For the Brockdale pack, mating wasn’t just for pleasure or even for love. It was for survival.
Quincy needs a mate to make him invincible, but his inability to speak clearly has made him an outcast. So when the matchmaker chooses him for the first of the female candidates, no one is more surprised. Even more shocking is his animal’s immediate possessive reaction to her. Without a doubt, he knows…
She is his to protect. His to serve. His to keep.
Amber is sweet and caring, and looking for a place to call home. He knows he can give it to her, even if his packmates don’t believe in him. With his flaw, he never thought he’d be worthy of a mate. But now is his chance to show Amber that he was created to treasure–and pleasure–only her.

Quick instalove between a shifter H and a human h. A pack of wolf shifters are working with a matchmaker to find mates because they’re weak at the full moon when unmated and their enemies know. I did have questions about this premise because I wasn’t sure if the info was new to their enemies or they just hadn’t pressed that advantage previously. But Quincy (H) is the first wolf to be matched, with Amber (h). Written in third person, multi-POV (the prologue is the intro with the alpha and the matchmaker then the rest is the H and h). No ow/om drama and neither appeared to be virgins (only a small mention of a prior bf for h, no info on H I saw).
I loved the theme of Quincy accepting and loving Amber exactly as she was since she was never good enough for her family. I liked that he’d also experienced feeling out of place because he had a speech impairment (which was a plot device I didn’t love in this read because of what happens with it). They play 40 questions to get to know each other and open up easily right away. Quincy and his wolf are very much “mine” and know Amber’s theirs right away, always a plus for me on shifter romances.
One steamy scene in the main story and one in the epilogue, which was a short jump ahead but cute. I did wonder what each of them do job wise or for the pack after mating. I just usually end up wanting more from instaloves and that was the case here since they’re mated and in love within 24 hours of meeting. The mating was a unique process from what I usually read so that was cool.
I do think this was an enjoyable read and I’m glad I picked it up and will continue the series. Lovers of instalove will probably rate this higher so please don’t be discouraged by 3 stars.
This was another great addition to my shifter romance binge! I wished we could have seen more of Quincy's speech impediment, but I loved his and Amber's slow romance together. This story had some different aspects to shifter lore and fated mates, and I will definitely be continuing this series! ♡
This was really the perfect novella for a Shifter Romance. It's interesting and sweet, and it explains some intricacies in the world building, but it seems like it focuses on the Brockdale Pack.
The alpha for the Brockdale pack decides to team up with Winona, the towns shifter affairs liaison, to find mates for the members of his pack. The first to answer their add is Amber, desperate for a new beginning, and she's paired up with none other than the quiet lone-wolf, Quincy.
This was so short, and I really wished we could've gotten a couple more chapters. I get that there's more novellas in the series and I'm definitely reading those too, but I wanted a tiny bit more here -which is why this is staying at four stars. Still, it was an amazing time reading about the pack and getting introduced to some of the characters. Also, the smut is absolutely gorgeous here.
I kind of hope we get a Winona book, too. Just putting it out there!
What I mean is It felt like it was missing something. The two of them meet, play 40 question, have sex, claim, declare love all the same day (the day they meet to be exact). Yeah no I need a little more.
Wasn't much to the book very little they met she made cookies then the majority was sex sex sex, this irritates me I want a story that doesn't revolve around bedroom activities so I will probably not get the rest of the set
This short, sweet, sexy story was exactly what I was hoping for. Mrs. Jameson is a favorite author of mine, and I can always count on her stories to lift my mood. I’m definitely looking forward to diving onto Kole’s story!
Ok.....so this is shifter meet human mate for the first time, and have sex a few hours later. Storyline is lame. Thought it might improve with book two but no such luck. Time I will never get back :(
A delightful tale! It is short and sweet! I love seeing fated mates meet and become the best they can be. Quincy and Amber couldn’t be more perfect for each other. Winona is an amazing matchmaker! I’m eager to see more in this series.
3.5 Stars ⭐⭐⭐💫 HOWL IT’S DONE is a quick read that is sure to entertain. It’s a tale that’s filled with emotions that will tug at your heartstrings and some pretty hot, steamy passion that will tug at other places. 🤩 Quincy and Amber are both somewhat broken in their own way, but they both begin to strengthen each other from the very moment they meet. Theirs is a fast, yet highly satisfying, insta-love story that you will certainly enjoy. What it lacks in depth it more than makes up for in its appeal. I’m also a bit intrigued by the concept of grasshopper shifters and how that is going to play out. 😉 This is the beginning of a new storyline that I know will continue to grow as each story develops. I am definitely looking forward to the next mate match.
I enjoyed the short shifter book--the start of a new series.
The author is new to me. I enjoy short shifter books to read between longer books and this was just the right length. It has some unique aspects I enjoyed. However, as with all novella-length books, some of the enjoyable parts of the book were limited. I would like to hear more about them in future stories.
This wolf pack has some challenges not in most shifter books. Quincy especially. This pack needs mates to strengthen them. Amber needed somewhere to feel she belonged. Will she find it here?
I'm anxious to see how the next mating goes. I recommend this one for shifter fans. Waiting for Amazon
I enjoyed reading this book. Love the aspects of having a mate making them stronger and “less killable” against their mortal enemies the grasshoppers shifters 🤣🤣🤣Hilarious to think of a fights between wolves, bears shifters against grasshoppers but I will still read it😂😂😂
I liked that there some new aspects to what could have been a typical shifter story. I also liked that it introduced some new shifter species. I wish we could have seen more of Quincy's speech impediment rather than the page or two where he was afflicted. I'm not sure about how I felt about Amber's past: I got why she was looking for a connection and respected that she looked for it rather than hope it found her. But the big reason she left her family was kind of lacking. If the trust fund was hers, how could they control it? But I liked their connection and how patient they were together. I'm not sure about the mate mark placement and why its placed there though. Its a new aspect that I can appreciate for being different, but I'm not a full fan yet.
I can’t wait for this new Shifter World to unfold!
So glad to see more shifter romance by P Jameson! This is a new twist on the traditional “find true mate” storylines and I’m eager to see how the other character stories unfold! Plus, new shifters!!! Not gonna spoil it but I really want to learn more about a certain unique shifter and her troubles with her family. And her other specialty skills make me think she could work across multiple series (because we all just want more HEA from Jameson)!
I always try to keep an open mind when it comes to shifter books because I’ve read some really great ones and some not so well executed books. I really liked this story, as soon as I started to read it’s like i couldn’t put it down until I finished the book. This has definitely become one of my favorite shifter books and I can’t wait until the next one!

Very good. I would have liked to see more about the speech impediment and possibly see if resolve more slowly -- it was great to note that the h had done her homework and was totally prepared to manage it.
I would have like a little more backstory and character development. A longer format would have made the story hang togehter more and built a more solid foundation for a series.
Short, wickedly sweet and sexy. Well done in development of characters and story in a very short time. Draws you in quickly. Can’t wait for the rest of the pack to get their mates.
I’m so glad to see this author back to writing her paranormal work. This one is a bit shorter and more insta love than we have grown used to but it’s still a great read. The story flows and the characters are well written. Can’t wait for more.
Fanfreakingtastic!! I loved this story. Two broken souls, finding each other, and in doing so, healed each other, just by being themselves. There was so much emotion, the listening and really hearing and paying attention, all led up to a forever kind of love they never thought they’d deserved to find. I like the new shifter mark, way cool!
I am so excited for a new short series from P. Jameson. Sometimes we just need a quick read to build a world. Apes Mountain is going to be an amazing series. I can’t wait for the next one.
I love discovering new-to-me authors, so when the covers and the titles in P. Jameson’s Apex Mountain Shifters series drew my eye I decided to give them a try. There are newer releases, yet this one is a completed series so I’ll get a better feel for the author’s style and if I intend to read her backlist by starting with Howl It’s Done.
My first impression is of a well-written shortish story with steamy encounters, an unusual speech problem for the Hero, an underestimated heroine, and shifter lore that I don’t often find. I always love a fresh take on how different authors create their shifter worlds. Plus this wolf pack has a very unusual shifter enemy and a vulnerability that gives these wolf tales a slight twist that’s intriguing. Everything checks off the boxes for an enjoyable reading experience for me, personally.
I adored Quincy from the start. His inability to speak clearly and in a way that others can understand is unique. Oh, the words work just fine in his mind, but when spoken they are often a jumbled mass of words that together make little sense. Most of his packmates can decipher his meaning, but he doesn’t speak that often. This pack has one huge weakness and an enemy who will exploit that during any fight. Yet, when the wolves are mated that particular vulnerability disappears… so their Alpha and a matchmaker are setting out to get this pack mated as quickly as possible.
Amber is the first of the ladies who might be possible mates to arrive. She’s looking for a fresh start far from the family that devalues her at every chance they get. She’s human, and her eyes will be opened by the reality of pack life, but she’s also brave enough to step out of her comfort zone and hopes to find a man, a wolf who will love and accept her exactly as she is. That man is Quincy.
I enjoyed Howl It’s Done so much. It’s a quick read, but an oftentimes emotional one as Quincy and Amber open themselves to the possibilities of finding that lifetime love. I loved this couple from their first meeting. Their story is definitely sizzling, the groundwork is being laid for the danger facing this pack, and we start to see some of the other personalities we’ll be reading about in this series. I liked this world and will be back to learn more in the next story.

A possessive, dominant yet very sweet and sort of an underdog (pun intended) hero. Don’t know how the author actually achieved that perfect mix but I’m here for it. Steamy scenes - check and check; but it was the getting to know each other and opening up of the characters that makes this such a gem. The development is actually there, you get to know who they really are and why they are actually perfectly matched, a true accomplishment in such a short length. Lots of stories, short and long, as a reader you just have to take their word that they are well matched and authors use the majority of their word count for conflict - back and forward/will they won’t they?/ I want to, but no this *totally not serious* issue I have in my head won’t let me - which can make the characters, the heroine especially, unlikable (still read/enjoy those, but if you read a lot of romance it’s almost a well loved choreographed dance- think the shuffle at weddings). This story avoids unnecessary/meaningless conflict and it is intentional in its story development. It is dual POV but 3rd person narration as opposed to 1st, which has been more common in my experience. It works incredibly well and contributes to the reader’s understanding more of the characters in this story. There are minimal grammatical/syntax errors that are very common for this genre, which I don’t blame the authors/editors but I appreciated the lack thereof. I’m new to this author so I’ll start digging into their repertoire and keep reading the series. A++ and all the gold stars.
I don't really intend for this to be harsh, even though I'm sure it will be perceived that way. I'm just being honest and hopefully it will provide some transparency for a potential reader and/or helpful constructive criticism for the author. The book opens explaining that the hero has a speech impediment. When he tries to speak, even though he mentally knows what he's trying to say and there's nothing cognitively wrong with him, his words come out completely out of order and, for the most part, do not make sense any sense to the person he is speaking to. Apparently, it's always been this way and for the entirety of his twenty something years of being alive, he or no one else has ever tried to supplement a different method of communication for him. Or at least we were never told of it. We were also never told why he is like this either. Then, this loner human girl volunteers to be "matched" to an unmated member of the pack and her mere presence is enough to allow him to be able to speak clearly...and then this is NEVER elaborated on whatsoever. I feel like strange elements should not be included in a story without a purpose and this served no purpose or none that the author cared to develop. Then they very quickly commit to one another, have sex, and that's the story. The end. There were holes in this story, no character development, and I'm not sure what the conflict and thus subsequent resolution was intended to be, but it was certainly uneventful to say the least. It could have been ok, but there just wasn't enough there to be an actual full story in my opinion.
This was a short and sweet shifter story. A pack of wolves are in need of mates, so they use a match-making service to find them.
The first human to arrive is Amber, who was kicked out of her home by her crappy family. The matchmaker picks Quincy to be her mate to the surprise of the rest of the pack.
There was some corny dialogue in here, but overall, it was a pretty good story for a novella. It's instalovey - but I think that's to be expected in a story this short. What I didn't really like was that the main plot point in the precis - Quincy being unable to communicate - is solved in like the second chapter by him just seeing his mate. Made me wonder what the point of it was.
Not gonna lie, the whole grasshopper mortal enemy thing caught me a bit off guard, too. Not sure how I feel about it, so I'll probably try the next book to see how it goes.
Howl It's Done is the first book of the Apex Mountain Shifters by P. Jameson.
Amber is a girl trying to find a place where she belong and Quincy is considered a broken wolf shifter. She never fit among her family and their world and he was always the outsider, with his speech impairment, even among the ones from his own pack. Even with all of the odds against them he was the first one to be chosen by the matchmaker and their connection was their salvation.
P. Jameson's shifters have a permanent place in my heart and this is a fast, instant-love, emotional story between shifters that need their mates in order to survive. I loved how vulnerable, loving and supportive they are with each other and I will definitely keep on reading the series.
This is fun. Cute. Simple. This could have been a full length book, Quincy's character had so much to work with. We could have spent a few chapters getting to know his life with the speech impediment, the difficulties, the way he was treated, how that trauma affected him. Then when he becomes mated his life changes, and we could have explored that.
But alas that didn't happen. It was a short story that mostly focused on two people coming together, very little about their past trauma. Her internalized fatphobia was explored more than his speech impediment.
Also a bit problematic with the implied "miraculous recovery". I assume that tied into the magic of this universe. I assume every character is going to have a fatal flaw that a mate cures.
Overall the book was very well written. It made the characters relatable, and despite focusing on the relationship and intimacy, a sense of tension and intrigue was still maintained through out the novella with the pressure of a full moon lingering over their heads, the threat of enemy attack… It definitely encourages readers to continue the series. The relationship didn’t feel overly rushed, and the two used a creative method to get to properly know one another while respecting each other and their comfort zones. It had humor, tension, satisfying insights to both the protagonists and expressed character vulnerability.
