This is a terrible book. It was in my room of about 300 books that I am waiting to read, so at least now it will be removed from those shelves. It is a cross between a police procedural, noir, and Hardy Boy novel, though not that well written. It is racist yet winks at it as if it isn't. I'm not a fan of politicians, but this writer hates all of them, every single one. They all have constant sex with anyone they can get, every minute, and female politicians are probably the worst. The protag is a police officer who does all the work without getting the glory. He is set up to be a goon, to have committed an assault, which he didn't do; so later in the novel, he many times physically assaults other people. There is a femme fatale which the protag involves himself with, natch. Oh, the depths of stupidity are really quite impressive. The frosting on the cake is that this might be the worst copy edited book I've ever seen, and I am not using hyperbole here. Do not read this book unless you want to giggle in all the wrong places.
