her rhythm on Chincoteague as a counselor, Patience once again gets caught up investigating some mysterious happenings. This book had something for everyone: Adrian/Sebastian love triangle, humorous shenanigans, rescuing a random chopped off doinker from a seagull, and off course murder. What’s not to love? Looking forward to the next one!
i liked almost all of this. it's mostly a light fun read, which is great! a light fun read is what I was looking for... it's just that i'm sort over plucky "girl detectives" who are not actual detectives at all but who nonetheless think they know better than highly skilled/highly trained professionals?
This series is so much fun and I love how Lindsey doesn't dumb down the writing. It is quick, clever, and funny. My heart was pounding at the end and I could hardly wait to see if Patience picked Adrian or Sebastian.
Wow no one does mystery like Julie Anne Lindsay!! I adore Patience and Pony Island. This book made me laugh, cry, hold my breath, cheer and read until the wee hours! I absolutely loved this book and cheered for Patience the whole way! I'm team Sebastian!!
Enjoyable read that I jumped into immediately following book one in this series. This book had some humorous running gags and some suspenseful moments. I love Pony Island and Patience Price! Looking forward to book three.
OMG, this book was such an addictive read that once I started I could not put it down. It moves along at a pace which makes for an amazing read and one that you will loose yourself in. The characters are amazing and you feel as though you know them personally and no matter what happens you will love them. This book has to be read, you will not be sorry that you did.
