Ahhh that cliffhanger! This series has gotten interesting with the Duvall brother’s meshed with Jessie, Kelly and all the other paranormal characters. By now, Mr. hot vampire and our main girl have wonderful smutty chemistry. It’s cheesy in the best way haha- I need moreeee. I went into this series thinking it was already complete ..but alas……. 🥲

3.5 stars: This series really surprised me!
I came 😏 for the smut and stayed for the smut lol, AND all the characters and the mystery that is Mouse, aka Jessie's background! This series was easy to consume while keeping me interested in the two MCs and supporting characters.

I can't wait to see how the story will develop and need more!

The chokehold this world has on me in unmatched.

Shifters, witches, vampires, brownies, MIDNIGHT HARBOR HAS THEM ALL IN ONE PLACE.

I have comfort characters, I have a comfort series, is it weird to say this is my comfort world??

Like I just want to live in Midnight Harbor & pledge house Duval & maybe find a third brother hiding in the attic to fall in love with me.

I can’t WAIT to see this journey Jessie is about to go on after that fucking semi truck of a cliffhanger (which no longer hurt me because Nikki’s cliffhangers have given me a heart of steel).

I love that we’re learning about Jessie’s past along with her. I also loved seeing the sisterhood between she & Kelly develop deeper as they go through all of this chaos. That pledge scene though👀👀👀👀 I was damn near going out of my mind with adrenaline.

Also, just when I think Nikki has truly reached the peak of drop-my-jaw spice (the car hood scene from season 2, the Vine scene from The Dark One) she says “hold my whiskey & watch this” & WE LOVE HER FOR IT.

I LOVE this series. I came for the hot smut and have stayed for Jessie, Kelly, Bran, Daimen, the mystery that is Jessie's background and just Midnight Harbor in general. It just keeps getting better. I loved season 1 and 2 but man season 3 had me in a choke hold for sure. Also, I either forgot how spicy Nikki can write (but not likely because I love her books) or she turned this one WAY UP! Yeah....you will likely find yourself a bit hot and bothered.

I am so excited about where this story started and where it is going! We are finally getting to learn more about Bran too with his POV! Which honestly I am absolutely here for! Also - we cannot talk about what is happening with Jessie in this book! The Pledge scene!! I read it with my jaw hanging down in excited shock!

The end left me REELING! Come on season 4 I am READY!

Okaaaaay. Season 3... our FMC, Jessie aka Mouse, is really feeling her dark, vile, wickedness... ratcheting up her disobedience so she can be punished... she likes the very naughty things Bran, the MMC does to her... and he really likes to do naughty things to her.

Just when you thought it wasn't possible, Bran, the MMC is more outrageously possessive, more scowley and even more abrasive.

As I said in Season 2, this has some dark mafia vibes... he's a vampire, a billionaire and he likes to punish his little mouse... she's scared but excited and knows deep down that even though he's scary and dangerous to everyone else, he won't really hurt her...

Bran loves Jessie, and she loves him too...

This season, it's time for Jessie to pledge her house... Still trying to figure out her mysterious powers, and her mysterious past, there are things going on with her sister and Bran's brother, more shenanigans with the other vampires house... things are getting complicated but don't worry, they still find a way to slip in some sexy time.

POV: 1st person, dual pov's, FMC & MMC - this one added a few Bran POV chapters, but it's still mostly Jessie's POV

Good FMC: She's kinda running in place... she wants to have sex with Bran, she wants to provoke Bran to punish her, she wants to find out about her past... if she doesn't know about her past does she know who she is??? and round and round all that goes.
Good MMC: Bran gets a bit harsher in this season.
Good side characters: 👍 Ya. There's finally some more characters actually involved now.

😊Things I loved: Plot is getting more complicated so that was good.
☹️Peeves: Mentioning the cliffhanger again, but the author makes it clear that this was originally created for kindle Vella and cliffhanging is intentional.

Nikki, you’re wonderful. This one had me in a chokehold. The character development. The cliffhanger!!!

I really hope the next one comes out soon because I need to know about the bomb that was dropped at that ending. I really loved the adding of characters, the found family starting to form and kept me wanting more. The relationship growth between Jessie and Bran was so good.

Alls I do know is I need a scene with Cal and I need a scene with Damien. Immediately.

The first two was really just a lead up to this one but I’m here for it. Zero shame in loving HVND🩸

From the creator of pervert pan comes a soap opera on the level of vampire diaries. Is it literature? No. Is it predictable, gratuitous, and sometimes just downright silly? Yes! It is a fx show in audiobook form. I love these novellas though, they are the perfect little snack.

Listen to these books while you’re re-grouting your bathroom, they are not worth your eyeballs. They are the show that you put on in the background when you have to do tedious adulting.

I’m obsessed

The cheesiness, the twists, the turns! I just love this series as it feels oddly nostalgic. However, I draw the line at Damien’s nicknames for Kelly, that was too far for me 😭.

I can see this series turning into something amazing, like twilight level. Honestly recommend if you fancy a bit of fantasy and a bit of sex (a lot).

Cant wait for the next one! This series brought me out of my reading slump and I cant wait to read more of Nikki’s work!

Still enjoying this series, it’s hot and fun though makes me feel like I am cheating on novels in traditional formats with the Vella format.

I just wish that the story did not fall into the trope of the girl always being born special and therefore being the center of attention. I’d much rather have my characters earn their stripes than be handed everything just by being born.

Still gonna hang in there though as long as it keeps being good!

My jaw dropped!
I really wish the fight scene during the Pledge stretched a little bit more though. But the spice is super spicy, the cliffhanger at the end was crazy & now, I’m craving a grilled cheese.

Ugh, I'm just obsessed with this story and ate this book up so fast. We pick up where we left off and are coming up on Jessie's birthday, which is also the Pledging. Her and Bran, as well as others, begin to prepare for the Pledging because they know things are going to go down with the Locke House. Kelly, Jessie's sister, and Damien, have some sweet moments, but also have to make some big decisions that will impact them both. We got more information about their dynamic and let me tell you, I need more. I'd love to see some flashbacks of their history or even present day.

The Pledging was a mess, which I expected, and I loved it. The different faction dynamics was cool to see. I could totally visualize the role the shifters played (I don't want to spoil it) as if it were part of a show. Jessie comes into her own and she's powerful. I cannot wait to see more of that play out.

The cliffhanger didn't surprise me because I felt like Nikki had given us breadcrumbs of what was to come. I will say I was kind of surprised by Bran's reaction to what Jessie did. I totally get why he felt off, but I guess I was shocked to see something phase him. I hope it doesn't change their dynamic too much because I love them 🥺

This is the end of the story ( for now)

Let me just say, plot-wise this is the type of stuff you would see in like 2010s-style teen dramas and like Wattpad books, both of which I love. The story was really cool I didn't feel like I lost interest in what they were trying to discover throughout the 3 books and included some really interesting clues and witnesses of the event.
I mentioned it in my review of book 2 but at this point, I didn't even try, as soon as there was a smut scene I just skipped over it to let myself enjoy the story.
it wasn't a masterpiece but I enjoyed it and I'm glad I can cross it off my tbr.

Anyway, this has been a fun read, I think it has a good premise with a good plot, especially with that final reveal , also more kinks got unlocked in this book. New kinks keep unlocking in this series, surely not the best written but honestly such fun times.

Bran is one of my favourite book vampires, the way he is so protective of Jessie, how he grew to have feelings for her.

I'm also a sucker for a good cliffhanger, and I love when I'm not able to predict the ending, and oh boy did this book deliver! I can't wait to see what will happen next!

Ebbene, era da un po’ di tempo che ronzava nella mia testa la parola fantasy. La voglia spasmodica di avere tra le mani una storia urban vampiresca mi faceva sentire elettrica. Ho rotto un sacco le balle alle mie colleghe perché non trovavo nulla di soddisfacente. A volte succede, se si è nel mood sbagliato, anche la migliore lettura non funziona.

E poi scopro lei, Nikki St. Crowe. Dapprima mi sono fatta infinocchiare con la storia di Peter Pan (qui la recensione), e ora eccomi qui che scalpito per il seguito di Hot Vampire Next Door. Certo, non un gran titolo, anzi, se non avessi apprezzato la penna dell’autrice nel retelling di Peter Pan non avrei pensato minimamente di passare il mio tempo qui. Eppure…

Intanto se siete dei fan di True Blood (Dio quando ho amato questa serie! -Sia libri che serie Tv) non dovete assolutamente soprassedere. Ci sono degli elementi in comune che vi faranno percorrere la valle dei ricordi. E poi vabbè, se non la conoscete rimediate subitissimo!

Ma veniamo a noi. In questa recensione riepilogativa vi dico giusto due cose per convincervi a scoprire la serie ma soprattutto l’autrice.

Da una parte abbiamo Jessie, una normale ragazza umana che sta per compiere ventuno anni, e che dovrà scegliere a quale casa “promettersi”. Dall’altra invece abbiamo Bran Duval, vicino di casa vampiro appartenente a una delle più potenti casate, e spina nel fianco di Jessie. Lei è tecnicamente promessa a un’altra casata, ma a Bran non interessa ed è pronto a scatenare una guerra per accaparrarsi il cuore del topolino Jessie.

Cosa aspettarvi? Un sexy vampiro iper protettivo e super possessivo, una forza magnetica che li tiene letteralmente incollati l’uno all’altro che neanche le calamite, quintali di pagine pregne di sesso, e ovviamente una storia interessante e che promette di migliorare capitolo dopo capitolo. Io stessa sono ancora a bocca aperta per il finale mefistofelico che mi ha lasciata appesa come una fessa.

Ora non mi resta che aspettare il quarto volume, o “stagione”, come la chiamano loro. Perché HVND viene pubblicato a puntate sulla piattaforma Kindle Vella, una sorta di esperimento che Amazon sta facendo e che è disponibile momentaneamente solo per USA e UK, dove si compra un capitolo per volta. E a noi poveri stro**i, non resta altro che attendere la raccolta dei nuovi capitoli per la quarta stagione con unlimited.

Che dire? Nikki mi hai. Adoro la tua penna, la simpatia nel raccontare, e la tua fantasia: vorrei un Bran tutto per me! Sicuramente testerò anche la serie sui demoni, nella speranza che sia altrettanto succulenta.

Before diving into this book, it's important to note that it was originally released as a chapter-by-chapter series on Kindle Vella. This means that the pace is quick, with more action and excitement packed into each chapter. If that's not your preferred reading style, then this may not be the book for you.
“I thought you were going to fuck me,” she says around several gulping breaths. “I am.” I spit on her ass and it glistens in the light. “Both holes will be filled up tonight, Mouse.” And then I shove my cock in her ass.

However, if you enjoy a fast-paced, guilty pleasure read that unravels quickly, then this book might just be perfect for you. Just be warned, it's not a finished story and you have to wait for each part to be released.
Bran loves me and he’s not afraid to tell everyone he does and somehow that feels like winning.

The characters in this novel were quick to form bonds, their connection sparking like lightning and propelling the story forward at a feverish pace. The pages practically sizzle with steamy scenes that may not be everyone's cup of tea. But for those who relish a generous dose of smut in their books, this one will surely satisfy. As for me, I couldn't resist being pulled into the world of control and submission, where being called a "good girl" was both a reward and a punishment. The intimate moments between characters left me breathless, each one hotter than the last. If you're looking for a book that delivers on passionate encounters and tantalising punishments, then look no further. This one has it all.
