I really appreciate these studies. the sections are manageable without sacrificing depth, and Brownback regularly has readers flipping to passages all over Scripture to provide greater context.

I was thoroughly enjoying this study guide, but it was unfortunate to find conjecture not supported in the Scripture during the reading for James 5. Brownback repeatedly asserts verses 1-6 are written to unbelievers, when there is nothing in the text that supports that idea. This passage is simply addressed to the rich, who could be saved or unsaved. It may inconsequential in this specific instance, but it's a slippery slope to start reading into the text of the Bible. This makes up the bulk of Week 9 of the study and this soured my experience with it.

Also for the love of God, literally, can Christian publishers and authors capitalize pronouns for God and Jesus?

I was excited to receive another Flourish Bible Study book by Lydia Brownback. This series is one of my favorite Bible studies because it digs deep, is detailed, and so enjoyable and edifying.

I love how James: Walking in Wisdom helps you examine how he trusted God through his struggles verse-by-verse. It is encouraging and inspiring to be guided through this Bible book and studying how Jesus’s half-brother persevered and thrived and left an example for us to follow.

Just like with the other 10-week studies, it works well for either group or individual study. The guidance helps me gain a deeper understanding of God’s Word and how I can apply what I’ve learned in my daily walk.

As of right now, there are 10 books in this series and look forward to acquiring the entire set. (I currently have four.) I wish the author would continue through all books of the Bible! I’d get them all! Both the format and the information I’ve gleaned are so helpful and rewarding.

This study is for any believer looking to grow in their understanding of, appreciation for, and practical application of James. It’s designed to be done in either an individual or group setting; I’m did it as an individual study but I think it offers a structure that would work even better for group discussion and learning.

I appreciate that the daily sections are small and allow for time to sit and soak within each passage. I also really love the multiple times the author has emphasized that when a passage of Scripture seems confusing we must look to other parts of Scripture to understand it - we must let Scripture interpret Scripture!

As followers of Jesus Christ, all Christians should strive to be lifelong learners and through the Word, God has given everything we need for life and godliness (1 Peter 1:3) . I am thankful that He has also equipped faithful followers of His to be teachers to us as the Holy Spirit illuminates and helps us understand His Word.

Another rich study by Lydia Brownback. This from the book of James and once again she draws out deeper meaning and uses scripture to explain the scripture. Also each of the 10 chapters contains personal reflections or considerations. I love that she provides her resources for further study!
