Been waiting all my life to read and follow a really good book on financial advice by an Indian author who gives practical advice and tips based on relatable as well as something basic which we can actually see and experience.

Finally I got the book in my hands and took days to digest it thoroughly. And I am a bit wiser on investments and what I can or shouldn't do about my money hereafter.

The writing is really easy to follow. I say get this book when you're still in school and get some basic ideas about handling your own money. No, it's not difficult to understand. There are less of complicated terms except for some basic ones. I find this really helpful and I do feel it will help someone more when it comes to reading such books and get the most out of it.

Kudos to the author and the team. No words wasted.

The presentation is neat which I feel will make the reader feel more enjoyable with the reading experience. Some parts in each chapter are explained well with points and tables/diagrams which are basic to understand the parts explained.

The highlight of the book would be the comparison of the mistakes we usually make when it comes to money, savings and investments versus what can be done differently that would benefit us the most.

Totally worth the read. Keeping this book with me at all times!

Thank you Writers Melon, author and Jaico Books for the copy.

The author has compiled 30 most common financial mistakes that we make in our quest to create wealth in this book. The extremely catchy title and attractive cover are compelling enough to grab this book.

Undoubtedly money management is quite difficult and to err is human, but by knowing from the experiences shared in this book, we can eradicate or reduce the number of mistakes we make, or most importantly, how to correct our FOOPS moments!

The book includes certain actions one might take while investing their money and the pros and cons associated with these actions. He talks about the Awakening and the Action that we're supposed to take instead.

In easy-to-follow writing, the author has tried his best to make it as friendly as possible by discussion of understandable situations and certainly a lot of facts and figures.

Discussing what true financial freedom means and how to curb the errors that we might do otherwise, this one is quite an informational and useful book in my opinion.

As a novice in the concept of investment and management of money, I can say that this book is great to begin with and it will act as a guide that we can read and reread.

Foops! 30 common financial mistakes by Manoj Arora is a valuable book with Information and instructions to lead a financially sound life. This book is a must for people those who feel to have less financial burden as well as good value for their money. All the chapters in this book deal with the common mistakes committed by many mostly with lesser knowledge of handling money and no background of banking and investments.

Many readers can eventually relate with the mistakes and issues dealt in this book. This book is an eye opener for whole set of people who are unhappy with the way their financial status is. This book is a guiding light with awakening and action in every chapter. Moreover the author has provided his contact details for personal interaction. He also invites to join the ELITE group to come up with solutions for the financial problems.

Most familiar financial decisions are simply treated in a professional way and the author throws light in the most pre dominant mistakes like auto renewal of FD, settling housing loans, overlooking the vital role of Expense Management are to mention a major few. Many of the concepts are being explained by the author with the support of graphs.

Regarding the investments, the Author in the chapter 25, CATEGORISING ASSET CLASSES AS GOOD AND BAD, I quote, “We truly want to understand you, your existing portfolio, future needs, risk- taking capacity, attitude to risk, current portfolio, liquidity, etc.. before we conclude what is the “best” investment “for You” are the golden words which every reader should consider ae well as speak up with their financial consultants.

If the readers happen to follow his instructions and implement it basing on their personal finance is sure to bring a grand ray of hope in their financial future.

The common mistake mentioned in the book are often unknowingly committed by the common man. A professional assistant can enlighten the victim by extending a helping hand and this is done in the form a book.

In the glossary, 49 common terms are given meanings and it gently supports to get into the flow of the book easily without searching outside the book.

The author though brings forth both the problem and the solution, he still suggests to fix their own issues in the light of this but not as it is. He thoroughly insists for a personal approach to the personal finance, but not a general or common formula for all.

The author needs a huge appreciation for bringing up financial issues for the benefit of the readers and for the betterment of the society.

Foops as the name suggest is exactly how you feel while saying it, Oops moments in the financial world. Throughout the book, the author mentions and explains thirty Foops moments for us. They are well explained and focus on the common mistakes that we encounter ourselves or someone else doing while deciding about investment and financial stability. There were common and most of us might simply mark it as not as a mistake if not for the deliberate explanation of the author financially and mathematically, with proofs.

The writing style of the author is simple and easy to understand. Even while using technical jargon, the author explains it in detail. Apart from that, there is a glossary at the back of the book which I referred to whenever I got confused. There are plenty of simple examples to make us understand the purpose of the suggestion by the author. I was excited to read many of my concerns regarding investment tackled and provided with the solution in this book. I will pick up the other book of the author too which explains stocks and investment in further detail.

Overall, this is a very informative book. It is not something you can just read and understand. It is something you need to consult from time to time and whenever you are confused about investments and savings. The pieces of advice here are sound and practical with rational thoughts backing it up. If you are ready to commit to the financial independence you crave, it is time you begin conscious investing.

I will give this book 4 out of 5 stars. This is because as the book claims, this book deals with basic mistakes related to the world of finance that we do on regular basis. However, if you are looking for investment advice, and how to build your portfolio, I would recommend reading some other books before coming to this one. This is highly recommended for people who have begun their investment and financial journey but are not sure if they are doing it right or not. this will give your efforts a new perspective and understanding of your portfolio.

The author Manoj Arora works as a financial advisor with many years of experience in stock investment. In Foops, he shares the other side of many strategies and ideas used in the stock market, clearing the illusion and misconception people have regarding creating wealth through equity investment, throwing some ouch moments, and enlightening about common financial mistakes.

The book could be an informative read for readers who has a fair understanding of the stock market, have earned, and also burned their fingers. Manoj Arora offers riveting insight through examples to explain where you might have gone wrong with your strategies and how you could refrain from repeating them.

A newbie like me would feel a little lost due to little to no knowledge about many things discussed in the book. I didn't read the book from page to page, rather in between. I read those chapters first about which I already have some prior grasp, like SIP and Index Fund. And then the rest of them. The book made me realize my poor grip on tenth standard math, which could come in handy to do some simple calculations to assess various investment opportunities. I have started working on it. The chapter on compounding was also a superb read.

Investment is a kind of field where you can’t learn without committing blunders. It is difficult to learn from others' mistakes. The book, in general, discusses common mistakes committed during investment that might be a road breaker for you in wealth creation. Foop! could be the book for people who have already invested and are searching for a foothold. Not really for people like me who have made up the mind to climb but don't know how to begin.

Being from a background where finance is a completely alien language & one day in a desperate attempt to bring my life and finance back on track I brought Intelligent Investor but that went to waste because I did not understand well with technical and financial jargon. I recently came across this book, where the author, Manoj Arora talks about the 30 most common financial mistakes he did, and how we can learn from him and avoid doing the same.

The book is written in a beginner-friendly language so anyone can pick this book up and impart the knowledge and wisdom from this book.

The book is explained with vivid and simple explanations, so if you are someone like me, to whom finance and Maths is an alien language, then you can surely pick this book up. The author has used simple language to explain all the foops in this book. (Foops is the finance blunder, author as well as most people commit, and how we can learn from it and avoid making the same mistakes)

I will recommend this book to anyone and everyone who is stepping into the world of finance and want to invest money, this book could be their guide on where and how to avoid mistakes.

Highly Recommended

To being a complete alien to finance, the book surely clarified a lot that was going on in my mind. The book gives you a thorough knowledge of what is each mistake, how is it done? A lot of moments that would make you think ‘omg’, but a lot more that would help you to avoid making one.
The author lists down 30 mistakes that are committed commonly. The book is structured in a way that even someone who is new to the term finance can understand. So it makes things simple and precise. Though it does not compromise on the quality of the language. There are no technical jargons concerning finance but will definitely make you understand whatever mistake is being discussed.

The book will help you from not letting you make mistakes which you are about to and make you aware of mistakes which you have already done and help you take actions to correct it.

Mistakes which found my interest:

Under estimating the power of compounding.
Getting swayed by the hype of NFOs and IPOs.
Auto renewing fixed deposits
Not prioritizing portfolio tracking.
The glossary also helps you with major terms which can aid in making you understand the common terms used.

Foops, a volume which mark our understanding huge about money in a very humble way and this volume has, in a very stunning method, assisted me into my present individual economic plan and argument to parts that I will make an error. This book is distributed into 30 parts. Each chapter conferences about dissimilar features of preparation and the related errors usually ended by general public. I am teen and in this stage we essential to know about finance and currency, this book make our present better and make our future safe as well in the terms of financial management. For me, I didn’t find any foops moment because I haven’t taken any major step in the field of finance currently in my life. The writing style, language and the way in which author explains us the terms and topics is incredible, he uses simple path and proofs to make our mind absorb the knowledge in a very short period of time, I understood those chapters through a very easy way.

The book is a simple read and can be finished rather quickly. The author makes sure that even a beginner can understand financial jargons while maintaining simplicity. However I found the book to be too contradictory on many points for ex. In one chapter the author mentions that SIP is to be avoided for wealth creation while in later chapter he highly advocates investing in SIP. He bashes index funds but recommends investing in actively managed funds justifying high expense ratio due to their “supposed” high average returns compared to index funds, however that has not been the case for some time.

Some chapters are rather interesting and I do recommend to give it a try to remove some your investing biases.

I am an avid reader of personal finance books and bought this one after looking at all the reviews but I dont like this book at all. Almost every chapter is titled opposite of general consensus to draw attention but when you read the explanations the chapters don’t make sense at all.
Chapter on index investing starts with why index funds are not an investment. As per general definition of any investment, Index funds are investment vehicles. It is mentioned multiple times in this chapter that active funds beat index investing without any appendix or real data behind it.
There are multiple chapters and statements in the book that are really hard to digest. I personally do not recommend this book. A lesson for me not to buy just by looking at the ratings & reviews.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

This book is full of financial wisdom and gradually uncovers the mistakes we all need to avoid. Each chapter is an eye-opener and teaches something new that can help boost our financial growth.
Despite the high level of financial literacy and even with the best intentions, we are prone to making many common mistakes while planning our wealth. It is where this book can prove to be a game-changer and help us to rectify these mistakes and prepare for a financially secure future. I give the book a rating of 4.5/5.
