This book has arguably the best ending I have ever read in a litrpg series. The author could have milked the series for at least a couple of more books by describing the raids in detail and littering random items and power-ups throughout the plot, but instead masterfully finished the story to an amazing and definitely mind-blowing conclusion. Hats off, seriously.

Not really happy with the ending

Multiple areas of the story line were built up, but then either not explored or barely touched on. Felt like it dragged for the first half then rushed through the second.

12/03/23 Audiobook Notes:

I had forgotten the exact details of the climax for the series. Which was great, because I was able to feel the fun of plot points coming together again.

If you enjoyed the series, I highly recommend checking out OppaTranslations Website and reading the comments on the ending chapters. The author, From Hell, made a few comment posts and that added to the overall experience.

Full Notes for Series Read on OT Website

01/03/2022 Notes: Master Hunter K

Ch56-186 Read on OppaTranslations Website

**Bonuses for Reading on OppaTranslations**

- Extra notes that give more information about some story elements. Those parts could be great addition to the kindle as glossary at the end of the ebook.
- Notes from the author, From Hell. He explained the way some of the characters were created and implemented in the story.
- Getting to know the translation team a bit.
- English Translation has an alternative ending to the series. The translators asked the author to write a different ending than the one he had originally written. Cool interactions between author, translation team and the online readers.

I really enjoyed reading this series. It's a portal-dungeon story with interesting characters, complex plot connections, and fun raids with a variety of classic + unique mobs.

The translation team would benefit from having an English editor to look over the translation. The story is very readable, but some sentences/phrase formats are clunky and fragments vs complete sentences.

I enjoyed the story and plan to read the other books that OppaTranslations have on the website.

12/24/21 Notes: Master Hunter K #1 (Ch1-55)

1) Master Hunter K is a Korean webnovel that was translated by OppaTranslations.

2) I came across the audiobook on Audible. I read a mix of reviews on Audible + GR. Since I've been on a reading spree on translated Asian webnovels, I figured I would give this one a try. It's on KU.

3) There are a lot of complaints about the main character. Right from the get go, you find out that Sung Jin is the last one to die in some battle, given a chance to go back and try again. Then the story unfolds in a manner to show the results of what it's like to be a survivor of horrors. Sung Jin is a prickly pear. He's not meant to be a likeable character off the bat. I thought the way he was presented was well done and consistent to the character build that's drawn out by the author. Within the story setting & boundaries, Sung Jin acts true to his character.

I liked the setup for the story. There are plenty of stories out there with OP characters. Not all of them are fun to read. Sung Jin is not perfect and it shows. I liked the way he has to deal with the ups and downs in becoming the best.

Lots of stories with intense conflict rarely deal with the traumas of being in battle or insane events. I like that PTSD is a part of the story line in a believable fashion.

4) There are cool art pieces by an artist called Starwars Coffee in the ebook.

5) Overall, OppaTranslations did a good job in transferring the story to English. There are still some grammar mistakes and other errors, but they're not to the point that I'm put off like some other translations.

6) Travis Baldree is the narrator for the audiobook. He's a good narrator. I'll probably get the audiobooks. It depends on how the story ends.

7) This webnovel has been finished. Ch1-55 are in book #1. I know the rest of the story will be released on KU at some point, but I don't want to wait. The rest of the series is available to read on the translators website. Considering that most of the Asian webnovels that I've been reading go over a thousand chapters, this will be a breeze. =P

So ends the story of Master Hunter K, Kei’s story will soon end

The end is upon them all, unless a team of humans can defeat all the raids and protect humanity. Having failed the first time, Sungjin was given another attempt as the last surviving human. Funny story that as he learns that there is so much more that has happened that they are all unaware of. But through determination, strength of arms and mind, Sungjin hopes to finish the raids this time. Save humanity and end the raids is very human’s goal, but they aren’t strong enough. He finally learns how he was the last survivor and that he may not have been the first last survivor. Read on for all that and more with new items, monstrous enemies and the finale for humanity.

A good conclusion to the trilogy - even if the last battle's description was particularly short (though, appropriately I think).

It's nice sometimes to read something that isn't trying to be the neverending story.

I had rolled my eyes at how much the various nationalities all end up sounding Korean, until we got to the battle with the American and North Korean. That sounded very American.

It ends as it begins. Quick action, shallow but individually distinguishable characters, moderately interesting challenges, immature protagonist.

I want to emphasize how important "quick" is here. Often combat focused books feel the need to drag out every fight and describe every detail. Boring. Here unimportant fights usually get dealt with in only a few pages, and even boss fights don't feel like they drag on forever.

This is a lackluster finish that is very disappointing.

The first was fun and interesting, the second was a set up. This one did not deliver. The beginning was boring, the middle was redundant. The ending was drawn out and somehow abrupt. This was a huge let down.

Review (By Oscar): The Final Chapter is a really great book, and an incredible conclusion to Master Hunter K. I loved this book for so, so, so many reasons, the first of which being its method for progression. Many LitRPGs fall into the pattern of a class and skills type system, however, in this world, the main method for improvement is either to improve your stats, get new spells, titles, or items (with items being the most useful). The story of this book also was very well done, never feeling like it dropped into things that I have seen too often before, remaining interesting and original. Additionally, while this book is translated, I didn't even notice it one bit, the translation from Korean to English incredible. Throughout the story, we get to see Sungjin frantically try to gather allies as the final Raid draws nearer and nearer. Each Raid is perfectly written, every one filled with an expansive world and enemies. However, the one thing that I wished to see more of, is the Raids. Sungjin is always a loner, and he eventually procures an item that lets him do Raids by himself, which leads to a quick compilation of Raids that feels slightly rushed near the end of the story. However, that barely takes away from the story, and perhaps even makes it better, preventing the story from dragging on for another 100+ pages. The interaction between Sungjin and his Chosen Ones also continues to grow, more joining the group, and their connections deepening. All the characters have a well fleshed out, unique character, and I can easily distinguish the different voices. The combat is also keeps me on the edge of my seat, flipping page after page, and while almost nothing seems to come as too much of a struggle to Sungjin - the MC firmly in the realm of OP - seeing him use all his different items, switch between swords, talk to his familiars, makes an entertaining combat. Throughout the story, secrets are uncovered, twists around every corner that makes me gasp out loud in astonishment. The end of a story is a difficult thing to do well, and something that few stories in this genre have actually written, but this book wraps up Sungjin's story magnificently. The ending, while feeling slightly rushed, leaves you feeling content and pleased with how the character's journeys have ended. All in all, The Final Chapter by From Hell, is a perfect ending to this great, original series.

Hmmmmm. I'm not quite sure how to feel about this book and the ending. I really liked the fact that we got to see why Edward made the choices he did, but at times I also felt like things were either moving was too fast or like they were repeating way too much. I would've loved to see more things from Edward's pov, what was it that he saw in the future, why did he choose Sungjin. I feel like his whole story was quite lacking and he joined Sungjin way too fast. Also, I hate that we didn't get any real closure between Sungjin and Edward, like first you were friends, then you were enemies, then you were friends again, then you all just left. There could have been so much more depth to their story, their friendship and it's a shame we didn't get to see any of it.
Also, the fights get quite boring when you already know the mc is going to win and you see him not even struggle. After so much preparation and how detailed the previous battles were, I expected so much more from the final conquest and yet all we got was that, not even a proper battle. I'm quite disappointed by that final chapter.
Another thing that really bothers me is the ending itself. It felt really rushed and incomplete. There were so many things that needed to be explained and yet they just got to choose to save their memories and that's it.... What about the dragons, the mystery seller, the whole challenges themselves.... dude saved the whole world and barely 5 people remember him.... It's not like I expected him to turn into a hero and live a life of lavish, but I feel like the ending was extremely lacking in comparison to the other parts of the story. The only thing that saved the story for me was the fact that Serin ends up with Sungjin... and even that could've been described way, way better. They basically had nothing going on the whole story(I mean there was minimal pinning for each other) and now they're suddenly dating....
I don't know..... I did enjoy the story, but I can't pretend like it wasn't lacking, especially the ending..... I think the only reason I'm giving this 4 stars is because I'm happy for Serin and Sungjin.

While I enjoyed this book I felt like it didn’t have enough meat to it and should probably have most of it cut out and lumped into book 2.

He pretty much weeded out all the traitors killing fellow humans in book 2 and so stops earning as many black coins. The mysterious shop keeper stops having cool stuff for him to buy other than the same boring elixirs he was already getting before, and there aren’t any items available for him to use on the auction house. His personal development is stunted and capped which was a bummer for me.

This book is all about finding final team members and exploring the nuances of Edwards betrayal in his previous life. While I did enjoy this twist, the final battle, and the way things end overall. I was left unsatisfied because of too many unanswered questions.

The author did leave the story open in such a way that he could continue the story at some point if he so chose. Just wish he would do so! Lol

A LitRPG with an ending? Never heard of such a thing...
Not only did this amazing LitRPG have an ending, but it's really well done. Like many others, I wish this final book was longer, especially the last parts, but it certainly didn't have to be and I understand why most of the parts were abbreviated.
The first book left me a bit skeptical, but the character's decisions start to make more sense as you learn more in the 2nd and final books, and the narrowness of the plot helps keep it tight and on track unlike virtually every other LitRPG. Which isn't to say I don't like a good, neverending LitRPG, much like a good, neverending MMO. But, y'know, change can be nice and whatnot.
I'm definitely coming back to this series in the future.

Although the final battle wasn’t explored in depth, I’m not too upset about it. I think the ending after the raids played out exactly as I’d want them to, and although the arc with Edward seemed rushed I don’t think there could be any more info added that would’ve made he story. If we went more in depth I feel like the story would have lost some of its moving ending. I loved the references to other raids but am disappointed the secret trader’s origins / motivations were never revealed (no doubt on purpose)!!

I enjoyed book 3 a lot more than the 2nd one. There were a few twists in the story I did not expect (very much appreciated! I like it when that happens) and there were a few hints to the underlying thing in the end I really enjoyed.

I would have liked a bit more snippets of the aftermath, a chapter or two, but book 3 did not disappoint. I still have a few issues with the main character's choices, but they smoothed out towards the end of the story. It didn't feel too rushed either, just a little.

I had fun with this series. Not a sure re-read candidate, but it was fun.

A wonderful end

The ending of this series is a sad thing as I truly enjoyed it so much. I liked a whole lot about the ending but the pace of it kind of seemed rushed at parts. I absolutely love this series as I’ve mentioned and if you made it to this book then you will enjoy this one as well.

Seeing a conclusion to K’s story is bittersweet, as I want it to go on longer but enjoy the way it is concluded. Give this series a chance and you will not regret it.

Nicely done

This has been a good story. From start to finish it was decently written. The character development was nice, and the characters maintained who they were through the whole thing. This was a happy wrap up. So many stories like this cause you to finish and feel unsatisfied or things are taken to a extreme level of ludicrousness, this one ended on a good note exactly how a story like this should end. I look forward to Future writings.

Captivating series

Please forgive me but I was so caught up in reading this series that I did not leave a reading for the first two books. That being said the story has had me in entrapped from the beginning and I couldn’t be more happy with how all things played out. This was very well thought out and nicely done. Kudos to the author!

I wonder if the name is saying that it is the last book for the series.

It's nice seeing something having a beginning and an ending. Too many books are stretching beyond the ability to hold the plot together because the author is trying to milk it for as much as possible. I'm glad this ended, and I'm satisfied with how it ended.

So it ends

I rather enjoyed the story, and the ending was not bad. The fact it got to an ending without dragging on was good, and it didn’t turn into ridiculous and unrealistic battles was also a good point. No world ending super punches that were unbelievably blocked etc. I hope the author can continue to release interesting stories.

Great conclusion to a fun series.

Really enjoyable series brought to a satisfactory conclusion. Being a translation, there were places where the writing was a bit awkward, but I still enjoyed the book. Fun times!

Lovely ending to an impossible tale. As others have said the middle feels rote at this point but the ending is one that I enjoyed. I'm happy to have gone through this three book journey and close out a story.

I love the series. The build up to the climax was good but then something happens and it felt like the author felt like there was not a need to right anymore details. It was a little disappointing especially because it was so different from how the rest of the series was written.

The author's got game

An enjoyable story told in the series of books. I didn't quite understand the whole solitary confinement instancing for players between raids that is yet so easily hacked by fairly easy exploit but I still had a fun read. Big Thank you to the author.

Unbelievable

This series has to be read,it is deep in lore, almost all the questions are answered ,but I think it would be cool to go to the different dimensions after it was cleared, just amazing how it ended

great ending for the series

I really like Korean isekai for the characterization and how they tell a complete story, no repetitions and an ending.

This one is a good example of one and I wholeheartedly recommend it to fans of the genre.

The ending is rushed. Floors which take 30 pages are being done in two pages, but it's not a bad ending. It got me stressed and excited and the end result was decently satisfying. If it wasn't such a pace shift at the end it would have been a 5 star novel.

Nothing surprising. Still with the translation issues, but if you made it through the first two books you won’t have problems here.

It was worth finishing.
