The Christmas Cocktail Campervan – bringing love, laughter and friendship from coast to coast . . .
The gorgeously romantic new novel in the ‘Cocktail Campervan series’ – next stop: mince pies and kisses under the mistletoe!
Lucy is back cooking up a storm on the Northumberland coast with her pizza van business, and the charismatic Jack is shaking things up with his cocktail campervan, Ruby. As winter sets in, will things thaw between these rivals-to-lovers? Or will they be meeting under the mistletoe…
Family, friends, food, a glass of bubbly and, of course, a good book make me smile. I love writing emotional stories about love, loss, betrayal, and family, that explore how complex and yet beautiful love can be. I also like to write romantic comedy, letting the characters have a bit of flirty fun too! I believe in following your dreams and working hard towards them, which led me to Harper Impulse (Harper Collins) and a publishing deal (woop!) after many years of writing. Stunning Northumberland is my home – sandy beaches, castles and gorgeous countryside that have inspired my writing.
This is a Christmas Chick Lit/Romance, and this is the second book in the Cozy Campervan series. I have not read the first book in this series, but I think you can read this book as a standalone without any problems. I am planning to go back and read the first book in this series. I fell in love with all the characters in this book. I loved the campervan food truck idea that was going on in this book. The ending was so great, and I felt you could really feel what the characters were feeling. I really enjoyed this read, but it did take me awhile to get into this book. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (One More Chapter) or author (Caroline Roberts) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.
This was almost a DNF for me. The first part of it was so slow and honestly a little annoying. The friend being mad because she’s dating a guy years after they had a spat. The constant worry that the guy is still a player and might leave her. The 2nd half got a little better but I just couldn’t get into this one.
🌀Synopsis Lucy and Jack are still in their learning phase of the relationship. It’s all new and their navigating it. It’s also a time when Lucy is working really hard to build her business. When her ex shows up at an event Lucy is thrown. Then he shows up at another and he keeps telling her they should get back together. Lucy has her own insecurities about her relationship with Jack but she doesn’t want to be with her ex. Unfortunately, things go sideways- in more way than one. Jack sees her talking to her ex and gets defensive. Then, on the way to an event, he slides off the road. Nothing like a near death experience to help you figure out what you really want though.
This sweet Christmas book was a good read but, it didn’t blow me away. I’ve read a few very similar themed books and just maybe I need to break away from them for awhile. The story was good and the characters were predictable but likeable. My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.
I was lured by the first novel in this series, The Seaside Cocktail Campervan as it is set in Northumberland, my hometown. This book, Mistletoe and Mulled Wine at the Christmas Campervan is the follow-up to that. Lucy has her own pizza business, All Fired Up which she operates from her van and old horsebox, fully revamped. Looking ahead, Lucy hopes to share a few kisses with Jack Anderson under the mistletoe at Christmas, who is the owner of the Cocktail Campervan, a red VW. Lucy travels to events in her mobile pizza van, taking her black-and-tan rescue Dachshund, Daisy with her who sleeps in the back of the van. Now, it's October and business is slowish; Lucy hits on an idea to have a pizza and Prosecco party at Cove Cottage to thank the villagers for their recent support.
This was a delightful little tale for me and I loved the mention of the village of Embleton where Lucy has her cottage. In an endearing story, Lucy and Jack are both struggling with inner turmoils; Lucy has been friends with Becky since they were at school together but now they are barely speaking and it's all because of Jack. But at least Liam, her ex-fiancé has gone from her life and she's sold the new build she had with Liam. Jack is wondering if he has it in him to settle down for good.
Blend together a great locale, a quirky dachshund, wintery weather, plenty of scrumptious pizza, some delectable sounding cocktails, browsing around Christmas markets and soupcons of breezy romance and you have a lighthearted, dazzling read. This one is sure to make you smile.
This review was written voluntarily and my rating was in no way influenced by the fact that I received a complimentary digital copy of this novel from One More Chapter via NetGalley.
Lucy and Jack are now dating, still working their camper van businesses, and experiencing the natural dating pangs that happen as a couple gets to know one another. For me, this was the most realistic part of the entire story.
Fave character - I absolutely adore Lucy’s Nana.
Least fave character - I was ready to fight Lucy’s BFF in the first half of the book.
I did this as an audio because I LOVE the reader.
I do recommend reading the first book first because it pours a lot of concrete for readers for this book, but it’s not an absolute. You can still read this and enjoy it without reading the first.
I also recommend this as an audiobook because of the reader.
This is the sequel to 'The Seaside Cocktail Campervan', and if you enjoyed that then you willl definitely enjoy this book. It continues the story of Lucy and her mobile pizza horse box business and her relationship with Jack who runs the cocktail campervan. This book is a must for all of the author's fans and also for anyone looking for a romantic christmassy read. I definitely enjoyed this book and loved how characters from the author's other books made an appearance. Thanks to netgalley and the publishers for this advance read.
This book is really lovely and sweet with a very nice romance and lots of intense events going on. Although there is quite a lot going on in this book and that the characters are really likeable and that the story is really sweet and sometimes mysterious, I found myself a bit bored at some parts of the book. I would say this book story a bit too long for what it has to tell. This is a shame. I gave this book 4 stars but to be honest I almost gave it 3 stars, but the end was really good and made myself like this book again! I hope the next book by Caroline Roberts will be a bit more exciting, because I really like this author!
This is book #2 in the Cosy Campervan series. Whilst it is part of a series, it can easily be read as a standalone book. I must admit, shamefaced, that I’ve not read the first book in the series so Ruby the Campervan is a new one to me! How delightful though is the little charming cocktail campervan, along with the pizza horsebox! All sounds a bit strange? It really isn’t though! The campervan is owned by Jack and the pizza horsebox (a horsebox converted into a mobile pizza place with an authentic pizza oven!) is owned by the lovely Lucy! They travel around to events to provide catering and drinks, and Jack and Lucy are also in a bit of an on/off relationship!
This was a wonderfully festive story! Take away Jack and Lucy’s storyline and I’d have been just as happy reading about the Christmas festivities, sparkling cocktails and the most amazing sounding pizzas! Lucy is a lovely character and I loved how she’d worked hard to get the pizza horsebox into a viable business! I wasn’t as keen on Jack’s character though and he seemed troubled by issues in his past, which has an impact on his early days relationship with Lucy. Their storyline was interesting though, and I loved reading about the Christmas markets they went to, which really got me into the Christmas spirit! I also loved meeting again some characters from this author’s previous books who were cleverly integrated despite being in different series!
The storyline was heart-warming with plenty of fun, love and friendships! It will also get your tastebuds tickling, especially with a recipe list at the back of the book for all the lovely food and drink featured throughout. Grab yourself a blanket, a glass (or two) of mulled wine and a slice of Christmas pizza and settle down for a truly delightful Christmassy romantic read!
I received an ARC of, Mistletoe and Mulled Wine at the Christmas Campervan, Caroline Roberts. I love books by Caroline Roberts, and this is a great Christmas read. Lucy and her man Jack are working at the Christmas Campervan, this holiday season. All is good until Lucy's ex shows up.
This is book two in Caroline's Cosy Campervan Series. I read and loved book one so if you love a British seaside romcom, then Caroline’s rather unique tale surrounding Jack’s Cocktail van and Lucy’s Pizza van is sure to hit the spot. Reading book one is recommended as Jack and Lucy’s relationship continues in this sequel.
There is much to enjoy about these tales with everything from starting a new business, to the actual venues that these catering vans attend. For each event Caroline includes an invitation which sets the scene by giving the location, time and actual event eg. wedding. It is a wonderful way to travel the English countryside. The characters and storylines are relatable.
‘Don’t know where the time is going, November is whizzing by … Christmas’ll be here before we know it.’
As a run up to Christmas Lucy and Jack are attending events of the more festive variety and it is a joy to witness. Many magical moments from the snow and carols, to the mulled wine from one of Jack’s cocktails or a slice of Lucy’s festive pizza.
‘I love doing the Christmas markets, there’s such a wonderful feel about them.’
It was enticing to have the story not in the usual Cornwall locale where most of these tales tend to be set. Instead, it is in north east England in the beautiful Northumberland! Traveling that fabulous countryside in a classic campervan to a Castle for a Christmas market was such a treat!
‘Ooh, you can’t beat a bit of festive fizz,’
For pure escapism and a tale of friendships, broken hearts, loss, and finding courage - look no further! With wintry weather readers will relish browsing the Christmas markets sipping one of Jack’s cocktails whilst biting into one of Lucy’s yummy pizza slices. What’s not to love when crafts, carols and cocktails are on offer in an ancient castle?

My Opinion
You have been warned, with all the talk of pizza and cocktails you will need snacks and drinks on hand whilst reading this delight. This is a sequel to The Seaside Cocktail Campervan and if you enjoyed that book then you will definitely enjoy this one. We follow Jack and Lucy as they operate their businesses at Christmas markets so there is a lot of festive cheer to get you in the mood for Christmas.
I’d like to thank NetGalley and One More Chapter for approving me for an ARC of this book. This was my first Caroline Roberts, after hearing so much about her books I thought it was time to take the plunge! Whilst this book is the second in the series it can be read as a standalone.
Lucy is the proud owner of All Fired Up, her mobile pizza horsebox and her boyfriend Jack is the owner of Ruby, the cocktail campervan. Whilst trying to get their businesses off the ground and attempting to attend as many Christmas themed events as possible these two soon find that their relationships hits a few snags.
I really liked Lucy and the business she had created. She was one of those characters that instantly made you feel warm and happy, you wanted to see her succeed in all aspects of her life. With her fractured friendship and Jack seemingly distant its no wonder that Lucy was feeling alone and nervous about the festive season.
This book was screaming Christmas at me and I loved it. From the traditional mulled wine to turkey pizza this book certainly sets the scene for the festive season. I could have happily lost myself in this book and stayed on the sofa with my cosy blanket and mince pie. Trust me when I say this book will make you hungry!
For my first Caroline Roberts it was an enjoyable experience. I shall now be finding the rest of her back log and making my way through those!
this book was SO boring literally nothing has happened yet apart from lucy’s tyres got slashed boo hoo the book started with a couple and they’ve not have any major drama either there’s just NOTHING HAPPENING
the writing is really cringing me out, it reads like a gcse creative writing essay and why are they all speaking like 80 year olds
As always Caroline has outdone herself again. A superb read full of action and love. I loved all the returning characters from previous books. I have missed them. Highly recommend.
Caroline Roberts - Mistletoe and Mulled Wine at the Christmas Campervan.
This is book 2 in the Cosy Campervan series. It can be read as a standalone story, but it’s better enjoyed if read in series order.
It was lovely to catch up with Lucy and Jack and follow the next stage of their journey.
The book took a little while to get going, but once it was up and running, it really was a joy to read.
#MistletoeAndMulledWineAtTheChristmasCampervan is a heartwarming story, full of all the festive feels and oodles of delicious sounding pizza and cocktails. With some endearing characters, a cute dog, a sweet romance and a quirky little campervan, this is a perfect tale to squeeze your heart and put you in the mood for Christmas.
A festive must read. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
With thanks to Netgalley and Harper Collins Uk for a digital arc of this title.
Another superb story from Caroline Roberts. Part of the cosy camper van series this can easily be read as a standalone, although I’ve loved meeting up with Lucy and Jack again. Caroline Roberts writes such heartwarming stories and the settings of the fayres and events attended by our main characters made for such a wonderful story. I loved seeing how Lucy and Jack’s relationship developed and how we had the interactions of others in the story to support the two of them.
Make sure you have your snack of choice and perhaps some fizz, or tasty to drink on hand throughout reading this book, as like the one before it, it will make you hungry and potentially craving cocktails (and mocktails). You have been warned.
It was great to catch up with Jack, Lucy and Daisy once more. I felt right at home instantly within the folds of these pages, and it was just a warm hearted, lovely story that I couldn't have enjoyed more if I tried.
It hit all the right spots for me, including smile inducing cameos from characters from Caroline Robert's other series. So for a massive fan like me that was wonderful to see, but if you haven't read anything from her before, they are just other characters for you to meet that have a place within the parts of the story they appear in.
There is so much delicious food in this book, it's making me hungry even thinking back over it! But above all it is the continuation of Lucy and Jack's fledgling romance, which is not overly smooth sailing. All manner of bumps and turns for them to overcome and I enjoyed seeing how everything progressed.
Set alongside Christmas market season, in the snow, with some great sounding events that they are both catering at, this book has it all. Had me on the edge of my seat at one point too, where I really wasn't sure whether I could believe in the power of the genre of book that this is, to get the right outcome!
This is just another truly wonderful story from the queen of foodie romance!
Thank you to One More Chapter and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
This cover immediately grabbed my attention and I just knew that I needed to give this book a read this year, further helped by the fact that i stumbled upon a mulled wine, mince pie and carolling event the morning I started this.
I don’t know what it was about Jack but I spent a lot of the book leaning towards Becky and waiting for him to do something wrong. I think it was because he almost seemed too good to be true despite saying a few times how he felt about Lucy. No one could doubt how much she was falling for Jack and I just so wanted him to be as good as she believed because Lucy is a lovely character who deserves a bit of happiness!
There’s such a Christmassy feeling about Christmas and winter markets, with loads of handmade crafts and home cooked food - you can’t beat fresh warm mince pies can you! The only thing with this book was that I expected it to be a bit more festive with more of the mistletoe and mulled wine, although I have to say that the festive pizza did sound incredible and there were quite a few of Jack’s cocktails that I’d love to try out!
Overall I did enjoy this book and really liked the characters, I raced through the book and the intense moment had me sat on the edge of the sofa waiting to find out how things were going to go - also the last few scenes were beautiful but I did think that the surprise was going to be something different. Maybe that’s in a future book though…. 🤞🏻
This is the second book in the cocktail campervan series. I loved the first book, which was an enemies to lovers, following Lucy and Jack through the events circuit with her pizza horse box and Ruby, the cocktail campervan. Now they're serving all of the festive events of the holiday season and they've been dating a few months. Lucy's best friend Becky who knew Jack before warns her against his rocky dating history and fear of commitment. When he starts acting distant she wonders if they'll make it through the holidays or if it'll be New Year, new girl. I love Lucy and Jack together and while I can understand why he had a fear of commitment I still just wanted to shake him. But the last scene was just so perfectly romantic and the poem he wrote her was beautiful. Ruby was such a big part of these books I just wanted to cry at what happened to her! And Becky just made me furious. It's OK to give advice, but to refuse to talk to your best friend when she doesn't take your advice is childish and cruel. It made me wonder why Lucy was trying so hard to keep her as a friend. At first I was wondering why we were revisiting their story but I enjoyed spending more time at the events and by the end I was happy we got an HEA for this special couple. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Lucy is back in her horsebox Pizza Van, cooking those delicious sounding pizzas and she is invariably near or alongside, Jack with his red Cocktail Campervan, shaking up his latest concoction to delight the customers. They are still in the early days of their relationship.
But it is not without it’s troubles. Lucy has fallen out with her best friend Becky, who knows Jack’s reputation of old. Becky just doesn’t want Lucy to get hurt. When Jack stats behaving strangely, Lucy begins to worry and worry even more when her ex-fiancé turns up wanting to get back together.
In the run to Christmas, where the events that Lucy and Jack are attending are of the festive variety, this really takes you away to all those wonderful magical moments. I can smell the mulled wine, I can taste the festive pizzas, I can feel the cold as I wend my way amongst all the twinkling lights and cheery carols.
Amongst all this festive cheer though, Jack and Lucy are perhaps not being honest with each other, when events mean they are forced to confront their doubts and declare their feelings, something else momentous happens which could ruin it forever.
This is the perfect escape into Christmas and I loved the fact that the author has pulled the main characters from her other wonderful novels and given them a guest appearance which adds to the community feel of the book. I felt festive, full of delicious food and drink and wanted to embrace every Christmas Market I possibly could find! The book is magical and I hope we get to go back for a cocktail or two with Jack and Lucy at some point again.
Christmas feels like a real gift for Lucy this year. Her cosy coastal cottage is starting to feel like home, her new pizza business is getting the locals ‘All Fired Up’, and she can’t wait to spend it with her new flame Jack, the charismatic owner of the Cocktail Campervan. Winding along the snow-dusted Northumberland coast for a whirlwind of Christmas markets and celebrations, Lucy and Jack can’t resist stealing a few kisses under the mistletoe. But there’s a twist in their romantic tale when Lucy’s ex turns up in the village. As her past closes in, Jack becomes increasingly distant. And Lucy worries he’s holding back a few secrets of his own . Really enjoyed this book read in one sitting totally gripping and totally recommend Thank You NetGalley and HarperCollins Uk, One More Chapter
I just reviewed Mistletoe and Mulled Wine at the Christmas Campervan by Caroline Roberts. #NetGalley
This is the second book in the campervan series which continues the story of Lucy with her Pizza truck - All Fired up and Jack with his cocktail campervan - Ruby. At the end of the last book they had officially become a couple and Lucy's fledgling business was going from strength to strength. As with the last book some of the chapters start with an invite to an event to set the scene which I think is a brilliant idea. I love the setting of Northumberland - the descriptions are beautiful and really make me want to visit again soon and even though the story starts in October the thought of a paddle in the sea brought a smile to my face. The characters are believable because they are flawed just like the rest of us and the sound of the food and drink made me want to try everything. The description of the Christmas markets and events have really got me in the seasonal mood. A beautiful sequel (with guest appearances from other Caroline Roberts books) which I am sure you will enjoy.
If you have read Caroline Roberts' previous books you'll love the fact that you see the characters from the Cosy Christmas Chocolate Shop, the Teashop at the Castle and Rachel's Pudding Pantry all make an appearance in this book. If you haven't read her previous work it won't impact you at all so don't let it put you off.
Mistletoe and Mulled Wine at the Christmas Campervan is the second book in the Cosy Campervan series and continues following the working and personal lives of Lucy and Jack. All is not plain sailing for the pair of them and Lucy experiences some work life drama and doubts that her with relationship can go the distance.
The Christmas feel of this book is lovely and the characters develop in ways that you might not expect. Another great book by Caroline Roberts and I sincerely look forward to reading the next book in the series.
Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book.
Continuing the story of Lucy and her "All Fired Up" pizza horse box on the business front things are going well. Her relationship with Jack with his Cocktail Campervan doesn't go so smoothly though. It was great to return to this series as I'd enjoyed the first book and its setting. The pizzas sound delicious and I wouldn't mind trying some of the cocktails either. I also liked the "special guest appearances" by characters from other of the author's books set in the area, including the Castle tea rooms. After a steady start the story builds towards the end when Lucy and Jack have to re-evaluate their relationship. I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher through Netgalley, however this did not influence my review of the book and I have already pre-ordered it as I enjoyed reading it so much.
Set in Northumberland, this festive romance has believable characters, festive settings and a lovely mix of friendship, family, romance and poignancy. This Christmas-time romance is the second in the cosy campervan series. It follows Lucy with her fledgling pizza van business, Jack, the cocktail campervan man, and their developing romance.
Many festive events are wonderfully described, with mouthwatering food and cameo appearances from other characters in this author's other great Northumberland set series'. It's a story of new love, commitment conflicts, previous relationships and family tragedy amidst the sensory delight of a Northumberland festive season.
Gently paced and heartwarming, it's the perfect book to cosy up with on an Autumn afternoon.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher.
The tale of Lucy, who owns a pizza horsebox, visiting various markets and fairs throughout the year. She met Jack in his ruby red campervan at one of these fairs; he runs a cocktail business and the pair soon fall for each other.
Of course, there are a few bumps along the way, an ex who thinks there is a chance of getting back together again and the pain of losing a family member.
The backdrop of the beautiful Northumberland coast and characters from other books by the same author drew me in, I love the intermingling. Also the food descriptions and recipes included is a nice touch.
The part that was disappointing to me was the car accident/ending up in hospital trope. Just when the characters were in the worse place in their relationship, they manage to forget everything that has kept them apart and turn it all around on a hospital ward.
