He came in the dark of night to tear my family apart.
Somehow I escaped the storm of teeth and claws, only to find myself alone in a world where young women like me get eaten alive. Literally and Figuratively.
With blades on my hips and my wolf at my side, I'm no longer that same little girl, scared and alone in the woods. Now, I'm just as big and bad as he is, and I'm out for blood.
But as much as I'd like to be a lone wolf, the men of Grimm City keep luring me in. There's Peter, my first love, a boy who became Neverland's fiercest crime boss. Then there's Robin Hood, the scarred, ruthless rogue with a boyish grin.
And finally him, the stranger at my doorstep who wants revenge as much as I do. As they battle over a heart that can't allow itself to love, I have my own war to win.
I was torn about this book. There were parts that I loved, but the overall pacing of the story and plot development just didn't jive for me. We get told through snippets that Red and Woody have been making it on their own for several years as assassins. Red is closed off and emotionally unavailable during this time. What this story lacks is a catalyst to kick off the events that take place in the story. This goes along with generally vague world building and back stories for the characters. I don't feel like I really understand how they got to where they are. There are also some sloppy plotting errors. Despite my issues with the plot and character development, though, I was engaged while reading. I'll probably give the next one a shot, but I hope it's more carefully plotted.

A very good book. I really enjoy the darker retelling of fairy tales I grew up with. This book goes a step further and and adds in a number of other classic characters and incorporates them into the world of Grimm City.
A young girl fleeing an attack. Loses her family, but gains an ally, purpose, skills and a fearsome reputation as an assassin. She will have her revenge, no matter what she has to do or hearts she has to break. Including her childhood friend Peter Pan now grown up, the daring and protective outlaw Robin Hood or a Gambit who shares an enemy with her.
A great dark fairytale/gangster story. It takes bad guys and girls to bring down the worst of Grimm City. I really hope the boys gave more time in the second book as they all have great stories to tell as well as Red doing what Red does.
Red is one tough chick and is set on her revenge for her family. She gets a little help from her men, Peter, Robin, and Remy, the true question is if she can give any of them her heart. This is such a unique take on “Grimm” stories and I loved it! The world building was perfection, and the character development was awesome. The way the author combines the different worlds into one story is spectacular. This is definitely a must read.
Really enjoyable adventure set amongst familiar stories from legend and childhood. The characters are well rounded and take just enough from the stories to link them but with enough development to make them interesting new characters. I look forward to reading more set in this world.
Brilliantly told dark n dirty versión of fairytales
Is dark, it's dirty and it's a very cleverly grown up view of many much beloved fairy tales all tied up in a beautifully crafted and described world. Rich with imagination, I absolutely loved reading about Red and her men....
I loved Red’s Revenge! It starts off with a bang and I couldn’t put it down! I only wish it was a full series. Ava Hall did a truly fantastic job with her world building. Truly an amazing book!
This was a fun, fairly quick read. I really enjoyed the darker spin on classic fairytales and the characters were great. Their banter was one of my favorite things.
This is a wonderful twist on Red Riding Hood. I enjoyed the different the being brought in. Her quest for vengeance and the men she collected along the way. I really look forward to her future adventures with her Lost Men?? Merry Boys??
