Chase and Angel have two of the three artifacts they need to access the ancient alien Archive--humanity’s only hope of defeating the Sunkillers.
But getting that third one is going to be near impossible.
Because their nemesis, the power-hungry Hart-Klein Consolidated, already has the third key to the Archive…and they won’t be giving it up without a fight.
Who can Chase and the rest of the crew of the Tamar turn to for help when their own government thinks they’re outlaws and they have a price on their heads?
The last person they ever thought they would ask…and if she doesn’t help, humanity won't have much of a future.
Experience the third entry in the Sunkiller series from Dragon Award nominees JN Chaney and Rick Partlow. If you're a fan of gritty military science fiction, epic quests, and ancient civilizations, then you'll love Sunkiller: Odyssey.
This was a fabulous conclusion to the series. Over the 3 books I really did love spending time with everyone. I actually got choked up by the deaths of a couple of characters. As endings go, this tied up most (if not all) the loose ends while still leaving things open for more books - or a follow-up series. And best part - Mark Boyett as the narrator. He just got it all right, which is rare for a narrator. Now I want to listen to all his other stuff.
It wasn't a bad story premise but i do not see myself picking this series back up or recommending it to anyone. I'm not sure what it was about the series, but it just did not work for me.
The biggest issue i had with the series was the whole Hart-Klein ruthless corporation nonsense. Not only was it a know secret by the heroes that Hart-Klein outright murdered the competition, but the various government agencies simply turned a blind eye to it. One government agency sure, two ok its a stretch, but ALL Earth government ignore this companies brutal tactics really?
The authors also took a perverse approach to describing fake weapons based on real one, how they looked and functioned. They might as well been writing the Dear Johnny in Guns and Ammo weekly, with how saucy some of these passages got.
Its becoming glaringly obvious that i do not like military fiction, even the sci-fi variety. Maybe this is why this series did not work for me.
How is it possible for a small crew of broke ex military to save mankind, and any other intelligent life in the neighborhood? No one gives them an ice cubes chance in hell. In fact selfish corporations and inimical governments want them to fail so they can grab the ten thousand year old AI's power and knowledge for themselves. No one else but the beleaguered crew understand the danger in the actions of everyone arrayed against st them. Wintess the indescribable power of the Sunkiller machine. Witness also the failure of mankind's feeble current technology against the machines. The crew of the privateer Tamar is our only hope. We're so screwed!
The search for the Gatekeeper and Archive continues
After obtaining the 1st 2 artifacts, the hunt for the third, the Gatekeeper, is on. However, when Chase and company get to its location, they find it is moving! Someone has got to it first, but so far no-one has activated it.... Who has it? The Union? The Alliance?, HKC? How will they get it and what happens next? No real surprises, but still a fun tale. Could be a conclusion, but almost certainly is not.... Plenty of action, underlying romance and fantastical situations...
Enjoyed that this story ended in a closed fashion yet still open for more. I will miss these characters as felt over the story arc that I got to know them. Story was plausible and just enough badness happened to the good guys. I’m a sucker for an ending that is not miserable. Highly recommend this series to anyone of military sci fi bent in reading.
A great addition to the series! We find our heroes thrown into a massive intergalactic conflict but the stakes are all worlds! Will they find the third guardian? The Archive? With the evil H-K take them all? Truly non-stop action, a great series so far!
This has everything you need in a book. Excellent action and good characters. Maybe a touch predictable in the plot, but still a great series. Looking forward to the next one.
I love the story, the author's voice and the characters in this yarn. The whole series has been great fun. If you're looking to find a world like those RH created, you'll appreciate this one.
Well another great storyline with plenty of blood and guts lol just the way I like my books. Is this the end of is there more hopefully there is. Well worth 5 stars
I got hooked on the Sunkiller series with the first book. This is a wild ride! If you like lots of action, a great plot and excellent characters, then this series is for you!
If someone has read three in a series and is looking for the fourth, it can only mean that that person has enjoyd the books, he likes the story. In a teaser mode, how does one strip the hydrogen atoms from in front of a Brussard ram jet?
The 1st 3 books of the Sunkiller series are excellent. The story line is interesting and the action is full a head top speed with no let-up. As usual with Chaney and Partlow the characters are fully believable with all their talents and foibles.
Ok, my Kindle must be fed more of this amazing series. Terrific plot, characters and series. Start with the first book and read in order. Good job JN & Rick!
As far as escalations go, neutronium is right up there with antimatter… a fun story that’s moving along nicely. I’m just curious how they escalate from the neutronium.
