Bill Myers was born into a Christian home, and although as a child he became bored with Christianity, he decided at the University of Washington quote, to "make God my boss." Ironically, at the University his worst subject was writing. He claims to have prayed, and said that he would be able to do anything for God, except write. Even so, he has become a prominent Christian writer, and has a large amount of successful books and films to his credit.

Wonderful second book for these characters. Fun story: I emailed Bill Myers through his website asking if there would be a third. He replied!!! Unfortunately it was with not-so-great news. So, I guess this is more like an almost, or halfway fun story.

When you want a great suspense thriller that couple a bit of the spiritual warfare, you would immediately think of Frank Peretti, but now there are quite a few authors that have picked up the proverbial baton as it were on the Christian side of things and run with it. Bill Myers is one such incredibly talented author who picks up with the sequel of The Voice with Angel of Wrath. It delivers just what is promises and you don't have to read The Voice to gain an appreciation for this one.

The trio that we met in the first novel, Special Ops Agent Charlie Madison, Lisa Harmon, an ex FBI agent and Jazmin, his thirteen-year-old niece find themselves dragged into an unexplained series of murders involving the pastor of the local church and Lisa's brother, Thomas and his family. As each member of the body of the church family winds up dead with no witnesses other than a cryptic calling card outlining their religious crimes from adulterer, gossip, murderers and more. The body count is adding up faster than the local police can attempt to find clues. The only ties seem to be with an ex military agent known only as Kristof, who has garnered the worship of the high school teens to take part in a Satanic worship to call forth an enemy from the spiritual realm that will do their bidding.

Believing they are ushering in the end time events culminating with the unholy alliance of Jesus Christ and Satan, they have begun their own brand of religious cleansing of the church who has forgotten their first love and instead it about its own glory in building the world's largest megachurch. No longer preaching the gospel message as it might offend newcomers and the younger generation, these members of the church have found that sin is quite profitable until the light is shined upon it, including its own head the church Lisa's brother. They have little time to locate the killer and try to find a way to send back the demon summoned from hell before more wind up dead. It will take a battle of their backgrounds but mostly faith to fight those that want them all dead.

Angel of Wrath is the sequel to The Voice from Bill Myers and I absolutely love how this one played out throughout the book. You weren't sure if it was all demonically driven or if there was another player working in the background and it seems as if it may not be over. This novel is not overly religious, but it does bring faith into the picture against the demons they have summoned to do their bidding and at some point transports some of our characters into the very pit of what could be called hell as we meet with legion. What I love about this novel is that it showcases the danger of dealing with the occult and while we might believe we have power over evil, it is all a facade and what is often summoned is more than what people might believe. It simply opens a doorway into the spiritual realm that allows evil an opportunity to gain a foothold. But the power of good and faith is used to show just how powerful knowing Jesus can be when the battle goes beyond what they thought. Forgiveness, redemption and love are the key themes to this novel. I did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review and the opinions presented here are strictly my own honest ones. I would give this novel a 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Former FBI Agent Lisa Harmon returns home at the request of her brother, Thomas, the preacher at the mega church founded by their father—a father she despises because he sexually abused her when she was a little girl. Still, Lisa swallows her hate and her dread of returning home so she can help her brother get to the bottom of the strange deaths occurring among his parishioners. Whoever’s killing sinners has now put Lisa and her father on their list, and though Lisa hates her father, she might have to fight to keep him alive.

When things turn bizarre, Lisa calls Special Ops Agent Charlie Madison for help, even though she’s reluctant to call him because of his feelings for her. Still, he’s a good man to have around when tracking an elusive killer who thinks he’s carrying out God’s orders.

At the same time, Charlie’s niece, Jaz, gets involved with a group of teenagers who perform satanic rituals in an out-of-the-way section of L.A. The teens accidentally unleash a terrifying entity, similar to the Mothman of Point Pleasant, West Virginia, that digs into people’s mind and convicts them of their guilt-ridden pasts.

The creature and killer soon combine forces, and no one is safe from their wrath. It’s up to Lisa, Charlie, and his deaf niece to fight evils from this world and beyond.

I couldn’t really warm up to Lisa in this novel, mainly because she spends a lot of time arguing with everyone, and it kept getting on my nerves. Also, something about Charlie makes him unrealistic as a Special Forces soldier. Maybe it’s his underlying lack of confidence—something about his Special Forces personality is missing, but I can’t pinpoint it because it’s mostly just a feeling that I have. However, Jaz, with her quirky personality, is an absolute delight to read, and she helped me overlook the flaws in the other characters and enjoy this clever plot.

Christian horror sounds like an oxymoron, but it’s my favorite kind of encouraging read. I just wish there were more authors like Bill Myers, who writes with non-preachy, spellbinding, and oftentimes creepy intrigue. Angel of Wrath will send chills down your spine while, at the same time, reminding you that, with God, you’ll never stand alone against evil.

If you’re a fan of Christian horror author Frank Peretti, which I am, you’ll also like Bill Meyers’s Angel of Wrath. Mr. Meyer brings his readers a fast-paced, intelligent, and sinister story in his latest novel. If you’re a Christian looking for edgy, moralistic fare in your inspirational choices, then Angel of Wrath is the book for you.

I'm not much of a suspense fan but I did have trouble putting this story down. It was nice and edgy and dealt with realistic topics relating to sinful behavior not often found in Christian fiction. Personally, I was amazed at how much abuse that one poor man could take. The special ops training helped, but still... And the forgiveness theme played a big role in this book, hence the reason I enjoyed it so much. I found it fascinating how twisted the theology of the villian was, and yet at the same time he was incredibly gifted when it came to killing people in freakish ways. This story also shows that messing around with evil is always risky and you are never safe "playing with fire." The power of prayer and worship is also highlighted in this book. Angel of Wrath shows how worship helps keep darkness at bay and reveals that no secret sin is truly "secret". This was a great story with great message.

I am always pleased to find a good book that deals with an important often overlooked subject - in "Angel of Wrath" Bill Myers does an excellent job of delving into spiritual warfare. It is reminiscent of Frank Peretti's "This Present Darkness" and Shaunti Feldhahn's "The Veritas Project". This is book #2 but can stand alone (although I do plan on going back and reading the first one "The Voice") and it is based on those characters, with many returning. New characters are introduced and enrich the story. One of the things I loved most was when Jazmin describes how she feels when evil is near, and another lady describes how it feels to her - they feel it differently, but it accomplishes the same thing - makes them aware that something is wrong and they need to do something about it. The resolution in this book is fantastic, but the journey getting there is enough to keep you on the edge of your seat.

I'm actually unsure how to rate Angel of Wrath. I gave it five stars because it was a well-crafted page-turner that packed a serious emotional punch and dealt with real issues (devil worship, narcissism, abortion, etc.) in a very tasteful, yet realistic, way. However, I must issue one caution. I know I usually warn about graphic violence, profanity, sexual references, and the like in my reviews, but this is a warning of a different nature: Two different scenes involve characters having flashbacks of screw-ups from their pasts, which hit me a little too hard, because I've been constantly plagued by such attacks, usually from my own mind, ever since I was little. They've completely ruined what should have been happy times, even in recent years; so, if you have that problem, you might want to think twice about reading Angel of Wrath. If you don't, though, this is definitely worth reading.

An engaging Christian suspense thriller in which teens unwittingly release a great evil on the world through dabbling with Satanic rites. There's lots of action that hardly lets up and likable characters, my favorite being Charlie, a burned out ex-special ops. I loved the themes about the nature of evil, the poison of sin, and the importance of repentance and faith. What I didn't care for was the feeling that it was written hastily. Also there was a lack of depth in many of the characters and a typical stereotyping of what a worldly church looks like -- makes my church seem perfect by comparison, which I know isn't true. I prefer a portrayal of a more subtle worldliness because it isn't always so blatant and extreme (at least not at first).

It was okay as a quick read as it is very short and you can easily finish it in a day. Its well written but honestly I just bought it because it is really hard to get books here and its one of the few that caught my eye. Normally I don't read this genre but I enjoyed it. I think the author has a very good voice and his plot kept me turning pages. I'm glad I bought it. I would recommend it to friends that are trying out different genres of books.

story line was unbelievable, not necessarily the "mothman"appearance, it's just how they start to get involved, how things develop, fact a 13 year old child is involved. the characters were so so at best, the most developed was the child in the book.

also had some issues with how the author developed the Christian beliefs and what some of those beliefs are.

for the right person it's probably an awesome read, for those that aren't deep seated Christians will struggle with it.

Bill Myers never disappoints. He amazes me over and over. When my kids were little, I read his "My life as a ......." books to them all the time. It was my excuse to read them! But the boys liked them too. LOVED this book.

While reading this book, it was not only fast pace, but it was hair-rising. I read this book a few years ago and I remember i could NOT put the book down. If you love Frank Peretti's work and Ted Decker's, you'll love this one

Worship as a tool of Spiritual Warfare! I really enjoyed this second book in the series. I kind of got frustrated a little more than half way through. The story seemed to drag on and on and then it was over. Another awesome story from Bill Myers. Check it out!
