The Aristocrat Diaries #3

The Accidental Countess

Rate this book
An earl and an artist walk into a bar, and the barman says—never mind. They’re in a church, and they’re married now. Oops.
My name is Evangeline Astley, and the only thing you need to know about me is that I never imagined this was how my life would go.
I was supposed to devote all my time to painting gorgeous things to eventually open my own art gallery. Instead, I spent it all trying to sell my art to save my parents’ hotel.
Cue the Earl of Anglesey and his not-so-stunning idea.
Matthew Bennett needs an heir to the earldom, but for an heir, he needs a wife. And I’m the one the extremely eligible bachelor has chosen. Except I’m just as marriage-phobic as he is, so naturally, I refused—until he gives me an offer that I couldn’t.
If I agreed to marry him, provide an heir, and divorce amicably in due course, he would save The Fox and Hound hotel that I love so much.
That, ladies and gents, is how I became the Countess of Anglesey.
The one thing I didn’t count on, however?
Falling in love with my husband.

My favourite in the series.

Eva and Matthew have a causal relationship. When Matthews hand in force he needs to marry and start a family. Eva is his choice of bride. Keeping it simple is what they both want but can a causal relationship turn into more than necessity?

I really enjoyed this. It’s like fake dating but they’re sort of dating. It has a nice setting against the Welsh countryside and some loveable characters.

The Accidental Countess is the finale in the "Aristocrat Diaries" and I have had such a blast with these books. They are so wonderfully written and highly entertaining. I do recommend to read this series and really this author in audio. She always portrays the best romantic comedies and I just ADORE these type of covers, I would love for the genre to get back to this style as they are so much better than those a line faceless cartoons lol

What we have in The Accidental Countess is a charming marriage of convenience. I absolutely adore this trope in a contemporary romance and its so delightful to see here. Emma Hart really handled this trope so well. I can be picky about this one here, and it was so well done. I really found it interesting to see how it was set up and that the heroine was so on board with having a baby but yet was fighting her birth control all the time, it was a bit confusing at times. Because she agreed to have a baby with the hero, but yet when his grandmother enforces the idea of her having a baby, she is like well I am on birth control, I won't be pregnant haha

But overall I found this story to be endearing, hilarious and wild fun as only this author can deliver!

This a well-written, entertaining contemporary romance novel. It has a likable, artistic female protagonist, a kind and caring male protagonist, a beautiful setting, humor, engaging secondary characters including a fabulous grandmother, a heartwarming romance, and a satisfying conclusion. This is the third entry in the Aristocrat Diaries series, and it can be read as a stand alone. The appearance of characters from the first two novels in the series has piqued my interest in reading their stories. The narrators, Will Watt and Shakira Shute, are truly talented and do an outstanding job voicing the characters.

Another wonderful romantic comedy from Hart! In fact, this one might end up being my favorite of all three in this series of standalones set in the UK. The relationship between Matthew and Eva is perfect. The way their marriage of convenience comes about is nice too, because it isn’t anything that is an emergency and they do all the things ahead of time to make sure no one can get hurt if things change. That doesn’t mean this story has no ups and downs, it does. But I actually kind of like the way the downs don’t get so deep and dark in this one. I loved the family members of course, the ones we knew from the past books, like Emma’s twin sister Adelaide. And then there was Matthew’s grandmother. When they walked into the house and she and his mother had just arrived back from giving the two of them a little “honeymoon” time, she was singing an Eminem song that just the lines she sang in the book still has that song going through my head. lol

I loved the dogs, the staff, their family, the little town, the setup of what Eva as an artist would find to fulfill herself in her new life in this small quaint town far away from her family. This was the kind of story that was just perfect. I mean I just loved how it all went. The funny times, the little uh-oh moment that I wondered if it would be more than what it turned out to be, and even the romantic times. Eva’s love of toast was funny, and again, made me hungry for toast as well. As usual, the author does such a great job with the banter between our hero and heroine.

The only that maybe I felt was a tiny bit much was how Eva reacted when she found out that it might have been her mistake that caused the big surprise. It really wasn’t that big of a deal, but I guess she had her own “reason” for being that emotional. Oh yeah, and once again, someone calling an event a funfair. I get it, I think, some people call it that? I’ve just never heard it called that and it sounds so redundant to me.

Loved the story, sad this little series is over, but glad to hear we might get more in this same type of setting from the author soon as well!

Eva’s story has been the one I’ve been most excited about.

Eva and Matt have a friends with benefits arrangement and both of them are fine with their arrangement and neither of them wants more in their lives. However, things change and Matt needs a wife and heir. It was just supposed to be a temporary arrangement but not everything works out as planned.

Eva and Matt’s story goes from fwb to marriage and even a child on the way pretty quick, but during that time their connection and their chemistry continues to grow stronger and more feelings begin to develop. Everything moves at a fairly rapid place.

There is plenty of chemistry, hilarious conversations, some spice, and swoon.

If you’re looking for a marriage of convenience rom com this is one to check out.

ARC kindly received for an honest review.

This was a fun instalment in this series. I found myself laughing out loud numerous times. Eva and Matt work so well together, even if this is an arrangement to start with. I love how they fit so well together and there were so many fun moments in this one. Matts Mum and particularly his Grandmother, made for some quite hilarious characters as well.

Enjoyed this one thoroughly and it didn't take me long to read at all because I was loving it so much. Would recommend.

RATING: 4.5/5

Hart concludes The Aristocrat Diaries Series with The Accidental Countess, where an earl and an artist make an agreement that would ultimately change their lives forever. Filled sweet banter and laugh-out-loud moments, this romance will keep you reading until the very end.

For Evangeline Astley, there isn’t a single part of her that wants to get married. As an artist, she wants to someday be able to sell her own work. But instead, Eva is working at someone else’s art gallery in order to save her parents’ hotel. Until she meets Matthew Bennett, the Earl of Anglesey. It’s their instant connection that brings them together and the fact that neither of them want to be in a serious relationship. Yet, everything changes the minute Matthew asks Eva to marry him. He needs an heir to keep the family line going and for that he needs a wife to pretend to be in love with him.

At first, Eva can’t believe Matthew is asking her to do the very same things she doesn’t want to do and that’s to get married. There is nothing in it for her, until he makes her a deal that he’ll save her family’s hotel and she can have it once they get divorced in a few years. Eva doesn’t want to lose the one place she’s ever known so she accepts his offer. Little did she know how her live as the new countess in a place she’s never been to would change her life as well as her growing feelings for her husband.

As the Earl of Anglesey, Matthew Bennett is constantly under a lot of pressure to keep the earldom from dying out. He needs a legitimate male heir through marriage in order to keep the family line going. But choosing a wife is not easy, everyone has eyes on his wealth, title and place in society. If he has to get married, Matthew wants to do it with someone he trusts instead and that’s when Eva comes in. He very much enjoys spending time with her and he is willing to help her parents’ hotel if she gives him an heir. Yet, it’s after they get married that he starts to see just how perfect they are for each other. Eva understands him and he wants to do anything to make her happy. They weren’t supposed to fall in love with each other and he is afraid that she might not share the same feelings for him. Matthew is willing to prove to Eva that they can have a shot at a future together.

I’m a huge Emma Hart fan, she always delivers swoon worthy romances combined with her sense of humor that they’re hard to resist. We meet Eva and Matthew in previous books in the series and now they get to have their own chance at a HEA. They both know what they’re in for the minute they sign the contract that would bind them together as husband and wife. Eva knows that she needs to provide Matthew with an heir, but he doesn’t want to rush her into anything as she is getting used to her new life. As the new countess, Eva is still unsure about her future in Anglesey. Matthew is sweet to her, pays attention to her wants and she is touched by it. She has never been in love, but spending more time with him has her question her feelings for him. I loved their banter and their time together. We get to meet his own family and his grandmother is hilarious. I wish a few things could have been explained a little further, but the ending made up for it as it ended the series with on a sweet note. I would highly recommend checking out the book as well as the series. I cannot wait to read what Emma Hart comes up with next! :)

Ude mbatin duluan "awas aja kalau kaya buku 3 endingnya gak jelas" ternyata enggak... ini kumplit kok endingnya dan gw suka deh, ton pada jaman modern...

Eva - Matthew udah ketemu dr buku 2 pas charity ball gitu, Eva ini artis (painter) dan liberal trs free spirit banget, itungannya commoner tp emaknya adalah lady, anak Duke yg nikah sama bpknya yg orang biasa. Matthew adalah mas2 too good to be true, baik, playboy ya enggak, kaya raya sudah pasti..

What happens when a relationship phobic earl and an artist that doesn’t believe in marriage fall in love after a marriage of convenience for the sole purpose of producing a male heir? Why, The Accidental Countess of course!

Honestly, I’m so in love with this series and these characters. I didn’t think that Emma Hart could top Addy and Alex’s story, but Matthew and Eva have stolen my heart! These two thought they had such a good plan in place . . .and that they could get married, have babies and amicably diviorce a few years later without having feelings other than fondness and friendship, and I loved watching it fall into complete disarray and something so much more!

The Accidental Countess was sweet and sassy. Matthew and Eva both have a fantastically sarcastic sense of humor that shows in their banter. Matthew’s mother and Nan are added fun, and Christoper holds the household together. I adored that the only real drama was this couple dealing with the fact that they were indeed catching feelings for each other when they were not supposed to be. It was amazing to watch their budding romance turn from a fun time in the bedroom to so much more!

The epilogue was really everything as well as we catch up with all three couples from this series to see where life has taken them. I’m sad to see them go, but can easily say that The Aristocrat Diaries have been my favorite Emma Hart books to date! 5 stars!

I loved Eva and Matthew together.

A kind of friends with benefits, marriage of convenience to possibly something more....

Sometimes what you're looking for is right in front of you. And sometimes you don't realize what you want until it's happening. I loved the narrators!

***4 Stars***

I really liked Eva in the first two books in the series and was all in to see her fall to the love bug, and though it did take me a minute to fully get into her and Matthew’s journey, I ended up thoroughly enjoying the ride and everyone we got to me and hang out with along the way.

Matthew and Eva were a lot of fun to get to know and watch fall in love, even when they were determined not to. Matthew is a good man, ambitious and definitely not afraid to not only ask for help, but when it’s freely given, respect it. Eva is sweet, snarky and still looking for her place in the world.

Their journey to their HEA was fun and sweet. They definitely went about things in a half-assed backwards kind of way. The physical chemistry is there in spades, but everything else is a bit lacking. But as they actually spend more time together, they get to see below the surface and find that they could just fall in love, if they’d just let themselves.

While this one wasn’t my fav of the series, it was a fun and enjoyable read, and a great addition to it. As I said at the start, I had a bit of a time getting fully invested ~ and after I was invested I knew why I had struggled ~ but once I passed that point, it was a good read for me. And as for the supporting cast of characters. I LOVED Beckett, Lucy and Jack. Christopher and Elin were awesome, and I do hope we see Ceri in the future. Eleanor was great and Ffion was seriously awesome. And that epilogue with Gabi, Miles, Adelaide and Alex was perfect!

Note: I cannot wait to get my hands on the audiobook so I can learn how to pronounce the various Welsh words correctly :)

4.5 star review The Accidental Countess (The Aristocrat Diaries #3) by Emma Hart

Book three in the Aristocrat Diaries series and was a good addition. This is Evangeline (Eva) Astley and the Earl of Anglesey, Matthew Bennett’s story and it was an entertaining marriage of convenience read.

Matthew is in desperate need of an heir so he suggests that Eva marry him after all they have been friends for some time and neither of them are looking for a happily ever after. In fact Eva is not thrilled at all by the prospect of marriage but to save The Fox and Hound she agrees to marriage, a baby and an amicable divorce later.

It all sounds simple enough, but complications quickly arise when what starts off as fake soon morphs into so much more. I found myself laughing out loud on numerous occasions like a mad woman. Eva is such a fun, feisty, sassy woman and I really like her outrageous antics. Her relationship with her twin sister Adelaide is heartwarming and do not get me started on their text messages, they are a hoot.

The secondary characters are quirky and unique and really added to my enjoyment of the story. They were all up in every ones business and Matthew’s grandmother in particular cracked me up

This book left me with a smile on my face.

I think this might be my fav by Emma Hart – seriously what was this?

I fell hard for both Mathew and Eva. I'm someone who never shows her true feelings very well so to say I could connect to both of them is such an understatement.
When (now) my husband first told me he loved me it took me a minute to respond and it was funny to see her reaction when he started opening up to her and confessing his feelings.
The banter had me laughing more times that I could count. I adored all the side characters, even the eccentric Nan. I was glued to my Kindle seeing how their relationship was shifting from awareness to something forever.
I felt a kinder spirit in Eva. I'm a mom of 2 and I’m still wondering from time to time if I really need the house with a white picket fence and 2,5 kids – but as she I wouldn't trade it for the world.

The Accidental Countess is book 3 and the final book in The Aristocrat Diaries Series by Emma Hart. This is Evangeline /Eva Astley and the Earl of Anglesey, Matthew Bennett’s story. Theirs is a FWB type relationship- light on the friends, more on the with benefits. It suited how they roll yet Matthew is told to marry and produce an heir or else lose his title and all that comes with.... he immediately proposes to Eva ..a marriage of convenience. Oh get ready to go on a rollercoaster ride with Eva and Matthew. It's steamy, intense, dramatic, full of feels, laughs and a cast of secondary characters that made this story really memorable. Sooo good!!

My Rating: 4.5 stars ********

This was my favorite book in the series and I loved watching Matthew and Eva navigate their marriage of convenience, especially when feelings get real. It was supposed to be easy. Get married, have babies, get divorced, but things get complicated when things become real for these two.

I really enjoyed that the only drama in this story was the fact that they both were catching feelings for each other. I was in need of something light and fun. This definitely hit the mark!

While I’m sad to see this series go, the epilogue was the perfect send off. I can’t wait to see what this author comes up with next!

Another charming read from Ms Hart. I’ve enjoyed these quintessentially English romps in the countryside.
I was looking forward to Eva…she always seemed good for a laugh and I enjoyed her character very much.
I’m always keen to read marriage of convenience and this was as you would expect.
The friendship and connection between Matthew and Eva was fun and well written.
Some great humour and banter, very much a romcom beach read.

Eva and Matthew had an arrangement of friends with benefits since they were both anti commitment. Then Matthew needed her help to please his family. They started out as an arrangement as friends and as much as they tried they fell for each other. But they never expressed that to each other immediately. They danced around it until they finally came clean. It had some very funny moments but it was a great friends to lovers story.

There was nothing accidental about this at all.

Eva agrees to marry her casual fling when he needs a woman who can produce a male heir, since he's a Welsh Earl. Reluctant, yes. Accidental, no.

Cute, but not enough angst for me.

I tried - I reallyy tried
I couldn't take any more of Eva's bad attitude and complaining all the time - I got to about 60% before I called it a day

I love a marriage of convenience which is why this hurt so much

But I didn't like Eva and I never liked her - even in the other books,

I was pretty much thinking this read was in the bland but “not bad” territory until I hit the halfway point. Then we were introduced to the hero’s grandmother, Nan, who became obsessed in thinking that her new granddaughter-in-law of two weeks was pregnant, or maybe it was her twin, she couldn’t tell enough between their “auras”. So every scene with her became obnoxious and everyone would just shake their head and say “that’s just grandma” as she would continually say rude things and even sneak into the couple’s bedroom suite and steal a used pregnancy test from the bathroom trash to prove whether or not her new granddaughter-in-law was telling the truth in not being pregnant.

I know these kinds of characters are written by authors to try to be funny, but I absolutely hate the forced “quirky” character they often write with this type of effort and it ends up being instead not funny at all and off-putting. And I haven’t gotten into the non-stop PMS jokes that started creeping into the book about the halfway point as well. It’s like her editor or beta reader received the first half of the book manuscript and told the author to crank up the humor, and we got potty humor and a crass pregnancy obsessed grandma. How charming. 2 stars.

With each book of Emma Hart’s I just discover more and more how in love I am with her writing and this time was no different. I just know that from the minute I pick up one of her books that I’m going to find myself instantly loving the story, but also getting to see what crazy relative that she’s added into her story as honestly one of the best things about her books is the one crazy relative as they always tend to make me laugh due the crazy antics that they get up to, and knowing Emma’s character’s they are entertaining in their own way.
But still, whilst I love that, I do also love the stories that surround them, because even though they are a side character, the main characters and their story is so different, but it also gives you everything you could ask for within a book, but that’s never been an issue for Emma as she knows what her readers want, but as well it’s clear that she writes for herself as it shows through her writing, but us getting to experience her words just make it even that more amazing.
I honestly had no idea how this book world go because each book in this series has given us something different every time and I was used to seeing the sarcastic, sassy Eva, it seemed that nothing really rattled her, so getting to see her in this book be completely rattled and quite insecure made it that much more real, it was like we got to see another layer of her, but it was the real Eva, not the one that she was happy to go ahead and show to everyone, but still I could understand the way she was as in a way, she reminds me of her. But still it makes sense with how she did things because at the end of the day all she wanted to be able to do the best thing for her family, but also save her families business, so with her making a huge choice to just help them when in a way she wasn’t exactly getting much out of it, goes to show that really she was a great person.
Being honest, I was quite intrigued by Matthew and Eva’s relationship back in Addy’s book, but that was mainly due to the fact that Eva isn’t exactly known for going back to the same guy once she’s slept with them once, she’s not the type of person looking for her happy ever after by going ahead and marrying, but still she did shock me quite a bit and I wanted to see how exactly both Matthew and Eva would do in the long run, and I have to say that it was an interesting experience, but I think what made it all the more worth it was when Matthew’s mom and grandmother came back from their holiday and both Matthew and Eva turned up and they both got an eyeful of his grandmother rapping Eminem. If anything, it was something to come home to, but it was just hilarious either way.
I do think that both Matthew and suited each other quite well as in a way they did complement each other and they got the other out of their comfort zones and just helped each other in ways they never expected too.
I honestly can’t fault anything that Emma has done in this book, if anything she tied up Eva’s story quite well and if anything gave her the story that she so deserved.
I honestly have no idea what Emma has next up her sleeves, but I know for a fact that I’m looking forward to it.
If you loved the previous two books in the series, then you’re going to want to pick up this one and give it a read, as it’s just as juicy as the previous two.

Eva and Matthew have an arrangement that works out well for the two of them, whenever they are wanting to just get away and spend the night having some mind-blowing sex, they both meet up, have their fun for the night and then the next day go back to their lives and carry on doing everything as they pleased.
Yet, this visit is a lot different, because this time Matthew has something big to ask of Eva, but what she doesn’t realise is that she’s about to possibly have her life changed in such a huge way.
When Matthew proposes of the idea of that they both get married (even though neither are wanting to get married ever to anyone), they both try to get pregnant so that Matthew is able to try and keep his family name running and not end with him, and if all fails they get divorced after so long but Matthew will happily support her for the rest of it and in return Matthew will go ahead and invest in Eva’s family business so that they are able to keep that alive, it’s not exactly a bad idea. Yet when you think everything through and put everything together, it’s clear there’s a lot that could go wrong…
With wanting to help Matthew but also wanting to help save her families business, will Eva be tempted to just go for it??? It sounds easy, or so she thinks???

“You? Get nervous?”
“What? I can’t be this strong, confident superhero all the time, you know. Even Batgirl needs a breather once in a while.”

Eva definitely did not picture her life ending up the way it has, married no way, to an Earl yeah must be a joke…right? But with her parents beloved hotel in desperate needs of a cash boost and her artist salary not really covering it, Eva does the unthinkable and agrees to Matthews crazy marriage of convenience plan! All she has to do is marry him, produce an heir and he will invest in the hotel giving it the much need cash flow. Living a plush life for the next few year in a castle, have a kid and all she needs to do is make sure she doesn’t fall in love with her husband!

..

Matthew knew that with his title came one major duty and that was to produce an heir to the Earldom, but to have a kid he needs a wife, but Matt really doesn’t want to get married. But with mounting pressure from his mum and nan, Matt comes up with the crazy plan to marry his friend Eva, after all it would help both of them out and they are already friends so what’s the worst that could happen? With the perfect plan in motion Matt just failed to factor in falling in love with his wife… can these two actually get their happily ever after?

..

"She felt like sunshine in my arms. And I didn’t want to let her go."

A fake turned real romance? Yes, please! Emma Hart is hands down the queen of quirky cute romcoms and this is exactly what we get in The Accidental Countess, this book was the perfect combination of sweet cute romance and loads of laugh out loud moments all tied together with one all knowing nan!

..

Eva was such a cool leading lady, I loved her large and loud personality and that she was so easy to connect with. I loved that she connected to the dogs and staff at the castle so nicely and that she really gave Matt a good run for his money. I absolutely love the entire toast saga and how everyone got involved with Eva’s love for buttery toast.

..

Our charming Earl Matt was a sweetheart, I loved that he wanted Eva to feel at home and to be comfortable before trying for a baby. The banter and chemistry between these two was HOT and hilarious! I loved watching them fall for each other and slowly coming around to the idea of marriage. The side characters were amazing but the prize definitely goes to Nan for her persistence on the baby topic and her all round snoopiness, she was just a hoot!

..

The Accidental Countess is a hilarious cute friends to lovers, faked turned real romcom that is not to be missed!

I was kindly sent a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

A fake marriage is all fun and games until someone catches feelings...

Eva has always said she was never getting married – her golden rule has always been to never get back into bed with someone you left there. But then she starts having casual hook-ups with Matthew, the Earl of Anglesey. Which is fine because he shares that same views on marriage as her, and he’s pretty damn good in bed too. But then Matthew drops a bomb – in order to ensure the earldom doesn’t pass onto his idiot cousin and his family, Matthew needs a wife and an heir. The plan is simple, they get married, have two children, and after five years they divorce amicably, with Eva and the children well cared for. Matthew will also ensure that Eva’s family hotel, The Fox and Hound, is saved from financial ruin. All things considering, it’s a pretty good deal. What’s more, they both swear they’ll never develop romantic feelings for one another, even if all their friends think they’re crazy for believing that. As Eva settles into life in Anglesey and experiences all the beauty and magic that Isle has to offer, it’s not long before her heart gets ideas her head wasn’t expecting...

I know I say this every single time, but I swear the books in Emma’s series get better and better with each instalment! I’ve really enjoyed all the books in The Aristocrat Diaries, and while I don’t want to pick favourites here, I think Eva & Matthew’s story is my favourite (although, if I went back and reread the books, I’d say the same thing about each story...). Fake relationships and marriages of conveniences are some of my favourite romance tropes, and Emma delivered a really fun story, as always.

One of the things that Emma did so well in this book, and the series as a whole, is immerse you in the English and Welsh countryside. I’ve never been to the UK, but I felt like I was exploring the world in which these characters live. It was so easy to feel like a fly on the wall and part of this friend and family group.

I’ve absolutely loved the focus on English aristocracy and socialites in modern times, and I desperately need more books like this – thankfully Emma’s next book will also be taking place in this landscape, so I cannot wait! If you’re a fan of Regency and Victorian era aristocrat romance, but also love modern day romances, then this is a nice balance between the two.

I was provided an ARC via the author, all opinions are my own.

This is the 3rd book in this series. I do feel you can read each of them as standalones. The other 2 books in the series are just as good and you'll get to know Gabi and Addy better. You will also get additional insight into the British aristocratic society. I've really enjoyed getting to learn about the aristocracy and how all of that functions through this series.

Eva is an aspiring artist and Matthew is an Earl. Neither one of them is interested in marriage or having a family, but if Matthew wants to keep the earldom he has to get married and attempt to have a male heir. While not fond of the archaic way things work, it is how his title works and he would like to keep his estate in his immediate family. He and Eva have been seeing each other casually for some time and he proposes a marriage of convenience. Eva is well versed in the aristocratic circles as her uncle is a Duke and her mother also has a title. While Eva isn't immediately thrilled by the idea of getting married and having kids, she likes Matthew and he offers to invest in her parents slowly failing hotel.

I really enjoyed this. It is a really sweet slow burn romance. Matthew and Eva have great banter throughout, and while their marriage of convenience starts out as a sort of friends with benefits relationship you always knew it was going to develop into something more. I really enjoyed watching them fall for each other. It was kind of refreshing that there wasn't some big angsty moment in this. I thought the author did a great job taking is on a tour of the island and the places local to Matthew's estate. I haven't done my research yet, but I hope these are real places you can visit. They sound wonderful and I'd love to go there someday. It is no wonder Eva always wanted to paint and sketch. I'd love one of her postcards, I'd totally order a set. I really enjoyed how kind and patient Matthew and Eva was with Eva as she settled in to her new home and new situation. I also loved his mother and grandmother. One of the things I always look forward to in Hart's books is a hilarious grandparent character, and Matthew's grandmother brought some comic relief to this book. I loved her!

Matthew Bennett, the Earl of Anglesey, has no interest in getting married, but he doesn't want to see his family's legacy end with him, or worse, pass on to his buffoon of a cousin. He needs an heir, which means he needs a wife, so he turns to Evangeline "Eva" Astley for help. Matthew and Eva have been friends with benefits since they met at a charity event a few months earlier, and even though she's not interested in marriage either, Matthew can't imagine tying himself to anyone else. Knowing that Eva's family hotel is in financial trouble and she's been trying to help her parents turn it around, Matthew proposes solving both of their problems with a marriage of convenience. In exchange for marrying him and providing an heir, Matthew will buy a stake in the hotel, providing the cash infusion it needs to stay afloat. When they divorce in a few years, he'll give Eva his stake in the hotel as well as provide for her and their child financially. The only catch is that they'll have to convince both the public and most of their family and friends that their relationship is real.

Eva and Matthew were both incredibly likeable, sympathetic characters, and I enjoyed their witty banter tremendously. In addition, I thought their relationship development was perfectly paced; the chemistry between them was obvious from the start, but I loved that they spent so much time together and became friends before they fell in love. I also appreciated the way that Eva fell in love with Anglesey just as much as she fell in love with Matthew. The author's appreciation for the island was clear in the descriptions of the places the characters visited and the bits of local history that were woven into the story. I've added a new destination to my bucket list as a result of this book, that's for sure!

In summary, "The Accidental Countess" was one of Emma Hart's best books to date, and I adored it. I highly recommend it for all fans of contemporary romance and romantic comedy. While I'm sad that this series has come to an end, I can't wait to find out what Hart plans to write next.

The Accidental Countess tells the story of Matthew and Eva two friends with benefits that make an agreement that benefit both, but a marriage, children and a title are many things to digest, Eva will show us its trajectory with a sudden change of life.

The first thing presented to readers is how the relationship between Eva and Matt is light and uncomplicated, casual encounters with a solid friendship, and this already brings a sense of comfort in the first impressions. Another thing that caught my attention was that Emma brings in this book a greater sensuality than others by the author, and this is already present in the very first scenes.

Eva is a common character in books with this theme, funny, calm and with an artistic side well touched and presented, but it's not surprising or new.

Matthew follows the same type, but in terms of humor and connection with the family has a differential, it also brings an emotional charge to the plot.

The secondary characters are amazing, bringing a couple from another book and introducing us to future ones, the family relationship shows us that well-built, impossible not to laugh with Matt's grandmother in several occasions.

One of the things that bothered me about this book was the way the book transcribed fast and at the same time not, the events sometimes became meaningless and hard to understand, and the parts that needed a deepening and a drama simply didn't exist, the cuts were abrupt, and it seems that it was written in a fast way.

Otherwise, it was a good book, but it had much more potential.

Thank you so much! Stacy and Emma by ARC for early reading.
