Law grew up in the trenches. Hustling since the age of twelve, his focus was making life better for his mother and brother. Finding intimate love was never a priority because he didn’t have many examples of that around him. Instead, he was taught to focus on getting money, not finding the one. Yet, upon seeing her, Zuri pulled something out of Law that was foreign to him. Though he had been with his girlfriend, Whitney, for a long, exhausting decade, he had never experienced a woman taking his heart so mercilessly.
In a time when Zuri’s husband had all but forgotten she existed, Law forced his way into Zuri’s path. The passion and chemistry between them were immediate. Yet, it was also strictly forbidden. Zuri’s husband, Rashaad, was not only the rich man who had saved her from poverty and recklessness; he was also the man who could destroy Law’s future if Law overstepped with his wife.
However, Rashaad himself was playing a dangerous game of infidelity that is sure to ruin Zuri for any future man if she ever finds out. For years, she endured Rashaad’s deceit and manipulation. Yet, it was a sacrifice she was more than willing to make to give her daughter a life better than she’d endured in the streets. Over the years, Zuri fought to withstand Rashaad’s disrespect. The shopping sprees, private jets, and foreign cars made that fight so much easier to win. Yet, no amount of money can prepare her for the betrayal she soon may face.
When saying “I do” twelve years ago, Zuri had no idea the drama and pain that would come with being a rich man’s wife.

Y’all!!!!!!!!!!! I don’t think my head has been this spent since “The Red Wedding” during Game of Thrones IYKYK..…🤯🤯😫😫🤧🤧If you read this book all I’m going to say is trust NO ONE and side eye EVERYBODY! Baby!!!! I mean!!!!!!! Who?! What?! When?! Where?! Why?! And MF HOW!?!!! I don’t even know what I expected going into this read, but I was not prepared!
This book primarily centers on Zuri and Rashaad. The drama starts pretty much from page one and we see that Rashaad is a f$&@ boy. Despite her woman’s intuition Zuri decides to ignore the signs plain as day and years later the drama unfolds. Stick a fork in me because I am done… no I am overcooked… I am the dry @$$ turkey on thanksgiving day done 😫🤧🥴. The scandals were scandal’n, the drama was drama’n, the betrayal was betrayal’n 🤣🤣 y’all get the point! There are several at more characters and moving parts to this story and I am here for it all!!! I need to see what happens next because my chest is about to explode from the anticipation!!!!
Zuri was a young single mother that desperately wanted a better life for her daughter. Even if it meant living a loveless life. She then has an unexpected encounter with Law and for the first time in years she feels like she is loved. ish hits the fan and Zuri is knocked off her square.
There was so much drama happening with the side characters that it was hard to focus. The sisters, her daughter, Law, his brother, the trial. It was overwhelming with so much ish I can't even fully summarize but let me get to the next book to get some clarity....cuz this ending woooow.
This was so messy. I can’t even wait to see how things go. The mess would have gotten 5 stars but Aanan’s name was spelled two different ways throughout the book and it annoyed me 😭 (Aanan / Annan)
I finished this book while getting my hair braided and all these characters got me seriously fucked up. 😂 This book is the definition of messy and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t enjoy every second of it. Thank goodness part two is out already, I would’ve personally messaged Jessica Watkins myself if it wasn’t. Karma needs to make her rounds in book two idc idc
The story had so much going on and family drama. I'm not sure where to start. The husband, his cheating, or the daughter's greed, and not to mention the sister's drama. A lot....
Whew child!! Be prepared to have your edges snatched. This was a RIDE!! And that ending🤯😩😳.
Someone’s review said trust no one. And they didn’t lie! Everyone is suspect. There’s so much.
This would’ve been a for sure 5 star read, but the grammar and the wrong persons name being used when it was clearly another character threw me off too much. There were at least 4-5 instances she mentioned the wrong character and I had to look back to follow what was happening. Mostly it was Zoey and Zuri. But that aside. This was a stay up all night read.
Can’t wait to read the conclusion. Because everyone needs to get what they deserved. And I’m side eyeing Dom. Don’t trust him, since everyone seems to be on some shady something.
Btw… Zuri is surrounded by the worst people. Her sisters and daughter are trash. Who does the things they do to one another and still smile in each others face. Who needs enemies if family does this to you?
This book was something else from beginning to end and it definitely had my attention. Very well written with great character development and storyline. The endless drama, secrets and hatred amongst siblings. Zuri definitely doesn't deserve the betrayal she has been getting and that bombshell that Zadah dropped on her about Zoey is going to cause a huge storm in the family. But Zadah isn't so innocent either with how shes been doing Zina for years. Can't wait for her reaction to the bombshell coming her way. So anxious for what's to come for Law. Can't wait to read part 2.
If this ain't Jerry Springer 2.0, I'm not sure what's to call it. Zoey, lil girl I'm so disappointed in you. Law boo that's how you make a woman think twice hunny. I love everything about this book.
This book was full of messy drama. I don't know whose mess was the worst. Once I started reading it was hard to put it down. I recommend buckling up and taking this ride.
WHAAAAAAAAT!? My jaw possibly detached when I dropped it because WHAT. DID. I. JUST. READ. Now, I knew I was in for some twists and turns but SHOOK doesn't even describe how I'm feeling.....WOW
Bay-be this book right here🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥! I'm ashamed to say this is my second read by Queen Jessica N. Watkins🤦🏾. Whew, Chil, this book gave a whole new meaning to having you on the edge of your seat. Just when you think you know who's screwing who's man/husband, BOOM, another curve ball. I gotta address that motherfudgesicklestix bomb that Zuri sister Zadah dropped on her at the end of the book😳👀. That bih had been sitting on that tea and waited until what she deemed the perfect time to drop it in her sisters lap🙄😔. Zuri created a monster with Zoey, an ungrateful as long as there's a bag attached to it I'm going type of monster. Her staying with that sorry excuse for a man Rashaad because of the things he provided knowing he wasn't worth the nut that fertilized the egg to get him here is why they were both so comfortable with disrespecting her and lying to her face about their whereabouts. She should've walked away when God showed her before she married him that he wasn't ish. 72% in, and it was so dang obvious cause Zoey was barely home, but she always knew when Rashaad wasn't there, what time he got in🤔. She only showed emotions when she realized that bag was coming to an end😔. All that lying and scheming done caught up to Rashaad, and now they Feds are looking for him. I don't feel sorry for him or Zoey, karmas a bih🤷🏽 I got mixed emotions about Zuri sleeping with Treyvon cause, like she said, Zadah ain't have no problem doing her dirty. Smdh at these 2. I was all for Whit doing her, but stabbing Law in the back for Jeezy bih a**, sis, that's the biggest downgrade. You had a man funding your lifestyle, and now you stealing from him to fund the next ninja lifestyle, make that sh** make since🤔. Man, I can't wait for that karma to come back. Well, Jeezy got his, but Whit done let that phuck boy use her😡😔. When Law finds out😳 Law can get it, Oh-kay😜😂! To know why he's in jail and who he's covering for, I get it. He is so protective of the ones he loves and went to war with anybody that he deemed a threat. The way he handled Brown after he attached Zuri, while her bih a** husband ain't do sugar honey ice tea. I knew that bet with Dodge would come back to bite him in the a**😢. Dom seems like an ok dude, but he ain't Law, and she's only using him to try and get over feeling betrayed. Bianca is bestie goals. She had Zuri back no matter what. UNC was a real one. Let's go book 2
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I. hate cliffhangers!!!! But baby!!!!!! This book is so darn good I'm still going to recommend it HEAVY! I will warn you, if you read this, be prepared to have your edges snatched THE ENTIRE BOOK!!! And right when your eyebrows are touching your remaining hairline...2BC! 38 Hot! You hear me!? Where do I start? LAW is bae! No way around it. I would break all the rules and nuptials for him. Zuri, poor Zuri. I just see book 2 having Sis down bad and I hate that for her. Whitney is a scheming wh*re! Bianca is my kind of friend, even if she's on that p*mp stuff. LOL This book was so full of drama I literally could not keep up and I LOVED every single minute of it.
OMG! I need part 2 right now! Great read! I couldn't help hoping for a happy ending for Zuri. The storyline had a lot of secrets & lies going on between Zuri, her sisters & their crazy relationships with their men. Add in Zoey, Zuri's overly spoiled teenage daughter & we got more drama that you didn't see coming. You could feel the chemistry between Zuri & Law, but the timing is not quite right for their love. Can't wait to find out what happens to Law as the trial end & Zuri when unexpected news is doubly revealed.
This book had me all in from beginning to end, could not stop reading it. Zuri should’ve listened to that inner voice when that girl sent that picture the day of her wedding. I understand wanting to give your child a better life because as a LIONESS our kids come first. How could Zoey & Rashaad cross the line like that. That’s an unforgivable betrayal, by the both of them. Rashaad Rashaad Rashaad how the hell you beat Zoey like that cause she don’t want to be with you. Zoey is a child and you a grown a** man and now the FBI is about to get you. Wow Zuri you really getting it on with Law. So sad to read her getting attacked by the Brown. Law was ready to risk it all when he heard Zuri scream. Whit & Jeezy are so wrong for what they doing to Law it’s about to be hell to pay when he find out. Jeezy only in whit ear to get what he can get out of her & she don’t even realize that she being used. How could Zina & Trayvon SMH!!! My heart stopped and broke into pieces when Zadah drop that boom on Zuri. Can’t wait to find out how Zadah knew that. This book was full of scandal, heart break and unforgivable betrayal.
Now I’m on pins & needles waiting on part 2. One thing Jessica Watkins going to do is have you hooked like a drug addict. She never disappoints….
Poor Zuri has been through it all with Rashaad narcissistic and controlling behind. I was really happy to see her getting it in with Law I just hate that things ended they way they did between them hopefully they can get back on track. Law was bae and I hope he is able to walk from those bogus charges he is facing so he can catch on to the scheme that his trifling baby mama and brother Jeezy have going on stealing from him. Zoey is a spoiled selfish brat and I wanted to feel sorry for what happened to her but I don’t because she is playing a grown up game that she won’t win and hopefully it humbles her. Zina and Zadah are a mess with the games they play sleeping with each other’s men they both need to grow the hell up. I can’t wait to see what happens next because Rashaad definitely needs to receive his karma especially since Zadah dropped that bomb on Zuri!!
Ok so i need to keep this PG but, what in the entire ____! These are some of the grimest characters I have ever read about! The sisters, the daughter, the husband, brother, & girlfriend ALL need help! I feel so bad for Zuri and im rooting for her & Law. He is definitely Bae. You definitely cant judge a book by its cover, or in this case believe what some people say or even show you early on. Zoey just knew she had it all figured out & things were gonna go her way but Rashaad changed that quick! I think of all the characters, Zoey was the most shocking. Law is my favorite. Im just gonna warn you, the ending had my mouth hanging open. I couldnt put this book down when I started it but part 2 seems like its getting ready to get real juicy! Hopefully its coming soon...pls?
This was a messy boots production right here, OMG!!! It was so GOOD though! Just when you got used to one messy scandal, here comes another one! Everybody in this damn book is a MESS!
First, I like Law, but damn his brother Reese got on my nerves! If he don't go sit down and shut up! He's going to mess around and screw up EVERYTHING! I found myself rolling my eyes every time he went to open his mouth.
I think Rashaad's problems are way more than women, and I'm sure more will be revealed in the next installment of this series.
Every last one of those sisters are a mess, and the oldest grandchild ZOEY?! Whew chile! I'm not even surprised by her situation. But I knew one of those sisters knew something.
Last, I think Zina is lying about the identity of her child's father.
