Jack’s been beheaded, burned to a crisp, and stabbed through the heart. Yet, every time, he comes back to life. For fifteen thousand years, he’s been running from the gods, dropping his friends, his identities, his everything whenever they get too close.
He thought he was content with this lifestyle. Forever being alone. Never giving the gods someone they could use to hurt him. But all that changes when he meets Charlie, and the beast inside him, the thing even the gods fear, claims her as its mate.
Sebastian wants her to bring back the dead. And she’ll do anything to save her son.
Held prisoner, Charlie is being forced to create monsters for Sebastian’s army. If she doesn’t do everything he asks, he’ll kill her four year old son. But if she does, she’ll damn the whole Seven Planes. Determined to find a way to kill him and escape, she can’t fathom hating anyone more.
But then she meets Jack, her supposed mate.
And his betrayal cuts at her soul.
Slashes so deep, she’ll do anything to make him pay.
Iam sat here thinking of words about book 3 of the series, Tricked into It, not sure the words…I FREAKING LOVED IT will be enough! I should find some more but it is the truth! I have one gripe, one small tiny gripe…still not enough of Delentia! 🤣 (Miranda you knew that was coming)
After so many hints at what was to come in this book, I still wasn’t prepared for what happened! I love having the focus on Jack, he is and always will be a cheeky chap! I think he is probably my favourite. I loved getting to know him and his background and finally FINALLY who his Dad is, magic!
Charlie is a force to be reckoned with, and ever since her first appearance in Elemental Claim, I just knew she would be a feisty one! Although she is human and nothing to do with the Elv’ve’Norc she could still match Jack every step of the way and she has way more strength then she is given credit for. Her goal is to get her boy Tony back, he’s been taken by Sebastian (cue the booing and hissing for the resident baddie), working with Elizabeth she is on a mission for him, when low and beholds, she is “rescued”. I say this loosely because if there is a woman who doesn’t need saving, it’s Charlie!
From the off they do not see eye to eye, the only problem the Beast within Jack has decided that Charlie is his mate and nothing will stand in his way! Again, another twist on the life mate/mate situation! Plus it makes for entertaining reading when you see the struggles and destruction of the Beast inside.
This series really does remind me of the original Black Dagger Brotherhood series, with Jack a distant relation to my favourite character of Rhage in that series. Both with those battles and in love with a human. However, here, we get extra of Mythology thrown in, Greek, Norse, Amazon, anything you want it, it’s in there!
We briefly got to see the characters who have appeared before and we are introduced to some new ones who add their own flair to the books! I love how many characters we have because it means more books!!!!!!!!
Miranda has me so invested in the series that you feel their fear and panic! Especially when there is a scene travelling across the desert and the beasts remind me of the giant worms from Tremors!!!!! No thank you, think I will stay safely away from there!!
Gah, I do love this series and I just think it gets better and better! You have action, you have an adventure, a heart-stopping moment (Literally), you have a lot of banter and at time’s you get a little bit too hot under the collar! But you can see the wealth of research into the series and the mythology! I do love though how what you know is flipped about so don’t take anything for granted here!
So I sign off with…when is the next one? I mean there are so many unanswered questions I need to know the answers!
Simply put : Miranda is the goddess of words. I got hooked from start to finish. With each new book in the series, it gets better. Jack is just a sweetheart. Paired up with the stubborn brilliant Charlie, and you've got yourself a power couple. I liked how Loki is with his son. The love is just so obvious.. I can't find anything wrong with this book. What really did it for me was that I could picture every scene in my head. Like I was there. Well-done Miranda! This is the stuff TV shows are made of
Holy smokes! I had a feeling Loki was involved at the end of book 2. With the mention of the Aesir and all the chaos, of course he was involved! I definitely didn’t expect Jack to be the infamous Fenrir though! I loved this book! Charlie is so strong and her momma bear instincts are heart warming. I seriously didn’t think I could hate Lyrca more, but I was wrong. Sebastian’s past is heartbreaking and I just don’t know how to feel about him now. This is my favorite book so far in the series. Im excited to read Tegean’s story next.
I really enjoyed this novel. It is the third book in the War of the Myth series and it was much better than the second book. It did start out a bit slow for me until there was a pretty awesome werewolf fight scene that then set the pace for the rest of the book. The book also moved forward with the large plot of killing the vampire Sebastian because the reader learns more about this foe during this novel than in any other. I definitely suggest picking this one up for your next paranormal read.
HOW DO THESE BOOKS JUST KEEP GETTING BETTER?!? I loved Rogan and Emma in the first book. I got to Galvanor and Matalyli and thought I had died of happiness in the second, but JACK AND CHARLIE TAKE THE CAKE! Jack’s witty comments and Charlie’s sass are the perfect match. I laughed out loud at the witty one-liners in this book. I cried at the brokenness. I had my heart ripped to shreds then filled with hope for Charlie and little Tony. I truly want to learn to be the amazing badass woman that Charlie is. I also just want to be witty and quick enough to give the comments and comebacks.
Okay I was not ready for this secret. This definitely caught me off guard. I will say, I wish we got to see the rest of the Elv've'Norc really giving him crap for his sudden change in perspective on love.

Oh my Gosh this was my absolute favorite set of characters to get to read about! While I loved reading the first 2 and getting introduced to the world, and a little bit of how things work there was something about this one that had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I couldn't read, or flip through the pages fast enough. Not to mention getting to read about a hot trixter God with a separate entity residing inside of them, and their instant devotion to a stubborn, feisty woman, who happens to be their mate.
Out of all the books in the War of Myth series this is the one that I loved the most, but also hated it the most.... and i have no idea how to rate it, writing a review is honestly a huge struggle.
I loved it because I loved Jack from the moment he showed in Elemental Claim, hated it because... UGHHHHHH... CHARLIE IS SO FRUSTRATING!!!! I really really didn't like her. Like at all. But she fit with Jack and they made sense. It was a really feisty, full of fighting enemies to lovers sort of thing. Which is always exciting to read and the angry smutty scenes were hot as hell! Jack is super cocky, and Charlie is a takes no shit smartass — their dynamic was both hilarious and hot.... but I couldn't help myself, she annoyed the shit out of me and it took me ages to finish the book.
I also liked the story, it was intense and action packed. I loved this one certain God being introduced into the story, his and Jack's banter was to die for! And also, Jacks back story — LOVED IT! There are so many things about Jack's POVs that I loved and enjoyed.
The only bad thing was Charlie to be completely honest with you. I hated her character and found her incredibly stupid and annoying. If I were Jack I'd just give up on her and let her kill herself in process of saving her son idk what to tell you. And it's so so hard to rate this book and review you since I loved everything about it, but also hated because she's our female lead and takes a good portion of the book lmao.
Huge thank you to Miranda for providing me with a ebook copy in exchange for a review. I'm looking forward to reviewing the fourth in the series!
Tricked Into It is the third book in the War of the Myth series, and we get Charlie and Jack's story. Charlie is a human being held captive by Sebastian, her son, Tony, being used to ensure her compliance. Jack is Jack, the ultimate trickster with a secret and a heart of gold, even though he hides it well.
I found this extremely well-written, with Charlie's emotions being spot on when rescued. As a mum, I would have tried anything to get back to my child, which is just what Charlie did. Jack does what he can, bending the rules where possible, to help her. He is fighting a losing battle with the 'thing' inside him, and now finding Charlie, he feels like he is losing it.
As always, the characters are brilliant. I did take some time to reconnect with them as it has been a while since the first two books came out. This meant that I got to learn their witticisms and quirks all over again, which is not bad in my book.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story AND the epilogue. If I had anything 'bad' to say it would be that it finished all too quickly for my liking. It certainly left me with questions unanswered! Definitely recommended by me.
* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book, and the comments here are my honest opinion. *
